Empower Girls Break the Cycle of Dependence

The number one reason girls drop out of school in Sub-Saharan Africa is lack of access to feminine hygiene products. The Pads for Schoolgirls Project, an outreach of Humanity Healing International, is changing this paradigm by setting up sewing programs at schools, teaching girls a vocational skill, while producing the reusable pads that help keep them attending classes. The girls pay it forward by making and giving pad kits to other girls in need. To learn more, visit humanityhealing.org

Sandie Sedgbeer: For the past eight years you have been inspiring a positive revolution online, and in person, which is impacting the lives of many thousands of people all over the world on a daily basis. What inspired you to start inspiring others.

Joshua Coburn: It started with my Grandmother and with hard-core, punk-rock music. I really hit bottom in the late 90’s/early 2000’s due to OMTimes.com

bad decisions. My parents’ divorce wreaked havoc on me. I lost confidence. I lost my personal value, and I was just a lost kid who always knew what he wanted, but listened to the small minds and small-town individuals around me, telling me what I should do rather than following my heart and my gut instinct. During those dark times, I started to realize that I had to create my own happiness. My Grandmother never told me how to live, but she displayed real leadership, kindness, and a giving nature that I’d never seen in anyone. After she passed, all that really clicked; it was what her life was made of, and I realized that she had done that for a reason. Once I started slowly applying those qualities to my own life, I started to see my own purpose and value. And some of the confidence came from the music I was listening to; from hard core punk; from the PMA, the ‘Positive Mental Attitude’, that is pushed by that genre of music as well.

Sandie Sedgbeer: Your book “Inspiration on Demand” was the culmination of a project called “Help Change a Life”. Tell us about that.

Joshua Coburn: “I Helped Change a Life” started when I was digging September D 2016 Edition

myself out of that dark hole that I was in. I would write myself quotes every day, like “smile – it’s contagious,” and I’d stick it on a mirror or somewhere I could see it and it really helped me. Then I put it online, and I started getting messages from students in High Schools, single mothers, people who were struggling with weight issues, soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, saying that what I was posting was changing their lives, and they wanted to see things like that in a book. I thought: ‘Wow, that’s interesting, because essentially they were notes to myself, to keep me on track; and here I am accidentally, doing the same for others.’ The “I Helped a Life Campaign” started as a way to crowd fund the book. It was a group effort. We all chose the cover, and the cover design, the size even the title was voted on. I wrote the words, but that book doesn’t belong to me, it belongs to the people it influenced and who supported it. They believed that I was changing their lives and, because of them it pushed my life and career to a whole other level as well, so they changed my life also. Sandie Sedgbeer: It’s described on Amazon as “A kick-butt, grab and go, toolkit for anyone aspiring for higher level success in their daily lives.” So, how, precisely, does it kick butt?

OMTimes.com

Joshua Coburn: “Inspiration on Demand,” is a very accurate descriptor, because you can open it up when you need it and put your finger anywhere you want, and it will give you a kick in the butt. It was a good realization for me that this quote, or this idea, or that note on that page gives a bit of truth to the reader and, hopefully, something to chew on for the day. This isn’t me telling them how to live life, it’s simply me giving a suggestion, or something to focus on so they can get through the day with a positive thought and a movement to take action on; because quotes, words of wisdom, etc., don’t mean anything unless you’re willing to chew on them and take action. I never intended it to be a sit-down, readthrough type of book. It’s a ‘when you need it, pick it up, get your fuel, and continue to move’ kind of book.

Sandie Sedgbeer: How did the book blossom into this new career you as a motivational speaker, a mentor, radio show host?

Joshua Coburn: I’ve been a writer for years, and I’d released other books that were based on how I was feeling at the time, but “Inspiration on Demand,” being kind of “of the people, for the people and ultimately by the people” really resonated with the public, and it lead to interviews

September D 2016 Edition

on Fox News, and phone calls from different corporations wanting me to speak to employees, and maybe address positivity in the workplace. And schools. I’d been speaking off and on in colleges and high schools, in classrooms, but never at full-on large-scale events or assemblies, which is what I always wanted to do, but didn’t quite know how to get there. The book became my pathway.

Sandie Sedgbeer: The Badass thing is not such a bad thing after all; you get to confound people’s expectations. They look at you and see one thing. You open your mouth, and they see something else, and you’ve got their attention.

Joshua Coburn: Exactly, and that works for me. I remember when I was 19 years old with basically every visible part of me heavily tattooed, and I traveled a lot back in those days, and I would get in conversation with total strangers at an airport. I would see them looking at me like: “Hmm, is this guy going to be rude to me, is he a threat, what’s the deal”? And I would extend my hand and ask them how their day was and break those walls down. I quickly learned that my tattoos, as personal as they are to me, are also a tool to be leveraged to open the door into somebody else’s

OMTimes.com

life and their knowledge. The amount of things that I can learn from those around me is vast, and if someone’s going to let me in, I’ll take it. And the Badass label, the way I look, certainly allows that. When I’m walking into a corporate event, or especially at high schools and middle schools, those kids are used to suit and tie speakers, and what I bring to the table could not be more different.

Sandie Sedgbeer: I saw a video of you speaking to a group of school kids. The looks on those kids faced when you came on stage at the beginning of your presentation; they really didn’t know what to make of you, did they?

Joshua Coburn: No, they didn’t and don’t. I don’t treat my speaking events quite like a speaking event; I treat it almost like a rock concert. Before the event, I put loud music on, and it resonates down the hallways. Those kids hear it, and it changes the whole atmosphere. When they walk in they’re like, ‘how is this OK in our theater, or in our gym?’ They don’t know if it’s OK to stand up and scream or yell and, of course, it is. I’m there to push the limits of what maybe they think is appropriate and, of course, also to get my point across. It’s interesting to use the paradox that it is me and my life, because they form their opinions

September D 2016 Edition

before I arrive, and once I’m present, what I am to them is vastly different. Which sparks curiosity, debate, and wonder, especially because I don’t tell them how to live, I let them into my life, and even if there are 2,500 kids in a room, we communicate, and I ask them questions and they all answer. Sandie Sedgbeer: You talk to the kids about the importance of failing forward. What do you mean by that?

Joshua Coburn: Failing forward was a concept I’d read about as a kid, but never understood it until I started doing it. Often, we forget to celebrate the lessons in our failures because without those we wouldn’t have learned. We hear quotes about how our failures today are what help prepare us for tomorrow’s successes or victories. I fully believe it, and failing forward is just another way of describing that, and understanding that today may have sucked but you got something out of it that you could apply to tomorrow to grow.

Sandie Sedgbeer: You created the Relief and the Resource Centre for teens and adults to get educated on their struggles, overcome limitations, clarify purpose, and live to their true potential. You create videos on different topics. How is this being received? OMTimes.com

Joshua Coburn: The Relief and Resource Centre is getting awesome feedback. It’s a place where, if a kid is anxious or nervous about something, maybe suffering depression or having suicidal thoughts, they have somewhere to go where they can get help and answers. The topics were suggested by student and parents, and some school administrators. It offers articles, blog posts that I write with the National Suicide Hotline, and videos I make to help them feel less alone and to show them that there’s hope on the other side of this darkness; they can get through it. We created it toward the end of the last school year, and schools are using it to open up conversations about hard subjects, especially the suicide episode. It’s the longest one we have, but it’s my entire story, and it’s honest, and parents are sitting down with their kids to discuss those thoughts. The number of schools using it as reference is really starting to grow.

Sandie Sedgbeer: Tell us about the inspiration behind your “Know my Impact Campaign”.

Joshua Coburn: Essentially it is a “Pay it Forward” type of campaign, which allows you to see what kind of impact your one single good deed is having on the world. We have little

September D 2016 Edition

cards with tracking numbers that can be passed along to an individual whose life you have positively influenced, and you can track how far that goes. The reason it exists is that schools were very appreciative of the impact we made, allowing their students to see the vulnerability of the others around them and understand that despite our difference, we’re all the same. Many school Principals said they wished they had a way to measure the impact of that. So, when I go to a school, each student can have a card, and their principal can track the good deeds being done in his or her school. How cool is it, to quantify the goodness that occurs in your school or community long term? I’d never seen it done. So we did it.

Sandie Sedgbeer: Of all the things kids are accessing on your website – and you said that suicide is one of the biggest – what have you learned is bothering them the most?

Joshua Coburn: In many ways, the same things still come up. The insecurities: “I’m not good enough.” The bullying, etc. The difference is now it doesn’t begin at 8:30 AM in the morning and end in the afternoon when school’s over. Because students now have access to one another 24 hours a day, it doesn’t really end, and that’s the

OMTimes.com

problem. There’s no safe place unless you shut your phone off. You can’t even turn on the television because all the negative news that’s going on is just adding more anxiety, fear and more pressure on students and young people. So, while the issues are the same, they’re compounded way more at a much, much younger age, and it’s relentless. It doesn’t let up.

Sandie Sedgbeer: You talk to kids about the five points of empowerment. What are they?

Joshua Coburn: Vulnerability is always my number one. Failing forward. Taking chances. Facing challenges - it’s important to remember that when you’re facing challenges, other people are facing them too; pick them up along the way, because they’ll help you. Communication is the biggest thing next to vulnerability, in my opinion, and that’s simply because if you’re vulnerable, and you’re willing to communicate, everything else seems to fall in line. Because if you have a good team, if you’ve communicated, if you’ve reminded them of their value, they’ll constantly lift you up and they’ll remind you of yours.

Sandie Sedgbeer: So, what else do you want to do?

September D 2016 Edition

Joshua Coburn: For me, it’s about taking everything bigger. I look at being in schools as a major accomplishment because if we want to make the world a better place, it starts with our youth, with education, and empowerment, and confidence. And the more students I can reach, and the more growth that they can have, the better the legacy I’m going to leave. So, I want to make this bigger. Manners and Motivation Events right now are assemblies in schools. Sometimes, they’re for small schools of 150 kids, sometimes large schools of 2,500 or 5,000 kids. That’s wonderful, and I appreciate it, but bigger arenas have yet to be filled. That’s my goal.

don’t want you to drive past and have pity on me standing at the side of the road in the cold. I just want you to smile, and I want to make the world a better place. Through those simple things, I think we can do that. So, that’s really what my goals are; to simply make things better and make a bigger impact.

Sandie Sedgbeer: And what do you need to fulfill that goal?

Joshua Coburn: That’s a great question. What do I need to fulfill that goal? Reach – the more people I can help and network with; the more people I can help grow and fulfill their destinies; they’ll help me fulfill mine. That’s what it comes down to. Continuing to help, continuing to do what I do; hitting the streets. I mentioned earlier the “Smiles in your City”; that’s a simple thing where I travel the different cities all over the United States, holding a massive sign that just says “Smile”. I don’t want your money; I

OMTimes.com

Sandie Sedgbeer: And, of course, people can buy your book: “Inspiration on Demand” from Amazon. I must tell you, Joshua, before we leave, my favorite quote is: “Only an open heart can be wounded, and we all must remember that the risk is worth its weight in love.” That’s a beautiful one.

Innovative new approaches to Healing as well as holistic methods for dealing with health issues and personal growth

Breath is a Requisite for Life & Healing “It’s like breathing,” we say, to illustrate the ease of a particular task or the acquisition of a new skill that isn’t really difficult. From our initial entry into life, breathing is automatic, something we

Omtimes.com

don’t prepare for or think about until we face a health crisis later in life or develop a respiratory condition that requires monitoring and medicating. We know that breath is requisite for life, but the benefits of conscious breathing transcend the physical to include multidimensional healing and spiritual awakening. The Sanskrit word prana encompasses more than just the breath. It is the cosmic life force synonymous with “chi,” the energy that permeates all beings. This force enters the body through the breath and circulates, vivifying every cell. In guided meditation, we often begin with deep breaths, the intake of prana, holding it and letting it circulate throughout the body; awakening us, before we release old energy slowly.

Various Definitions of Breath Have Similarities In its definition of prana, The Oxford English Dictionary specifies that it “flows in currents in and around the body.” Such slow and focused

breathing brings us to a new awareness as the breath hits each chakra or energy center. Deep, conscious breathing in this manner raises our vibration, elevating us both physically and spiritually. This breath helps to eliminate blockages and remove obstacles to healing. The more the breath circulates, the clearer our channels, and the more receptive we become to higher energies. We in essence mimic the ebb and flow of the universe. Through the breath, we learn to “be” rather than think. Our thoughts become secondary to our partnership with the cosmos when we surrender to the universal breath. Through that surrender, we operate more fully on a soul level.

Breath and Its Spiritual Connections The clear connection between breath and spirit can be seen in Genesis 2:7, after God creates the physical body of the first man Adam (which in Hebrew means “earth”): “Then the LORD God formed man of the dust of the

Omtimes.com

ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” The word “soul” is used in the Hebrew scriptures and encompasses more than mere “living being” translated in other modern versions, overlooking if not discarding the irrevocable human-divine connection. It is the breath that began that connection, and the breath that sustains that connection.

Oxygenation: The Science of Breathing Science recognizes breathing as a curative method for multiple ailments, primarily through the proven technique of Biofeedback, which includes various methods of monitoring and controlling the body’s processes. Controlling breathing, which calms the body and mind, is used to alleviate the effects of asthma, migraines, anxiety, bowel disorders, high blood pressure, chemotherapy effects, and many more ailments. The underlying principle of Biofeedback is that we can

Omtimes.com

control our own processes and reduce both pain and the need for medication through natural means. The process allows us to see the immediate results of our body/mind connection. For example, when we are stressed or fearful, our body temperature drops. By focusing on slow, deep breathing and nothing else, within a few minutes our body temperature rises, reflecting the change in our psychological or emotional state. These changes are measured through electronic devices and external thermometers one wears during the process.

The Use of Breath in Biofeedback Women who give birth through the Lamaze method (a series of breathing patterns developed by Dr. Ferdinand Lamaze) know this well. While nothing can eliminate the pain of childbirth short of an epidural or general anesthesia, the breathing techniques taught by Lamaze educators

intend to relax the muscles and ease energy flow to reduce labor pain. These are the same techniques that we use as preludes to meditation. Those techniques include square breathing: breathe in for four counts, hold for four counts, release for four counts. Sounds often accompany Lamaze breathing, not unlike the sounds one utters during a Kundalini meditation class. The combination of breath and chant transports us from the physical, where we store pain, to the spiritual, where we release it.

A Basic Breathing Meditation for Beginners Here’s a very basic breathing meditation, perfect for beginners who want to learn to use breath as a vehicle to higher planes or simply to help alleviate physical discomfort: Take a deep breath through your nose, counting to four. Hold it for four counts. Feel the breath circulate throughout your body. Release slowly through your mouth to

the count of eight. When you inhale, place your hand on your belly as it expands like a balloon. Don’t breathe up into your shoulders, which creates tension. Repeat. Inhale for four counts, hold for four, and release for eight. Repeat four or five times, relaxing with each round. Exercising this way a few times a day will ease you any situations that trigger anxiety and fear. Moreover, it will also open your intuitive channels, securing your partnership with the cosmos. The Healing Key: Breathing Through the Crisis by Anne Mari Ramsdal

We hear a lot of talk about healing these days. In the last couple of years, the term has become both more recognized and popular, which itself means great news for the collective consciousness. Humanity is increasingly interested in achieving new heights and becoming better versions of Self. Happiness, self-realization and inner peace is something we finally

Omtimes.com

understand that we deserve! This is positively something to be excited about. But do we fully understand the concept of healing? What are some effective ways to deal with a crisis or sickness in our lives?

What is the purpose of light in healing? Healing is light entering darkness. It can be anything that helps us release old fears, feelings of lack and downputting thoughts. Healing is any input, in any shape or form, that helps us realize that no one is more important than ourselves, and that we deserve to be happy and loved. This input of light can come from a beloved, a therapist, a piece of music, a grand experience in nature. And, this light of healing can come from an energy healer.

What is the role of the energy healer? An energy healer can be thought of as the light bulb that will shine up a room when ignited. The recipient of healing, someone who is sick or in crisis, is responsible

for turning the light switch on. Problems occur when we leave all the responsibility in the hands of the healer. Oftentimes, people think that a quick visit to a healer will solve all of their issues. The truth is, healing will indeed open up for that possibility. But the healer’s role is to ignite a spark in the client. The client themselves must feed it to make a flame.

What is the role of the recipient? An important aspect we should all be aware of, is the concept often called “the healing sickness. This means that healing, especially during a crisis situation, can and will brings a lot of old stuff to the surface. In reality, it can almost feel like we are getting worse after a session. If and when this happens, it is crucial to understand that it is nothing but a huge energy cleanse. Know that by working against it, we can work against the healing itself. The key to surviving the healing sickness is to simply

Omtimes.com

acknowledge everything that comes up. Pushing down, ignoring, or repressing our feelings in the first place may be the very reason or cause of imbalance. The saying “out of sight, out of mind” is unfortunately not applicable in these crisis situations. We may not think about it consciously, but it will most assuredly come through in negative thought patterns and bodily ailments. There are ways to make the healing process shorter and more bearable.

3 ways to deal with energy sickness or crisis: 1. Stay in the feeling when it occurs, taking deep breaths. Watch it dissolve and go through your body, back to the earth beneath your feet. Ask your system to release any related physical ailments with it. 2. Afterwards, visualize a light coming through your head, moving through your body. Breathe in with the light. Let it cleanse your system and revitalize your energy. Be

Omtimes.com

grateful as you inhale and exhale calmly. 3. Write down or record all rough feelings you might experience. This helps bring them into the light. Remember, your dreams are your unconsciousness talking to you, so keeping a dream journal can be helpful as well. Have faith that these occurrences are all part of the healing process. This is just making oxygen for the spark to ignite. And remember; you can’t start a fire without a spark! Focusing on the Present Moment by Arthur Telling

Focusing Now on the Present We generally don’t think about our focus of attention and its continually changing progression throughout the day. Focus is most identified with just eyesight, yet it encompasses the five physical senses, sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. Relaxing at a coffee shop, my mind may wander from the coffee cup on my table to the smell of the coffee, then to the background music. And I may begin daydreaming, escaping to another place and time,

Omtimes.com

forgetting for a moment where I am. It is useful that we learn to ascertain how our attention focuses and shifts, so that we can use it for progressing spiritually. Utilizing focus, we naturally and seamlessly broaden or narrow awareness of the physical senses. We shut out unwanted information, while heightening what interests us. As we listen to the birds chirping in the trees, we may not hear the sound of the wind. Or, alternatively, hear the menacing wind but not the gentle sounds of birds. We may become unaware of the noise and activity of children playing nearby as we focus on reading a captivating story.

Using Focus Wisely, and Guiding It And we can break through present-moment constraints, utilizing the warehouse of our stored knowledge. Imagine walking through ancient Rome, or piloting a spaceship in the distant future, entirely forgetting the physical world in front of us. Most important is that we become aware of our present focus and develop

a conscious intent toward understanding and guiding it. For developing a present moment awareness, we should become attentive to this everchanging focus. Meditation and contemplation exercises typically do this, eliminating frivolous thoughts and training the mind to be steady. But forgetting the moment and allowing our attentions to wander is frivolous thought and a symptom of an undisciplined mind. If we think ahead to the cup on our table at the café and take care to follow our focus as it changes from one object or event to another, we will be living in the present moment where thought and activity are congruent. This is the crux of present moment awareness, the merging of thought and activity. It remains true, even when we change our focus to the imagined, if we are cognizant that we are doing it.

The ‘Direct Experience’ of the Present Moment Focus is in play when transitioning between waking and sleeping states. In the book “Seth Speaks” dictated Omtimes.com

by Jane Roberts in trance state, the elevated entity Seth speaks from another dimension. Seth tells of how we pass into sleep entering progressively deeper states, our body becoming less and less physical. At the deepest state we become devoid of form, communication happening through “direct experience” absent of symbols and images. We awaken back to physical form through a reverse process. Seth tells of “signposts” that appear when we are about to fall into a deeper state, in the form of recognizable dreams. Jane will dream where she is at a strange house and begins exploring the new surroundings. This same dream happens when she is about to leave her body to a deeper phase of sleep.

Focusing on How Alert We Are to Signposts Thus, her dream is not exactly the same dream each time, for the house will be different. But the signpost dream recurrence is recognizable and repetitious,

Omtimes.com

and different for each person. Seth tells us to be alert for our own personal dreaming signpost when we lay down to sleep. With practice, we may learn to identify and enter these states with mental cognizance as our “sleeping” focus changes. Our learning to focus while in the waking state thus disciplines the mind. It is our vehicle for exploring this world and ultimately a conscious discovering of dream state realities. And the time to begin is now. About the Author Arthur Telling has written numerous stories and articles on religion, philosophy and metaphysics. His article, “A Different Jesus Message” appeared in the Nov. 2011 AMORC Rosicrucian Digest. Telling is author of “Johann’s Awakening” (a parody of Jonathan Livingston Seagull), and three novels including “Kaitlin’s Message,” exploring the secret sayings of the Gospel of Thomas. Looking for Love in all the wrong places?

Note to Self: Believe in Yourself by John Holland

Do You Believe in You? Take note of the many things we do, say, and think that stop us from being powerful and all that we can be. Often, we think and talk ourselves into failing without even trying. This is a common form of disempowering, negative thinking. For example, how many times have you gone

Omtimes.com

for an interview, saying to yourself, “I haven’t got a hope in hell of getting this job!” --Or believing you’ll fail a test before you’ve even taken it! Now, don’t go beating yourself up, we’ve all done it at some point in our lives. You already know about the law of attraction that I’ve written about often in previous articles; namely, “Life follows thought.” I want you to stop for a moment and just ask yourself this question next time a major decision is in front of you: Are you creating an adverse outcome as a result of your fears and past conditioning? Ultimately, it is down to how much you truly believe in yourself and your self-worth. It is important to see yourself as a winner.

A Lesson About Following Your Passion Here’s a quick, inspiring story. Leela was a student of

mine in Los Angeles some years ago, and during one of my workshops, she told her fellow classmates how her fear of failure was crippling her life. She’d volunteered her time over the past four years at a local cable station, not only to educate herself, but with the hope of becoming a TV director. She loved being on the set, working with the camera crews and production staff, helping to build and break down the sets, and learning all she could about directing. When Leela talked about her job at the station, you could hear the passion in her words and her soul would just light up. She devoted much of her free time to the cable station but had no regrets. She was happy doing what she loved and being around creative people. Toward the end of her fourth year, she felt she was ready to take on a job as

Omtimes.com

an assistant producer. There was a position advertised at a local television studio. She applied for the job and submitted her showreel featuring some of the projects that she’d worked on.

Take Note of the Negative Chatter A few days later, she received a call saying how impressed they were with her work and invited her for an interview. They offered her the job! Elated, Leela prepared to start work the very next week. Her elation was short-lived, as her mind and ego started the negative mind chatter in an attempt to talk her out of it. She wasn’t listening to reason or her intuition, but her destructive ego was getting the better of her. It was like her mind was running wild, chattering and jumping from thought to thought, spiraling out of control and leaving her feeling dazed and confused.

She started to convince herself that she would never be able to do the job or live up to their expectations. It was as though she was living in a state of ‘fear of failing.’ She’d never given herself the chance to explore and excel in her creative potential.

Make Note to Believe Positively Unfortunately, people who settle for less usually get it. Sadly, in this case, Leela’s negative conditioning got the better of her. She took a job that was safe, but one that didn’t feed her passion! I heard from her recently, saying that she’s slowly making her way back to her more creative soul-self by working on her past negative programming and identifying where the conditioning occurred in her life. She’d been re-programming her mind with positive thoughts and visualizations, and told me that she was about to apply for another

television job. I did everything in my power to give her some positive affirmations and some tools. She admitted that, from time to time, the negative thoughts still surface. But now she has developed the skills to prevent them from holding her hostage.

JOHN’S LESSON Here are seven steps to help you break free of the “I’m Going to Fail” syndrome: -Work on letting go of your past beliefs, fears, and hang-ups. Start having active conversations with yourself. -Start believing why you can, as opposed to why you can’t. -Stay focused on your goals and aspirations, and live a life of positive belief. -Write all your experiences in your journal. Get them out of your head! -Think of yourself as a winner, rather than a

loser. Once you believe in yourself, you’ll be surprised at how others start believing in you more. Remember this statement; “We train others how to treat us by the way we treat ourselves.” -Believe in success. When you start believing that you can succeed, it’s surprising how your mind starts to figure out solutions for success. You won’t even contemplate failure. -Visualize and feel yourself in a favorable outcome and living a life that you know you’ll love. All you can do really is give every opportunity your best shot! Zen: Finding the Way to Harmony & Balance by Daniel Mitel

Finding Harmony Through Zen We all love Zen. Zen is unique, as it says that our bodies are holy and our earth is a paradise. No need to look for something outside of us and no need to look for a promised paradise that is not here, on the Earth. It is ordinary, it is simple. All that we need in order to practice Zen is to live

Omtimes.com

now, to enjoy every moment and be spontaneous. Zen is easy; the people who are in harmony with themselves and with the outside world, are Zen Masters! It is a paradox; but people obsessed with spirituality can lose their harmony easily. There is a famous story about a man’s obsession with money. This man would think all the day about money; his dreams were just about money; how to make money, how to make more money, then how to safeguard his money and so on. Being an exceptional intelligent man, he easily found a way to actually make money. He became rich and in one day he found his way to a monastery and had a chat with a monk. He became very unhappy when he realized that money and richness are useless. Therefore, he renounced the worldly things to start a monastic life, living under religious vows. He gave up all his possessions and went to a monastery; now he was so against money that

if somebody would drop a coin on the floor by mistake he would immediately close his eyes. So, after years of obsession for money, now he was so against it that he would not even touch it or see it. This is the reason so many people love Zen. It teaches us not to judge. If we say, “This is good” or “This is bad,” we lose the harmony of the moment; we lose the harmony of now. Looking at the facts, at what it is, becomes one of the most difficult things to do. The mind is so involved in everything, that anything we do has a label on it: either “for” or “against.” Years ago, many people were upset when Osho published his book “From Sex to SuperConsciousness.” They asked Osho to change the title of the book. The very word “sex” combined with “superconsciousness” in the title of the book disturbed them. The funny thing is that some of them did not even read the book. Their mind already gave

Omtimes.com

an interpretation to a simple word without seeing the whole picture. What is interesting is that when we are against something, we cannot face it, we cannot even understand it. We close the door and it has become an enemy. Unbalanced, we lose the harmony. When we are against or for something, it is not “we.” It is somebody else. We get everything handed to us. No thought is original! We borrow every idea that we have about something or somebody. Our education, our religion, our culture, all our teachers and friends, our parents and all the books we are reading, all is given to us by the society. We are not able to see something without judging it. The function of the mind is to divide. It goes on and on, analyzing, cutting, fragmenting, and dividing everything. So, we need a completely reversed process to be in harmony. We need a process that brings the

Omtimes.com

things together, not one that divides them. If we understand that there are no divisions, and the whole is whole, then there is no judgment. If we understand that what we see and know contains also the unseen and the divine, then truly know Zen. Finally, we are in harmony. 3 Qi

Gong Techniques for More Energy by Rebecca Clio Gould

Qi Gong Techniques for Energy How many times have you woken up feeling groggy or felt an afternoon slump or just didn’t feel like you had enough energy to go out and do something fun after work?

Omtimes.com

Believe me, you’re not alone. We all have those times, and we all want more energy. And often, we turn to food or coffee or other stimulants to perk us up. But this can just result in a crash later on, so it’s not a sustainable energy boost. While it’s true that food can be a good source of fuel, depending on what you choose to eat, there’s another source of fuel that you can access anytime, anywhere, without even ingesting anything: qi. And qi gong is the way to get it. Qi gong is an ancient system of energy cultivation, meditative movement, and self-healing. And the first time I received an invitation to try it, back in 2006, I really wasn’t sure what it was. I was studying Shiatsu and Chinese Medicine’s Five Element Theory, and taking a Tai Ji class at the time, so I knew it had something to do with qi (vital life-force energy), but that was all I knew. I remembered reading about it a little, but I had never done it. But once I

started? I was hooked. And I’ve been practicing and teaching it ever since. There are many systems of qigong and many forms you could practice, but below are three simple techniques for beginners to get started. For optimal results, do at least one of these at least once a day.

1. Shake it up In addition to being part of a qi gong practice, this is also known as bio-energetic shaking and can be a practice in and of itself. Here’s what you do: Stand with your feet hip distance apart or a little wider. Let your knees be soft, not locked straight. Bounce up and down, with feet planted flat on the ground. Shaking up and down like this helps get the qi flowing. While shaking, you may notice areas of stiffness. Just notice them. No judgment. Shake as gently or vigorously as you like. Start with just shaking for a minute and work up to a few minutes or more.

Omtimes.com

After shaking, stand still for a moment, take a deep breath, and notice what you feel.

2. Gather qi Gathering qi can be found in various systems of qi gong. The basic instructions are as follows: Standing up straight, feet flat on the floor, allow your arms to hang down at your sides. Turn your palms upward and spread your fingers apart. Stretch your arms out to the sides as you take a long and deep inhale. Keep your chin slightly lifted. While inhaling, continue moving the arms upward and gradually arc your arms inward until your hands are above your head, palms facing down toward the top of the head. Middle finger tips point toward each other but not touch. While exhaling, bring hands closer to each other (still not touching) as they continue to move down, palms facing down, in front of the body. As your hands come down toward your lower belly, part them to the sides and turn your palms to face up as

Omtimes.com

your hands continue to move upward again. Repeat several times, and then simply relax for a few moments. Sit down or just stand still, and just allow the qi to circulate, noticing how you feel.

3. Qi flow visualization This one you can do lying down! It’s a non-moving form of qi gong, in which you feel or just imagine the energy flowing through you. Although this can also be very relaxing and help with sleep, it can also give you more energy. It’s like a power nap without sleeping-unless you do fall asleep! So set an alarm just in case. First, lie down if possible. The preparation for this practice is to take a few deep breaths and then scan your body from head to toe, progressively relaxing your body, letting go of any areas of tension. After some full body relaxation, focus on the centers of the soles of your feet. Picture a little window or door opening in them.

Picture qi, in the form of light, coming in through your feet and traveling up your legs into your lower belly, into the dantian. The dantian is a storehouse of qi located below and behind the navel. Picture the dantian as a ball of light, about the size of a tennis ball. Continue visualizing this qi traveling in through your feet to the dantian as you bring your attention to the centers of the palms of your hands. Open the energy gateways in your palms, just by picturing a little door or window open, and see qi traveling in through your palms, up your arms, down through your heart, and into the dantian. As the qi continues traveling in through your feet and your palms, bring your attention to the crown of your head. Feel or imagine the crown of your head opening, bringing in more qi, and see that qi travel down through your head and your neck, passing through your heart, and entering the dantian. Continue softening and relaxing your body as you feel

or visualize this energy flowing through you. Over time, the more you soften and relax, you will start to truly feel the qi. You can also incorporate the opening of these energy gateways (crown of the head, centers of the palms of hands, and centers of soles of feet) when gathering qi. Open Up to a New World by Eva Sieber

Waking Up to a New World I recently heard Matt Kahn say that during our awakening, we wake up out of everything but love. But we are not always comfortable with letting go of something we believed in for a long time. We might have invested so much into a belief, maybe during many

Omtimes.com

lifetimes, that when we are asked to no longer see it as valid, we might feel threatened to our very core. This new world can make us feel like we are losing the map we always used and we have no clue where we are going from there and who we are without those guidelines.

Letting Go of Old Spiritual Beliefs Even some spiritual beliefs we have carried with us might no longer serve us in this new world. Maybe we don’t need to meditate for hours to allow a shift, maybe we don’t have to be single or in a group to grow spiritually, or maybe we don’t need to accumulate wisdom and knowledge anymore, and maybe we don’t have to do this the hard way. Whatever has served us as a guideline or tool might not be necessary anymore in these unprecedented times. Many are now also reminded of old missions; maybe the one they once took on when they first came to Earth. Also, these old

missions have had their place in the past and are no longer needed in the form they have been. Everything changes in the new world, and our old missions might continue in a new way and new color.

Old Roles Are Being Released Our deepest longing for a beautiful, light-filled new world is coming to be, and our old roles are being released. There is no need for the roles we once played, the placeholders we were, the vows we once took and the sacrifices we agreed upon. Now we shed our old skin, and with it all the facts and figures that have shaped us in past times. Now we become naked and renewed, whole and light, like never before. The old tools we don’t need anymore. Now we step upon new ground. What we have invested in previous times has been appropriate; it has been as perfect as it is now to release the old paradigms. Now we stop and listen. We are free to be uplifted into new dimensions.

Omtimes.com

Allow Changes upon Changes, as We Uplift Wherever we go in this new world, we take with us what we have learned and we can allow changes upon changes boldly and know, that the essence of who we are is shining more clearly with every step we take. No experience is wasted, but we don’t need to repeat any of the old ones again. Now we are free to choose love over everything else and find ourselves in new and wonderful places. We might not only choose a little bit more love, but this time we choose love 100 percent. Are we ready to step into a new world and leave the old fears behind us? Are we ready for a new way of being? Sometimes we need a push or a helping hand, to go further into something new. Many are feeling challenged on many levels right now and are confused about the course of their lives. The push and the helping hand that we need right now, is what carries us to a new shore. When we trust, the shifts can happen quicker

Omtimes.com

and easier for us. All resistance makes it more challenging.

Being Bold Sometimes is Being Grateful Whenever we are able to find this place of gratitude, we can sit in it and expand with it to enjoy its sweetness. It will certainly make our journey more beautiful and take away the harshness we sometimes experience. Being bold at times means being grateful. It assumes that everything we need is already here and everything that has to be done is already done. We can thus allow ourselves to relax and know that everything is fine. 5 Healthy Places to Meditate by Elaina Meiser

Is There a Way to Meditate Anywhere? People who meditate often look for places that they perceive as healthy. A person may approach the act of meditation from different angles, finding places that

Omtimes.com

will allow them to enter that meditation space. Different people can be at different stages of their efforts to meditate. Discovering areas that can aid us in getting better results from our efforts can be necessary step in the meditation process.

1. Meditation Retreats Some people will want to make a concentrated effort to meditate in a place customized for this process. They can look for areas that offer meditation retreats. These can be opportunities for them to get new experiences and advice in their meditation efforts People can review various locations online or ask for recommendations from their social network. The businesses that provide these meditation retreats can be found around the world; we can find retreats close to home or even in another country.

These retreats can allow the person to get more expert guidance from meditation practitioners and show them various techniques that they can then apply to their daily life routine. The retreat can be part of a vacation from their daily life. Retreats will usually be based in a quieter more natural area. They can also offer other amenities that can aid in meditation. These can include having organic food menus or offering physical therapy supplementation in addition to meditational courses. Specific goals of the person seeking meditation practice can determine the appropriate location for them self. The combination of having guided sessions, healthful cuisines, and a peaceful environment can make people feel more refreshed and able to focus on the meditational efforts.

2. Dedicate Space in Your Home to Meditate People can make their home a healthy place to meditate. This can be accomplished by setting up a specific area of the home devoted to this. By creating a space for their meditation the person can further concentrate their efforts. A person can make a meditational space inside or outside their home. Based upon their living arrangements they can decide the appropriate area selection. Finding a place that can offer a relatively quiet environment can be an initial step. They can search for an area that makes them feel comfortable and design elements to make it more appropriate for meditation. If inside a home, having a clean and uncluttered location with natural light can be a way to aid their meditation. They can add natural elements to the space via plants or water features. Adequate airflow

Omtimes.com

and a serene paint scheme could also be beneficial. The person can ensure that various electronic devices have been removed and are not available during their sessions. This can help them in focusing their mind without distractions.

3. Let The Group’s Energy Carry You Some people can seek to meditate with others based upon their preferences. These informal groups can be discovered and networked via the internet or other communication channels. Having a group to meditate with can also allow them to share the cost of visiting various locations together. People at various levels of their meditational efforts can receive advice and feedback from other members. Some members might have more complete designed meditational areas of their home and can share this with their group. Finding people who are like-minded

can aid some people in their meditational routine.

4. Meditate Outdoors Certain people can feel more comfortable meditating in natural environments. Therefore, these areas can include camping areas, parks, or beaches that they can visit. This can be a chance to meditate in places that have less modern elements. Trying out nature locations that are near to where they live, work or visit can be a way to both get physical exercise and then meditate. They could look for areas that allow them to focus on their mediation. This can mean making sure things like insects or other natural elements that can cause distractions are less prevalent. Thus, discovering places that are more conducive to meditation can be part of their exploration process.

5. Find a Meditation Center Near You Those who want more

guidance in meditations can look for meditation centers. Depending on where you live, you may find a location nearby. Different than a retreat this could be more a part of the daily, weekly, or monthly routine. This can allow them to have a place to repeatedly visit that has people considered to be professional in certain meditation techniques. In conclusion, by learning different types of meditation or psychology methods the person can find what works better for them self. The space provided can more developed to ensure a serene environment in which to meditate. About the Author Elaina Meiser is a passionate writer and contributor. Integrating the Dark Side of Life by Andrea Mathews

Oneness, and the Duality Paradox Our earliest and most archetypal thinking regarding the nature of humanity combined suffering with evil so profoundly that we still

Omtimes.com

believe on a deep unconscious level that they belong together. From a dualistic perspective, what this means is that we often still hold this archetypal belief. We feel that we suffer because: a) we are not one with an external divine entity, and, therefore, cannot depend on this divine source to help us when we most need it; and b) we suffer because we are evil. While modern-day thinking, particularly among the more progressive philosophies, would not agree, modernday feeling often still does agree. We ask ourselves why we are so worried about the potential outcome of a given strategy. When we really answer honestly, we often find floating around in the back rooms of the psyche is this fear that we deserve for bad things to happen. Not only that, but feel we deserve them to occur because somehow we have not pleased an external and distant divine.

Duality is Actually Oneness From this dualistic mindset, we have divided all of life into externals and internals, good and evil, light and dark, divine and human. We do not seem to recognize the concept that each of these dualities is actually one with its opposite polarity. So, when we experience the dark side of life, we scramble to turn on the lights. When we get sick, we attempt to heal by sending away or conquering the illness, rather than healing by getting really close to the illness to ask it for its gift. When we fear or experience financial loss we get busy trying to fix it, or get busy worrying over it, rather than sitting very closely with our internal machinations about this seemingly external possibility or reality, and listening for its divine message. Oneness means that there

Omtimes.com

is nothing that is only external. Unfortunately, many have interpreted that statement to mean that when so-called “negative” things happen outside of us in our lives, it’s because something inside of us attracted it. But actually, oneness means that there is no such thing as “outside of us,” for outside is inside and inside is outside. There is not any possibility that we can attract something, because we are already one with everything. And what is everything but divine energy? Oneness means that all, everything, every aspect of darkness, every aspect of light is divine. What this means is that there is no such thing as “negative” and no such thing as “positive.” Everything is simply divine. Even the dualistic mindset is a part of oneness.

Omtimes.com

Healing in the Dark Nights So, when we stumble into a dark night of the soul and find that all that we once relied upon has now become questionable, what we may know is that this too is divine. What many report upon coming out on the other side of a dark night, is that their image of the divine and of themselves has changed dramatically. Now they see self and divine as one. In the dark night, in the times of suffering, because the lights are out we must learn to see through the Braille of the spirit. We go down under the emotional realm to find out what it is that we’ve been telling ourselves. We seek the platforms we have been living from, and what performances we have been playing out. Things just get a whole lot more real in the dark. And the process of unfolding that

occurs in the dark just does not occur in the light, simply because our focus is different.

Seeing in the Dark without Hiding When the lights are on, because we believe that external and internal are different spaces. We tend to create images rather than authenticities. We imagine to ourselves that no one, not even ourselves, can see what hides in the dark, while we light up an image for others to see. But not only do others see our shadows, but we secretly know the truth as well, and it makes us feel ashamed. It makes us feel ashamed because we believe that our hiding is necessary, that this hiding is the only way we can be good people. This is much of our suffering in and of itself, this hiding. Oneness, on the other hand, knows no need for hiding.

It knows that the lights are on even in the dark, and the dark is on even in the light. Oneness knows that whatever label we give our suffering, it is but another form of divine energy come to gift us in some way. Therefore, we have a choice. When we arrive on the dark side we can continue to scramble to turn on the lights. Or, we can sit in the silence of the darkness, and allow it to give us its beautiful gifts.

Numerology Speaks: What Do Hillary and Donald Have in Common? by Greer Jonas

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton describe their vision for America.

Numerological Looks into the Two Major Candidates The candidates take front stage like a reality TV show. As the characters reveal their positions on camera and the media is having a field day, I thought I would examine their psyche through the esoteric science of numerology. As a numerologist, I was a bit surprised to discover that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have similar numerical charts. Neither are afraid to be out there in the public eye. In essence, it is all about the ego. How they deal with their aspirations is unique to them. Omtimes.com

In numerology, looking at someone’s chart is like looking at a blank canvas. Two people who are born on the same day will have the same astrological sign and the same numerological destiny, yet the way they perceive the world and respond to others are different.

Insight into Their Lives and Objectives Let’s take a look at how Hillary and Donald’s inspiration, life purpose and shadow numbers weave the web in how they

approach their lives and their objectives toward the presidency. The Destiny, or Life Purpose - (based on the birthday) is our journey in life, how we move through our world. The Inspiration or catalyst number (based on the sum of the month and day of your birthday) is what inspires you on your life’s journey, what makes you thrive. The Shadow is the lesson and challenge you may encounter.

Shadow: The shadow of the 3 and the 9 has two sides, either being insecure about your voice, or trying to shine larger than others in order to be the authority. Discovering what is authentic and true in her vision and aspirations is key and what will help Hillary thrive. With a 9 inspiration number, If you are not living in integrity, then you are in the shadow of your life’s purpose. It seems as if this is the trigger to how some people see Hillary. Do we trust her? Is she living in integrity?

The Scenic Route Your Soul Seeks

They call me the Motorcycle Mystic because I am an intuitive counselor and I love to ride my Harley—an unusual combination, I know. But for me, riding a motorcycle is a personal symbol of spiritual fitness and living free and a way to stay fully present in the moment. My husband, Marc, and I take the back roads—the scenic routes—and enjoy the view and the ride. Sometimes we stick with the more familiar and boring route because it’s faster and we have a lot we want to do, but we recognize that even if you are feeling pressed for time and you take a “wrong” turn onto the “wrong” road, it’s all good. You’re just on the “scenic route.” There’s always something to discover, always something of beauty. The best thing to do when you find yourself here is take a deep breath, keep your eyes open, and stay in the present instead of worrying about what might happen in the future if you don’t get back on track right away. Your intuition will guide you to what to do next.

Riding a motorcycle requires you to be completely in a zone of present time awareness. Motorcycling is a dangerous sport, and you need to be calmly alert and aware of everything around you at all times. It’s an amazing feeling to be so present minded. Whenever you take an unexpected detour and find yourself on the scenic route in your own life, you can get frustrated and give yourself a face-palm, or you can stay fully present while you tune in to what this road has to offer and what your options are. Sometimes the unexpected journey turns out to be even more delightful than the original route would have been. Taking the scenic route isn’t always efficient—but where do you want to go, anyway? Seriously, maybe you were on the wrong road! Many of us get stuck thinking we have to do this or that in order to be happy. But the soul yearns for experiences. Maybe those particular experiences can’t be found if you are rushing through life, taking the roads clearly marked on the map that is familiar to you.

If you are feeling stuck, think about this: What if you were to make choices from the truest part of you and choose a path that takes you to uncharted places? What would your life be like then? Would the back roads be unwanted and uncomfortable detours, or would they be magical, uncharted places of discovery? When you find the courage to listen to your intuition, step off the familiar path, and explore the unknown, you will be following the calling of your soul. That’s what you are here for. You will get to where you were supposed to go—which you decided upon long before you came into this life. Your destination is not a place but an experience, and there are many ways to have that experience. Over the course of a lifetime, you may find yourself feeling lost again and again, but your soul is always right there next to you, waiting for you to wake up and pay attention to what it has to tell you. Trust it!

When you co-create with Spirit wholeheartedly, mindfully, and respectfully—in community with others— you are doing what you came here to do. Who knows who you will meet on the back roads? Who knows what you will discover? It may be an opportunity to grow, to help someone heal, or to inspire someone who is feeling hopeless and weighed down with despair. You might happen an unexpected amusement that you would never have encountered otherwise, or an experience that makes you laugh from deep within your being. Maybe, just maybe, when you are on that scenic route you will be struck with awe by the sight of a great blue heron taking off toward the clouds, or a red-tailed fox that lingers long enough for you to gaze into its eyes and feel at one with its spirit. Magic can happen when you’re not hurrying toward some destination you think is the place to be, right now, regardless of what’s currently in front of you or around you. Connect with Spirit, open to what you and Spirit might cocreate together, and you will

be on the right road even if it seems you are taking the long way and wasting time. Why not take the scenic route rather than the highway? Why the hurry? Get rid of the mentality that you are going “to” some specific place on the map— trying to create some specific situation that will allow you to be happy ever after. Life will always change, and you will always be in motion. Happiness comes and goes, and rise up within you at any moment if you simply utter the magic words “thank you.” Gratitude, awe, and joy are yours when you take that pause to feel the beauty all around you. So the scenic route is a back road—not the most direct, fastest way to what you think you want to experience. Guess what? You can experience joy, abundance—whatever you seek—on whatever road you are on. And your soul may want something more than what your conscious mind is seeking. Your soul craves the experience of opening your

heart and your eyes in compassion. You may have to take a back road for that opening to happen. Face it: You probably don’t have “develop a deeper understanding of people who frustrate me” and “experience the bittersweetness of life” on the list of goals your ego or small self wants to accomplish. Your soul takes winding paths to get the experiences it wants to have. It is working with Spirit to co-create a reality your small self might appreciate until it awakens out of its spiritual amnesia and remembers your soul’s purpose: to be present, alive, and joyful as you cocreate a better reality for yourself, and for those around you. So when you suddenly find yourself on the scenic route, don’t get upset. Observe what is around you, and how you feel in this place you arrived at unexpectedly. Be present, and you might realize you are exactly where you need to be right now to have the experiences that will satisfy the longings of your deepest self— your soul, whose idea of where you are going and how you

ought to get there is a marvelous mystery for you to discover.

The Fun and Joy in Taking 100% Responsibility for Our Lives by Crystal Presence

Omtimes.com

The joy and fun of taking full, 100% responsibility for our lives is one of the most exciting lessons we can learn in life. What often holds us back is the question, “How can I develop the self-confidence, passion, motivation and discipline for taking that much responsibility for my life?

Taking responsibility for our lives can be challenging at times. We like the idea of being in the driver’s seat yet often find ourselves landing in troubling situations without a map. We shame ourselves for getting off track and ask ourselves, “Where did I go wrong?” Think about it. Hearing the words “taking responsibility” often triggers the beliefs that responsibility is: • Laborious • Overwhelming • Filled with struggle and sacrifice • The demise of fun and freedom • What makes us sick and tired • A sure way to be blamed when things go wrong • A reason to judge and punish ourselves if we make mistakes

No wonder the expression “taking full responsibility” often seems so dark and heavy!

The good news about taking 100% responsibility is: As soon as we make the decision to be 100% responsible for our lives, the universe reveals the solutions to all these beliefs and questions. We begin to understand how taking full responsibility is the key to creating the freedom we want. Responsibility brings clarity and knowing that we can be: • Guided and supported in creating the lives we want. • Part of the resolution rather of part of the problem. • Free of being a victim. • A catalyst for the changes we want to see in the world. A fun metaphor to remember how taking full responsibility makes our lives much easier.

“Taking full responsibility for our lives is similar to surfing the waves, being present and enjoying the ride to shore. Lack of responsibility is trying to stay on the board, not being present and tumbling to shore with sand up your nose.” Every challenge we face can be an opportunity to take 100% responsibility for our lives. An opportunity to stop holding back and allow the resolutions to reveal themselves in all the wonderful ways they do. We can embrace the victim inside, restoring it to the perfect internal guidance system it is designed to be. We learn to guide and co-create our lives with the loving source that is part of us.

When Does the Fun and Joy Happen? The following are a few of the ways that taking full responsibility brings joy, love and fun into our lives by: • Being responsible “to” others rather than

responsible ‘for” others. • Taking action on what we feel passionate, inspired and motivated about. • Freedom from trying to control and manipulate. • Allowing ourselves to experience the powerful person we are. Now think about this. The word responsibility originates from the words “response” and “ability”, therefore the ability to respond. We are born with the natural ability to respond to what we see, hear, feel, taste and touch. In any situation we can choose to respond by being reactive, angry, shaming, blaming etc. We also have the freedom to respond to the situation in any of these other following ways by: • Listening to our inner guidance before taking action. • Conjuring up positive ways

to think, feel and talk about the situation. • Remembering there is always a solution to every problem. As with any skill, our ability to respond takes focus, time and practice. It is well worth the time and energy! Many people have dreams about what they want to experience in their lives yet never decide to take full responsibility for learning how to fulfill those dreams.

It is Never Too Late to Start It is never too late to start taking responsibility for your life. No matter what your past or present situation is, the joys of taking full responsibility are always available to you! So, a couple great questions we can ask ourselves with the intent to receive the answers are: • What is the nature of experiencing the joy, love and power that comes from

taking 100% responsibility for my life? • What is the nature of experiencing myself take 100% responsibility for my life in ways that are loving, beneficial and empowering to myself and others? Here’s to the joy of taking full, 100% responsibility for our lives! If uncertainty has become your new normal, you need a new map!

Where are we going? How will we get there? In a world of uncertainty, most of us don’t really know. Our challenge is to sail into uncharted waters—away from the familiar ways that don’t work anymore—to discover ourselves and the infinite potential for our lives. It’s in these as-yet-undiscovered places within us that we come to recognize what we can be and what we can co-create with Spirit. If we try to create guided only by the old, familiar map of our lives, what we create won’t be authentic to who we are becoming; we’ll just be doing the same thing over and over. As intuitive counselor and “spiritual cartographer” Colette Baron-Reid explains, we need a different kind of map—not one that tells us where we’ve been, but one we fill in as each new experience changes us into who we need to be to live our destiny. This new map is a map of the soul. In Uncharted, you’ll learn to draw your own map of the soul as Colette guides you on an inward journey through five interconnected realms. First you’ll get oriented in the Realm of Spirit, your “home” that connects the other four. Then you will do the work of self-evolution and co-creation in the Realms of Mind, Light, Energy, and Form. In the Realm of Mind, you experience your consciousness intermingled with that of all Consciousness. In the Realm of Light, you illuminate the darkness and experience transformation as you reclaim lost parts of yourself. In the Realm of Energy, you consciously direct the forces influencing you. In the Realm of Form, you see the results of your selfevolution manifested in the material world. At every step, you learn to harness your personal power and turn fear into possibility as you venture into the undiscovered places where magic happens.
