allet Arizona is proud to present its momentous 2021-2022 season, celebrating a revival from the pandemic and overcoming the pause in arts programs across the nation. The season will mark the 36th year for Arizona’s official ballet company as well as the first full lineup after the pandemic. Audience members can anticipate a celebratory season filled with iconic partnerships, a world premiere, classic favorites and innovative, emotion-provoking performances. The company leaps toward the upcoming season with renewed optimism, energy and tenacity. After pivoting to digitally streamed and extremely limited in-person performances last season, Ballet Arizona ended its 2020-2021 season with a hope-inducing sold-out series of performances at Desert Botanical Garden.
Ib Andersen presented his long-awaited world premiere, The Four Seasons to nightly standing ovations. The School of Ballet Arizona joined forces with Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestras for a first-ever collaboration as they presented Swan Lake, also under the setting sun and against the stunning desert backdrop of Desert Botanical Garden. These performances invigorated patrons as well as the entire Ballet Arizona family. It is with this feeling of hope and gratitude that Ballet Arizona moves into its 36th anniversary season. The new season will kick off October 29 - 31, with Contemporary Moves. Three ballets that shine the spotlight on masterful and diverse choreography, music and tone from celebrated choreographers: Justin Peck, Sir Frederick Ashton, and Ballet Arizona’s own Nayon Iovino.
