Inner Engineering
Technologies
Sadhguru is a realized yogi and mystic – a man whose passion spills into everything he encounters. With a keen mind, balanced by a heart that knows no boundary, his presence creates an extraordinary opportunity to break through limitations into one’s natural state of freedom, love and joy.
Sadhguru has a unique ability to make the ancient yogic sciences relevant to contemporary minds, and acts as a bridge to the deeper dimensions of life. His approach does not ascribe to any belief system, but offers methods for selftransformation that are both proven and powerful.
SADHGURU “As there is a technology to create external wellbeing, there is a whole science and technology to create inner wellbeing”
Sadhguru, world-renowned yogi, mystic, visionary and founder of Isha Foundation will be touring 18 cities throughout North America this Fall to offer refreshing and unique insights into many aspects of life, ranging from the mundane to the ultimate. The tour will also launch Sadhguru’s new book “Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy” where he presents readers with a path to achieving absolute well-being through the science of yoga. The book offers simple practices that can be done by anyone, anywhere. For all of the strides we have made in science and technology, with standards of living unimaginable a century ago, most human beings still
remain in search of wholeness and purpose in their lives. Sadhguru has often said that “society is overripe for a spiritual process.” His fundamental vision is to offer the science of inner wellbeing to every human being – a science vitally helping realize the ultimate potential within. From this vision stem a multitude of projects, programs, and methods, all towards the same aim: to raise every human being to the peak of their potential, be exuberant, all-inclusive, in harmony within themselves and the world. Perhaps Sadhguru’s mission is most succinctly summarized in
his own paradoxical words: “I have no mission of my own. It is just that when you see a certain need around you, you do what you can do – that’s all. But I have a dream, that someday, walking on a street anywhere in the world, I would be able to meet lots of enlightened or realized beings. That would be the greatest blessing to happen to the world.”
Sandie Sedgbeer: What is Inner Engineering? Sadhguru: Right now I hear there’s only one phone in the United States, it’s the iPhone. It’s a good phone but what we’re forgetting is the “I.” The iphone is alright, but the “I” is the most important thing. An iphone is just a little gadget produced by this larger gadget. This is the gadget, isn’t it? All the other gadgets have been produced by this gadget. If you pay a little attention to this one; if the necessary understanding and awareness and ability to transform this gadget happen within you, your ability to live will be greatly, greatly enhanced. Then outside technologies are not a barrier. Outside technologies are a boon that’s been offered to us. But the boons that have been offered to us are turning into curses in people’s lives simply because they’ve not taken care of this one. They’re only trying to take care of external situations. We have done a lot of engineering in the world outside and because of this we have a
huge level of comfort and convenience in the world today. The kind of comfort and convenience that no other generation of people could have ever imagined, that level of comfort and convenience we have. Though we have this, though we are the most comfortable generation ever on the planet, we cannot claim that we are the most peaceful generation. We cannot claim that we are the most joyful or loving generation on the planet for sure. So in many ways, this generation is becoming the most neurotic generation or most complaining generation because we have taken care of the outside but we have not taken care of the inside. The world is engineered the way we want it. But are we engineered the way we want us to be? So there is a certain way to engineer our system to make this body, to make this mind, to the very chemistry within us the way we want it. If our wish is to be blissful, to make the world blissful, it will take too many things, but to make this one person blissful, a willing person, somebody who wants
to be blissful, it shouldn’t be difficult at all. But this has not been done because people have never paid attention to the mechanics of how a human being functions and to engineer that the way we want it. So these are technologies for inner wellbeing. Everybody wants health, peace, blissfulness but these are simple things. Why these things are not happening is we have never paid attention to the inner mechanism of what a human being is.
To pay attention to that and to create it the way we want it, this is Inner Engineering. Inner Engineering is offered in various ways to suit everyone’s
needs. One can take the program online or as an in person program in various cities across US and Canada and also as a Retreat at Isha Institute of Inner-sciences in McMinnville, TN. “This life for me is an endeavor to help people experience and express their divinity. May you know the bliss of the Divine.” ~Sadhguru
Sandie Sedgbeer: What is the importance of the breath? Is there more to breathing well than positive health effects? Sadhguru: Breath is the thread which ties you to the body. If I take away your breath, you and your body will fall apart. It is the breath that has tied you
to the body. What you call as your body and what you call as “me” have been tied together with breath. And this breath decides many aspects of who you are right now. For different levels of thought and emotion that you go through, your breath takes on different types of patterns. If you are angry, you will breathe one way. You are peaceful, you breathe another way. You are happy, you breathe another way. You are sad, you will breathe another way. Have you noticed this? Based on this, conversely, is the science of pranayama and kriya: by consciously breathing in a particular way, the very way you think, feel, understand and experience life can be changed. This breath can be used in so many ways as a tool to do other things with the body and the mind. You will see with the Isha Kriya, we are using a simple process of breath, but the kriya itself is not in the breath. The breath is just a tool. The breath is an induction, but what happens is not about the breath.
Whichever way you breathe, that is the way you think. Whichever way you think, that is the way you breathe. Your whole life, your whole unconscious mind is written into your breath. If you just read your breath, your past, present and future is written there, in the way you breathe. Once you realize this, life becomes very different. It needs to be known experientially; it is not something that you can propound. If you know the bliss of simply sitting here, the blissfulness of just being able to simply sit here, not thinking anything, not doing anything, simply sitting here, just being life, then life would be very different. In a way, what this means is… Today, there is scientific proof that without taking a drop of alcohol, without taking any substance you can simply sit here and get drugged or stoned or drunk by yourself – no hangover. If you are aware in a certain way, you can activate the system in such a way that if you sit here, it is an enormous pleasure. Once simply sitting and breathing is such a great pleasure, you will become very
genial, flexible, wonderful – because all the time you are in a great state within yourself. The mind becomes sharper than ever before. Sandie Sedgbeer: Your latest book, “The Yogi’s Guide to Joy”, seems to be a rarelyexperienced state, but you say it can become our constant companion. How so? Sadghuru: Just because this is not a book which is a certain kind of teaching, or a philosophy, or a belief system and definitely it is not a new religion, it is a series of steps that one can take in one’s life and these are those kind of steps, those kind of methods, that one can employ in their daily life and grade them self as to how they are doing. You can do it when you are driving your car. You can do it when you are working in your office. You can do it just about any time. There are methods as to how to eat. There are methods as to how to walk. There are methods as to what you can do with your breath and a variety of things. This is something that you have to use as a constant companion. This is
not something that you read and you understood and you’re told it’s not that kind of thing. It is something that you have to practice, and the practice does not demand a specific time. It is something that will fall into one’s life and easily you can wield these practices into your daily life activities. That is an important aspect of the book.
invitation to each one of you to turn from an armchair reader into a dynamic participant on an ecstatic journey inward.
Sandie Sedgbeer: What is the book about? Sadhguru: Inner Engineering: A Yogi’s Guide to Joy is not an academic treatise or a self-help manual. It offers a combination that I have never attempted before in any previous book: a mix of perspective and practice, of explanation and experiment, of insight and the chance to test every hypothesis in the laboratory of life. This makes it unique. The end-result is a reminder of the power and profundity of yoga – not as acrobatics or metaphysics, but as an empirical science that makes you the master of your own destiny, the architect of your own inner bliss. In short, this book is a roadmap to joy -- an
Sandie Sedgbeer: Why write this book? Sadhguru: After an overwhelming experience that transcended all that I knew as life and left me dripping in nameless ecstasies over three decades ago, the sight of anyone on the street in a state of misery would disturb me deeply. I couldn’t understand why any human being should be unhappy when the source of limitless joy lies right within us.
I decided it was my mission to enlighten the world. Years later, I’ve grown wiser. I know now that people are often unhappy because they are invested in their own unhappiness. Hence I developed simple tools for self-transformation. And that’s how this book happened. My aim in this book is to help make joy your constant companion. To make that happen, this book offers you not a sermon, but a science; not a teaching, but a technology; not a precept, but a path. "The book presents the wisdom and practical advice in a highly accessible form that entertains as it enlightens—with anecdotes from his own life, surprising humor, and stories of those who have inspired him." Sandie Sedgbeer: You founded the “ISHA Foundation” which in turn has founded a number of social and educational initiatives like “Project Green Hand” and “The Action for Rural Rejuvenation”. What was the impetus behind those?
Sadhguru: For the first few years reluctant to form an organization because I touched a lot of people’s lives even then, but I was very reluctant to come up with an organization because I thoroughly enjoyed my physical freedom of being able to travel where I want being unrecognised and all this. But this became inevitable because the number of people who showed hunger and thirst to know this became so big that it was inevitable that I had to set up some kind of platform. So I set up a legal platform which we called the “ISHA Foundation” and tried to keep it as loose and non-structured as possible. Even today, it is run by nearly 7 million part-time volunteers and 4,000 full-time volunteers. There is no hierarchy, there are no real structures within the foundation, and it just runs out of love and energy from the people. Sandie Sedgbeer: How does Yoga help us learn to handle our thoughts and emotions? Sadhguru: Yoga is – when I say Yoga I’m sure in this part of the world people are
immediately thinking of impossible postures or building their bodies – Yoga means union. This means that you learn how to keep your body and mind aside because, as I said earlier, it is in body; it is in physiology and psychological structures that you and me will always remain individuals. Yoga means to transcend this too so that there is a union with everything. It is part of the modern physics to tell you that the entire universe is one energy throbbing in a certain way. Why is it that we’re not experiencing this ease, that we’re too identified with accumulated reality? Body is something that we accumulate by eating food. Mind is something that we accumulate by gathering information and impressions. What we have accumulated we have gotten so identified with it that we think we are a separate boundary by ourselves. These boundaries were set up with the intention of self-preservation. The instinct of self-preservation made us set up this boundary, but the boundaries that you set up or the walls that you build for self preservation are also
the walls of self-imprisonment. When you realise that, you seek Yoga. Sandie Sedgbeer: You are conducting Yoga classes for corporate leadership to introduce them to what you call inclusive economics, which you say introduces a sense of compassion and inclusiveness in today’s economic scenario. Economics seem to be at the base of so much strife in the world. Tell us about your proposals about inclusive economics. Sadhguru: There are many aspects to it. To put it very simply, it’s like this. Let us say you are manufacturing something. Maybe a safety pin, maybe a computer or maybe a spacecraft, it doesn’t matter what. Whatever you’re doing, whatever the nature of your business, fundamentally the goal is ??? and the goal for the business is to touch the entire population. You want everybody in the world to buy your safety pin or use your safety pin. This will only happen if you really look at how to serve, or how to offer the best thing possible. In this
process there may be others who are doing better than you, but if you are constantly striving how to offer the best there is a joy in creating those things and there is a joy in seeing that people are benefiting from what you do. Will you make profit? Of course you will if you make a great product you will make profit, but if you are constantly calculating what is my threemonth balance sheet it means living in a very petty ambition. If you move to a larger vision of seeing how to benefit the world through your products, then you are in inclusive economics. Right now we have left nearly 60% of the world out of the economic process in conducting this. I don’t think this is smart. If really we are smart at business, we must see how to include the entire population in all levels of the economic process. Only then we are doing business in its full scale. So I have been training and working with individual leaders and corporations, and also in various other forums, to see how to bring this, how they can do business in different regions of the world where there may
be some regions where you make high profit; there may be some regions which may be impoverished societies, but there are other ways to cultivate. You can cultivate talent; you can cultivate skills, and involve them in working in the economic process. So, essentially, it is about including the entire population into the economic process because economic process has become the fundamental of today’s world. Everybody, all over the world not just in America, is only talking about economics these days; which I don’t think is the healthiest way to live, but right now that is the way at least we must make it successful for the world being other people. Nirvana, the Elusive Mystery by Arthur Telling
Omtimes.com
In Buddhism there is a final state of becoming called “Nirvana (also Nibbana). Various Buddhist disciplines have differing views about the concept and experience
of Nirvana. Some say Nirvana is beyond words, and we can only understand it by years of meditation. But there is agreement as to the general nature of Nirvana. We extinguish desires and cravings through meditation and contemplation. Thus, attachment to the physical senses terminates, and with this, existence ceases. The difficulty of comprehending life as we understand it without there being existence is troubling for many, and seemingly impossible to communicate. The typical description given for Nirvana is a “formless bliss.”
Cessation of Identity The concept of “existence” is largely misunderstood, particularly in the West. The term existence implies there being identity. It is the loss of identity, not of the physical
senses, that brings a cessation of existence. Yet Nirvana will not be corralled by the physical senses, of course. There are predictably an infinite number of worlds and planes. The pure energy that comprises these worlds and planes is immeasurable. The vibrations and intensities of energy allow for innumerable kinds of life and experiences. Thus, we may view Nirvana as unrecognizable and indescribable. The experiences in Nirvana need not conform in any way to our physical experience. To explain Nirvana using our terms we must understand our threedimensional physical world experience not as reality but as language, a communicating using images, sounds, emotions and thought. Every thought, emotion,
Omtimes.com
image, and sound is thus a word, that we speak or express to convey information about ourselves or something. By understanding our physical senses as being a full-blown three-dimensional language, the mysterious state of Nirvana can be explained.
which are not dependent on these forms and feelings, existence then ceases. But the forms and emotions need not dissolve away. Now, with attachment eliminated, the forms are unnecessary but may be useful, for communicating and interacting.
Releasing Attachments
The experience would be like awakening in a dream, a lucid dream. Thus, in a dream there is no attachment. We know that what is in the dream is illusion, and does not exist. Yet we do participate in activities of the dream. In a dream anything is possible, even an appearance of forms and shapes that are outside of anything in the world.
Nirvana is the cessation of existence. We exist now as John or Mary because of attachment through our emotions to things and beings, which we see as forms and experiences. The forms and emotions are themselves not existence, but they support our existence through the illusion that they are self-sustaining and independent, and through our dependence on them. By dropping our attachments, by seeing our eternal natures
Omtimes.com
Awake and Alive, and in Nirvana The Buddha became enlightened, entering
Nirvana during his lifetime. Through prolonged intense meditation, he dissolved his attachment to his gender, birthright as prince of a kingdom, father of a baby son, and husband. Having no attachment to the world and its narratives, his existence as a person ceased, and he entered the blissful state of Nirvana in this world. He lived on for another forty years travelling and teaching the path for awakening to his disciples and to lay people.
End Goal of Human Life Nirvana, I believe, is the inner state of mind of the enlightened being. It is an inner tranquility unmoved by the distractions and defilements of the lower energies making up the various worlds and spiritual planes. In such state, the enlightened
being may visit such worlds unattached and unaffected. In the state of Nirvana is the supreme perfect energy, at his disposal for creating worlds. It is a blissful and formless state of rest, unblemished, a blank canvas, there awaiting the artist’s brush. 5 Keys
Essential to a Successful Spiritual Business by Colby Psychic Rebel
Five Keys Essential to a Successful Spiritual Business Anyone can start a business but few can create longevity and substantial abundance. In a day and age when many people are experiencing discontentment in their jobs and dissatisfaction with their chosen careers, there has been an uprising in spiritual consciousness. There is no better time than now to a start a spiritual practice.
Omtimes.com
Below are five keys essential to a successful spiritual business. #1 BELIEVE - One of the biggest and most important steps we can take is the first step and that is to simply believe in ourselves. Letting go of our little ego, that inner voice that tells us either it can’t be done or that we are not good enough. Of course it can be done! We are meant to succeed and to live our life with purpose. Being honest with ourselves and working through our personal blocks sets the stage for success. Some of us have a fear of success or worries about our financial future. As a result, we cling to our comfort zone. Finding ways to stretch our comfort level by releasing those inhibiting thought patterns opens the pathway for our truest self to emerge. Experiencing a sense of fear is completely normal, yet finding the courage deep within ourselves to move past our insecurities and towards our future is what builds success.
#2 FOCUS - After we’ve decided to take our own leap of faith, it’s now time to focus on what we want to deliver. Are we providing a service, product or simply our personality? Discovering our unique edge and delivering it with purpose and power is achieved through focus. It’s essential to keep it simple and straight to the point for our clients. They want to know what they are purchasing and it’s our responsibility to deliver it with absolute perfection and ease. There is no need to offer 10 services and create a complex system that is overwhelming and complicated to navigate. The simpler we can make it for the potential client, the more concrete results we will achieve. Remember these additional tips, as well: #3 STRUCTURE - Now that we’ve decided on our delivery, it’s time to consider our business structure. What type of entity do we
Omtimes.com
want to be? Each business foundation has its advantages and disadvantages. Having a conversation with our tax advisor to formulate a plan that is customized to our specific circumstances will help us in our decision making. We want to avoid a structure that is not compatible with our long term vision. Starting off on the right foot by understanding our reporting and legal compliance requirements can avoid major pitfalls and back tracking in the future. #4 SOCIALIZE - Brag! Brag! Brag! If we don’t tell the world we have arrived, our clients won’t be able to find us. By connecting with our client in a way that makes them feel special, we show them that we care about our work. As a result, we build loyalty. With modern technology, it’s never been easier to find our tribe. Now is not the time to be shy. It’s our turn to step out onto
Omtimes.com
the stage of life and own it! #5 INTEGRITY - Always work with integrity. Avoiding any traps of success or indulging in circumstances that create temptation will allow us to work both genuinely and authentically. In the interest of true healing and service to spirit, we must always work with integrity and ethics. These five keys are the tips that are essential to building a successful spiritual practice that delivers success, builds longevity and creates financial abundance. Looking for Love in all the wrong places?
How to Raise Emotionally Balanced Children by Sandra Rea
Children Experience a Range of Emotions Helping our children to deal with their emotions is a vital part of parenting. Emotions are not necessarily a bad thing. But we as parents can get upset if we see anger, sadness, or frustration expressed in our children. We believe that part
Omtimes.com
of our job is to shelter them from negative emotions and experiences, and help them to live happy lives. While this is a noble pursuit, it is not necessarily of benefit to them. We all come into this life knowing that we will experience a range of emotions and challenging situations. If we did not have this contrast, we would not learn and grow during our lifetime. We would remain one-dimensional so to speak.
Emotions Are a Learning Tool Different emotions and situations help us to experience a range of feelings and events that we can learn from. If we were to constantly experience sunny weather, we wouldn’t appreciate the sunshine as much. We would take it for granted, seeing and feeling the same thing every day. We’d also miss out on the beauty and awe of a thunder and lightning storm or the magnificence of snow, and all the range of weather conditions that bring us such variety and splendor.
In the same way, our emotions serve us in various ways. The key is to be able to observe the emotions subjectively, to learn from them, without getting caught up in feelings of blame, guilt, fear, pity or judgment, of both ourselves and of others.
Learning to Release Painful Emotions When we engage with negative emotions such as anger or fear, we can become caught up in them. We may be unable to release the emotion and miss out on the lessons that they have to teach us. We can also store this energy in our bodies for prolonged periods, sometimes leading to sickness if not released. If we allow the emotion to flow through us, however, we can observe and learn from it. Children are actually very good at letting emotions flow, crying one moment, laughing the next and then angry or frustrated, all within a short space of time. The reason for this is that they allow themselves to experience the emotion fully as it arises. But, instead of holding onto it and
Omtimes.com
analyzing it, as adults tend to do, they release it as quickly as it arrived. This is good!
Our Reaction is Key When we see strong emotions arising, however, in our children we can react negatively. It can also awaken our emotional bodies leading us into negative emotional patterns in response. If we then try to control or limit the child’s emotional behavior this can, in turn, lead to a strong reaction from the child often in the form of more negative emotions. It can all be quite overwhelming. If we take a step back, we can see what is going on. Children are emotional beings, just as we are, and they have a right to express their emotions. When we respond by telling them to stop being bold or to stop behaving that way, we try to suppress their emotional reaction. This leads to frustration and a feeling of being misunderstood. We haven’t tried to assess the source of the emotion; we only reacted to the behavior. Before reacting, ask the child what happened or why are Omtimes.com
they upset and give them a chance to explain. We will understand their behavior better. And, we will teach them it is okay to express emotions, and that we will not judge them for it or try to overpower their behavior. We can also help our child to work through an emotion when we recognize it and help them to understand their feelings. 3 Ways to Practice Mindfulness During Your Morning Commute by Rebecca Clio Gould
It All Clicked with the Morning Commute I’ll tell you the truth about practicing mindfulness. There’s only one day every week that I have to face the morning commute and rush hour traffic, because all other mornings I
Omtimes.com
work from home. But whether it was during a morning commute or just driving to the store, a yoga class, or to the park, I noticed a reoccurring theme: stress. If there was any sort of time pressure or traffic, my body would tense up, and my mind and emotional state could get pretty wonky too. This awareness started several years back. See, I consider myself a pretty relaxed and laid back lady. I was all peace and love, but in the car, my zen could disappear just like that. I wouldn’t honk or have extreme road rage, but sometimes my thoughts towards other drivers were not loving or peaceful, not at all. So I started using my time in the car as a mindfulness practice; using driving as an active form of meditation.
Can Mindfulness Really Make a Difference? Most people think of meditation as a time to shut
their eyes, and to sit in perfect stillness and silence. And many guided meditations even warn you not to drive while listening to them. However, meditation is not just something to do in a quiet place, away from the distractions and actions of everyday life. If you can learn how to take your meditation out into the world, how to experience the benefits of mindfulness regardless of where you are and what you’re doing, that’s where some of the real magic is in living a more peaceful, happy, and healthy life. And since the number one excuse people give for not meditating is not having the time for it, I’m going to show you how to get the benefits of mindfulness while driving in your car.
1. Become an observer of your thoughts, without following them. Spending time in your car gives
Omtimes.com
you plenty of time to think. Many of my greatest ideas come to me while driving. But if you’re not careful, it can also be a time for tape loop thoughts and monkey mind to wreak havoc. And although turning on some music and singing along is a good way to quiet the mind, you can also use your commute to just simply notice your thoughts without following them down a long meandering path. And if, like me, you sometimes feel irritated with other drivers, just notice those thoughts and feelings too. Are you really pissed off at that other driver? Maybe, yes, and maybe even rightfully so if they negligently cut you off or somehow almost getting you into an accident. But maybe you’re really pissed off at yourself or someone else in your life, or frustrated about some other situation. Now, don’t go down a rabbit hole of questioning and analyzing

here. Just be open and curious. Notice your thoughts and feelings, and let them just be.
2. Become aware of your breathing. One way to stop your thoughts from distracting or upsetting you is to bring your attention back to your breath. Have you ever caught yourself holding your breath while concentrating? Perhaps while at your desk? Or when you’re behind the wheel of your car? Let this be an opportunity to mindfully breathe while driving. Keeping your eyes open and on the road, of course, but become aware of your breath. Breathe deeply, slowly, and fully into your belly. And, especially if in bad traffic, try smiling with each breath. Try breathing in what it is you want for the day. And breathe out your gratitude for all the good you know is coming your way.
3. Relax your body and “let the horizon come to you.” As you breathe mindfully, allow your body to relax. You can still remain alert and focused on the road. But just notice any bodily tension and breathe it away, softening a little bit more and more with each exhale. Also notice if you’re leaning forward-not just physically, but energetically. Are you getting ahead of yourself? Are you striving and struggling to get to where you’re going? Try just leaning back and enjoying the ride. Soften your gaze just enough to feel as if your eyes are receptive. Allow the horizon to come to you, knowing you will get where you’re going. There is no need to be a stressed out, agitated, or forceful driver. So, whether it is the morning commute or a
minor errand, sit back. Relax, and enjoy the journey. Your destination is patiently waiting for you. Relationships
The interconnectiveness among all human beings and, consequently, the relationships among us are the focus of this section. The dynamics of the web of connections we make is one of the most prominent aspects of human existence: how we interlace with each other’s existence in a meaningful way.
Autumn Wisdom for Romantic Relationships by Paulette Sherman
Autumn Changes in the Romantic Wind Autumn is blowing in with Summer behind us. Every season has significance and is a spiritual opportunity for growth. The autumn equinox is a time of equal darkness and
Omtimes.com
light, masculine and feminine, sun and moon; balance. What might fall mean for your romantic relationships? 1. It’s Time to Harvest the Goodness: The fall is the time when farmers gather crops for winter storage. It’s a time of abundance, beauty and taking stock. Make time to appreciate your partner and celebrate all you’ve co-created together. This is a time of thanksgiving, to be in the energy of appreciation and generosity. There are a number of appreciation baths and couples baths in my book, The Book of Sacred Baths’ that you can try. You can even create a harvest couples bath to take stock of all you’ve reaped together. 2. It’s Time to Bond & Couple Up: Autumn is the time where people couple up. Perhaps it’s in preparation for the cold season or holidays. Many singles want to snuggle
up with someone and to be part of a couple. While summer has the energy of fun, September is for more serious planning and longer-term goals, including relationships. Fall is often called, ‘The Cuffing Season’ because most new relationships and engagements happen then.
A Romantic Time of Transformation 3. Changes-Out with the Old: Autumn is a time when the leaves transform, turn colors and fall off. Practice letting go of old things that no longer serve you in your relationships so that new life can grow. This could mean a breakup but it also can mean a careful pruning of your partnership. What fights keep occurring? Can you let go of anything? What patterns will you release? What conditions permit the most optimal growth in your relationship and how can you plant those
Omtimes.com
seeds? As my spiritual teacher, Christopher Dilts, likes to say, ‘Do you want to plant a seed or a weed, today?’ 4. Time to Balance Dark & Light: As we’ve said, the autumn equinox is the balance point between dark and light, masculine and feminine, the sun and the moon and heaven and earth. You can take this approach in your relationship to achieve greater balance. Often in dating you just shine your best to your significant other. This is largely fantasy. It is only later that you discover our partner’s shadow side and reveal those darker parts of yourself. Real love is accepting both and leveraging the dark aspects of your relationship for your joint growth. It’s also important to learn to balance your inner masculine and feminine energies within yourself and within your relationship. You can reflect on how your relationships are active and
Omtimes.com
passive: Do you rest and play together more than you work and create, or the reverse? Use this time to develop a greater integration between competing energies to achieve wholeness, fairness and health in your relationship.
Romance Autumn-Style! 5. Time to Make Hay: When we think of autumn we think of pumpkins, hay rides and makin’ whoopee. Well, in autumn testosterone rises and men find their girlfriends and wives even more attractive! It is also the time that women are most fertile in November and December. Biologically and psychologically it feels like the last chance to pair up before winter hits. So, if you’re in a relationship, take this time to connect and increase the intimacy you already have with your partner. 6. Time to Fill Up on Love to Feel Sustained: Research
shows that we eat more in the fall to store up for the winter when things get scarce. This can lead to weight gain so instead fill up on love and gratitude. In addition, you can cook warm healthy meals together that are sustaining, like making vegetable or sweet potato soup, chili or curried cauliflower and chickpeas so that you gain more nutrients but don’t pack on the weight.
Fulfilling Autumn Adventures 7. Time for Completion: It is a few months before the new year, a time to complete what remains undone. What loose ends can you address in your relationship? Are there are places to go or things to do before the next cycle begins? Perhaps there are things to set you on the right path like feng-shuiing your house, feathering your joint nest or making a vision board of your goals together. Be creative
about getting organized while school is in session and you are both indoors, more. When we complete the old, it is easier to start fresh with a blank slate. I hope you enjoy your autumn season and have lots of great date nights. We are going to check out the Great Pumpkin Blaze, a hayride, carving pumpkins, a visit to Salem in October, and much more. Time to Kill the Vampires by Mark Stavish Do You Know Any Vampires? It is that time of the year again when very soon the vampires will be out to play. And it’s not just the vampires but, in fact, the entire world of the undead. Well, maybe not the undead, but close to it - children in costumes extorting candy out of you. Perhaps you are among those who unfortunately does not see Halloween as the best holiday of the year, and who starts decorating sometime after Labor Day? Then all will be good come November 1st, as this parade of brightly colored ghouls and goblins will only last for a few fun-filled hours and be done. For the rest of us, our decorations will remain up until a week before Thanksgiving; some, such as the pumpkin lights, pulling double duty.
easiest to deal with. Give them a chocolate bar or some candy corn, and they go away. This is the bargain of Halloween. Other types of vampires are not gotten rid of so easily. The bargain you have with them is different; and not much of a bargain, as it all goes one way. You know the type, and most likely have one or two floating around. These are the folks that suck you dry and wonder why you never call.
The not so good news is that the vampires of Halloween are the
No need to go into the details of it, you know them all too well.
Omtimes.com
Yes, now is the time of the Fall Harvest, the time of assessment, and with that, the time to kill your “vampires,” those relationships you have with people that bring you nothing good and only take. You see, life is too short to be plagued by “hungry ghosts,” be they hungry for candy, or your time and emotional energy.
Take a Good Look at Energy-Suckers Fall is about looking back as well as forward to winter and to the time when spring no longer comes. It is about the end, finality, to death. I know, not happy or upbeat, but that is reality. And this is why I repeatedly say to be free, to live your life, to be happy, and not to live the life others expect of you. Those others can be parents (even if they are dead), socalled friends, family, or even certain social norms whose false narratives are designed to guilt you into an action you otherwise would not perform. These social norms are not limited to secular concerns, but are very much also a part of various spiritual, initiatic, and esoteric movements. These overwhelming frameworks are used to define us - these
egregores - wherein we exchange one set of external expectations for another. So get rid of those energy-sucking undead (or is it really unliving?) creatures now, or end up joining their club of “unhappy and unfulfilled souls” in the afterlife. Summer is over, fall is here, and winter is coming. It is time to weigh your life in the Balance of Truth. Free yourself from parasitical people, as well as the situations that cultivate them. This is the purpose of many esoteric teachings and in theory groups. These provide us with a set of tools and environment to learn how to use them. When used properly, these tools, in turn, help us create a happy, healthy, and meaningful life for ourselves and others. So, break out the wooden stake along with the full-size chocolate bars (do not go cheap!) And slay your personal vampires this season. You will be glad you did. Dear Michelle, On the topic of ghost hunting: do you believe in both good and bad ghosts? From an amateur ghost tracker in Arkansas Dear ghost tracker, We need to keep in mind that at the time of death, God still honors our free will. Ghosts are souls that turned away from the light of heaven and stayed earthbound. There’s different terminology, a play on words: we call them ghosts, or I refer to them as wayward spirits or lost souls. Most ghosts know exactly where Heaven is, but choose to stay earthbound. I have seen that souls are attached to a person or a home, and they do not want to leave. Then there are those that have forgotten their way home. There are also souls that are not allowed to leave this realm – many times souls that commit suicide must stay on Earth for a period of time. They are to feel the devastation that they caused within their family and even try to console their loved ones.
even though they're in between, they're parallel realm, and they still can affect ours. They can learn to use their energy to effect ours; flickering lights, a book falling off a shelf, meaningful songs that play on the radio, finding an old letter that they wrote. Then there are the bad ones; I’d advise everyone, never to ghost hunt in an asylum or prison. As nasty as a person is in life, a soul can even get nastier because they learn the tricks on things to do and how to affect the living. These spirits can affect you, they and even attach themselves to you. This is called possession. Ghost hunting has become a new fad, but I assure you it’s not a game. Never enter a haunted place without shielding up in protective prayer because only a Medium would know the true nature of a soul.
So yes, there are different types of Ghosts, referring to positive and negative, good or bad. It really depends on the soul - what they were in life that carries over in their spirit body or astral body. They learn new tricks, you could say. They learn the way to affect our world, our realm Omtimes.com

Dear Whitedove When I sleep, I often see a lady in white. We talk and then when I wake I only remember bits and pieces of our conversation. I wish I could remember what she is telling me? -Vivid Dreamer in Denver Dear Dreamer, Everyone has this ability, you are working with your spiritual entourage of guardian angels and spirit guides; even loved ones will come through to you at night. Most people have experienced vivid, lucid dreams - which feel more real than when you awake. Is it just a dream or do you think that was a visitation? It’s both because dreams are the doorway to the spirit world; that's one way that your unseen support team can come to you. They have to lower their vibration because they're in the heavens and we have to raise ours. Usually the body's resting and the soul steps out, and so there's this profound connection. But we can only hold that space for a short time. It’s important for you to keep a bedside journal and write everything down immediately when you wake. You’ll learn a lot from those interactions. Sometimes it’s a simple
Omtimes.com
message like, "Listen, heads up." They'll usually tell you whether it's something coming up that you don't need to experience. Sometimes they come through just saying, "Hey, I'm here. I'm with you. I love you. You think I'm not here because I'm not in the physical form, but I'm with you in spirit." They try to let us know that Heaven is right here. It's just a veil that's between the heavens and this world. Some people see the other side and others like you can train yourself to actively participate in these conversations and to remember the messages. There is nothing better than working with your entourage of guardian angels and spirit guides!

Personal Growth & Development
Break Your Jug by Ariela Sarai
Harry Palmer, creator of The AvatarŽ Course tells us, “There is an old story about a farmer who finds a pumpkin that has just started to develop. To protect the little pumpkin from the elements he slips it inside a jug. Then he goes on his way and forgets about it. When harvest time comes, the pumpkin has grown only as large as the jug. The jug that once protected it eventually limits its growth. Omtimes.com
Many people are in the same situation as the pumpkin. To find protection, they have embraced sheltering beliefs about who they are, what they can do, and what they can become. For a time, these beliefs offer comfort and protection, but beliefs, particularly limiting beliefs, soon lose their usefulness. Limiting beliefs form a jug. It is a person’s own considerations
that limit his or her potential.” (The Avatar Path: The Way We Came, p. 49) Being inside the jug is basically being in our comfort zone. We don’t have to put any effort into how we are seeing things because we are on automatic. It is interesting that we use the term “comfort zone.” The only thing comfortable about it is that everything is known. It appears to be a safe place to rest, but actually life is always evolving. So when we are inside our jugs, we are actually evolving in the wrong direction. Harry Palmer says the when we stay there we essentially begin to rot! Although the jug can seem momentarily more comfortable, the effects of the comfort zone are not comfortable. It’s like junk food. We like that initial moment of eating it, but that same “comfort food” often gives us effects that we really don’t want. When we stay inside our jug we are trading the fear of stretching into the unknown, for the comfort of stagnating in our old default patterns. On the other hand, when we
stretch for something that inspires us, we feel alive and empowered, and we get to develop a fresh perspective and evolve toward greater joy and success. Many people try to take action to make changes without changing their beliefs. This is when we feel like we are doing everything we can but not seeing results. The old beliefs keep reasserting themselves and we end up creating a variation of the original limiting pattern, despite our efforts. When there is something more that we want to create, we first need to recognize that our belief system that got us where we are now will not get us to a new place. We need to inspect and let go of old limitations about ourselves, the world and what is possible. When we do that, and then take action, we are on our way to creating a new reality! About the Author Ariela Sarai has been teaching The Avatar Course around the country for 17 years. She offers a free session for those who would like to experience the Avatar tools. www. powerofavatar.com Omtimes.com
There is No Miracle in Positive Thinking by Shuddhaanandaa Brahmachari
What are Your Beliefs about Positive Thinking? The concept of positive thinking is challenging and at times depressing for many. Reading the merits of positive thinking from all the literature flooding the cyber world today, we then try to be positive and expect great results. However, one often stumbles into frustration, for the law of attraction just doesn’t function like that.
Omtimes.com
Imagine a person who has groomed his mind with months or even years of believing that everything is against him, and that nothing is working. This self-belief then finds ground in the subconscious mind and gets programmed in its own course. Even if the same person starts to think positive thoughts with the hope that things are going to change, no magical results happen. It is for the simple reason, that even though there are positive thoughts in the mind, the negative beliefs are so powerful that they not allow the positive to bear fruit. The most practical and important thing to keep in mind is that we have to have trust in our self, and trust in God in order to overcome the negative situations at any given point of time in life. One first has to realize that it is a consistent awareness of the higher forces and a conscious practice of observing negative thoughts dissolving in the light of awareness that can bear fruits. Consistent awareness and practice can invite a sustainable change for the better. Faith, faith, faith
in one’s own self is the most important feature that allows the true positive light to shine from the center of the heart, which is the center of our Being also.
Life Moves Us to Train Our Mind The heartening reality is that the life process is designed to move us from untruth to truth and from darkness to light. The world may be full of untruth and darkness, but it is also permeated with truth and light. As a child, we were vulnerable and subject to circumstances. As an adult, we can choose where to put our focus and attention. We can grow beyond any circumstance. Our only hope of liberation from the tyranny of negativity, which is a manifestation of untruth and darkness, is to patiently establish our mind in the deeper truths of our existence. We must train and retrain our awareness to focus on the infinite, positive resources of the larger life we have. Whatever traumas we may have experienced in Omtimes.com
the past, whatever habitual thinking we may have developed as a result, learning to train our mind to be in the light is the one assurance we have on our path to joy and peace of mind.
Peace of Mind with Positive Thinking No one else can train our mind. We can only begin with the mind and the thoughts we have. So, we need to be kind, loving and compassionate with our self. We need to fill our mind with the positive whenever possible. As we observe our thoughts and emotions we can begin to notice what is true and what is a detrimental illusion in our thinking. Then we patiently, lovingly, and consistently lead our mind and our thoughts back to what is ultimately true. Let us always keep in mind the law of impermanence. Neither the good days nor the bad days stay forever. It is ultimately how we accept life; how we translate the vibrations coming to us from all directions. These energies infuse into our senses and mind and our interpretation Omtimes.com
of them, and determine how we live our life. We simply translate those energy vibrations to the positive. We know well that nothing is bad and nothing is good; that it is how we accept and live our life that matters. For life is neutral, it is a perennial flow, a river of divine grace; it is we who give value and meaning to life. All benefit comes through our state of mind, which is the gateway to the world of eternal peace and blessedness. Make Joy Your Constant Companion by Sadhguru
How You Are, Within Joy is not about what you do and what you do not do. Joy is about how you are within yourself. If only your mind and your emotions happened the way you wanted it, if your mind was taking instructions from you, you would definitely keep it joyful. The question is Omtimes.com
not about joy or misery; the question is just whether your mind is out of control or in control. If it is in control, you would definitely create a joyful situation within yourself. Only because it is out of control - it is happening in random reaction to external situations - it is not joyful.
The problem is just that your interior, your mind, your body, your energies, your emotions, nothing is happening the way you want it. Everything is happening accidentally, in compulsive reaction to the situations in which you exist.
You can manage external situations only to a certain extent. Whether you are in the race or not in the race, outside situations happen your way only to some extent, and never 100% your way. If your inner situation is happening in compulsive reaction to the external situation, you being joyful is always going to be accidental.
The first and most fundamental responsibility for a human being is to become a joyous being. To be happy is not the ultimate aspect of life. It is the fundamental aspect of life. If you are not happy, what else can you do with your life? Only if you are happy, can other great possibilities open up.
What you call as the outside are a million different ingredients over which you have no control. But inside there is only one - you. If you happen the way you want yourself to be, your choice would definitely be a joy.
Take Responsibility Become a Joyous Being
Whatever you do, it is only your inner quality that you are going to spread. Whether you like it or not, that is the reality. Unless something of true value happens within you, you cannot do anything of tremendous value to the world. So, if you are concerned about the world, the first
Omtimes.com
thing you must do is transform yourself into a joyous being. It does not matter what you are pursuing in your life, whether it is business, power, education or service, you are doing so because somewhere deep inside you is a feeling that this will bring you happiness. Every single action that we perform on this planet springs from an aspiration to be happy because it is the original nature. When you were a child, you were simply happy. That is your nature. The source of joy is within you; you can take charge of it.
Happiness Opens Us to Greater Possibilities Happiness does not only come from achievement. When you were a child, you were simply happy. That is your nature. If you go against your own nature to be happy, you will never get anywhere. To be happy is not the ultimate aspect of life. It is the fundamental aspect of life. If you are not happy, what
Omtimes.com
else can you do with your life? Only if you are happy, can other great possibilities arise in your life. The first and most fundamental responsibility for a human being is to become a joyous being. It does not matter what you are pursuing in your life, whether it is business, power, education or service, you are doing so because somewhere deep inside you is a feeling that this will bring you happiness. Every single action that we perform on this planet springs from an aspiration to be happy because it is the original nature. Today we are seeking happiness so vigorously that the very life of the planet is being threatened. All those people, who depend on external situations to be happy, will never know true joy in their lives. The source of joy is within you; you can take charge of it. When you are fundamentally joyous, when you do not have
to do anything to be happy, then every dimension of your life - the way you perceive and express yourself and the world - will change. You will no longer have vested interests because whether you do something, or you do not do something, whether you get something or do not get something, whether something happens or does not happen, you will be joyous by your nature. When you are joyous by your nature, your actions will rise to a completely different level.
Personal Well-Being is Inward Joy It is definitely time we look inward and see how to create personal well-being. From your own experience of life, you can clearly see that true well-being will come to you only if your interior changes. At present, the quality of your life is not determined by the clothes that you wear, the educational qualifications that you carry, the family
background that you come from or the bank balances that you hold. Rather, the quality of your life depends on upon how peaceful and joyous you are within yourself. Unless something of true value happens within you, you cannot do anything of tremendous value to the world. Whatever you do, it is only your inner quality that you are going to spread. Whether you like it or not, that is the reality. If you are concerned about the world, the first thing you must do is transform yourself into a joyous being.
