“Today, I have an incredible guest joining me today is Richard Gordon, who is an energy medicine pioneer, a visionary and the creator of Quantum Touch. Together we are going to discuss something that's near and dear to my heart, which is healing and energy, and we're going to explore what the next evolutionary steps may be that consciousness is taking us to, especially in the ever-expanding field of energy medicine. “

~Sylvia Henderson

Richard Gordon Quantum-Touch and Beyond

OMTimes.com

The New Human, which was published in 2013. Richard's journey began while attending Christos School of Natural Healing in Taos, New Mexico in the 1970s where he discovered the power of working with energies in hands-on healing. This work led to a wide range of further discoveries as Richard began to explore all the energies around his hands. He eventually met an awe-inspiring healer named Bob Rasmussen, who had an extraordinary ability to heal people's bodies with his hands. Richard began apprenticing with Bob, and this is how Richard's work was born.

We’re going to talk about a remarkable hand on healing modality called Quantum touch, which is so effective and easy to learn that even children can learn to use it to heal themselves and others. And we are also going to talk about how energy medicine is evolving from hands on healing to something entirely different. Richard has over 37 years of experience in the field of energy medicine and is the best-selling author of Quantum Touch: The Power to Heal, which is published in 17 different languages, and the author of Your Healing Hands: The Polarity Experience, which is available in 10 different languages. He's also the author of Quantum Touch 2.0:

OMTimes.com

Richard founded the Quantum Touch organization more than 16 years ago. This organization currently has more than 1,400 certified practitioners in over 50 countries around the globe. Their vision and mission are to help improve the health and quality of life for many people using simple, easy to learn energy healing techniques. With his expertise and passion for sharing the message about hands on healing, Richard has traveled around the world to speak at medical centers, conferences and chiropractic colleges. He was a faculty member at Heartwood Institute and the Holistic Health Institute.

Richard Gordon: Thank you, Sylvia. It's a real pleasure to be here. Sylvia Henderson: Well, it's absolutely a pleasure to have you. You have such a huge wealth of knowledge and wisdom. So, what is Quantum Touch, and what makes Quantum Touch unique from other energy medicine modalities? Richard Gordon: Well, Quantum Touch in its essence has started as a form of energy healing, primarily hands-on healing. And what make it different than other modalities is both its simplicity and ease of use but its power. The way we do it is we're using a combination of breathing and body awareness exercises the entire time we're working. So, we're always feeling awareness through our body in various patterns and moving the breath in various patterns in conjunction with those body sensations. This raises the life force energy of our body and our hands, which first off protects us from picking up any energy from the other person, secondly, raises our energy really high, so the other person ends up matching the vibration that you're holding the field of. And we like to say that the definition of a healer is someone who was sick and got well, and a great healer is someone who was very sick and got well quickly, because ultimately, we don't heal anybody else.

OMTimes.com

You don't really heal a cut, you don't know how to heal a cut on your finger. It's not something you're doing with your intellect. It's the body and spiritual intelligence that's healing the cut. We simply provide that field of energy to allow other people to accelerate their own self-healing. Sylvia Henderson: So, what I really love about Quantum Touch is that the practitioner who are the facilitator, the one who is raising their vibration that is helping the actual healer, that person that has the ailment raise their vibration, this entrainment happens. And so, both individuals, are they receiving benefits then?

Richard Gordon: Yeah, absolutely. One of the physicians who wrote a review on my book had written--Jerry Pitman. He wrote that, in its elegance, Quantum Touch first provides healing for the practitioner. So, both the practitioner and the client are both receiving the benefit simultaneously. So, it's a very simple, powerful way that ordinary people can very quickly and effectively access the power of their own healing potentials. And it doesn't have any mysticism around it. It has no magic handshake or symbols or anything like this. It's just breathing and body awareness and connecting to your love and desire to be helpful.

Sylvia Henderson: So, I'm just curious - how did you step into this knowledge and knowing the importance of the breath and the body awareness and how effective that is for creating the environment for true healing to take place?

So, this woman stood up, and just before--I measured her, and her right hip was really high in the back, and just before I was about to put my hands on to do it, he said, you know, I bet you could do that without touching. And I said, really? He said, yeah, go ahead and try.

Richard Gordon: Sure, yeah. I met this gentleman named Robert Rasmussen who showed me how to use breathing and body awareness. My girlfriend who was in front of the room, and he pointed out her scoliosis; we're all looking at the bones in her back and how bent up she was, and he touched her hip, and the hip just rolled back into alignment like a hot knife through butter. And the bones in her back started moving, and I was astounded, assuming I'll never learn to do this and no one either will be able to do it. But, I discovered he could.

So, I meditated and measured her again, and she'd come completely back into alignment, and I have blown away, completely astounded. And I tested it thousands of times because I'm the biggest skeptic. I start off very skeptical myself, and then I have to show myself something so many times to get past my own skepticism. And once I did, I started asking the question, and it's a great question - if this is possible, what else can we do?

It took me many years before I evolved it further, but I got down to the simplicity of it, and I was also able to just take it further and further - new breathing techniques, new ways of moving the energy, vortexing it, working with the chakras and so forth. So, I evolved the work radically, and then about eight or nine years ago, I found I was having dinner with some friends, and one friend said, oh, show how you can move a person's posture back into alignment with a light touch, and I said, sure.

OMTimes.com

And I kept asking that question for years and eventually wrote Quantum Touch 2.0: The New Human, outlining, I don't know, about five or six new human abilities that we didn't know we had. And that led to the QuantumTouch Level Two Workshop where you can work two or three times faster without even touching somebody. Now, combining the basic quantum touch work with the level two is synergistically more powerful than just doing the level one or the level two. So, I really encourage people to do both. But, for example, you can work on multiple conditions simultaneously

with a person, you can work on multiple people simultaneously. Rupert Sheldrake gave a famous Ted Talk where he talked about 10 Dogmas of Science, and that was the first dogma of materialism, the assumption that everything has a physical basis. But, there are other assumptions, too, and Quantum Touch challenges some of these fundamental assumptions that the scientific community has made. Sylvia Henderson: So, where do you see us evolving to next?

turned out it didn't matter if it was rubber or plastic or paper or metal or stone. Nothing mattered. All matter holds energy and intention. The second point is, I would put energy into those objects, and I'd just touch somebody with that object, and it would immediately untwist their pelvic and occipital torsion. Well, there's a website I came to recently called Science Based Medicine - sounds very impressive. And they said that cranial manipulation is tooth fairy science because it does not exist.

Richard Gordon: Oh, boy. Well, in June, about--probably about six--a little less than six full months from now or right about that, my new book will be out, my fourth book, and it's gonna be called The Secret Nature of Matter. And I have made some discoveries that astound me every day that I think about them. I ran 58 experiments exploring the integration of life force energy, which is the energy we're using in the healing session and matters itself. Well, I had written a chapter in The New Human where I called it visible magic, and it was thrown way back in the book. It was probably like chapter 19 or something. One of the experiments was, I put energy into a physical object, and it

OMTimes.com

Well, it does exist, and you can feel the bones being half an inch high on one side of the back of the skull or the occiput as the other side, and two seconds later, they're level. In fact, I made a video recently that's kind of amusing. It's Quantum Touch Pendant Demo, and you can see these people's

reactions when they're suddenly shocked, astounded that the whole shape of their head just changed in two seconds. And now, we have about 1,000 of them in the hands of our best Quantum Touch people who are putting their love, gratitude, energy, healing into the pendant every day. So, now the pendant is holding that healing vibration, and it's getting stronger every day. This is not something that gets weaker day by day when you use it. It gets stronger because soon it'll have a few thousand people, and it's gonna multiply from there. This is becoming very popular for people to buy and to use them.

is spinal alignment so important for optimal health and wellbeing? Richard Gordon: Well, it is important because the whole nervous system operates through the spine, but I just use it as a window to see what's happening. In other words, most people are concerned about pain relief and bringing down inflammation, accelerating, the healing process, and that's understandable because that's what they experience and relate to. I appreciate all those things, and that's what most of Quantum Touch is all about. And I was as surprised as you to find out that plastic or the most unlikely items could hold consciousness, and I only ran experiments for about one year, but nothing was losing its energy intent in that time.

Sylvia Henderson: So, Richard, you have shared this amazing story about how you can transfer your energetic healing energy into inanimate objects. Everything is made from God stuff. I do have a question for you because so much of what you've talked about, why

OMTimes.com

And then I ran many other experiments along these lines and found out that objects can be grouped together in consciousness and that anything happening to one of the objects happens to them all. Now we have our best instructors and practitioners from all over the world who are running their best healing energy into the pendant. And the pendant works.

Sylvia Henderson: What have you found to be the most important and significant ingredient for a successful outcome regardless of the healing modality? Richard Gordon: Just your love and sincerity - it just precedes everything else. We forget that our love is our most valuable resource, that our love actually has a tremendous impact. Our love is incredibly valuable, and it truly matters. Sylvia Henderson: how can we step into that Quantum Touch to help heal our country and heal the planet? Richard Gordon: Well, learning to raise your vibration with the breathing of body awareness is always a great thing to do. But, essentially, to deal with all that polarization and that pain and the rage and the hurt and the anger, we need to turn inside and access the parts of our self that want to be the change; and be the change you want to see in the world. And I really think that this whole polarization that's happening now is going to be, in the long run, a fabulous thing because it's gonna mobilize people to create changes as never before. So, hopefully, we'll get some good out of it without too much damage in the meantime.

OMTimes.com

Sylvia Henderson: Yeah. We're living in this third-dimensional reality. Which is all about duality, and really, when you have something as divisive kind of rear its ugly head, that somehow community begins to form, and people begin to step back into their heart space and realize that we're not independent individuals, we're really all one. Richard Gordon: And all that emotion mobilizes focused intent and power, and there's a lot of power that people have access to. And if they're feeling too comfortable, they just sit on the couch. But, if they're really motivated, they get off the couch, and they do amazing things. And there are some fabulous solutions coming down the pike now environmentally and in other ways and with healing, of course. Sylvia Henderson: I'm really super stoked about your new book coming out: “The Secret Nature of Matter, I know it's gonna be a big game changer and definitely on the cutting edge of what's new and next regarding understanding consciousness and who and what we are. And so, you said that's coming out this summer?

Richard Gordon: It'll be out early June. It'll be called The Secret Nature of Matter, and it is a mind blower. Sylvia Henderson: So, is there any last thing that you want to share with the listeners about how they can use energy medicine, just very briefly in the last few moments, to enhance their own personal lives?

Richard Gordon: Well, we just need to realize the power of your love. And through some very simple techniques involving breathing and body awareness, you can start to do it. Just, even if you don't even know how to do Quantum Touch, just taking a series of deep breaths and exhaling through your hands, and put your hands on somebody with a lot of love, you're gonna start seeing some results. Of course, it'll get a lot stronger if you know more, but just keep the breathing going. Put your love in your hands and exhale through your hands, and you'll automatically start getting some healing results right now without any further instruction. But, don't stop the breathing because that's how you keep your energy raised. Sylvia Henderson: That's so important. It's amazing the power of the breath. It's just really the biggest gift that we have on the planet is our breath.

5 Tips to Solve Your Aversion to Exercise by Rebecca Clio Gould

Omtimes.com

Exercise. Some people love it, but even more people seem to hate it. Or, maybe hate is too strong of a word. But many people only do it because they feel like they should, not because they truly want to or enjoy it.

The truth is, being one of those women who really enjoys exercise, one of my greatest pleasures in life is a good cardio workout. If more than a day or two goes by without it, I can get cranky and depressed. Going to the gym or a class is not necessary to get my fix. Just getting up in the morning and popping in one of my Beach Body DVDs, working up a sweat with Shaun T, and setting myself up for an awesome day that way is enough. But let’s face it, I am a rare bird; unless you also live somewhere like Austin. Here, much of the city is obsessed with physical fitness and practically everyone and their mother seems to be a runner. But I digress. For many, exercise sounds like a chore, or even feel like a painful punishment, at least at first. But once we get into the groove of it or find activities

we truly enjoy, that will change. Don’t believe me? Try these tips:

Five Tips to Help Solve Aversion to Exercise 1. Think outside of the box. There is no reason for exercise to feel like a chore or like punishment. There are no rules saying you must go to the gym or go for a run or use workout DVDs. You don’t even need to work up a sweat. And if you get hung up on the words “exercise” or “workout,” then do not use them. Simply find activities that get you moving your body and are fun for you. Go for a walk, even if just around the block. Swim. Dance. Pull weeds--it can be so satisfying as well as great for your upper body. 2. Combine fun and fitness. The idea here is to combine your exercise time with something else--something fun! This could look like

Omtimes.com

reading a book or listening to a podcast or catching up with a friend on the phone while using an elliptical or stationary bike. Or going for a walk or a hike with a friend or a group. Take a class, like yoga or partner dancing. Do something in addition to the physical activity where there is also a chance to connect with other people. There may also be a chance for some meditative movement along with some more rigorous movement. 3. Speaking of dance, just dance. If you spend a lot of time seated, at a desk, can take break to move your body and refresh your mind by putting on a favorite song and dancing. Even if you do not know how to dance, here is good news: There is no right or wrong way to dance when you’re just

Omtimes.com

dancing by yourself! Just put on some music and move that body of yours. If you work in an office and do not have privacy, substitute this with going for a little walking break instead of a coffee break, without or without listening to some music. 4. Get by with a little help from your friends. Set up dates with friends for walks, hikes, swims, going out dancing, etcetera; whatever floats your boat. Do something fun and active, something that gets you moving, with your friends. You can also make new friends by joining Meetup groups for hiking or other physical activities. 5. Timing is everything. My love for exercise is not exactly what I would call unconditional love. If exercise is not done in the morning,

it is not likely to happen; at least not in terms of a cardio workout. A walk in the afternoon? Sure. Dancing at night? Maybe. But usually I want to get it done first thing in the morning to cross if off my list and to start my day off in a way that feels best. But for you, perhaps your lunch break is a better time, or some other time in the evening. Think about the time exercise would be best for you. Experiment until you find the right fit. And maybe the right fit is to just go with the flow and not schedule it in at the same time each day. It all depends on our personality, goals, and what we need to feel our happiest and healthiest. Speaking of goals and what feels right, I encourage you to let go of any preconceived ideas of what exercise should be. This includes the terms

of what we consider exercise, how much you increase your heart rate or sweat, and how much time you spend on it. The important thing is to get your body moving and to enjoy it! So, do not worry about society’s standards or media images. Just do your best and be your own best, whatever that is for you. Building Bridges to Trust by John Holland

Building Bridges with Communication There are so many ways that we interact and communicate with each other on a daily basis. Be it face to face, on the phone, via email, social media, and endless text chats

Omtimes.com

on different platforms! It can easily get overwhelming remembering what you’ve said to whom and in which mode! It’s easy to misinterpret a few words and for the trust to break down. For many of us who perhaps don’t find words of expression flow easily, it can be difficult to start the conversation. We might fear appearing stupid, vulnerable, or even imperfect. Don’t let this prevent you from making contact. It is often the first step in building that bridge of trust again.

Build Trust in Ways that Feel Right Find the most suitable method where you feel most comfortable. Initially, that might be email or text, (I prefer face-to-face) but the important thing is to open the door. By signaling a desire to interact more personally, sharing your thoughts and aspirations, dreams and even your spiritual philosophies can be liberating. Once you start

building the bridge of trust, you may well find that you’re able to share previously private thoughts and dreams in a more personal way, rather than the somewhat impersonal way of the past. Showing those you choose to trust displays a willingness to be open, to bare your soul and send out a signal that you’re receptive for others to become part of your life.

The Ripple Effect of Sharing Confidences Once you reach out, you will be surprised how the intimate confidences you share, not only have a ripple effect but inspire others to open their hearts and confide in you too. As this is my last article before the holiday season gets underway, I thought this an opportune time to talk about this subject, even though I’ve written about it before. Confiding in others can promote emotional closeness, and in doing so, often it’s a catalyst to dismantle past barriers that were caused

Omtimes.com

by misunderstandings or past hurts. It’s all part of emotional baggage we carry around, and this can so easily cause breakdowns in trust and prevent much-needed communication.

yourself why you’ve not spoken to them for so long. Be clear what happened, or why the relationship has lapsed. Once you have your list, decide on the best way to reach out.

So, as we go through the holidays, putting up the decorations and making all the preparations, take some time to remember those who would love to hear from you, and reach out to build or rebuild those bridges and send that all important message of love and trust.

If you’ve decided to text or email, sit comfortably and make sure you’re thinking about them when you write. Find words that show you’re prepared to heal past hurts or disputes. Use words that foster trust and words that show them you’re thinking about them this holiday and welcome their response.

And finally, … I wish you all the happiest, safest, joyous holidays and my thoughts and good wishes go out to everyone.

If you decide to pick up the phone, then again take yourself off to a relaxed, quiet spot in the house, and follow all the same recommendations.

The Bhagavad Gita – Ancient Jewel of Indian Wisdom by Arthur Telling

Listen to the Audio File

In the Battle Between Spirit and Self... Two great armies have assembled. A decisive battle is about to be fought. On the battlefield, Lord Krishna

Omtimes.com

- who is God incarnate - is the charioteer for Arjuna the warrior. The Lord is unable to prevent the war being fought solely because of the opposing king’s greed. Arjuna has grave doubts, seeing great spiritual men; friends, relatives and teachers assembled against him for battle. He does not want to fight them. This is the backdrop for the most cherished book of Hinduism, and is the moment where Krishna, in dialog with Arjuna, reveals the spiritual teachings of the ages. Overcome with emotion and in distress, Arjuna proclaims it would be better to run from the battlefield than to kill these noble men facing him. Krishna’s retort is strong and simple. Fight, he says. And here he unfolds the ancient message of nonattachment.

The Ancient Wisdom Teachings of Nonattachment

There are two paths, one of action, the other meditation, says the Creator of worlds to Arjuna. To obtain perfection, we must bring the two together, meditating while acting and acting while meditating. We accomplish this by performing our prescribed duties without having attachment to the result. In balanced symmetry, our thoughts and actions being precise and perfect. The battle about to occur is unimportant in respect to this greater goal. Thus, liberation from physical entrapment is our one true purpose. Were Arjuna to run, he would separate himself from the community and be thought a coward. His name cursed, he would live miserably. The battle is a path of action, and thus carries the devotee toward that one great goal.

Omtimes.com

But Arjuna remains in great distress, and does not want to fight his own kinsmen.

shell. The battle ensues, Arjuna victorious at the end, as the Lord had predicted.

Krishna continues his lesson.

Noble Qualities on the Higher Nature of Existence

The Wisdom Found in Truly Good Spiritual Connection Of those great warriors, who are truly good spiritual men, if they die, the highest heavens will open to them, they will have a great place in the higher worlds. No one actually dies, nothing dies, for the self is eternal. Action without attachment is the key to a realization of our true nature. So, fight! The outcome of this battle is not in doubt. The selfish king will lose the battle, says the Lord, because “I” am with you. The conch shells of the King blare out, signaling the battle is beginning. Lord Krishna responds, blowing his conch

Omtimes.com

Justification of war is impossible or difficult for those of a spiritual mindset. Yet this holy book’s rationale is also regarded, even in our modern times, as one of the great of books of the world. The lesson is not of victory and defeat, nor of hating an enemy out to wrong us. It is of truer noble qualities regarding the higher nature of existence. In a most adverse situation -- an ensuing battle - it becomes demonstrable, as spoken by the Lord, that a seeking of higher awareness is to be applied not just in a time of meditation, or in church or in yoga classes. It is also to be practiced at

all times, balancing action and meditation, and in any situation, no matter how problematic it may seem.

The Bhagavad Gita - The Wisdom of Balanced SelfAwareness The Gita is not a story about justifying war. It is about adhering to the higher practices of acquiring selfawareness, focusing on the Self at every moment, while performing tasks both ordinary and extraordinary, even in fighting wars. It is also about overcoming the physical distresses presented to us in our ever-present moment, and balancing our outer and inner worlds precisely without error. America’s highly respected philosophers Thoreau and Emerson greatly treasured India’s most cherished book, the Gita. Emerson called it “the voice of an

old intelligence which in another age and climate had pondered and disposed of the same questions which exercise us.” Truly, the wisdom-knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita shows us our true purpose, perfection by way of the activities we experience throughout our lifetime. Happiness as a Way of Life By Diane Wing, MA

January B 2017 Edition

The Happiness Perspective: Seeing Your Life Differently We have the goal of being happy, yet do not give a thought as to what that looks like for us as an individual. We may see a commercial, movie, or a television program that has a character whose lifestyle might exemplify what we think would make us happy. Or we see a product that promises that once we get rid of that [annoying problem – insert yours here], then we will be happy. There’s even a movement that says that if we simplify our lives, then we will be happy. That may not be the case for those who take pleasure in juggling many things at once. The key is finding what works for the individual. What all these scenarios have in common is the false idea that “I’ll be happy when… [insert scenario here].”

omtimes.com

January B 2017 Edition

Your Perspective: What Does Happiness Look Like? The real question is: What does happiness look like for each of us and is it even possible to achieve? Without a personal definition of happiness, we float in fantasy land waiting for that vision to come forward so that we can be happy. The reality is that we already have at least fifty percent of the ingredients we need to achieve happiness. Our perception of them gets in the way. Their existence does not seem to fit what society tells us equates to happiness, so we perceive them as outside of the happiness equation. Going on the premise that we have created everything in our lives, there must be some components that we want to maintain.

Aspects of Life that Lead to Fulfillment Exercise: To find out, clear every obstacle to happiness from your mind. Knowing that you could create joy any way you want, what aspects of your current life would you keep? omtimes.com

Certain relationships? Pets? Work? What in your life currently gives you a sense of fulfillment? If you say none, then it is time to clear the slate and start clean. But most of us would say that they would keep their loved ones, their personal traditions, or their hobbies. Take stock of the things that currently exist in your life that make you feel valued, fulfilled, and inspired. Those are the aspects of your life that lead to happiness. Include these in your vision. Now to create a broader vision of what life would look like to achieve sustainable happiness. This does not mean that there will not be moments of anger, frustration, or sadness. It does mean that over the course of time, the sense of happiness is maintained deep within the core. A life built upon selfawareness allows for the person to live according to their true nature. For example, if the individual prefers a quiet, calm environment, then working in the city or going out to loud venues would not result in happiness. But if everyone else is going there, then the individual may go just to be

January B 2017 Edition

with those they care about. That is okay once in a while, but finding relationships and circumstances that align with personal tendencies results in greater satisfaction over time.

Change Our Perceptions to Create Greater Happiness Additionally, changing the way we view circumstances and how we perceive the world is critical to create happiness. We filter everything through our own belief system. We create constructs of the world that are then applied to life experiences. These can enhance or diminish the level of happiness we experience. The way we perceive circumstances – whether they originate within the self, outside of the self, or because of divine will – leads to fulfillment or frustration. When we gain control over our reactions, we have a greater opportunity to create the life we want to have.

omtimes.com

Dump the fear, helplessness, and hopelessness. Determine what happiness means and ways to get aligned with it. Get rid of the wish list filled with “stuff” and strive for an enriching way of being. It is time to evaluate beliefs, circumstances, and our vision for the ideal life. Defining who we are at the core and what we want brings clarity in how to achieve and maintain happiness.

Do You Know Why You’re a People-Pleaser? by Marcia Sirota

Maybe you’re someone who tries hard to make others happy; someone who is careful not to do or say anything that might upset anyone; someone who avoids confrontation at all costs.

We all need to be loving and respectful to one-another. That’s what will make the world a better place. When you neglect your own feelings and needs, however, you get into a state of imbalance in which everyone is benefiting from your kindness except you.

Maybe you’re someone who anticipates the needs of the people around you and who does your best to meet these needs, even at your own expense. If these descriptions remind you of yourself, you’ll want to continue reading this post, if only to understand what made you become such a peoplepleaser, today.

Making the World a Better Place, One Person at a Time Of course, it’s good to be kind, considerate and thoughtful. It’s good to be caring and generous, helpful and supportive to others.

Ideally, you want to fill yourself up with positive selfregard and have that self-love overflow outward, onto the other people in your life. In this way, the love and care you give to others comes from a state of inner fullness.

Saying No to Confrontation and Yes to Happiness Constantly depleting yourself is likely to make you unhappy, perhaps even resentful, as everyone you’re in contact with is receiving your support while you’re receiving very little.

Omtimes.com

People who are invested in pleasing tend to hate confrontation, so you’re likely to be uncomfortable expressing anger. Ultimately, your unhappiness and resentment can grow, leading to anxiety, depression, or even self-comforting addictions.

who, for whatever reason, weren’t able to instill in you the belief that you were lovable and valuable, just as you are, you could be convinced today that you need to “do something” in order to be loved and validated by others.

There’s a simple explanation for why a person becomes overly nice. It comes from messages you received in childhood from the people who took care of you. These messages let you know that if you wanted love, attention and validation, you had to “earn” these things.

People who are overly “nice” are dependent on others for their sense of self-worth; they’re convinced that if other people are angry at them or disappointed with them, it means that they’re “bad” or “inadequate.”

Validation and Feeling Loved are Important Every child needs to be loved unconditionally and cared for by people who ask for nothing in return, but some parents or care-givers are unable to provide their children with these basic emotional necessities. If you grew up with adults

Omtimes.com

A vicious circle can be created with people who are too nice, especially when they’re interacting with individuals who are hyper-aware of the power dynamics in relationships.

Nice People Can Feel Hurt and Disrespected These “power-players” will perceive the need to please as a sign of weakness. They will be hurtful, disrespectful

or even abusive to the nice person. Often, this just reinforces the pleaser’s belief that they should try even harder to make the other person like them. Often, the more the pleaser tries to be nice, the more they’re met with disrespect, so they try even harder to please, which just encourages the other person to treat them that much worse. In this vicious circle, resentment grows. If it leads to passive-aggression or emotional outbursts, the pleaser will become mortified by their own “bad” behavior. They also will redouble their efforts to be “nice.” The truth is that the nicer you are, the more likely it is that other people will, at best, take advantage of your attempts to please and, at worst, treat you with real contempt.

It is Possible to Turn Things Around

Instead of finding love and approval you’ll feel devalued, exploited, or abused. Instead of making you feel happy, pleasing others will almost always make you angry and upset. In my next post, you’ll learn how you can let go of your habit of people-pleasing and instead, become someone who’s kind. Being kind means feeling empowered in life, being assertive and setting good limits. It means that if you do care for others, it’s never at the expense of your own self-care. 4 Tips for Helping Your Children Feel More Secure About Wearing Glasses by Dixie Somers

Are You Someone Who Struggles with Glasses?

1. Share Famous People Who Wear Glasses

While there are many people who wear glasses proudly, there are others who struggle with the four-eyed stigma. Many people remember childhood and how children were so mean to those who wore glasses. As a child, it may be difficult to deal with the glasses requirement. However, as a parent, there are things you can do to help your children feel more secure about wearing glasses.

Sit down at the computer and pull up pictures of famous people who wear glasses. You might want to look at your child’s favorite television shows and find people who wear glasses. It’s also a great idea to look at some of their favorite musicians, artists and cartoon characters. Show them people who have made major contributions to the world (Nobel Peace Prize winners,

Omtimes.com

scientists, politicians, etc.) and show how cool it can really be to wear glasses. 2. Put It in Their Subconscious Mind A great way to put the glasses in their subconscious mind is by making sure the artwork in their bedroom features people wearing glasses. Fun artwork with prints of glasses might be nice as well. If glasses are a visible feature in the rooms at home, this might help reinforce the idea that glasses are normal and that many people wear them. There’s no need to feel ashamed by them. 3. Turn It into an Experience When it’s time to go shopping for glasses, make it a fun experience. As a tradition, you can schedule a date when you all go out and get pizza. Then, go shopping for glasses at a provider near you. Allow your child to pick out the pair that suits them well. Brightly colored glasses are fun and can really reflect the child’s personality. 4. Get Your Own Pair In a lot of cases, children want to be just like their parents. Even if you don’t need glasses, try

wearing a fun pair of personality glasses. You can take them off whenever you’re not around your child. Daughters usually adore their fathers and sons love their mothers. The parent that’s doted on the most can wear the glasses. However, it’s a great idea for parents to show solidarity and wear pairs together. If a child sees that they’re not alone in what they must wear, they’ll feel a sense of solidarity and support. This will help them feel more secure about wearing glasses in the long run.

Overcome the Stigma of Wearing Glasses Glasses are fun, cool and versatile. If you take a great approach to wearing glasses, your child will eventually follow suit. Before long, they’ll be able to confidently wear frames for the world to see. About the Author Dixie Somers is a freelance writer who loves to write for health and women’s interests. Relationships The interconnectiveness among all human beings and, consequently, the relationships among us are the focus of this section. The dynamics of the web of connections we make is one of the most prominent aspects of human existence: how we interlace with each other’s existence in a meaningful way.

4 Tips in Communicating to Build Lasting Relationships by Colby Psychic Rebel

Do You Want to Build Lasting Relationships? As the year ends, we are all reminded of our accomplishments, setbacks and the disappointments we have experienced throughout the year. We may have lost old friends, gained new friends. Some of us either moved forward or struggled with

Omtimes.com

failure in what we had hoped to achieve when initially setting our New Year’s resolutions’. Understanding that no year is a “perfect year” and not every moment is of “absolute bliss” can help us adjust and adapt to the flow of energy that each year embodies. There will always be peaks and valleys and when we can view these both as equally important, we can move forward freely. For each experience serves a purpose. When we hurt it’s easy to blame. Pointing a finger at the other person or situation alleviates our pain. Somehow, deflecting any personal responsibility justifies the demise in the relationship. We may even try to get others on our side. We tell our tale in hopes that they will empathize with us and comfort us in our time of self-pity.

An Open Heart is Key to Lasting Relationships Yet, the true sign of a spiritual being is one that can continuously open their heart and listen to those they hurt. Seeing both sides of a story is simply not enough, for we may

still try to “prove” our point. Yet, when we can open the gate of conversation then we can understand the underlying feelings of others. This is when understanding, compassion and empathy can occur. People get hurt and they shut down. They create these false scenarios and build emotional blocks based on perception, not on reality. Reality is not just one point of view. Reality is ALL points of view. It is the panorama of the experience. When we can love from this vantage point, the view is beautiful. We can then see that we are all one, and when one hurts, we all hurt. So many times, people throw away relationships, friendships and jobs based on perception and not on reality.

Communicating and Social Media In the day and age of social media, we have become afraid of being open to a conversation in which both people can sit, without judgement, and listen openly and freely. We are so quick to jump in and not even let the other person finish their sentence. Omtimes.com

Perhaps we have become so afraid of rejection that it is easier to be the first to reject. If we are to be live happier and more fulfilling lives, we must build our relationships. When we can make the effort to understand how our actions or words have hurt another, we begin to heal ourselves and build better, lasting relationships.

4 Tips in Communication to Build Lasting Relationships 1. Listen Openly. When we can listen to our partner, friend, family member or boss with an open mind and open heart, we can begin the healing process. When listening, we want to be mindful of any facial expressions or gestures. The person talking has been impacted in some way by our words or actions and if we care about this relationship, then we should respect and honor the person enough to simply listen without judgement. Sometimes the person speaking may work through the issues by simply saying them aloud, other times; it’s having the ability to share

Omtimes.com

without the threat of losing the relationship that is the healing factor desperately needed. 2. Avoid Allies. When we hurt, we may look for supporters. We find ourselves sharing our story with anyone who will listen to gain compassion and empathy. When we can sit in our own feelings and allow ourselves to process them, we learn that the support we need comes from within. By avoiding the water cooler conversation, we are avoiding drama. We will begin the healing process simply by giving ourselves the time and space needed to process our feelings internally. 3. Make an Effort. Instead of venting our situation out to the world, we should go directly to the source and ask for a conversation. With the popularity of social media, it has become second nature to post, blog or tweet our feelings without first going directly to the person to see if there is a misunderstanding that can easily be resolved

by engaging in an open conversation. People have forgotten how to talk through their feelings and have become too eager to hit the delete, unfollow or unlike button.

If we keep throwing away relationships haphazardly and create false accusations of jealousy, greed or unsupportiveness we fail to be that friend we want in someone else.

4. Release Perception. We all have a perception. However, our perception can hinder the highest-good of a relationship simply because we will create all the actions to fulfill that point of view. Our minds need to justify the perception so that we feel “right” in viewpoint, yet we have lost the way to see the other side. When we can open our perception, we can then see how the other person might feel or have interpreted the actions. Although this may not resolve the issues that are plaguing the relationship, we can at least walk away with a better sense of understanding. The least we can do it listen to someone we care about. It’s easy to throw away relationships, but when we try to communicate we might just find that there’s a simple misunderstanding at hand.

If we don’t find ways to work through our disagreements, we will only end up alone. Even in our Tribe, we may find misunderstandings. We are all unique and different and at some point, we will all face a disagreement within a relationship. How we approach the situation is what will define our relationships in life and in the end, define who we are as a Tribe. Stop Struggling – 10 Tarot Cards to Move You Forward by Lisa Shaw

Struggling Can Lead to Blame and Strife Often, the external chaos we witness reflects of our own internal strife, connecting us to the world’s pain. In fact, it may be the opposite: the seeds

Omtimes.com

of our discontent lie deep within us and we conveniently shift blame to others. Maybe life isn’t going right.

choices. The Tarot deck contains 78 powerful cards, but these 10 make visible our inner conflicts.

We knock on locked doors: applying for elusive jobs, seeking moves without luck, stagnating in relationships, feeling alienated. Maybe we hit one rockier patch, or feel taken advantage of yet again. Then we see a therapist to help us identify our own roles in these situations or consult a medium for angelic guidance. But, ultimately, we are responsible for identifying and releasing the causes of our discomfort.

Meditate on These 10 Tarot Cards for Added Insight

Reflect on 10 Tarot Cards in the Tarot Deck The traditional Tarot deck proves useful for such reflection. We needn’t be experienced readers to use the cards therapeutically. Insight and free association helps us glean meaning so we can address our subconscious

Meditate on each card, keeping your eyes relaxed. Your emotional intelligence will provide the answers you need. 1. Eight of Swords: imprisonment. A blindfolded, bound woman stands amid eight swords, her feet in a puddle. Behind her stands a castle on a cliff. Who is confining you? What do you not want to see? Who blindfolded her? Who’s in the castle? What emotional pattern placed you here? 2. Six of pentacles: abandonment. A woman and young boy on crutches crouch in the night, shoeless, walking against falling snow past

Omtimes.com

an illuminated church. Who has abandoned or neglected you? Why don’t you enter the place of refuge? Who in sent you into emotional exile or poverty? 3. Five of swords: conflict. Two teams of young boys clash with sticks. What caused this fight? Is it with more than one person? Where is the conflict? Is it worth the fight? Is it life choice or circumstance? 4. Eight of cups: changing course. A man leaves behind a two-row stack of eight goblets. He holds a staff and in the moonlight sets begins a journey. What do you want to leave? Why do you feel about what you have already accumulated or accomplished? Why do you want change direction? 5. Six of swords: moving on. A hooded woman and young child leave the shore in a small wooden boat piloted by a young man. The boat is

Omtimes.com

pierced with six swords. The water behind her is choppy; the water ahead, smooth. The woman appears sorrowful. What is on the other side of this water? What or whom are you leaving? How are you supported in this venture? What awaits you? 6. He Devil: detaching. A giant devil on a throne sits over a standing man and woman who are chained to his chair. What is your role in causing the current situation? To whom are you chained? To what are you attached? When did you abandon your higher ideals to submit to someone else’s program? From what do you need to free yourself? 7. The Tower: exploding. A fiery eruption in a tower causes two people to fall out the window surrounded by blaze. Which crisis shakes the foundation of your world? Why did you wait for the Universe to completely unsettle you before you made

a move? Are you willing to accept this trauma as a gift? 8. Death: ending. A skeleton in armor rides a white horse toward three people: a religious figure with cupped open hands, a child with a horn, and a woman. Two of them welcome him. The woman closes her eyes and looks away. To begin anew, we must end the old. What do you need to close in your life and are you willing to do it? Is there a chapter you do not want to close? What loss do you fear? 9. The Hanged Man: sacrificing. A man hangs painlessly upside down from a T-shaped pole, rope around his ankle, hands behind his back, halo above his head. What are you willing to sacrifice for growth and enlightenment? Are you willing to completely change perspective even if it’s momentarily uncomfortable? What will you sacrifice for joy?

10. The Fool: leaping forward. A young man, looking upward, flower in his hand, carrying all his worldly possessions, faithful dog alongside him, is about to leap off a cliff into the unknown. Are you ready to move on? Do you trust the Universe to support you in this adventure? Which of your most cherished gifts will you bring? The images found in the tarot deck stimulate subtle levels of awareness, helping us to recognize higher messages. This is where change and healing begin. About the Author Rev. A Message for Lightworkers: 2017 Starts a New Nine-Year Cycle by Melanie Collins

A Reflection First on 2016 2016 was a challenging year for us all; whether this was on a personal level or a global one. One of the contributing spiritual factors for this was because 2016 (2 + 0 + 1 + 6 = 9) was a ‘9’ year

Omtimes.com

and according to the ancient spiritual practice of numerology everything works on a nine-year cycle. It is said that each number from 1-9 holds a specific universal vibration and a spiritual meaning. Therefore, 2016 was the last year of a very long, nine-year cycle, bringing up old karmic imprints and negative patterns to be cleared and healed.

The Struggles Lead to Healing and Renewal Many Lightworkers have particularly struggled this past year, the Universe has deliberately pushed us to do the Soul work needed to heal our own personal wounding, clear karmic residues and break old patterns of behavior. We have had to recognize and undo the egoic conditioning that keeps us small, stops us from being authentic or imprisons us with self-limiting beliefs. We do this deep inner healing to prepare us for the next important stage of our soul work.

As Lightworkers we are here to bring Light into the Darkness. But, this means we have to shine the light into the dark recesses of our own soul first. From a vibrational level, anything that wasn’t in alignment with our soul energy or wasn’t for our highest good had to be released or come to an end. This has been part of a bigger plan to get us into vibrational alignment with the new frequencies. These will help to bring about the shift in human consciousness to a more heart centered way of living.

Frustrations and Old Karmic Energy A lot of personal or professional goals, hopes, dreams or wishes have not come to fruition for Lightworkers in 2016, particularly if these intentions were set during the vibrational energies of that universal ‘9’ year. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have been asking for or working towards the wrong goals, but these

Omtimes.com

old karmic energies may have sabotaged your future success. Therefore, you may have faced a series of setbacks or found certain things have been put on hold because of the Universal Law of Divine Timing.

What Does 2017 Have in Store? So, what has 2017 got in store for Lightworkers? First, the great news is it’s a universal ‘1’ year. This means that not only is it the start of a brand new nine-year cycle, but it is all about new beginnings and new creative expressions. It’s about self-empowerment, leadership and unity on a spiritual level. The new 2017 energies mean it is time to set your new intentions in the universal ‘1’ year energies. These intentions hold within an entirely different vibrational frequency compared to the year ‘9’ energies of last year. So, whatever was put on hold or was a work in progress in 2016, will now gather

Omtimes.com

momentum. It can come to fruition if we focus on achieving our goals this year.

Letting Your Light Shine in this Nine-Year Cycle 2017 is also a year to let your own light shine and to take bold steps forward. So, set your new intentions right now, within the vibrational frequency of positivity and excitement. This will be a brand-new nine-year cycle in your life. It’s time to move in the direction of your dreams and make them happen! About the Author Melanie Collins is a Writer, Healer, Angelic Channel and Spiritual Teacher. Break Through the Barrier Between You and True Peace by Guy Finley

Do You Wish to Find True Peace? If we wish to find true peace, we must understand something of its life. Here are a few such facts: Peace is the natural radiation of a living Now; it

Omtimes.com

is one with that Light whose life is the eternal present itself, even as the emanations of light and warmth are one with the sun from which they radiate. If our intuition can perceive that the above ideas are based in truth, then we should be naturally moved to ask the following question: If this peace we long for is inherent in this perfectly present moment we call the “Now,” what is it that keeps us from knowing the fulfillment of its promise within us? Let’s look.

The Happening of Our Days Through even casual observation, we can see that the primary governing body of our present self seems to be a mental and emotional construct whose sole occupation in life seems to be an ongoing consideration of what was and what will be. This activity amounts to what we experience as an endless weighing of our past and subsequent planning of

our future. Stated in another way, our lives are currently made up of what we name for ourselves as being good days or bad days. Of course, these “good” and “bad” days are labeled as such based on how they measure up to our desired expectations. Good days “happen” when we get what we desire, and bad days are . . . well, you know!

True Peace and Earthly Expression Now, one of the strange features about this present nature of ours is that even on “good” days-when we manage to achieve what we desire and feel a sense of satisfactionthis conditional peace often turns against us. Triumph becomes a kind of torment as we end up fearing we will lose the thing just gained. Poof goes our peace! We have another nature, one whose life and whose peace are the same character. This order of Self, and the Now that is the backdrop of its being, are as

Omtimes.com

the branch is to the life-giving vine. No true peace can survive apart from this relationship. Any other form of peace is its earthly expression. But to make the point: No order, no peace. Order is peace. This peace confounds the lower level of mind that only knows stillness by what it imagines its qualities to be. The mind asleep to itself cannot conceive how its own images of winning in life deny it the victory over life for which it longs. To know peace and its promise, we must release ourselves from this sleeping self that is always struggling to put pieces of peace together in the vain hope they will stay united!

Sewing Together the Pieces of Peace We have all tried sewing pieces of peace together, thinking through what we

Omtimes.com

must do to rid ourselves of whatever nags at us. You know the dialogue one is ever having with oneself: “Hopefully this career change will make things better; maybe going to the gym will get my love life going; once I make him understand my point of view. . ..” “As soon as” becomes the chant and the source of our confidence. We all know how this goes. The chattering is as endless as one’s fear of feeling empty. And the more of these “pieces of peace” we juggle, the more anxious we become, all the while hoping that life won’t break up what we would assemble. Even though this approach has proven itself fruitless, still we cling to the hope that next time things will be different. What we must see is that our lives cannot change until we do-from the inside out.

In the Search for True Peace To succeed in our quest, we need a new and higher understanding of our own being. For this true peace that we seek resides within us; it is not to be found anywhere else, which leads us to the next step in our search. To enter the silent world of peace requires that we learn the secret of being still. We must discover and enter our own still being. The task before us is not an easy one, but we are not asked to make this journey without a guide. Before us goes the Light of Truth. It reveals the Way by opening our eyes to see among other truths, that the peace we seek is not a thing created by us. We learn that admission into its celestial kingdom is by mutual consent only, even though this peace agrees to

no terms other than its own. It makes the rules, not us. Yet we are eventually made grateful for these unyielding laws, for whatever soul agrees to bend its will to these terms of eternal peace not only finds God’s peace revealed, but also that this providence has now become a permanent presence within his or her heart. “Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” ~ Thomas Jefferson Life is a mystery; its challenges, many. What is the essence of motivation in your life? How do you keep yourself going

Omtimes.com

when you begin to droop a bit? Here are some suggestions to keep you fresh and moving forward away from stress, away from indecision, away from lack of decisiveness, away from gloom.

Ways to Keep Your Motivation Going Find Ways to Smile More Give smiles to your work associates, your children, your boss, your customers, total strangers, even. You know how good an acknowledging smile means to you, so why not extend that great feeling to others. You’ll end up feeling more motivated. Focus Without Distractions You have to clear the deck of all distractions so your focus can be laser pointed and your work filled with the spirit of inspiration. Have a list of #1 Priority and #2 Priority before you begin, so you don’t waste time figuring out what to do after you’re pointed. This way, your day’s work will be optimized by doing the right things from the right sweet spot.

Explore New Ways, New Paths, New Methods Have you ever danced while washing the dishes? Why not? Have you ever worn black glasses with phony eyebrows and fake noses and looking at kids in school buses as you drive past? You’ll love their astonishment. Don’t let yourself get stuck in a rut. Mix things up into a new order. It helps us stretch and open our creativity. It’s how you nurture your soul and encourage it to grow. Ask for Assistance Do you like to help people? They like to help you. So, don’t hesitate to ask for help if you’re weary, puzzled, or out of ideas. It will inject freshness into the idea and you’ll feel loved. It’s a small bit, but an important one. Know What Motivates You There’s a lengthy discussion about writing with music playing or writing in silence. I prefer silence and music is distracting while I’m writing. Take a look at what motivates you while you’re working.

Omtimes.com

Moms, can you play music while you’re cleaning house for the peppiness of it? Do you love entering your office and smelling a favorite fragrance? Does your desk face toward the out of doors? Whatever motivates you should be indulged because you’ll become more efficient at your work when you do. Get Comfortable with Saying “No.” You never have to offer anyone a reason for your good reason for saying “No” even if they ask you. Practice this one a lot until you get comfortable because you have discovered the world didn’t come screeching to a halt when you said “No.” You can thank them nicely for their offer, or you can provide some other option to solve the situation. “No, I’m not the best one to head that project, but I know Marcia would be great at it and would love the challenge.” Pace Yourself You’ve only got 24 hours and your energy – while it can

Omtimes.com

be renewed along the way – should be respected. You can prioritize tasks to coincide with your high-energy points. Mine is in the morning. Take a five-minute walk around the property where you work to get some fresh air and shake the cobwebs out. Your energy will renew itself. Late afternoons are a great time to put this into place. Maximizing your time and your processes motivates and allows you to keep taking those steps forward, regardless of their size. Empower Girls Break the Cycle of Dependence

The number one reason girls drop out of school in Sub-Saharan Africa is lack of access to feminine hygiene products. The Pads for Schoolgirls Project, an outreach of Humanity Healing International, is changing this paradigm by setting up sewing programs at schools, teaching girls a vocational skill, while producing the reusable pads that help keep them attending classes. The girls pay it forward by making and giving pad kits to other girls in need. To learn more, visit humanityhealing.org
