Shay Parker: I don’t know if you are as excited as I am about this because I have watched you climb so far in the past few years. We're going to cover ‘From Manager to Medium.' You were a Tax Manager, and this is going to be your story of crossing over. Which – know everyone – Colby did not pass away. This is her story of passing over from literally Tax Manager to Medium, and what a whirlwind it has been for you. I’ve just been amazed at how much Spirit has touched your life and your career in the past few years. As a Psychic Medium, obviously you were a Tax Manager before you were Colby Psychic Rebel, a Psychic medium, so can you tell us a little bit about that transition.
OMTIMES.COM
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: Well, it wasn’t a path that I consciously chose, so it’s never that I was unhappy being a Tax Manager. I loved my career. I loved what I was doing, and I felt that I was helping people with their taxes and advising them on their businesses and their careers. Especially with people who didn’t have the business savvy. So I felt that I was helping and giving back, but I think Spirit had other thoughts in mind. I had always been a Medium since I was a kid, connecting to Spirit, talking to Spirit, but no part of me thought I was supposed to be doing that as a career. It didn’t even cross my mind to do that as a career, but a few years ago there were back-toback circumstances, and I heard very clearly from Spirit to serve. To change paths, to do something different, to create healing in another way, and to help people in another area, and I resisted for a long time. Once I finally surrendered it has been a whirlwind that I’m so grateful for.
SHAY PARKER: Let’s elaborate a bit on that. At what point did you say, “Hey, I’m going to take a different step, I am going to cross over into a huge career change?” Let’s face it, Manager to Medium that’s a big gap there. Was there a significant occurrence in your life that made you finally take the leap?
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: I always say reality to spirituality. It was a big shift. There were a couple of instances. I was taking the CPA exam, and I had it pretty much passed. There are four parts, and I had three out of the four parts passed, and a timetable starts. Once you take your first part, you have a time reference to then pass the other three parts. I was at the end of this timeframe, and I was at my very last part, but at the same time Spirit was very chatty in my ear – very much telling me that I’m not supposed to do this. The night before that exam, I prayed like crazy. I just said, please let me pass this exam, let me have this, let me be a CPA and I promise I’ll serve Spirit. And then I got the results back, and I had failed. At that moment, with a failed score, I lost all the other parts, and my ego was shattered, and I said “Why – Why” and the answer was very clear “Because you cannot compromise with us, now go and serve.” The very next day, I did my first professional reading and have not stopped since. OMTIMES.COM
So that was one of the first indicators, like Wow, I’m supposed to take this path. Another instance that was quite eye opening, I was studying for the exam and I lived in a townhome and had a neighbor we shared a wall, and my heart started to race like crazy. I felt like I had a heart attack, and I grabbed another neighbor, and I said I think something’s wrong with my next-door neighbor. We decided to break into his house. He left his sliding glass back door open. I know this is all so crazy because I opened
up the sliding glass door, I went into his home, I went upstairs, and he was nowhere to be found inside that home. I remember feeling how could I have been so wrong about that. It was obviously wrong, and it felt uncomfortable, and I’m sure my
neighbor thought I was crazy. The next day the neighbor knocked on the door, and he said I heard you were looking for me. I said, yes, and he said, well I was in the hospital. I said next time you go into the hospital you have to tell me.
Two weeks had passed, and I started to have this heart thing again with him. Same thing, going crazy, and now I really think I’m crazy. So, I don’t want to call the neighbor because she’s not going to believe me, right? She’d already helped me last time. So I decided to call 911 because that’s what every normal person does. I had nothing to go on. I was wrong the last time, but now I’m calling the police. It takes them about an hour to get there. I open up the garage, and they tried to open up his back door, but he had learned to lock it. So now the sliding glass back door is locked, and they asked me “Do you want us to break in the door?” I said, “No, you can’t break in the door – what if I’m wrong.” But there was a tiny little window, and it was very tall, but the officers said we could lift you through that window. They were too big to go through it themselves. I said yes, and now I have the police helping me break in which is even all the more fun. I wiggled through this little window, and I climbed into the house, and I walked into the living room, and there was my neighbor – he was OMTIMES.COM
passed away in his armchair. So the Coroner did an autopsy, and they found he had passed from a massive heart attack within the hour that I called them. SHAY PARKER: Oh, my goodness. What did that look like? What did you do? Did you just call the police and say I’m having palpitations? How did you explain this?
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: I know, right. You can’t say I’m having heart palpitations, but I said I am very, very worried about my neighbor, and they said: “What’s happening?” I mean, I didn’t even have an answer. I just said, “I don’t know, I think he’s dying.” And they said, “Well, you know, does he have a family?” I said, “He has no-one.” You know, it was such an adrenaline rush at one point, obviously, and I was concerned because I had been wrong. Two weeks earlier I was wrong. I was shocked when he was passed away, but I also thought “How beautiful that Spirit made sure he wasn’t alone.” That Spirit made sure that I was with him at that moment, that he was found shortly after his passing because he didn’t have friends or family around. It didn’t traumatize me. You would think it would traumatize me, but it didn’t. It felt so peaceful. I think, finally, it was such a sign from Spirit
that it felt peaceful. It’s a wake-up story, though, isn’t it?
something else and then having the courage to follow through with it.
SHAY PARKER: Well, I think that with mediumship it’s not traumatizing because you have awareness from a very young age that this is merely a physical incarnation. I mean the soul is eternal, so even though they’re not physically here you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that life continues. So at that point, you decided to make the career change, because I guess with two signs that powerful you knew this was your best path at that point?
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: I knew it was the destined path, and I still had worries and reservations. I was making six figures a year. I had a lot of security. I had paid benefits. I had paid vacations. I worked with a great group of people. But, something very deep inside made me know that I had to surrender it, I had to let go. It wasn’t comfortable, and it wasn’t easy, and I want to stress that to people. It’s not that you just know it’s going to be perfect, because you don’t know, but you have to have the courage to believe that you’re meant to do something more and have the courage to follow it. That’s just all it was. It came down to courage; it came down to having this feeling of hearing from Spirit I’m supposed to be doing OMTIMES.COM
SHAY PARKER: You went from Manager to Medium. You had a career that was very successful. So the frightening part for people out there who are reading this article now, and maybe thinking I have something, I have more than my 9 to 5 job, I have a calling with Spirit. What would you say to someone? If they’re in that situation, what do you feel is the most important when someone is looking to make a career change? What would you say to them?
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: Because I think that once you know, you’re supposed to do something else, if you stay with what you are currently doing you know you’re settling. We’re not supposed to stay in this life and settle. We’re supposed to push ourselves. We’re supposed to listen to that inner voice, and then have the courage to follow it because when we do the whole universe starts to open up. It’s like when you discover your life’s purpose, or the next path of your purpose, the roads will open up, and opportunities present themselves. And it’s not just about opportunities. It’s about feeling fulfilled. It’s about feeling passionate about something. That’s something I just don’t want people to settle on. Life is too short to settle. Life is too short to play it safe.
SHAY PARKER: You said earlier that you had reticence. So, how does someone know if they are on their true life’s path?
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: I think you have a feeling inside that you want something more, or that there is something more to life. I think another big key is if you find yourself at your work and just drifting off or daydreaming. Not being able to stay grounded or focused at your job. If you feel you’re in a cage, it’s because you’re in a cage. Even if it’s a OMTIMES.COM
beautiful cage with a beautiful view and a nice paycheck, it’s still a cage. The key is to recognize. I am in a cage of some sort, and I’m using fear to stop me. I think recognizing those and understanding what’s happening, and then having the courage to move past it – having the courage to say, hey, I’m going to take a chance on me, I’m going to take a chance on the unknown, and the worst-case scenario is that I’ll come back to where I am. Once I changed paths, and I went into working as a Psychic Medium, I did have a hard time trying to understand why I would have been an Accountant for 14 years. I thought that I’d make a mistake, which I’d go off-path. How could I have gotten that so wrong? Then the book came. I wasn’t trying to write a book. I felt that I would, but I certainly didn’t know what it was. I was on a walk one day and asking a friend “What do you think I should write about?” She said, “What do you think would help people?” It hit me – it was so instant – and I thought my goodness this book is going to help other light workers find their path, find their uniqueness, find a way to use their voice to show the world and stand out and say I’m here.
SHAY PARKER: I can tell you Colby that is such a need in the spiritual community, the topic of your book. If you can, for our readers, elaborate a little bit about your book and explain exactly what it covers.
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: The book is called “Leap of Faith – How to Build Your Spiritual Business.” In this world of light workers and whatever realm that may be, and however someone works, there’s always a connection to soul, self, and spirit. But people don’t talk about the business and its practical side, and there needs to be that side. We have to talk about being professional, being ethical, talk about branding, talk about marketing, and then talk about your tax and legal compliance requirements.
These are things that a lot of people don’t talk about, or a lot of people don’t know, because not everyone comes from a business background in getting into this line of work. I wanted to try and create a book that covered the fear part of it, so Part 1 deals with the fear that we have trusting ourselves, are we good enough, can we put ourselves out there, and it says “Yes, take your leap.” The second OMTIMES.COM
part is saying alright, well now that you’re going to take the leap, figure out who you are, what name you want to use, what kind of brand you want to use. Also, starting to put yourself out there in the way of professional telephone and website. Then it also goes into what type of business foundation. I mean, most people don’t understand there are different business foundations. You can be a sole proprietor, or you can be a corporation. So the book gives you a little bit of a basic understanding of that. Then it also goes into tax deductions, because most people don’t know even what financial statements are, so it’s helping them on that practical aspect. Then it goes into social media because a lot of us don’t know how to use it to allow us to shine, or how to attract our tribe. Then the last part of it deals with legal disclaimers, client forms, integrity, and ethics. It tries to cover everything for people to have a little bit of a blueprint and a little bit of a foundation in how to build their own successful business.
SHAY PARKER: I know from doing the work that I do that it is incredibly needed in the spiritual community because, as you have stated, there are so many people that have the metaphysical or the conscious connection, even unconscious
connection to Spirit, but when it comes to how do I incorporate my business, or how do I do a website, or how do I pick a logo, it is not even in their realm of consideration because it’s not their world. I really feel that you have an incredible gift of combining the 14 years that you served in corporate as a Tax Manager along with your spiritual side because that has truly melded into this perfect blend of yes, I can communicate with Spirit, but there’s this whole other component that in order to be the best messenger of spirit that I can be, I have to have this side of it covered. It’s like building the foundation to your house.
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: If you don’t stand out, if you don’t find a way to stand out and show who you are, the world can’t find you. So, how are you going to heal, how are you going to create healing and closure or whatever modality you want to use to serve Spirit, or serve a community? If people can’t find you, if you don’t find a way to show them how special you are or that you’re professional – you have a professional headshot, you have a professional website, you have a protocol, you have policies in place – that brings ease and comfort to a client, that’s exactly what we want to establish. The Client wants to know what they’re getting, and they want a level of professionalism. The other OMTIMES.COM
thing, too, is that I know there are a lot of people who are afraid. We’re not supposed to be professional if we’re light workers. I don’t know who came up with that, but of course, you’re supposed to be successful. What better way to spread the word and spread the love and spread the light and spread the message than for us to do this work from the heart, with love, with passion, and do well at it.
SHAY PARKER: Absolutely. Let’s face it; we’re all earthly creatures. We have to survive, we have to pay our mortgages, we have to pay our car payments, we have to go to the grocery store, and we have to buy gas. Like it or not, this is the society and the world we live in as a physical incarnation. Therefore, we have to meet our physical and monetary needs. So to better serve Spirit, you have to get paid to do what you do, and there’s nothing wrong with that. A Doctor is paid to heal a broken arm or to cast a broken arm. That’s a whole other book you could write because there are a lot of opinions out there about that. I think the book is a great guide and readers that are interested can buy the book either on Amazon, or they can just visit your website http://www.psychicrebel.com correct, Colby?
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: Yeah. There’s a tab on the website, or if they go onto Amazon and put “Leap of Faith Colby” they can find it easily that way.
SHAY PARKER: OK, wonderful. Now we’re going to have to wrap up shortly, but Manager to Medium you’ve taken this new path – or I shouldn’t even really say new – I should say old is new – it’s just an additional part of your path. What would you say is the most difficult part of pursuing your spiritual path?
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: It’s the uncertainty. There’s no guarantee. When I did tax returns, I’m guaranteed that people were required to file a tax return. I’m guaranteed to have a job. As long as there are taxes I have a job, so there was a comfort level, there was a guarantee in it, and there was a level of security. When I went to pursue Psychic Medium I didn’t have that guarantee. I didn’t know if the public would respond. I didn’t know if I could become successful or would love it as much as I enjoyed being a Tax Manager. That uncertainty was the most difficult part. I’ll tell you. I had no savings, I had just moved in which my rent was double than it was going to be, and I had to give my work two weeks’ notice if I was going to OMTIMES.COM
complete a Master Teacher Program. So I either had to stay in my job, or I had to give the notice to say I was going for a Master Teacher. It was scary. I was tormented, and I was so stressed out, but I listened to that inner voice. I’d listen to it, and I’m so happy that I did.
SHAY PARKER: I know and believe me you have made so many people happy as well because you did. So speaking of happy, what is the best part of your life right now?
COLBY PSYCHIC REBEL: I feel like the best part is that I wake up feeling like I contributed something to the world. You know, when you have a Client before you, and you can connect them to their loved one in such a way that is authentic and genuine and give them that sense of
reconnection and healing and closure, it is by far one of the most gratifying feelings in the world. It’s so inexplicable the high that it gives you that it makes you understand what life is about. Life is not about a tax return. Life is about human connection and Spirit connection. SHAY PARKER: It’s so much greater than we can ever conceive. Colby Psychic Rebel, it has truly been an absolute pleasure having you on this interview, and I once again want to commend you and thank you, truly thank you, for all the work you’ve done and all the people you’ve helped out there because you truly are making a difference. I, for one, am very happy that you made the leap from Manager to Medium. So, everyone, Colby Psychic Rebel.

Innovative new approaches to Healing as well as holistic methods for dealing with health issues and personal growth
One of the most advantageous aspects of fasting is the effect it has on our emotional states. Although emotions often feel more intense during and after a fast, this phenomenon is part of a natural process. The calmer an individual remains during a fast, the easier it is for them to move through emotional
Omtimes.com
experiences. Research has noted common emotional themes during fasting, most notably related to feelings of irritability and joy. The negative emotions that surface during fasting tend to relate to feelings of grief over the temporary loss of food. Perhaps the most prevailing
beliefs of human nature is that people need food in order to survive. As noted in the hierarchy of needs as created by psychologist, Abraham Maslow, food is associated to basic survival. In some instances, this need is so great it overshadows one’s ability to see clearly. From the day we are born, the desire for food reigns dominant. The inner drive for food is almost constantly present on some level throughout life and rarely leaves. Attachment to food is undeniable. As soon as an individual attaches to something, a situation starts in which he or she may have to grieve its loss. Because attachment to food is interrupted during a fast, grief is a significant part of the fasting experience.
fasting will challenge the most fundamental of all belief systems. For those who unconsciously avoid their feelings by using food, fasting provides an opportunity to face the pain hidden beneath that relationship. For someone who uses food as a coping mechanism or to fill an emotional void, fasting can reveal unhealthy habits. Fasting creates suffering on many levels, but the degree to which one is able to feel one’s suffering is parallel to one’s ability to feel joy. Italian psychiatrist Robert Assagioli suggested that these higher experiences activate feelings from the lower unconscious. Thus, it creates anxiety as we feel wounded, fearful, angry, and depressed.
The grief that is connected with fasting has the potential to create significant positive growth if participants are able to recognize their less productive attachments and let go of them. In this manner, fasting can assist with detachment from our mundane everyday existence.
Similar to other consciousnessraising events such as mediation, fasting can potentially create psychological and spiritual disturbances. We associate fasting with these types of changes because of the unique relationship it has with the psychospiritual aspects of human development.
If an individual associates food with love and nurturing,
The term psychospiritual is defined in a variety of ways, Omtimes.com
beyond the literal and conceptual reunion of the psyche and the spirit. In human development, it can be defined as the relationship between selfconcept, emotional well-being, sources of inspiration, as well as the meaning and purpose in one’s life. Some clinicians have suggested that psychospiritual approaches to psychotherapy can help facility change on the deepest levels of consciousness. The goal of both the faster and the psychotherapist is to recognize which psychospiritual aspects of the person’s life are preventing psychospiritual growth. When fasting, an individual has the potential to experience psychospiritual autophagy. This is a term I coined to explain the process of holistic reintegration that occurs during fasting. Autophagy is a normal biological process in the body that is self-protective. During fasting, for example, the body segregates and digests portions of cell’s cytoplasmic material. Recent research into fasting and cancer has shown that the process of autophagy has certain healing powers. Omtimes.com
These include the power to shrink and, in some cases, completely eliminate benign growths, such as breast cysts and uterine fibroids. These are prime examples of nonessential tissue that become recycled during a fast. The phenomenon of autophagy explains why persons who fast experience tremendous physiological changes, and may also suggest why remarkable psychological and spiritual changes occur as well. The theory of psychospiritual autophagy proposes that fasting induces various types of autophagy on three levels; physiological, psychological, and spiritual. During psychospiritual autophagy, the psyche segregates and digests emotional and spiritual imbalances much in the same way as cellular autophagy. For people who experience psychospiritual autophagy-a significant change in the psychospiritual realm-postfasting psychotherapy may be a useful intervention. The purpose and focus of psychotherapy would be to assist the faster in assimilating
the psychospiritual changes that occurred during the fast. This prevents the faster from using defense mechanisms to dismiss or deny these changes. This premise, based on the theory of holism, suggests that when something as significant as autophagy occurs, it impacts the person on all levels; mind, body, and spirit. This belief system is based on the principle of holism. Holistic approaches to health care appeared in what was termed psychosomatic medicine in the 1970s. These were used to conceptualize and treat psychosomatic phenomena. Instead of charting one-way causal links from the psyche to soma (the body), or vice-versa, it aimed at a systemic model. In this model, we see multiple biological, psychological and social factors as interlinked. At present, it is commonplace in psychosomatic medicine to state that we cannot separate the psyche and the body for practical or theoretical purposes. A disturbance on any level-somatic, psychic, or social-will radiate to all the other levels as well. In this
sense, psychosomatic thinking is similar to the biopsychosocial model of medicine which links biology, psychology, and sociology in a similar manner. By the early 2000s, psychosomatic medicine had become a psychiatric sub-specialty. psychotherapy, holism is based on the concept that all aspects of a person-psychological, physical, and spiritual-affect one another. We see the whole person comprised of these parts. Therefore, we posit that one aspect of the person cannot be affected without impacting the others. The concept of holism is found in trans-personal psychology and alternative medicine. Fasting often helps with emotional challenges because of how it takes the focus off of our own needs. It opens us to a larger world. Being a Soul in a Physical World by John Holland
Many people who surround themselves with material possessions are under the false illusion that by doing so, it will bring them happiness, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose to their lives. Even when they acquired what they thought were those much needed material possessions, they’ll often find themselves
Omtimes.com
asking: “Why do I still feel so empty inside?” By comparison, people who live a more spiritual life and who work from a soul level realize that there is so much more to this life than the more visible materialistic physical world. I’ve noticed that these people seem to get the bigger picture with a broader
perspective, have a richer understanding of life, and a deeper meaning to who they are, what they do, and how they live their lives. Often you will hear them say: “After all, I don’t really own these things, I’m just taking care of them during this lifetime.” This is so true, as ultimately you can’t take material possessions with you to the Spirit World. I truly believe that the physical world in its current state with every increasing technology to run our lives, it’s pulling us way from our soul. So much so that we forget we even have one! If you’re the type of person who continues to seek answers from just the outside world, then I hope by understanding and working with your soul, it will confirm that there is true wisdom and guidance that’s readily available to all of us, which is found from within. This phenomenal place of unlimited resource is accessible to each and every one of us and once you begin to recognize that, you’ll begin to feel, see, and experience a physical world that you never thought possible.
JOHN’S LESSON This week, here’s one easy exercise you can do even when you don’t have the luxury of lots of time. When you want to experience the feeling of being with your soul, or when you feel you need to slow the pace down when life gets overwhelming and chaotic, simply close your eyes, cross your hands over your heart, breathe deeply and say to yourself: “Find my center.” By doing so, you’ll open the connection with your soul, where you’ll discover that you’re able to let go and gently relax into the present. Enjoy being a soul in a physical world. Live a Soul-filled life!

How to Make All Problems Fall Away by Guy Finley
Perception of a World Full of Problems When we see this world as a hostile place full of problems, where we constantly launch new attacks against a shaky self, it only seems natural for us to be self-protective, and that’s exactly what we do. We put tremendous amounts of energy into developing
Omtimes.com
and carrying out our plans for defense. Thus, we justify our actions to ward off the possible criticism of others. We fawn before people we see as more powerful than we are. We tell ourselves that we are superior to those we see as less powerful than ourselves. So, instead of living our lives fully and freely, we suffer from constantly comparing ourselves to others. At the same time, we unconsciously hope to make ourselves into someone against whom others will compare themselves! In a way, it is as though we have built psychological bunkers from which we peer out at the world, wondering from where the next attack will come. Whenever we find ourselves hunkering down in those bunkers, building our defenses and planning our attacks, it is an excellent time to remember this new view of our lives: that we are actually unfolding from the inside out. This is true regardless of the perception we have that the
problems lie in threatening enemies from outside. This means that instead of putting our attention on what others have done or said, or what the news of the day is, we turn our attention inward. We see it is only our reaction, our belief in the insulted or hurt self, that gives rise to it or that gives it any power over us.
Insight on Cruel Remarks and Fighting Battles In the past, we accepted the cruel remark of a thoughtless person as being something real, with the power to hurt us. Our wrong thinking created the problem, and therefore could never solve it. It was not separate from the problem. As a new and higher awareness observes this and refuses to give our life energy to sustaining this wrong kind of thinking, the problem must fall away of itself. To achieve this state, we must first become tired of fighting
Omtimes.com
all these battles and trying to be strong from our own present idea of strength. We can be that rare person who says, “I won’t try to be strong anymore. I’ll just watch. I’ll start to participate in my life in a whole new way.” This means working to see that our life is created from the inside out. When our tricked perception sees something as threatening, we are tricked into another battle.
Problems as Passing Events - See the Choice Involved When our conscious awareness sees that these ‘problems’ are only passing events and does not involve itself, there are no battles. The only critical issue is what unfolds inside of us. We cannot change, control, or be stronger than anything our mind says is outside of us. But we can be inwardly awake, conscious of the fact that we don’t need to be stronger than what we see because we aren’t really separate from what we see. We just need to start seeing more accurately. Then, we
Omtimes.com
will understand that there is another kind of strength altogether -- a higher strength -- of which we can partake. Resting in that strength means we don’t have to try to win anything outside at all. Is the Cart Before the Horse? by Lynn Zambrano
The Important First Step toward Mindfulness When I talk about mindfulness and being present, sometimes I forget that those are actually steps b and c. Step a is being open to what is. This is the
Omtimes.com
horse that leads the cart. Being open to what is allows us to be present without the egomind thoughts and conflicts that arise. I wake some mornings from a dreamless sleep. Before I remember that I am Lynn and slip into her thoughts... about her dogs needing to be fed, or chores to be done, or worrying about her kids, and in that moment I am aware and in the presence of truth. I am pure joy; no thoughts are present. This is who I am... then I slip into my costume, or mask of Lynn. I use the concept of life is a stage, and we are actors for this reason. We are not who we appear to be. We are the source behind what is being projected.
Is the Cart before the Horse? Life will unfold as it will. I have no control and no need to con-
trol. It would be like going to the movies and trying to control the storyline. It doesn’t matter because I know who I am and it’s not Lynn. She will play her part and through her experiences will be perceived. Energy moves and creates through her. I am the source of energy. Realizing this is like taking a deep breath and relaxing. I feel myself open and I am allowing the flow of energy to occur with no resistance. This is the place where mindfulness happens. I can be truly present. This moment of being open to what is, and allowing-even embracing, with the knowingness of the truth of who I am. When I forget myself and become entrenched in the story of Lynn wonderful little learning opportunities occur. They may look like conflict, or problems but are really speed bumps to wake myself up and

remember the truth. Then I course correct my thinking and recenter myself and resume the position of openness to what is. I remember who I am....
Divinity in the Timeless All Whether the term divine, godself, consciousness, source or truth is used to describe it, it is that connection beyond ego persona. With my human mind I can’t wrap my head around it, yet I am aware of it. The bigger truth of all that exists, beyond the stories that are created is where I am most aware that there is no self. That means no limits or separation exists, only all-ness. I am the grass, the tree, the sky and all that appears as not me. What freedom and joy is in that space! There is total acceptance in that moment. All that I have is this moment, no past and no future. The
Omtimes.com
past is my perception of a story I told, and the future is a story I’m creating. Only in this moment can I be aware of the truth of who I really am. I can do this if I slow down, observe what ego persona is creating and look beyond that where words do not exist. Words create separation, it describes and limits, go beyond into the stillness, and quiet. Let the mind and heart open, listen to silence and become aware, feel the flow of energy and rest in the joy that occupies that space. So, when it comes to mindfulness, do not put the cart before the horse. About the Author Lynn Zambrano is an intuitive empath. She shares what she has learned to guide and support others. Discovering the Controversial Documentary on Vaccines With a powerful film title, the documentary Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe might deter proponents of vaccines and conventional medicine from seeing it, assuming this is an antivaccination tirade. In fact, the documentary was “deselected” from the Tribeca Film Festival at the end of March 2016 after being considered “antivaccine” by some filmmakers and journalists who had not seen the film. And, of course, there are those who wish to dismiss it as another conspiracy theory. Yet, this compelling and wellresearched film clearly reveals Omtimes.com
an alarming story from a whistleblower, a Senior Scientist at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It is a story every citizen should know, especially parents, parentsto-be, doctors and those in the health care industry (whom we all expect to be well-informed). After viewing Vaxxed, actor Robert DeNiro, a Tribeca Film Festival co-founder, renounced the deselection of the film saying, “I think the movie is something that people should see.” I do, too.
More on What Viewers Can Expect Throughout the film, recorded phone conversations between the whistleblowing scientist Dr. William Thompson and biologist
Dr. Brian Hooker weave around disturbing family accounts of notable onsets of autism after receiving the measles-mumpsrubella vaccine (MMR), instances of fraudulent activities within the CDC, and informative insights from well-respected doctors and scientists, including pediatrician Dr. James M. Sears and a recipient of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, virologist Dr. Luc Montagnier. Vaxxed is clearly not an antivaccination film. The documentary doesn’t even question the efficacy of vaccines, but rather poignantly asks some deeper questions regarding the significant rise of autism cases over the past two decades, the transparency of the CDC, the monetary motivations within the industry, the practices surrounding vaccine testing, and the distribution - or perhaps omission - of critical data related to the MMR vaccine. Director Dr. Andrew Wakefield became a controversial figure in the medical industry after getting “discredited” for a study he submitted to a medical journal, The Lancet. Furthermore, he has never stated that parents should stop vaccinating. In Vaxxed, Dr.
Wakefield openly shares his deep concerns with the MMR combination vaccine, advocating for a single dose vaccine as a safer alternative - which, interestingly, is no longer available.
Approaching with a Conscious Parenting Perspective In 1993, while pregnant with my first child, I had no idea vaccines were optional in my state; I hadn’t even questioned them. Once their potential dangers and questions of efficacy came to my attention, I dove deep into research wanting to make the best choice for my baby before giving birth. A critical component I learned was that my decision didn’t have to be an allor-nothing resolution. Rather, if I opted to vaccinate, it could be thoughtful assessments of which and when. In addition to concerns over combination vaccines, Vaxxed reveals the potentially hazardous consequences of inoculating children between 12 and 15 months of age with MMR, especially for African-American males. Even though I had kept somewhat abreast on the vaccination topic over the past 23 years, Vaxxed took me “behind Omtimes.com
the scenes of the autism-vaccine controversy and illuminated some bigger concerns. Aside from parental observations, I have never been able to do research on the health of vaccinated versus non-vaccinated children because they do not exist. In 2002, I was able to order a tetanus-only vaccine for my two older children, but didn’t realize that other single-dose vaccines have since become unavailable in the United States. As well, I did not realize that there is no testing for vaccines under the same provisions as pharmaceutical drugs. The lack of CDC transparency and government action exposed in this film, unfortunately, did not surprise me.
Vaxxed has Four Goals and is a Call to Action Summarizing the goals of Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe, there are four demands to help ensure safer vaccines. It is more than just a documentary, it is a call to action, requesting: 1) That Congress subpoena Dr. William Thompson and investigate the CDC fraud. 2) That Congress repeal the 1986 Omtimes.com
National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act and also hold manufacturers liable for injury caused by their vaccines. 3) The immediate availability of the single measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine. 4) The classification and testing of all vaccines as pharmaceutical drugs. As a California mother of four, recent laws strip my medicalchoice rights in the area of childhood vaccinations. Thus, I found myself irritated at the footage of Dr. Richard Pan pushing Senate Bill 277, a bill he authored. The bill mandated vaccines for all children in public and private California schools, which has now become law. Other bothersome aspects are several pro-vaccine commercials and snippets of Vaxxed-casted children offering an alternative view. The use of child actors may be unnecessarily manipulative. It does not, therefore, convince the audience that these youth have developed their own informed viewpoints. Aside from these personal responses in watching the film, the only other drawback I found was there seemed to be a negative portrayal of autism.
Most of us understand that not all vaccines cause autism. Likewise, not all cases of autism are the result of vaccinations, and autism spans a wide spectrum of conditions. There are many people on the autism spectrum living productive, happy lives.
Disconcerting Facts about Testing Vaccines for Child Safety In 90 minutes, Vaxxed focuses on the sound concerns of the whistleblower and other experts, and highlights heart-wrenching stories of families with vaccine-injured children. The film offers disconcerting facts about vaccine testing. It also reveals disturbing, weak links in regard to public information and child safety. Educational, concise and in some cases passionately raw, the interviews are certainly persuasive. Assumedly for his protection, Dr. William Thompson is never filmed in the documentary, nor are his images revealed. This could lead some critics to question his existence and/or the validity of his claims. The sooner Congress subpoenas Dr. Thompson, the better - for a multitude of reasons. Whichever side of the vaccine aisle one stands on, fear seems to be
the greatest weapon of choice to influence the opposition. Some might consider Vaxxed nothing more than an anti-vaccine fear tactic. However, I highly recommend any independent thinkers to give it an open-minded watch and decide for themselves. And, if inspired, follow it up with mindful action. Holding the Light: Visualizing the Future by Judi Lynch
In this time of great chaos and spiritual evolution, we all have our roles to play. Some of us are activators, while some of us are motivators. Our ever-changing lives all have unique purpose and themes to understand in our personalities, forms of expression, and creativity. Existence takes each of us on a future journey to discover our emotional strengths, spiritual connections, and metaphysical abilities. Everyone has a light to shine in their own unique way. Omtimes.com
In current society, it is incredibly necessary in times of fear, change and anxiety to bring in positive thoughts, actions and motivations. Now, more than ever, we need to hold onto the light that brought us here. To live in reality means to face the challenges that humanity has created and aspire for better understanding of our purposes, to be heard. It can certainly seem like we have many souls who incarnated here to start fires, make judgments and declare war on mankind. In those people we witness what the lower vibrations can manifest with negative energy and toxic thoughts. They help to wake us up in unity for our light to increase instead of dim. We are not here to cower in fear and anxiety but to overcome those feelings of hopelessness with courage. In learning to own who we are, we believe without fear of persecution. We need the light bearers who work to lift others up onto the higher ground. We have people among us with new ideas, methods and discoveries to do just that. Those who dare
to aim for what is beyond the stars into the possibilities of tomorrow’s miracles use every option and future theory to their advantage. Many people are here to motivate our compassion to take action on changing what can bring us harm. The peacemakers and protectors of this world have a unique mission in which to find balance between what we see as good and evil among us. It’s easy to tell ourselves and others to turn off the television, become more spiritual and less materialistic. Better yet, why not gather together and demand that the programming offered become more intellectual, beneficial and enlightening to humanity? Why do we turn it off instead of offer alternatives to educate people to evolve? Do we really need another program where people are allowed to bully, hit and abuse each other in awful ways? Do we really need to know everyone’s personal business in a million reality shows about nothing? Why did it come to this when we have the technology to land on Mars? Do we really need another crime or murder drama? Omtimes.com
Not only horribly graphic, disgusting and disturbing they are putting out incredibly negative energy with a generous dose of anxiety ridden fear. There really are more good guys than evil ones, we should be reminded of this. We don’t need more examples of bad behavior. Our children and grandchildren need hope, positive roles models and tools to manifest a brighter future for everyone on the planet. Instead of watching people kick each other and pull each other’s hair, maybe we could watch them heal each other with unconditional love, compassion and a humor that doesn’t disrespect anyone. Now there’s a concept. Every single one of us is here to shine a light on something, to bring awareness to a cause, to be a catalyst for great present and future change, to be an example of why change is needed. It has become a necessary art to learn how to discern the energies and motives of those around us to keep ourselves in light minded thought.
Omtimes.com
We are here to hold the light no matter what seems like darkness around us. Just like the sun lights the Earth every day, we hold the energy that sustains us in this Universe. All the creative forces, all those who heal others, grow food, rescue animals know the meaning of cooperation is necessary in our survival. We have so much we could share with each other if we know how to shine a light on our voices, passions, skills and dreams together. This is how we build understanding, holding the light to outshine our fears in moving forward. About the Author Judi Lynch is a psychic medium, intuitive counselor, healing channel and author. Nurturing Children with Spiritual Gifts by Deborah Livingston
More and more children, all over the world, are naturally gifted with psychic, medium, spiritual abilities and gifts. If a child is genuinely gifted they will display signs from birth. As parents we need to not only understand but become more mindful and nurture the blessings these children possess.
The Signs of a Naturally Gifted Child Become Evident Early We may notice a gifted child talking to themselves. They may Omtimes.com
point to things that appear not to be there to us. They will tell us about their dreams and mention loved ones they have never met that have passed. Most gifted children most always have an imaginary friend with a name and spend much of their time with such friend. This is real and a spirit from the spirit word. The spirit can be a passed loved one or a spirit guide. There is a small percentage of children that invent an imaginary friend but most are real.
These gifted children are shy and sensitive both physically and emotionally. Blessed children may speak of some incident before it has happened, and then it does. Gifted children often have tried to indicate they are someone else, with another name and parents, and what their experiences were. This is generally a past life that wasn’t completely erased before incarnating this life. Children with these gifts may also be an empath and even not feel comfortable in large crowds. All these are signs of children with psychic, medium, and spiritual gifts. Children may display some or all of these signs. In essence, your child is very open, sensitive and aware of energy.
Every Child has Psychic Predisposition Every child is psychic. It is upbringing, society and conditioning whether from teachers or other children. The way children ultimately begin to form their thoughts, beliefs and reality of life is what determines how open they remain. Or, it could just be their destiny. In which case to understand this destiny is how to approach nurturing it.
Psychic and spiritual gifts in children vary from one child to the next, in an interesting array of specialties. Some children may see spirit, have physical phenomena, psychic knowledge etc. Some may have all of these spiritual gifts but some may less. It is similar to children born with potential of professional athletic gifts. Some may excel on the basketball court or football field but cannot ever pick up the knack for skating or baseball. Others are born writers but may never be able to carry a tune. Some are born artists but could never perform in a movie etc. We are all born with some sort of natural God-given gifts. With most of these gifts, there is provided support further education, training and practice. Most children born with psychic or spiritual gifts are not accepted or encouraged.
Discovering One’s Natural Abilities When I was a child, I communicated with animals and nature. There were vivid dreams that spoke of the future. I definitely could see and talk with my spirit-guides and the spirits Omtimes.com
of my deceased relatives and physical phenomena.
to have the resources available to them that other born gifts have.
I always felt and someone with me, walking next to me, and telling me everything would be okay. This was so normal to me; I did not believe my parents when they said it wasn’t real. I knew better, and thought everyone was like this until I went to school and learned the truth.
Feeling Compassion for Gifted Children
Feeling alone, there was no support, acceptance, no one to talk to or direct me. I felt very sad, confused and like an outcast. I never lost my gifts as I’m positive it is my destiny. These gifts are a blessing and an honor.
Psychic mediums such as myself have an important role to provide the education to parents interested in knowing how to nurture their children with these gifts. It would be a shame for any more children with these divine/ prophetic gifts to grow up feeling as weird, strange, bullied, thinking they were crazy and alone. It can ultimately have an effect on the children as they are so open and don’t know how to deal with what they are experiencing.
They came with me into adulthood, so I decided to dedicate my life to using them to heal others. I now have a support system, friends that share the same gifts as I, and tutors that have had tutors. These nurturing educators pass along wisdom learned through generations by sharing their experiences. The tutors guide me into understanding my psychic, medium, and spiritual gifts, and how to grow them stronger every day. Children that possess psychic, medium, and spiritual gifts need Omtimes.com
I feel extremely passionate and compassionate for children with these gifts. They are delicate flowers growing towards the light. They need water and love to unfold their petals of spiritual gifts.
For instance, if gifted children have conversations with someone invisible to others’ eyes, we shouldn’t assume there isn’t really someone there. Not to say that some children don’t make this up but most do not. Perhaps by asking the children with this sign it may help them, understand
who, what and why someone is communicating with them. Another example is if the gifted child is teased by teachers, friends, or other family, or punished, it may close down their abilities. If parents and society continuously tell gifted children that he or she is not really experiencing, these open and impressionable children will push away their gifts. The end result will be the denial of these communications to avoid the painful teasing. We want to encourage our children with natural-born gifts, whether they are art, sports, music or psychic, medium, and spiritual. The current shift in society is positive, but we have a long way to go. Minds are opening up to the possibilities of these gifts within their children. This shift will transition a positive attitude that our children will inherit. We need to keep these gifts generation after generation.
A Supportive Book for Gifted Young People It is for this reason I am embarking on writing another book. This one will be from children for children with the
inherent psychic, medium, and spiritual gifts. It will have some stories of other children, what they experience, and how they feel about it. It will suggest how to approach nurturing your child and serve as a tool to educate you and them. Most of all, it will comfort children with these gifts to know they are not alone and they are very special. If you have a child with psychic, medium, and spiritual gifts and would like to contact me for further information and a possible interview regarding the book, you may email debliv11@gmail.com or phone 617-817-0721. What if Bernie Sanders was Still on the Ballot? by Greer Jonas
What if Bernie was still running for president? Moot point perhaps, but this personality profile of Bernie Sanders’ numerology focus might shed an interesting perspective. Many of you have asked what numerology says about the candidates. (See part one for an unbiased expose on Hillary and Donald, examining their differences, similarities and the shadow of their numbers.) Omtimes.com
In numerology, we can find the skeleton of our potential, our challenge and our brilliance. How we use this organic DNA in our soul’s journey, how we interact with others and share our unique voice, is authentic to each of us. This post will illustrate, through numerology, how the same thread of the number 7 affects the voice of Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz and Jill Stein in a very different way.
Bernie Sanders So when we look at the Bernie Sanders Numerology chart below, the first thing that comes through is his voracious excitement in his speech and vision. This is the 5 destiny (add the birthday numbers together - 9+8+1+9+4+1=23. 2+3 = 5).
Bernie Sanders - born Bernard Sanders on 9/8/1941. Destiny 5: (9+8+1+9+4+1 = 32. 3+2 = 5) The five’s life purpose is to be fearlessly out there in the world with people as an entertainer or politician. Inspiration number 8: (Add the sum of birth month plus birth day - 9+8=17. 1+7=8): What inspires Bernie’s journey in life is power -to be a successful and charismatic leader. Shadow: The shadow of the 5 is to have too much
energy, to the point of being over bearing. The five needs to calm down at times and let others be heard. The shadow of the 8 is the need to be in charge. The 8’s lesson is to empower and not inflict power over others. Bernie’s successful career and passionate followers, I believe, is due to his compassion and understanding of empowering the underdog. What does Bernie Sanders Numerology name chart show? Looking at the chart above, we see a 7 soul’s essence, a 9 value system and a 7 expression number. Here lies the problem as well as the attraction to Bernie. The seven (7) is a spiritual number and the unique nonconformist. The person who thinks out of the box. This appeals to many but also many cannot relate and feel his ideas are too extreme to the left. Also there is a huge dichotomy between the 8 that wants power and the 7 that steers away from it. Omtimes.com
Ted Cruz
And then there was Republican candidate Ted Cruz, earlier this year fighting neck and neck with Donald Trump.
Ted Cruz - Born, Rafael Edward Cruz on 12/22/1970. Ted has a 6 destiny and a 7 inspiration number. Destiny 6: 1+2+2+2+1+9+7+0 = 24. 2+4 = 6 Inspiration number 7: 1+2+2+2 =7 Here lies a much harder “sell” than the other candidates. His numbers do not have the flair of Donald, with his 4 (take charge) personality and 11 inspiration number. Shadow: The 6 destiny is more Omtimes.com
docile and people pleasing. The seven inspiration number is inspired by a strong internal and spiritual belief system. Both numbers could never put up a strong enough fight against Hillary, Donald or even Bernie. These numbers surprise me a bit as the norm of the 6 destiny would be a compassionate healer and family person. Well perhaps his “family values and spiritual beliefs” are strong, just not mine. Ted Cruz Numerology name chart: Perhaps an important influence of the confusion I mentioned above is Cruz’s name chart vibrations of 8/8/7. This might be the crux of the matter. As with Sanders, the 8 is all about power. Yet with a 7 expression, perhaps Cruz’s internal fight is between power and influencing his spiritual belief system on others.
Jill Stein
The 2016 Green Party Candidate, Jill Stein is an American physician, activist and politician. She also has a 7 in her chart -her destiny. (5+1+4+1+9+5+0 = 25. 2+5 = 7) How is this different from Cruz or Bernie?
Destiny 7: The seven destiny is not driven by power but by understanding the unknown and the internal meaning of self versus the world. Inspiration number 1: What inspires Stein is the 1 - leadership and inspiring ideas. Her drive in life is to encourage others to find a new outlook and approach towards our environment, for example. Shadow: The seven destiny can tend to be introverted, passive and quiet, focusing more on the inner understanding than the “win”. The goal is typically not about power but more
about meaning. In this 2016 candidacy, I think Stein offers another view besides the aggressive “win and attack” of her opponents. Jill Stein Numerology name chart: Her 5/6/11 combination describes a person who is out there with people (5), has compassion (6) and expresses herself with a master 11, through leadership and inspiration. Fill Your Life with Gratitude by Baba Shuddhaanandaa Brahmachari
Research on the merits of practicing gratitude has shown what Eastern wisdom has known for thousands of years. We can change our inner and outer world completely through qualities of our inner spirit, like practicing gratitude. Gratitude is strongly
Omtimes.com
and consistently associated with greater happiness, as well as better physical and mental health, reads a note from Harvard Medical School. “Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships,” researchers write.
A Moment of Gratitude Can Fill Your Life Imagine we program our mind when we go to bed. We sit quietly and relax our whole body from head to toes and then breathe consciously till our mind comes to a state of quiet tranquility. Then we visualize all the good things that happened that day. We smile and pray and express our gratitude for all the happenings. Then we also remember the bitter experiences of the day. We recall when we were hurt, felt sad, felt little down for a while, and thank God for the lessons that we learned.
Isn’t it true that we have the mix of pleasant and unpleasant things that cycle through our life every day, moment to moment, whether we want it or not? At night when we thank the universe both for the pleasant ones and also for the lessons that we learned from the unpleasant ones, we grow from inside; it invariably creates an atmosphere in our mind where we can feel at ease, feel less stressed. Gratitude indeed is the language of God. We all have personally experienced the reality that when we helped someone and they came back to us and expressed love and gratitude, we felt so happy from inside. Feeling humbled, we always say, “you are welcome,” which means deep down we always welcome gratitude in our lives.
Humble Gratitude Ushers Happiness Gratitude is a very positive energy. Whenever we feel
Omtimes.com
deeply grateful to anyone, or the Divine, we instantly feel a deep sense of inner peace and humility. Happiness flows through us, and our body language changes completely. This happens for we are in the domain of higher energy and frequency. In the moment we are having that feeling we are uplifted. We start to attract higher thoughts and vibrations from higher worlds. When we are filled with love, all distance seems to disappear. We feel closeness, oneness, love and gratitude. It simply uplifts us to our own higher Self.
do it without even knowing it! It takes the coordinated effort of millions of cells in absolute synchronicity to create this miracle of blinking. Imagine the eyelid drops and has no power to lift, could we see? All our possessions and glory would disappear in a moment if we lose the sight of our beautiful eyes! Spirituality teaches us this simple thing in life, “be simple, be humble, be grateful, be loving, be who you are! The wise ones always taught us that the biggest accomplishment in life is to be who you are, who I am.
We all feel just the reverse when we are filled with negative emotions and unpleasant thoughts. We have the choice to either be happy or unhappy in life. If we choose to be happy there is no other way but to evoke the positive energy of gratitude for the millions of gifts that the universe floods us with, moment to moment.
Love and Gratitude - A Universal Language
Just imagine the blinking of our eye; we take it for granted and
Omtimes.com
The moment we lead a meditative life of simplicity and humility we find the whole nature comes to our support. Our inner energy of the spirit, which is the witnessing consciousness, is immensely powerful and is ready to shower us with all that we need in life to be truly happy. We all are seeking nothing, but through our efforts, we are trying to reach that point where
we have an incessant flow of happiness that is not dependent on the unpredictable things outside of us.
unhappy and afflicted. We will become the conduits of the Divine energy and healing for the world.
Let us follow the universal language of love and gratitude. Let us recognize the hidden message of water. Seventy percent of our body is water that needs to be kept pure. This is possible only when we understand that happiness and joy cannot be given to us from external sources. Even if it is given, it can be withdrawn any moment. Hence, the only way open to us is to change our inner environment.
Let us worship gratitude, let us be the worshipers of love, let us be the worshipper of the light that is shining in each cell in our body as the Life Principle. And let us be one with the Universal Force that is Life in its beauty and holiness.
If we live inside of us with a most sacred environment of love and gratitude, we can attract the abundance of the gifts of Mother Nature. We won’t need to be happy then, for happiness will flow from the inner fountain of life, at the base of spine, from our lower chakras to the higher. Our joy and happiness will spill forth in all directions, touching and healing those who are

During the awards ceremony Streep went to the ladies’ room and forgetfully left the coveted gold statue on the toilet seat. For her, acting was the real gold. The trophy it led to was an afterthought. Truly creative people are more interested in the process of creating than its side effects. They do not create in order to get something else. The joy of creating is reward enough in itself. Awards and accolades are not the goal; they are the byproducts of the goal. To dwell in the sacred state of creation is heaven; trying to manage the results is hell. Never deny or withhold your creative gifts. They will pay off first in spirit, and then in the world.
E-valu-ation - Music at a Price When you know you deserve to be paid for your creative
gifts and service, you will be. Karen Drucker is a talented career musician who grew weary of playing for corporate conferences, weddings, and bar mitzvahs. After many years of performing pop tunes, she longed to launch out on her own, write original songs on uplifting themes, and perform for people who were actually listening. So Karen decided to take a leap of faith and establish a career as a recording and concert artist for audiences attracted to music that nourishes the spirit. Initially Karen’s venture was shaky. It wasn’t easy to establish a new career in a field less popular than mass music. She got a few gigs, but there was more space between them than she had hoped, and the income was meager. One day Karen found a musician’s magazine she wanted to subscribe to. On the subscription page she found two rates offered: (1) Regular,

and; (2) a discounted rate called Starving Artist. Karen started to check the Starving Artist box, but then caught herself. Wait a minute, she thought. Do I really want to affirm that I am a starving artist? Karen’s training in new thought had taught her that she would become whatever she thought about herself, and especially how she described herself. She did not want to identify herself as a starving artist who could not afford the regular subscription rate. So she took another leap of faith, checked the Regular box, and paid the higher fee.
Creativity and Paid Success Can Go Together Within a few days Karen received a wealth of invitations to perform, and checks in the mail. Her affirmation of herself as a successful artist became a reality. When she purposely checked the box that represented her ideal self rather than her feared self, that is the person she became. Karen went on to become an extremely successful performer

for new thought audiences, traveling around the world, earning an excellent income, and receiving awards for her original music. Now she is a well-fed artist. It is very common for artists of all kinds to think and speak of themselves as starving artists. They do not realize the great disservice they do to themselves and their peers by affirming this lackful condition. Belief systems are reinforced by the spoken word and by agreement. What you call yourself, you become. Take care - great care - to never define yourself or your condition as less than you would like it to be. Always speak of yourself and your work in terms of the ideal conditions you wish to create, and they will follow.
Short on Time, Long on Talent There are many ways you can and will be paid for your creativity, some that go far beyond money. At age 61, Andy Mackie had
gone through nine heart surgeries and was taking 15 medications. He was tired of the surgeries, medications, and side effects. So he decided to just enjoy his life even if his time was short. He quit taking the medications, took the $600 per month he was spending on the pills, bought 300 harmonicas, went into schools to teach children how to play them, and waited to die. When he didn’t die, he did the same thing the next month, and the next. He forgot about dying and started to live.
Creativity brings life and rewards you on all levels. You can assess your mental and emotional health by the degree of creativity in which you are engaged. Are you expanding and growing? Are you launching into uncharted territory? Do you welcome challenge and change as opportunities to advance? Be true to your creativity, and life will take care of you in wondrous and miraculous ways.
Andy went on like this for years, using his social security checks to purchase more and more musical instruments, including guitars and drumsticks. Ten years later Mackie was still alive and had used his money previously devoted to medicine to purchase over 20,000 harmonicas and 5,500 music sticks. When he finally left this world, even though his physical heart was worn out, his spiritual heart was fully alive.

When you look at the view of Earth from space, you are immediately in awe of what you do see: the incredible beauty of Creation. It is not until you look closer that you realize what you do not see. You do not see lines partitioning countries. You do not see separation between races. You do not see division between religions. You do not see the walls people build to isolate themselves from each other. There is only One Planet. There is only One Humanity. This section is dedicated to introducing thoughts and ideas to foster a greater understanding of Humanity’s interdependence.

Synchronized Prayer and Meditation Can Create Measurable Social Change By David Nicol, PhD
Spiritual or consciousness-based practices like meditation, prayer, and ritual—in addition to their positive effect on individuals—may play a subtle, yet crucial, role in supporting change in the world. The intentional use of such practices for collective, and not merely individual, benefit can be understood as a subtle form of activism, or subtle activism. Subtle activism is a creative approach to social engagement that broadens the traditional scope of both activism and spirituality.
On the one hand, subtle activism can be seen as a novel component of an integrative spirituality that aims to extend our spiritual attention to all aspects of our lives, including our participation in the social and political realm. On the other, it can be viewed as part of an integral approach to social change that seeks to address the underlying psychological and spiritual dimensions of sociopolitical transformation alongside outer actions. In straddling the worlds of spirituality and social change, subtle activism represents a bridge between the consciousness movement and the movements for peace, environmental sustainability, and social justice.

Although tales of yogis, shamans, and other adepts intervening on spiritual levels for the benefit of humanity is the stuff of ancient lore, my work constitutes the first comprehensive treatment of this topic. I propose that the wider use of consciousness-based practices that focus on social or collective transformation has the potential to support a deeper integration of the positive dimensions of spirituality into modern public life, thereby enabling the public realm to become more permeable to such universal spiritual qualities as compassion, wisdom, and love. I believe that the practice of subtle activism is an especially meaningful response to the contemporary global situation, offering both a stabilizing presence to help humanity through the multifaceted global crisis that looms before us, and a means for enacting the (re-)enchanted planetary awareness that a growing number of scholar’s regard as the basis for an alternative human future beyond, or around, the crisis.

By connecting the paths of inner and outer transformation, subtle activism stands in the lineage of spiritually inspired activism, or socially engaged spirituality, as exemplified by such inspirational public figures as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne, and as articulated by contemporary scholars and teachers such as Michael Lerner, Andrew Harvey, James O’Dea, Joanna Macy, Starhawk, David Loy, Marianne Williamson, Kurt Johnson, Matthew Fox, and Donald Rothberg. Subtle activism is distinguished by its emphasis on the potential of spiritual practice itself to constitute a subtle form of action in the sociopolitical sphere. The use of spirituality as a source of renewal for overworked activists and of inspiration for wise outer action is vital for supporting creative and sustainable approaches to social engagement. But to limit spirituality to these roles in the context of social change work may be to reinforce the modern Cartesian divide in which mind or consciousness is seen as fundamentally distinct from—and usually subservient

to—the “real” world of physical action. This proposal, in its strongest version, affirms the possibility that certain forms of spiritual practice might themselves subtly effect change in the social realm through the principle of nonlocal causality. Such an approach is not intended to replace more overt or direct forms of activism, or to deny the value of socially engaged spirituality as more commonly conceived. Rather it aims to maximize the potential of a typically overlooked, but possibly crucial, dimension of support in the context of a more integrative approach to social change.
Subtle activism is an umbrella term that describes a wide variety of spiritual or consciousness-based practices intended to support collective transformation. These practices could include a broad range of traditional practices from the world’s major spiritual traditions (e.g., meditation, prayer, chanting, drumming, ritual, ceremony, mindful movement), various psychotherapeutic and healing modalities (e.g., October D 2016 Edition
trauma-release work, dramatherapy), certain transformative forms of art and music, and creative syntheses of these and other similar practices. Although these practices are normally used to support individual growth, they all can be creatively adapted for the purposes of collective transformation, and thus constitute what I mean by subtle activism. Among the many historical and contemporary examples of subtle activism are the following:
• The (admittedly exceptional) claim by Indian sage Sri Aurobindo to have successfully wielded advanced yogic powers in psychic warfare with the Nazis from his bedroom in Pondicherry, India.
• The “Magical Battle of Britain,” a project led by esoteric teacher Dion Fortune to strengthen the will of the British people during World War II through the practice of esoteric visualization techniques by a small London-

based focalizing group and a wider national network.
• The “Big Ben Minute,” another initiative intended to provide moral and spiritual support for the Allied war effort in World War II. The Big Ben Minute involved the daily practice by millions of people of one minute of silence during the chiming of Big Ben on BBC radio immediately before the nightly 9 p.m. news.
• The series of massive peace meditations organized in Sri Lanka in the 1990s by Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne and his Sarvodaya network to help facilitate a peaceful resolution to the Sri Lankan civilwar.
• The WiseUSA initiative, convened by the Gaiafield Project (an organization I helped found), which brought together dozens of socially engaged American spiritual teachers and thousands of participants for a series of online meditation and prayer events intended to support the emergence of wisdom and October D 2016 Edition
compassion in the context of the 2008 and 2012 US electoral processes.
• The “Be The Peace” event on September 21, 2014 (the United Nations-designated International Day of Peace) that linked more than one thousand meditation gatherings in fifty-nine countries worldwide in shared intention to support a shift to a planetary culture of peace.
As these examples demonstrate, subtle activism can be practiced by individuals, small groups, and sometimes, in the case of mass or global meditation events, very large groups. It can be applied to all scales of social organization, from local communities to cities to nations to the whole human species or all life on Earth. It can be used to address various aspects of collective transformation, such as healing collective traumas from the past, providing support during sociopolitical crises or natural disasters in the present, or holding positive visions of a collective future. omtimes.com

People on the spiritual path tend to ignore the realm of politics. Political activists often display the opposite tendency, overlooking personal growth in favor of turning outward to create new legislation. What both groups are missing is a striking new discovery: the startling idea that a change of consciousness can by itself create social change. As odd as it may sound, a critical mass of controlled studies shows that consciousness-based practices like prayer and meditation can have a practical and measurable effect on society. Revolutionary scientific research in the last few decades affirms this proposition. It confirms the intuitions that Gandhi and King used to create the most important reform movements of the last century. And now a global movement is arising that builds upon the methods once used by these great pacifists. The new research enables the current generation of change agents to apply an unprecedented new level understanding to their work, which they now call subtle activism. And the man who is arguably the world’s leading spokesperson for this movement, David Nicol, PhD, has just produced the definitive book on this subject, entitled Subtle Activism: The Inner Dimension of Social and Planetary Transformation. Thanks in part to the efforts of Nicol and his colleagues over the last decade, people all over the world are now regularly engaged in synchronized meditations and prayer events to support a wide variety of causes, in conjunction with inspired pragmatic action. Nicol’s book cites a large body of empirical evidence in support of subtle activism. More than forty studies have been published on the social effects of large meditation groups—including 28 in peer-reviewed scientific journals—and the results show highly significant correlations between the practice of meditation in large groups and improvements in a broad range of social indicators. He also summarizes the impressive track record of movements all over the world that have deployed these methods. The upshot of Nicol’s interdisciplinary study is clear: With the use of subtle activism, spiritual practitioners can apply their hard-won wisdom to the social realm. By the same token, front-line activists now have a powerful tactic that helps them reach deeper and shift human consciousness in positive directions.

Empower Girls Break the Cycle of Dependence
The number one reason girls drop out of school in Sub-Saharan Africa is lack of access to feminine hygiene products. The Pads for Schoolgirls Project, an outreach of Humanity Healing International, is changing this paradigm by setting up sewing programs at schools, teaching girls a vocational skill, while producing the reusable pads that help keep them attending classes. The girls pay it forward by making and giving pad kits to other girls in need. To learn more, visit humanityhealing.org
