É com grande felicidade que escrevo este texto! Ao longo de algum tempo, esta novidade foi pensada, reavaliada e, acima de tudo, acreditada. Estamos neste momento a lançar a On Startups, a Magazine de empreendedorismo, em Angola. Esta revista mensal nasceu há poucos meses em Portugal, está a ter um grande sucesso, e esta é a nossa primeira edição num País com o qual temos um vínculo social, cultural e linguístico indiscutíveis. A On Startups aproxima quem está a lançar-se no vibrante mundo das startups, promove os seus projectos e dá a conhecer carreiras brilhantes e inspiradoras. Angola e o empreendedorismo de Angola interessamnos por acreditarmos que podem ser uma parte importante na criação desta rede que liga empreendedores e investidores de todo o mundo. Quero, hoje, oferecer as minhas palavras de incentivo àqueles que têm uma ideia e que querem avançar com ela. Mas que, por falta de qualquer coisa, não conseguem fazê-lo. Muitas vezes essa coisa é insignificante, mas acaba por nos prender, seja por não acreditarmos em nós próprios, por não acreditarmos no que queremos desenvolver, ou porque, infelizmente, ninguém acredita em nós. Um conselho de quem já anda nisto há algum tempo? Vão na mesma. Acreditem em vocês e vão. Acreditar, persistir e ser teimosos, talvez ser um pouco loucos: o segredo fundamental. Eu sou Português, mas tenho fortes ligações a Angola. A minha mãe e toda a sua família é de Angola e tenho, por isso, muita família nesse País que me diz tanto. Já tive o prazer de o visitar e quero, com certeza, lá voltar. Um dos meus objetivos pessoais é levar a minha mãe a ver a sua terra novamente, já que saiu de Angola há mais de 40 anos. Faço-o porque, afinal, sou empreendedor também por causa dela. Angola representa a ambição, a motivação e a luta por tudo em que os Angolanos acreditam. Eu, pessoalmente, acredito que Angola e os Angolanos são uma parte importante do futuro do Mundo e estou cá para ver isso na primeira fila! O meu desejo é que se sintam tão felizes por nos receber, quanto nós estamos felizes por vos conhecer.

We are in Angola!

I am very happy to write this text! Over some time, this new venture was thought, re-evaluated and, above all, trusted. We are currently launching On Startups, the Entrepreneurship Magazine, in Angola. This monthly magazine was born a few months ago in Portugal, is having a great success, and this is our first edition in a country with which we have an unquestionable social, cultural and linguistic bond. On Startups brings together those who are launching into the vibrant world of startups, promotes their projects, and showcases bright and inspiring careers. Angola and Angolan entrepreneurship interest us because we believe they can be an important part of creating this network that connects entrepreneurs and investors around the world. Today I want to offer my words of encouragement to those who have an idea and want to move forward with it. But who, for lack of something, can’t do it. Many times this something is insignificant, but it ends up holding us back, either because we don’t believe in ourselves, or because we don’t believe in what we want to develop, or because, unfortunately, nobody believes in us. A word of advice from someone who’s been at this for a while? Go anyway. Believe in yourself and go. Believe, persist and be stubborn, maybe be a little crazy: the fundamental secret. I am Portuguese, but I have strong ties to Angola. My mother and all her family are from Angola, so I have a lot of family in that country that means so much to me. I have already had the pleasure of visiting it and I certainly want to go back. One of my personal goals is to take my mother to see her land again since she left Angola more than 40 years ago. I do it because, after all, I am an entrepreneur also because of her. Angola represents ambition, motivation, and the fight for everything that Angolans believe in. I believe that Angola and Angolans are an important part of the future of the world, and I am here to see that from the front row! My wish is that you feel as happy to welcome us as we are to meet you.
