JILL MATTSON
Can we perceive the sounds and vibrations of the universe, of everything? And if we can, how can we benefit from this in body, mind, and spirit? Jill Mattson, has the answer to these questions. Jill is an accomplished artist, musician, lecturer and author. She's a recording artist with numerous CDs using ancient and modern sound healing techniques. Her Deep Wave Beauty CD was a finalist for the Coalition of Visionary Resources Specialty CD of 2012.
OMTIMES.COM
Jill Mattson has authored several sound healing books and lectures throughout the United States on the topic of sound, spirit, and matter. She draws on her extensive research of modern sound healing and a 20year study of antiquities and secret societies to show the incredible power and healing capabilities of sound.
And she's the author of the awardwinning book The Untold Story of How Music Shaped Our World. We're so pleased to have you with us.
Jill Mattson: I went on a spiritual quest, a midlife spiritual quest after reading the Old Testament. And being quite upset with God's moodiness and some of his intent and actions, I decided that whatever you perceived God to be had a reflection on who you were. So, if I had a mean and angry, judgmental God, then that would reflect on who I was. So, I went on a quest, a spiritual quest to find the most beautiful, highest, loving God I could. And since I started being dissatisfied with the Old Testament, I went to the Serpentine Version and quickly ended up in the Kabbalah. Shortly after that, I ended up in the ancient Samarian mysteries and like, ooh-la-la. The ancient world used sound for everything. It was a toolbox. And the idea that sound as entertainment to them would be such a dangerous idea that people could not understand that we ingest sound and they change us. And we're like lambs to the slaughter. We don't think about what we listen to or are exposed to, and it makes a huge difference. So, my life is all about changing the way the world perceives sound and music, for it's a powerful tool, and it can make our life so much better with careful use.
Victor Fuhrman: Let's talk about you to begin our little conversation tonight. How did your journey of discovery begin?
OMTIMES.COM
Victor Fuhrman: What secrets did the ancients know about energy, matter, and sound? Jill Mattson: I think the better question almost would be what secrets didn't they
know. In the beginning, when I read the new stories about the ancient masters, there's a lot coming out that hasn't hit our textbooks yet. That's because they're just translating cuneiform. They're just really digging into what the Egyptian papyri are saying. They're just translating the Incas and the Mayans and the Aztecs. This stuff is new. There's a host of stuff out on the ancient cultures of Lemuria and Atlantis that's not channeled but is referred to in these ancient historical writings. They describe these early beings almost not homo sapiens. I would say that they're more like an elf or a fairy or not quite so solid, more of a group soul. And they have access to interpreting a greater range of the electromagnetic spectrum. But, these ancient people had different sources. They were highly clairvoyant, highly clairaudient. I like to think of Sharry Edwards today with her extraordinary hearing like a dolphin or Donna Eden who can look at your circulation and organs in your body through her clairvoyance. This is the type of beings they're describing in these early races. So, are these people gonna use words for communication? Well, probably not. They use them--sounds, vibrations, energies, the whole spectrum for different purposes. They're using sound for practical purposes, for health, for strength, for warfare, to grow your garden, to rehabilitate a criminal, just stuff that we would never even think of. OMTIMES.COM
Victor Fuhrman: Some of what you're referring to is known as subtle energy. What is subtle energy, and how does it work, and how does it affect us? Jill Mattson: Loosely speaking, subtle energy would be quantum energy, quantum energy or tiny packets of energy. So, like if you're, you know, feeling something and you notice just a tiny little feeling, that would be subtle energy. It's just a little tiny packet of energy. With our outlook or perception today, most people don't notice. But, it builds up. And I'd like you to think of this example. Think of the Colorado River, and the water flows down, and it, of course, bends to the shape of the rocks. So, you'd say, hmm, rocks roll. But, then you look up at the Grand Canyon. No, water rolls. Because of the consistency over time, that little trickle of that subtle water slowly shapes the rocks. And that's like subtle energy, constantly changing us, constantly influencing us very powerful. Victor Fuhrman: In your amazing book, The Lost Waves of Time, you discuss the idea of involution and evolution as they relate to matter and spirit. Please share with our listeners the significance of involution and evolution. Jill Mattson: I made up the world involution to distinguish between the evolution of physical matter from Darwin and the evolution of a soul or consciousness. And I believe that the path of consciousness starts out as all
that is or God, and through the different epics and the different time periods, you can see that the subtle energy forces tombs, these beams, and they become further from God. And you can watch the music in each culture, look at the mathematics underneath the music and see it making them more individual, further away from God. And then, of course, music can take us back on the fast track, as well. And my theory that I present in The Lost Waves of Time is that we do this because we're gods growing up, we're children of God, and we're growing up. We're learning to be responsible, to make our own choices. We're learning what it feels like to be all on our own and how to take charge of situations. And I believe that that's why people incarnate. And as the music takes us further and further from God, we learn skills and strengths and how to master matter, the heaviest, densest of energy. And then when we evolve in our spirit and consciousness to be more connected with all that is, we take back all these new skills. So, I'm excited about that thought. Victor Fuhrman: That is a fascinating concept. Is this something that goes on lifetime after lifetime? Jill Mattson: I believe so. Victor Fuhrman: How do numbers relate to energy and sound?
OMTIMES.COM
Jill Mattson: The ancient man believed that all is a number. And in fact, that's a famous quote from Pythagoras, and it-the same quote will be found in the ancient Chinese, the ancient Egyptians, etc. They believed that the higher use of numbers was energy. And our mathematics today, they would call the vulgar use of numbers. At any rate, think of the number one as like being all by yourself, standing on your own, being alone and how that feels. And then think about being in a relationship, you know, two, a couple and how that feels. And then just kind of let your feelings wander to the difference between three people in a relationship father, mother, child. So, numbers were the root of creation, and ancient man likened the universe something to our string theory today, and they discussed different worlds or dimensions having different tunings. So, in different consciousness, different patterns of numbers created different things in matter. And so, understanding the numbers was the understanding of the most basic building blocks of creation in the universe. And if you look at the Samarian mysteries, very, very old, the cradle of society on some of the oldest stuff we've got written today, their gods are gods of numbers because the number represents energy and that energy through resonance. Victor Fuhrman: Some of this was expressed in ancient Sanskrit writings
and then taken by Fibonacci and expressed in his number sequence, the Fibonacci Numbers and in the Golden Mean or the Golden Ratio. Please share how that evolved. Jill Mattson: The Ancient man could liken God to creating the world with sound. And let's say you have an old Etch-A-Sketch. That's a toy where you try to draw, and you only have two knobs. And one knob makes a curved line. Yet, the other knob makes a straight line. So, the Fibonacci Pattern of Numbers, they used a different type of geometry than we do. But, the Fibonacci Pattern of Numbers creates that gorgeous spiral in the night sky. It's in a bee hive. It's in tens of thousands of times in your body. It's in almost every flower, every tree you see. If God had a favorite pattern, it was the Fibonacci Pattern of Numbers. And when you take two of those numbers and divide them by each other, you get five. And then factor Etch-A-Sketch illustration, the other little tab or button you could manipulate would create a straight line would be the Solfeggio tones. The ancient singers that I talked about carried these stories down from generation to generation. When people hear these ancient number, patterns expressed as frequencies or cycles per second, certain patterns light your aura up full of white light, and so what does that mean?
OMTIMES.COM
Well, the white light's the component of the rainbow of colors. So, if you have a crystal and white light goes through it, you see the rainbow on the wall. And likewise, white light becomes the building blocks of everything. So, they would see that certain number patterns fill you up full of white light, and there are methods today with software that you can look at all the frequencies in the body. And when you're healthy, you have every frequency there is, every cycle per second within a broad range is in your body. When you are sick, you're missing a lot of frequencies. So, health equates to white light, perfect health. And emotional balance equates to white light. And all these kinds of things that really like equate to all that is or mastery of all the frequencies and having all the frequencies.
How did you get involved in sound healing? Jill Mattson: As I said, it was a spiritual quest, and it was a 20, 25-year period. The ancients perceived that this was very powerful information. You could control people's thoughts, health. I mean, what could be more powerful? So, they encoded it, and it took me probably that full time to figure out all the basics of how they altered all energy through the periscope of sound. The sound shapes. It's easy. It's malleable. You can observe effects. I mean, it's so conducive to understanding all that is.
Victor Fuhrman: So what we're saying if I can extrapolate and go back to the origin, is that God, the divine, the creator is a master mathematician, a master singer, and a master speaker. Jill Mattson: Yes. And in the beginning, it was the word, there you go, yes. Victor Fuhrman: And everything created, it's almost as if it's a computer program because the number sequences are so perfect and beautiful. Jill Mattson: Correct. Victor Fuhrman: And as they chant in turn, perform chanting or kirtan, that energy is reinforced by the structure that they're dwelling within. So, what are some of the roots of your sound healing? OMTIMES.COM
And so, as I studied through these 25 years, I would learn a secret from the Egyptians, for example. And that secret might help me understand what the Chinese were kind of dancing around or to crack a code in another ancient society. Victor Fuhrman: Now, all of us have had the experience of hearing a piece of music and being touched by it, bringing us to tears or bringing us to a rapturous sensation. How do sounds relate to our emotions? Jill Mattson: Each emotion in your body is an exact frequency. Love always feels the same because it is the same cycles per second. So, if I create that inner-frequency, I'm gonna start to resonance, I'm gonna generate that inside you. Remember, energy transfers on the same frequency.
Victor Fuhrman: Now how do sounds relate now to our physical bodies? Let's go into the actual physical body itself. Jill Mattson: Everything in your physical body is energy, and it vibrates. And there is equipment today that can count the cycles per second of everything. And in the human body, your organs have a frequency when they're healthy that's consistent. It's the same with your bones and your muscles.
sounds would have evolved as the human body evolved. But, ahh to me is a good vowel sound because you can feel it just massaging the heart. Victor Fuhrman: Jill, we were talking about healing, but let's talk a little bit more about some of the concepts that you discuss in The Lost Waves of Time. For example, you say that music is everywhere. How can we learn to listen for and hear that music?
Today, you can even go to an orthopedic doctor, and he can give you a little box that has a frequency of your bone. And through resonance remember the violin, so energy transfers--the frequency of a healthy bone is transferred to you by listening, and you can take your time to heal that broken bone in half. The ancient Egyptians were doing that. This is a very, very old technique. Victor Fuhrman: In ancient Sanskrit, in Hindu practices, we talk about root sounds or “Bijam” and each of these relating to one of the organs. This is something like that. For example, for the heart, as we what would be the actual sound that's chanted for the heart? Jill Mattson: I chant “ahh” because that's been used in most of the ancient mystery schools. And you'll find that sometimes a mystery school might modify the vowel sound a little bit. And I believe that's because each culture would have had characteristic different health problems. So, you know, the OMTIMES.COM
Jill Mattson: When I say music is everywhere, I'm talking about everything is energy, and energy expresses the cycles per second or frequency. Now, we won't hear it all. For example, plants have little vibrations, and you can record them and amplify them, and they're gorgeous. But, without the amplification, we don't hear them. Same with the night sky, just gazing at the stars, yet, you know, go into a polluted section of town, and when you start having like GMOs in sound, if you will, it feels bad. So, I would say pay attention to your feelings.
Victor Fuhrman: So, in essence, anything can be affected by sound?
Victor Fuhrman: So, we do vibrate to each other then? Jill Mattson: You bet.
Jill Mattson: Yes, absolutely. And it's slow, meaning subtle, small quantities, but we're surrounded. You can play my “Healing Flower Symphonies” and sleep with them, and you ingest sound while you're sleeping, and you can get the proper dosage to make a powerful transformation, and you can do it while you're sleeping.
Victor Fuhrman: And is there a vibration of love? Jill Mattson: Absolutely, every emotion--and the ancient people would put love as a category. Just like light, because crystal, when you see this gorgeous crystal, they would say there's a mother's love, there's romantic love, there's, you know, different types of love. So, they would break it out into like perhaps 12 divine attributes of love, and then they would tune to each and every one. Victor Fuhrman: And, Jill, where can our listeners get all of these wonderful books and CDs? Jill Mattson: jillswingsoflight.com.
Victor Fuhrman: Can we vibrate to one another? Jill Mattson: Absolutely. I find when I look at my frequencies, I'm not special in that I'm not a big white light. I'm like everybody else, and I just have a lot of blue. For me, I have a lot of blue and purples in my aura. And the mathematics--the balance of blue is orange, and you'll find most of my friends are orange. I mean, they literally complete me. They literally heal me. I'm attracted to them, yes.

Curry Leaves The pride and glory of South Indian cuisine, curry leaves are extensively used in spicy meat-based stir-fries, sambhar, rasam, upma, dosa filling and chutneys, among others. The rest of the Subcontinent also uses it as tadka for dals. Its sharp flavor works wonders to lend character to a dish, and it teams very well with spices, especially black pepper. are believed to help prevent cancer and kidney stones.
Bay Leaves
Pudina (Mint)
This aromatic leaf is widely known for its medicinal properties. In the kitchen, it is mainly used to tune up the flavor in dals, curries, biryani, rajma, chole, etc. The leaves are commonly available in the dried form. They are added to the dishes and left to simmer for an hour or so to extract its flavor, which otherwise is very mild. They are often discarded once the dish is ready as they are not meant for consumption. Fresh leaves are also available, and it is said that soaking them in water for a few hours and then drinking the water early morning could help keep a check on blood sugar level.
Pudina or mint is one of the most commonly used herbs in the kitchens. It is not just a powerhouse of medical properties, but the distinctive flavor lends to creating some spectacular dishes. The refreshing flavor of mint also makes it the obvious choice to shake juices during summers. It is also extensively used in marinades in curries.
Holy Basil Unlike the Italian or the Thai variants, the Indian basil is milder in flavor but is used to prepare a few dishes where
it lends a peppery zing such as in soups and stir-fries. It is not without reason that this herb is considered holy. In Ayurveda, it is known for its healing properties and used to treat some ailments - from fever, common cough and cold to respiratory disorder, heart disease, stress, skin infection, headaches, etc. A cup of freshly brewed Tulsi tea is believed to heal many diseases, boosting your immunity and providing you energy to carry out various tasks.
Methi (Fenugreek) Methi or fenugreek is another herb that is common in the Indian kitchen. However, not all are fans of its bitter flavor. It is used in dal, curries, stir-fries and as a filling in parathas. A popular dish in most Indian households is Methi Aloo, where the sweetness of the tuber and the bitter flavor of the greens pair beautifully to create a delightful treat. The Gujarati thepla is another
popular dish which is flatbread made with wheat flour, gram flour and methi leaves. It is usually eaten with chilli pickle. The trick to using methi leaves is balancing its flavor with the other ingredients. Both the dried and the fresh leaves are used in the preparation of the dishes. Methi helps keep a check on cholesterol and prevents the risk of heart disease and diabetes. It is rich in fiber, anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals, and aids in digestion. One teaspoon of methi seeds mixed into food can prevent acid reflux. It is always wonderful to discover healthier ingredients for some of our favorite meals. Have you tried any of these five Ayurveda herbs? You may wish to have them in your kitchen now, or for your garden in the spring. About the Author Source: http://www.remedyspot. com/

Principles of Breath in Ayurveda by IndiaDivine The Importance of Breath Techniques and Body Chemistry The movement of energy from one hemisphere to the other occurs simultaneously with the changes of breath from one nostril to the other. When the right nostril dominates, the left hemisphere dominates. When the left nostril dominates, so does the right hemisphere. As both nostrils operate, both hemispheres operate in unison. The simple act of changing the breath from one nostril to the other reverses brain hemisphere dominance; thus, altering chemical reactions taking place throughout the organism. Willful control of the pattern of breath enables conscious control of body chemistry. Omtimes.com
Emotional States, Body Energy, and Breath Pattern Human emotional states are the product of body chemistry. Changing the breath pattern changes body chemistry, and thus affects a change in the emotional state. Disease states are the product of body chemistry, and thus breath manipulation affects the prevention of disease if done at the onset of symptoms. Knowledge and practice of the principles of breath science enable one to control his state of consciousness and prevent disease states.
Synchronizing the Nostrils (Swar Yoga): Knowledge of the play of breath in the nostrils forms the basis of the ancient discipline of Swar Yoga (literally, “unification through breath), heretofore virtually unknown even in its native India. The founders and developers of this science observed the play of breath and the resulting changes in body state and consciousness. What follows are
their most significant and useful findings, information with which anyone can synchronize his own inner rhythms with those of the cosmos: Helpful Findings on Using Individual Nostrils A) One does not breathe through both nostrils simultaneously except for very brief periods during the day. B) When one nostril is dominant, the other is recessive. C) The breath may be changed from one nostril to the other by lying down on the side of the operating nostril with a pillow placed under the ribcage (to stimulate nerves which play an important role in breath). Change, in healthy organisms, occurs within three to ten minutes. D) When the right nostril operates, body chemistry is predominantly acidic (the stomach produces more gastric acid during this time), and more inner heat is produced. This nostril should never be used for meditation, urination or drinking liquids. Omtimes.com
E) When the left nostril operates, body chemistry is predominantly alkaline. This nostril cools the system and should never be used for eating, bathing or defecating. The Use of Different Nostrils & Their Effects F) To whatever degree possible, the left nostril should be operated during the day and the right between sunset and sunrise - except when specific jobs requiring the other nostril are undertaken. This synchronizes the organism with the type of energy most predominant on the planet. The day is more hot and solar, so the cooler nostril is used; and the reverse for the night. G) When both nostrils operate equally, body chemistry reaches a state of equilibrium suitable for no other jobs than meditation, chanting or yoga. This state normally occurs at the exact moments of sunrise and sunset and briefly during the transition from one nostril to the other (which occurs hourly in most individuals). H) The cycle of the breath is directly related to the ascending and descending cycles of the Moon.
Omtimes.com
I) On the morning following the darkest night (new moon) of the lunar cycle, the left nostril begins operating at the moment of sunrise and continues for one hour. This is true also for the second and third mornings. J) On the three consecutive mornings following the Full Moon night, the right nostril begins operating at sunrise, continuing for an hour. Operating the Nostrils and Learning to Find Balance K) When one nostril has operated for three successive mornings, the breath will switch to the other nostril for the next three mornings, subject to variances in the 28 1/2-day lunar cycle. L) When there is a disturbance in the natural cycle, and the proper nostril does not open, body chemistry becomes disturbed and physiological and psychological disturbances become more likely. M) A quick response to this imbalance can avert ill effects. Simply change the breath by the method outlined above. Resort to a cotton ball “plug if there is no change-over. So, under no
circumstances should one breathe through the mouth. N) Changing the breath at the first sign of any physical or mental disturbance furthermore prevents worsening of symptoms and promotes rapid recovery.
Nostrils, Jobs and Healing The left nostril is more suitable for all long-term peaceful activities not undertaken for immediate gain; as well as hard physical labor. The joint operation is appropriate only for concentration, meditation, worship, and chanting. Activities favorable to breathing through the left nostril: - building a house - starting a new business - charity - talking to one’s elders or superiors - drinking liquids - meeting and talking with friends and loved ones - gardening - entering a new house - getting married - playing music - meditating
- depositing money - entering a holy order - curing pain - reading or writing poetry - learning to read - curing sorrow and unconsciousness - making short journeys - practicing yoga, and - entering a new phase in one’s educational career Activities favorable to breathing through the right nostril: - bathing - boat trips - reading or writing books - courtship - debating - defecating - eating - giving inspiration to others - hard physical labor - removing anxiety and nervousness - learning musical compositions - sleeping - mastering religious texts - long journeys - hatha-yoga exercises About the Author Source: http://www.indiadivine. org/

Inspiring Positive Feelings by John Holland I know you often hear me talk about having positive affirmations to create the life of endless opportunities. Often, though, it is more than inspiring positive feelings. In this article, I wanted to talk about expressing your love and appreciation for your friends, family, colleagues, and loved ones.
Omtimes.com
We all forget those little words, whether it’s “thank you,” or “I appreciate you,” or “You mean a lot to me,” or even “I love everything about you!” There are many ways of expressing heartfelt gratitude and affection, whether it’s over a cup of coffee, or writing a letter, or a phone call. It is just a matter of finding the right words. When you do reach out, it often opens a floodgate of feelings and strengthens the bond between you, making them more authentic, more meaningful, more honest and, most importantly, more loving.
Inspiring Positive Feelings and Expressing Your Emotions By inspiring positive feelings and expressing your emotions, other people will get to know the real you. They will understand you and how you work, rather than secondguess what you may be feeling or thinking. They will
have a deeper understanding on a soul level. When you hesitate to let others know how you feel, it can lead to miscommunication or a feeling of disconnect, insofar that they might not realize how important they are in your life. You only have to watch someone’s face when you tell them openly and honestly how much they mean to you. You may come to realize the power of words and how those few words will inspire them to step forwards with renewed positivity in their life. To inspire positive feelings, you should start with yourself. It’s important to start from a place of happiness, self-confidence and compassion, tolerance, and understanding. You need to be sure that you’re prepared to taking action and pursue what you want to say and achieve, and what the outcome should look like once you’ve said what you want to say.

‘You better watch out; you better not cry; ya better not pout; I’m telling you why. Santa Claus is coming to town!’ Who is this jolly, generous, free-spirited and wise archetype who makes us all, from the youngest to the eldest, feel so warm and happy? And what is his magical touch, and why does

it bring us so much light, joy and presents, to boot? The Christmas season comes to us during the time that the Sun is traveling through the residential block of Sagittarius, that optimistic, hopeful, abundant, and wise energy ruled by the benevolent planet and guru Jupiter, who wishes nothing more than to bless us with all its many gifts.
Santa, the Sun, and the Christmas Season This is Santa! The wise, bearded man who brings us laughter, gaiety and fun after the darkness of the intense and transformational Scorpio. Santa brings us hope to experience the wishes and dreams we have for our lives. He is the generosity of our spirit wishing to spread its love over all lands and people. And really, during this time of year, we can truly “feel” the shift as we go to stores or walk the streets. People seem more joyful, loving, peaceful.
Smiles and words of good will are shared freely with every cup of hot chocolate ordered or bag of roasted chestnuts purchased. It doesn’t seem to matter what part of the World or in what culture one finds themselves, the joy of this season prevails. Is it coincidence that the Sun travels through the constellation of optimism, joy, giving and receiving during this time? No. The Sun never lies, especially when it finds itself in the sign of truth!
The Birth of Christ Consciousness within Us During Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, which was the birth of the Christ Consciousness within us all, the physical manifestation of the Creator brought to us through Jesus, the Christ. One could say that Jesus was one of the greatest metaphysicians of all times. And though many scholars have tried to put his life into words, it is something that cannot be intellectualized. Rather, it must

be felt through our own direct perception and experience. This Christ Consciousness is not about one religious belief system over another, but it is that which is in us all, regardless of cultural or religious background. This blessed gift of the Christ is for all creation! It does not discriminate. This is the gift that Jupiter and our favorite Centaurs, Sag, convey to us during this time, and since they rule over travel, foreign cultures, education, philosophy (like Santa!), we can use this energy to connect to the unity of the Christ Consciousness in all the world and in all people! This is the joy and celebration of Christmas throughout all the lands; the reconnection to our truth, our authentic self and not that of the ego.
The Greatest Gift at Christmas is Truth What is this truth? How do we stay connected to our authentic self that keeps us living in the spirit and joy of Christmas all

year-round? Buried within the cobwebs of bad habits, negative thinking, and identification with ego lies a most incredible treasure. It is that of love, joy, grace--the greatest gift that we could ever receive, and we find it through our practice of meditation. It is through faith that we can then live this truth. Welcome this Truth; allow it to be that which transforms you, to help you migrate from one state of being to the next, as painful as it may be. Allow it to bring your rebirth. Find what your Truth is and how you live it daily. And what is this authenticity? It is our joy! It is our Christmas! The greatest gift we will ever receive…truth and purpose. “If there is love in your heart and your mind, you will feel like Christmas all the time.” (Where Are You Christmas)
Actions of Pure Love During the Holidays So, during this Christmas season while you’re busy baking, wrapping presents and
decorating the house, do so with intentions of pure love in your heart remembering that all things, positive or negative, are born from a place of love and truth. Know that this is true for all humanity despite all the various cultures and religious and political belief systems. We all wish for the same things in life. While decorating your tree, in your mind’s eye see yourself laying the gifts of peace. See forgiveness, nobility, service, kindness, faith and joy all wrapped in gold under your tree. Recognize that these are the greatest gifts of all, those of our Christ Consciousness. We are all children of God, as was Jesus, and in a sense, Christmas is the day of our own birth, as well. We, too, with daily devotion and turning inward by meditating can find the meaning of who we are, the healing of our souls, the compassion and love. And that is our treasure…. to find our true essence and
walk through this life with joy, even in our darkest of times. Paramahansa Yogananda said: “From Joy we came, in Joy we live, in Joy we melt.” And when you see Santa Claus with his gleaming eyes, red cheeks and belly-moving laughter, recognize him as the archetype that is within us all, that of hope, faith, love, generosity and truth! Merry Christmas! About the Author Debbie Peluso obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Metaphysics in association with the University of Sedona in Arizona. The Healing Rhythms by Jill Mattson
Rhythm and Movement are More Than Musical Terms Music was an eminent tool for healing the body in ancient times. One element of music that was particularly helpful was rhythm. Each person has a signature, healthy rhythm. Our heart beat, circulation, breathing and schedule-of-body-repairs all have rhythms. They combine and create our signature rhythm.
Omtimes.com
Since ancient times, we consciously observe a person’s rhythm. You can observe one’s signature rhythm by observing the rhythm of one’s walk or gait. For example, a person “bobs” up and down while walking. If a sage observed this person’s walk slowing down and his “bounce” replaced with shuffling of his feet, the sage knew that he needed rhythmic adjustment.
A person’s voice is also a measure of internal rhythm. Imagine the slow draw of one voice versus the fast chatter of another - presenting fast and slow rhythmic patterns. Musicallike phrases and “pause” patterns characteristic of an individual’s rhythmic pattern are on display in his voice.
The Energies Contained in Individual Rhythms are Clues Movement is another indicator of a person’s rhythm. Notice the smooth and flowing movement of one athlete versus the jagged actions of another. One athlete shows a slurred and smooth transition of movements, whereas the other demonstrates staccato or crisp movements. Likewise, we could represent a horse by copying his exact gait patterns during a walk and a run. Imagine the personality associated with one who bounces when walking, another who marches and yet another who shuffles his feet. It is not hard, because our personal rhythm helps cultivate our personality.
In ancient times, changes to this rhythm was noted by using an imaginary musical tool, which worked like a thermometer. A depressed person was correlated to the bottom of the thermometer and a stressed person would be on the top. Low energy was at the bottom of the measuring tool and too much was at the top.
Fine Tuning Rhythm the Ancient Way Ancient masters compared a person’s normal rhythm with his unusual rhythmic pattern (that occurred during difficult times). They applied music with heavy doses of his normal rhythm pattern, until the body entrained and maintained the healthy beat pattern. When the normal rhythm pattern was restored, so was the person’s healthy mental and emotional energies. Overtime their physical energies were also restored. The Earth also displays healthy rhythmic patterns: spring, summer, fall and winter; and wet and dry seasons; and morning, noon and night. Even the star scape moves in a rhythmic way. Rhythms occur Omtimes.com
over time. Healthy rhythms are a vital part of our world. Personal habits are also indicative of internal rhythms. This rhythm is created by the type of activities over time. One may have a heavy diet of flurried activity, and then a period of rest, growth or challenge. When these normal rhythm patterns get broken, the person feels stressed. (This contributes to holiday stress.) Simply a change in routine introduces stress.
Normal Rhythm Patterns and How to Achieve Them Some rhythm patterns are healthier than others. A person who uses a pattern of work, work and work, will next wobble and crash. (The “crash” is analogous to the silence portion of a rhythm.) Procrastination also produces an unhealthy rhythm. An absence of rhythm occurs until it is crunch time. This is followed by a super-fastpaced rhythm, and ends with a wobble and crash; another dead spot in the rhythm. A healthier rhythm is a balanced one. Examples are: Omtimes.com
an activity is balanced by rest, stress is relieved by relaxation, and boredom is balanced by challenge. Rather than using one’s will to establish balanced habits, ancient healers had patients listen steadily to balanced rhythmic beats and their personal habits became healthier. Sages didn’t ask which came first - the chicken or the egg, or did the healthy rhythm affect a personality or did one’s personality contribute to his unique rhythm. All waves influence each other - stronger waves over comes the lessor. So, listen long enough to balanced beat patterns and watch balance develop in other areas of your life.
What Information is in Age-appropriate Rhythm Patterns? Age appropriate rhythm patterns occur during periods of one’s life - much as the Earth experiences the rhythms over large time spans, such as drought and wet time spans that endure for hundreds of years. Likewise, the rhythm of a toddler is decidedly different than that of a teenager or a
man in his prime. Notice that in old age, personal rhythms becomes chaotic before the health declines. Ancient wisdom was that establishing strong and youthful rhythms with drum beats and appropriate music, prolonged virility and youthfulness. (Belonging to a drumming circle may be more beneficial than you ever imagined.) A steady and lively beat perhaps with a little bounce to it - would be applied until a sick person entrained to this rhythm. Eventually as the natural body rhythms are restored, health and personality problems dissipate. People use drumming to get a group to work together. By establishing group beat patterns by drumming together also encouraged cooperation, and teamwork.
Natural Rhythms of the Ancients - Still a “Hit” Today In ancient times, the wondrous variety of normal rhythm patterns found in nature were presented in
healing music concerts. The rhythms of animal gaits, bird wings flapping, mother’s patting their babies to sleep and so on were copied and used prescriptively. For example, workers pulling heavy loads would sing using a rhythm just like a strong and steady elephant gait, but a warier preparing for attack would dance to the drum beats of a cougar attacking its prey. Cataloging and copying successful rhythms could be studied for their results in one’s lifestyle. We could document unique body and life rhythms of successful, spiritual and healthy people, allowing us to entrain to rhythms for their specific benefits. Going into the Heart by Daniel Mitel
“Love is the core frequency or energy with which God created all.” --Sara Paddison, “The Hidden Power of the Heart” We all love Star Trek episodes, especially Captain Jean-Luc
Omtimes.com
Picard’s way of thinking. Captain Picard used to listen to Data, a human-robot that would give him a perfect solution from reason’s point of view. At the same time, Picard would listen to the rest of his team. Finally, he would stop doing anything and he would listen to his heart. You would see how his face relaxed and he breathed-in and out rhythmically, calm and peaceful. Then he would make a decision. Is it possible to decide in a delicate moment of your existence based on love, listening to your heart? Is it possible to make any decision based on love? Sure, it is. Actually, we are created to make decision just from the core frequency we find there. How can that be? Well, it is a law of the universe
that the first cluster of a group of cells are giving the most important part of the future organism. For example, in the case of trees the roots are the first cluster and from there it’s starting all later development of the plant. In our case, science proves that at the beginning, in our mother wombs, we are just a heart. Nothing else is there; no brain, no hands, legs or anything else. Isn’t that amazing? So, when we focus to our heart, or even better, when we go inside of it, we have access to our primary cells. We have access to the love that created us. Science has now proven something very interesting: inside of the heart there are neurons with synapses, similar to the brain ones. What is even more interesting is that the brain sends ten times less
Omtimes.com
information to the heart than the other way around. So, that small clusters of neurons inside of our chest has a thousand times more power than brain’s neurons. Within the last thousands of years, generations of teachers and masters talk about the same thing: inside of us there is a hidden power and the source of this power is love, unconditional love. Sara Paddison, wrote in her book, “The Hidden Power of the Heart,” that “love is the core frequency or energy with which God created all.” Sara explains that the heart contains an unlimited source of higher intelligence “programs” for making efficient choices in life. We can say that anybody can access these programs by listening to the voice of
Omtimes.com
the heart. How can we do this, how we can listen to the wisdom inside us? People think that it is very difficult to access this special space; to go into our very center to see, sense, and feel the outside reality from the heart-base. People think that you need a laborious and strenuous effort to live from the heart, to live using this unconditional love. Actually, it is very easy. It is so easy that you will smile when you are going to do it. The simplest method that you can use is the Tibetan method of imagery. It is coming from ancient times and it was used, at the beginning, by the Adamic race as a method to feel the outside world just from the heart. Just take three deep breaths--in and out, then breathe in and
out normally. Imagine a spiral staircase going down from the middle of your brain to the middle of your chest. Go down the stairs. Step off the stairs and gently turn to your left. There is a door there that goes into your heart (it can be any type of door you imagine). Open the door and step inside; remember to close the door behind you. For a moment see, sense and feel the power and love emanating from your heart. And now, for the rest of the day, try to focus your attention to your heart and breath rhythmically. The results of this simple exercise are amazing. First, your energy changes completely, you feel younger, filled with vitality, strength and liveliness. Secondly, you will learn to listen with your heart instead to listen with the head.
A subtle essence is perceived in all the body, an invisible inner balance come into each cell. And finally, the most important, you will literally use the hidden power of your heart: the unconditional love. Your heart will connect with the invisible network of the other hearts around you and love will be your way to live. Prague, Center of Ancient Alchemy and Sacred Geometry, Beguiles Today Follow in the Footsteps of Emperors and Alchemists -- Feel the Power Anew By Marie Diamond

You may know Prague for its reputation as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, preserving historic castles, bridges, churches, dwellings and cobblestone streets. A UNESCO World Heritage Site that is often called the "City of a Hundred Spires,” it charms and beguiles you with its fairytale loveliness. But there is far more about Prague’s unique gravitational pull that you don’t see! From the 12th to the 14th centuries, this city was the alchemical and mystical center of Europe. Situated equidistant between Eastern and Western Europe, situated strategically between Rome, Paris and Constantinople, it was considered the “heart of the continent.” It was here that Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor and the king of Bohemia of the new Luxembourg dynasty, made his home, growing it into the third largest city in Europe at the time. Charles, who reigned from 1346– 1378, was a believer in the powers of alchemy, so he opened the walled gates of the city to the wise mystics of the time-- alchemists, astrologers, numerologists. And being sensitive to the energy of the cosmos, they detected the unusual power of the converging ley lines that had pulled the omtimes.com
original settlers to this central vortex of Europe. Not only is the city situated strategically at the convergence of those ley lines, but Charles and his alchemists then laid out the stone-built newer sections of town to maximize the power and energy for both an architectural AND energetic masterpiece to buttress the glory God, and increase the Empire’s power and riches. The spiritual heritage of Prague is written in every stone and spire. Sacred geometry was employed in the building and construction of what you see today, from the street configurations, to the orientation of the structures, to their dimensions and even the city’s famed astronomical clock. Charles ordered the building of the New Town (Nové Město) adjacent to the Old Town and laid out the design himself. On Sept 15, 2017, at the conclusion of a remarkable spiritual cruise along the Blue Danube, I will be leading a walk through Prague to immerse our guests in the magical energy concentrated within the bounds of the historic city. We will traverse the ley lines, meditate on the power spots, and feel the alchemical influence

throughout our own physical and energetic vessels. Our tour will begin in the Old Town Square. Legend has it that Princess Libuse, who could tell the future, founded Prague on the spot where she saw a man carving a threshold, in Czech called a ‘Prah’, for his house. One of the names of Prague is "the Mother of Cities" (Praga mater urbium.) We will be begin right under Prague’s medieval astronomical clock, the “Prague Orloj” --installed in 1410-- now the third oldest astronomical clock in the world and the only operational one, First we will take the measure of this powerful timepiece. The clock mechanism itself is composed of three main components: the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details; "The Walk of the Apostles", a clockwork hourly show of figures of the Apostles and other moving sculptures— notably a figure of Death (represented by a skeleton) striking the time; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months. According to local legend, the city will suffer if the clock is neglected, and its good operation is placed in jeopardy omtimes.com
and a ghost, mounted on the clock, was supposed to nod his head in confirmation. According to the legend, the only hope was represented by a boy born on New Year's night. And once we have taken in the clock’s magnificence, we will meditate before it, because this is one of the spiritual heart points of Europe. Here we will activate ourselves. As we follow the ley lines, we’ll observe the Feng Shui of Prague, which is based on it being surrounded by seven hills, similar to the seven hills of Rome. Seven church sites occupy the seven hills of Prague - and the ancient plan of this powerful location was to establish a pattern of five sacred sites inside and seven on the outside -- making the symbol of the “Rosy Cross” an almost perfect geometric symmetry. Climbing to the highest point in the city, we will observe this astonishing pattern of geography and energy flow, and activate a meditation for the whole planet. We will stroll uphill to Prague Castle, originally begun in the 9th century, the largest ancient castle complex in the world, where we will study its constellation and energetic alignments.
December D 2016 Edition
The walking tour will end at the well renowned Charles Bridge, Emperor Charles’s remarkable achievement that has stood the test of time. The Charles Bridge, replacing the Judith Bridge destroyed in the flood just prior to his reign, was erected to connect the east bank districts to the Malá Strana and castle area. On 9 July 1357 at 5:31 am, Charles IV personally laid the first foundation stone for the Charles Bridge. The exact time of laying the first foundation stone is known because the palindromic number 135797531 was carved into the Old Town bridge tower having been chosen by the royal astrologists and numerologists as the best time for starting the bridge construction. This "solidland" connection over the Vltava River, made Prague critical as the key trade route between Eastern and Western Europe. The span was built as a bow bridge with 16 arches, protected by three bridge towers. The Old Town bridge tower is often considered to be one of the most astonishing civil gothic-style buildings in the world, and one of the oldest bridges still standing from the Middle Ages. Build solely to alchemical principles, it is said that Charles would start walking from one side, pose a question to the Universe and have his answer by the time he crossed to the other side. So omtimes.com
we, too, will do our vision meditation as we cross this bridge and conclude our Prague journey. I invite you to join us on the firstever luxury spiritual cruise on the beautiful Blue Danube, so you can experience this magical walk through Prague, soul elevating workshops and much more!

How to Go from Intuitive to Psychic by Lisa K.
“I’m intuitive but not psychic” Why do we think that we are intuitive but not psychic? Psychic is something that people feel is like magic, it is beyond them. Perhaps it’s the movies, perhaps it’s
Omtimes.com
the word psychic. Psychic is taboo, psychic is scary, and associated with ghosts, paranormal, and most of all fright. But, again, there’s also the magic that is associated with it, it’s something that is a gift, a magic wand, something that we might feel only special people can do or have. Again, if we watch the movies, we might feel being psychic is unattainable. Even the newspapers make it special: How did anyone know to do that??? So why do we feel we are intuitive but not psychic? We’ve had that flash of an epiphany, that, “How did I know that?” moment.
So, is it coincidence, or something more? But we may just chalk it up to, “Oh that was a coincidence,” because being psychic is not me that would be way beyond me. Why not? Why not be uber-
intuitive, why not be able to go beyond and have those amazing intuitive moments all the time? There are people who have no idea what to do with just their intuition, say they don’t even know if they have intuition, grow and develop to become highly intuitive and, yes, psychic. In the trailer for “Hereafter” with Matt Damon, the scene opens where he’s reluctantly giving a psychic reading to someone who begged him to do it. Matt reaches out and takes the man’s two hands into his own. Instantly, he jumps slightly as if he was hit by something. Then the scene moves to showing a misty vague movie that ostensibly is in Matt’s head.
Images may appear like a mini-movie inside your head. The mini movie in his head shows people, events, and then he starts telling a long story of
Omtimes.com
events in this man’s past. That’s not how it works. That’s the movies. Incredible psychic experiences are just piecemeal intuitive messages. They are a string of intuitive messages that create a story - only the psychic understands how to make those messages appear and pull the string of messages together. It forms a story and a meaning that they understand and can relay to us or someone else.
The psychic, natural or trained, lets intuition work. In general, the psychic is someone who naturally knows how to do this, or more likely, someone who has been trained to do this well. They know how to get their intuition to work for them. They’ve studied techniques and practiced them so they can get their intuitive messages, which they can use to be more detailed and informative.
Omtimes.com
We may have seen or heard people’s intuition do extraordinary things. How did someone know? They were meant to board a flight and they say, “I just felt like I couldn’t get on that plane.” So, they didn’t and then the plane crashed. How did they know that? We would say it was their intuition.
Using intuitive ability whenever we want? Can we imagine if we could take this ability, and use it when we wanted to? Plus, if we could develop our intuitive ability to get more information, we might even be able to know why we shouldn’t get on the plane or what is going to happen to that plane and where. This would all seem to be psychic, wouldn’t it? This is what the psychic ability really is; it is: • intuition under our control; • intuitive messages strung together in a formal way
to make sense and give us detail; • the growth of someone’s elementary intuitive ability into intuition that is advanced because of studying how to use it; • knowing how intuition works in themselves and how to extract more useful information from it; • the ability to then interpret and deliver the intuitive information to someone else; and • the product of intuition that has been worked on practiced and exercised, through routines that build one’s intuitive skills. Our own intuition can become so advanced that we and others will think we’re psychic, because we are. Being psychic is the product and result of a well-developed intuition that is under our control.
Interpreting intuitive and psychic experiences Psychics get intuitive information that they compile to appear to be long detailed stories they can tell us. But, they get their psychic information the same way we receive our intuitive experiences. They’ve just learned how to notice when their intuition is giving them a message, how to interpret it and get more detail from it. And we can too; we can be intuitive and psychic. About the Author Lisa K., PhD, is a teacher, author and speaker specializing in intuition and creator of Developing Your Intuition. Cultivating Individuality Using the Law of Gender by Diane Wing, M.A.
Understanding universal law adds depth and meaning to our lives. So, today we explore the energies and principles associated with gender. In The Kybalion, it states of the Principle of Gender: “Gender is in everything; everything has Omtimes.com
its Masculine and Feminine Principles; Gender manifests on all planes.
The Blurring of Gender in Today’s Society Gender is quite a topic in society today. The lines have blurred between masculine and feminine, where gender norms are a thing of the past. There is a greater prevalence of same-sex marriages, crossover gender identity, and various vocations filled with both males and females. These were formerly considered as either masculine, such as the military or medicine, or feminine, such as teaching or parenting. Even within ourselves, there is more likelihood that we feel free to express both our masculine (projective energy, self-reliance, and logic) and feminine (nurturing, intuition, and receptive energy) characteristics in cultures that allow such diversity.
Gender Tendencies and Approaches At times, the gender tendencies are influenced
by the situation, calling for a softer, feminine approach; a more aggressive masculine approach, or a balance of the two. The sex of the person displaying the characteristics is inconsequential, for males and females have all the qualities of both masculine and feminine energies. In relationships, it may come across as one being more dominant (masculine) than the other regardless of sex. In astrology, there are masculine (direct, projective, active, light) and feminine (sensitive, receptive, attractive, dark) energies within the signs. Starting with Aries, every other sign around the chart wheel is masculine, balancing the sign that follows with its feminine energies, thereby creating harmony. Even in reading a chart, it bodes well to look at the way signs create balance or imbalance for the native. Masculine Astrological Signs: Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius Feminine Astrological Signs: Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces Omtimes.com
Masculine and Feminine Archetypes in the Natural World The archetypes of masculine and feminine play out in the idea of mother and father, with the combined energies creating a third energy with characteristics of both from their interaction. The concept of the aware, projective conscious mind as masculine, interacting with the more subtle, receptive subconscious of the feminine. Hence, both come into balance by the superconsciousness of Spirit. The plant kingdom is ripe for finding masculine and feminine energies and using them accordingly. For example, there is the white, grandmother sage for blessing and the blue, grandfather sage for clearing and purification. Books on natural magick, as those written by Scott Cunningham, Ted Andrews, Richard Webster, and John Michael Greer, give specific characteristics of herbs, flowers, trees, and plants.
Omtimes.com
Gender Qualities Found in Inanimate Objects Stones also have masculine and feminine qualities. Refer to the books Love is in the Earth: A Kaleidoscope of Crystals - The Reference Book Describing the Metaphysical Properties of the Mineral Kingdom Paperback by Melody (1995), and The Book of Stones, Revised Edition: Who They Are and What They Teach, by Robert Simmons and Naisha Ahsian (2015). Awareness of these qualities and energies that area all around and within us allows us to practice and cultivate balance and harmony. This is the essence of the principle of gender. Throughout the day, we encounter these gender energies and sense them on both a subtle and overt level. In some cases, those who display an extreme in one or the other direction may be overcompensating for an existing imbalance.
Finding Balance in Acceptance of Gender Qualities We can use both the
masculine and feminine qualities within ourselves without fear of judgment. With a clear sense of self and identity, concordance is more likely to be present in our lives. Gender energies are expressed in our personal space, clothing, attitude, and overall appearance. They are represented by vocational choice, the way we interact, and the form our relationships take. Thus, as society evolves, the way the masculine and feminine essences express, transform, and change reflect in creative expression, selfimage, and willingness to be true to ourselves. Each person has a unique balance of the gender energies, making that combination a trademark of that particular individual. Deep self-exploration includes understanding ourselves in the percentages of masculine and feminine energies. It also includes analyzing the way the weighting changes depending on circumstances, job requirements, relationship status, and creative aspirations.
Unique Combinations that Create the Universe We are all a blend resulting from unique combinations of cultural, familial, and experiential aspects. This is in addition to the internal reaction to these external forces. As we encounter all the variations these assemblages create, look upon them with reverence. Respect the myriad ways the Universe enables us to cultivate our individuality. Honor personal uniqueness and the way one chooses to express these energies, as well as the courage to experiment with various combinations. About the Author Diane Wing, M.A. wants to live in a world where people feel inspired. She enables people create their ideal future while being happy now and to experience a sense of wonder at everyday magick. As an author and perspective-changer, Diane has published six books. The most recent is, The Happiness Perspective: Seeing Your Life Differently. They all are available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. www.DianeWing.com

Truth Is Triumphant: The Illusion of Success by Baba Shuddhaanandaa Brahmachari
“Blessed are they who dwell on the deepest purposes of human life, especially in a world tormented by crisis, violence, poverty and despair. Yes, the news of the world is oppressive. It erodes confidence in the potential of humanity and our own life. Natural resources are shrinking. Cultures are becoming degraded. Corrupt governments, unwilling to respond to the ills of society,
Omtimes.com
sell the future to the highest bidder. Inhumane crimes and ethnic genocide are commonplace. Suffering and ecological devastation abound.
The Illusion of Success as Defense from Uncertainty The illusion of success, the possibility of laying claim to the good life beckons, a welcome escape from desperation. In a blind rush, people reach for the golden ring. Hence, it is an understandable defense from chaos and uncertainty. But what is true success? Success is always a mixed blessing. Look closely at the U.S. in the recent election. Success never comes without tentacles of attachment, eventual crises, or haunting insecurities and fear. Success is never the end. It is inevitably followed by failure and difficulty. Ups and downs are unavoidable. That is the way of things in a self-balancing, ever-evolving universe. Life painfully brings to light all that is unfit for the
next, new level of consciousness.
Truth is Triumphant - Find True Success in Balance Within struggle the seeds of Truth are hidden. Behind all superficial, transient struggles lies a brilliant reality waiting to be revealed through transcendence. Truth eventually is triumphant! True success refines harmony and peace in the heart. It confers emotional and psychological balance, profound wisdom. It brings the blessings of health and vitality, not only to oneself but also to the world around us. True success uplifts all life. Today, humanity is at the threshold of a new evolution of consciousness. The pathologies of the old world are erupting. But consciousness works out its destiny, emerging through crises, moving humanity inevitably toward perfection and realization.

When you look at the view of Earth from space, you are immediately in awe of what you do see: the incredible beauty of Creation. It is not until you look closer that you realize what you do not see. You do not see lines partitioning countries. You do not see separation between races. You do not see division between religions. You do not see the walls people build to isolate themselves from each other. There is only One Planet. There is only One Humanity. This section is dedicated to introducing thoughts and ideas to foster a greater understanding of Humanity’s interdependence.

Global Warming Exposes Boreal Trees to Biotic Stress by Rajendra Prasad Ghimire Herbivory and climate change factors may significantly increase BVOC emissions from boreal conifers Boreal conifer forests are sources of biogenic volatile organic compound (BVOC) emissions into the atmosphere. Global warming exposes boreal trees to biotic stress caused by insect outbreaks. Abiotic climate change factors also affect the trees. A recent study from the University of Eastern Finland

shows that the combination of insect outbreaks and climate change factors may significantly increase BVOC emissions of conifers in northern Europe. The expected increases in BVOCs may affect atmospheric chemistry. They impact the global climate through the formation of secondary organic aerosols in the atmosphere.
Significant Environmental Impact on Pine and Spruce Trees Needle damage caused by pine
sawflies on Scots pine and bark beetle invasion on Norway spruce trunks substantially increased the BVOC emissions from pine shoots and spruce bark, respectively. Insect herbivores and abiotic climate change factors (warming, elevated ozone and increased soil nitrogen availability), both individually and in combination, had strong impacts on BVOC emissions of Scots pine. The findings presented in the doctoral dissertation of Rajendra Prasad Ghimire, MSc, help in understanding the risks posed by climate change induced insect outbreaks for northern ecosystems. Data on emission responses is used in, for example, modelling of the impacts of climate change on the secondary aerosol forming capacity of boreal forests.
Evaluating Emissions Responses and Other Factors With the aim of assessing BVOC emissions from the shoots and tree bark surface of conifers in response to biotic stress, pine seedlings were experimentally exposed to insect herbivores in growth chambers and in an open-field exposure site. In ad-
dition, naturally insect-infested spruce trees were studied in forest site experiments. To evaluate the emission responses under multiple biotic and abiotic factors, the study exposed pine seedlings to herbivory, warming, elevated ozone and higher nitrogen supply in the open-field exposure site. The study collected BVOC samples both from pine shoots and rhizosphere and spruce bark surface using dynamic headspace sampling technique followed by analysis with gas chromatographymass spectrometry. The findings were originally published in Environmental Science and Technology, Atmospheric Environment, and European Journal of Forest Research. Empower Girls Break the Cycle of Dependence
The number one reason girls drop out of school in Sub-Saharan Africa is lack of access to feminine hygiene products. The Pads for Schoolgirls Project, an outreach of Humanity Healing International, is changing this paradigm by setting up sewing programs at schools, teaching girls a vocational skill, while producing the reusable pads that help keep them attending classes. The girls pay it forward by making and giving pad kits to other girls in need. To learn more, visit humanityhealing.org
