Puppy Love
HOW TO INCLUDE YOUR DOG IN YOUR WEDDING It is such a special experience to include your dog in your wedding day! It means so much to have them there as part of your wedding celebration. Your pup would be happy with any role you choose for them (as long as it includes belly rubs & treats), but it can be difficult trying to decide where they will fit into the day. There are so many wonderful ways to include them and ensure they don't get overlooked on such an important occasion. Of course, it also shows your vendors and guests how important their presence is to you! 4

FLOWER GIRL OR RING BEARER
This is a big responsibility for your pup on your wedding day. Even if they don’t actually carry the rings or flowers down the aisle, this is still a very special role.
ESCORT
Assigning your dog as an escort to an important person in your ceremony can be a great way to include them. Whether it’s a member of the bridal party, your parents or even the soon-tobe Mr. or Mrs., your dog will know they have an important job to do!
GREETER
Is there anything better than showing up to a wedding only to be greeted with puppy kisses!? If your pup will be the first thing your guests see as they arrive, we guarantee there will be smiles all around!
IN THE DETAILS!
Again, if you’re unable to include them in the actual day (or maybe you can and you just want to show them some extra love!) you can include them in your wedding details! From adding a custom drawing of your pup on your favors or cocktail napkins, to naming your signature cocktail after them! There are so many fun ways to include your pet in your wedding day and show everyone how special they are to you.

How to Travel with Your Significant Other AND STILL LIKE EACH OTHER WHEN YOU GET HOME
For many of us, traveling with your spouse/fiance(e)/girlfriend/boyfriend is a big step in a relationship, and there are few trips as life-changing as a honeymoon. Amidst the excitement of wedding planning, couples don’t often consider the potential challenges that may arise before and during their honeymoon. Here are some things to consider while you are planning your honeymoon to make sure you return from your trip still happily married. Summer/Fall 2019
9
A variety of issues can cause tension between couples before and during a trip: Different Travel Styles: One likes to be on the go while the other wants relaxation; one likes cruises and the other doesn’t. Different Experience Levels in Traveling: One is well-traveled and the other has no idea what to expect in the security line at the airport. Different Expectations: Who is responsible for logistics, reservations, etc. Discussing these issues prior to traveling can contribute to a more enjoyable honeymoon. During the planning process, it’s important to communicate with each other to minimize the stress that comes with traveling to a new place. Talk about previous trips you’ve taken and what you liked or didn’t like about it. If one person is well-traveled and it’s the other person’s first time on a plane, be sure to figure out a game plan of getting to the airport on time and going through security. Have the basic logistics figured out such as accommodations, airport transfers, and rail tickets. Being in a new place is stressful enough without needing to figure out these items on the spot. You don’t need to have a detailed itinerary ready, but at least have some form of structure so that you can free up some brain space to enjoy each other. Delegate duties and responsibilities, who will handle the documents, who will handle the navigating, and who will bring the snacks. As with many things in marriage, find a compromise if neither of you can completely agree. For example, one of you may want to go on a cruise but the other doesn’t want to spend so much time on a megaship. Perhaps look into something like a river cruise or small ship cruise that combines both a cruising experience with a more port-intensive itinerary. One of the best ways to make sure you are covering all your bases for your honeymoon and future travels together is to work with a travel advisor. They will know the right questions to ask, including the ones most people won’t even think to consider. Travel advisors work with couples and families with different tastes all the time and can give you expert opinions and unbiased advice. In addition, they can handle the important travel details for you so that you can simply enjoy each other.

Wedding Cakes
What You Should Know We often get asked why wedding cakes are so much more than your everyday birthday or celebration cake. The truth is that there is so much more that goes into getting that delicious masterpiece to your wedding reception than any other celebration. Here are just a few elements that go into consideration when creating the wedding cake for your big day!
CONSULTATIONS Unlike a birthday cake that you may select out of a binder, your cake artist will need a lot more detail in order to create the cake or dessert that you want for your wedding celebration. They will need to know the overall theme and feel for your wedding, what your vision is for your cake, decor elements, color scheme, etc. Some bakers will provide you with a unique sketch of what your cake will look like.
p.22
TECHNIQUES There are a variety of different techniques that can be used when it comes to creating a wedding cake. The most basic would be deciding if you’d like to use fondant or buttercream as your base. From there you will decide what details you will want, and this can be anything from hand painted elements, time-consuming textures, fondant pieces, and/or sugar art.
PROTECTING FROM THE ELEMENTS
p.23
Florida weather is harsh in general, but it can especially be hard on wedding cakes! The heat can cause the best constructed cake to fall apart. A professional baker will take weather into consideration and have systems in place to make sure that your wedding cake is being well-taken care of.
DELIVERY In the case that an unexpected bump would happen to damage your cake they have kits on hand to fix any issues. Wedding cakes often need to be transported in pieces and then built upon arrival. Many times decor elements will be placed on the cake after delivery as well to make sure that they stay safe during the drive to the venue. This is often a time-consuming and tedious task.

Desiree and Evan
Technically speaking, Desiree and Evan were already married, and their Up the Creek Farms wedding was actually more of a vow renewal! While living in North Carolina, Desiree fell in love with the coastal, low country feel of the area and when it came time to plan their wedding knew she wanted to include those vibes. After visiting Up the Creek Farms, the couple knew it was the perfect venue for them! The beautiful oaks and Spanish moss reminded Desiree of North Carolina. The boathouse worked beautifully with all of the coastal details they had planned.
Summer/Fall 2019
Evan really wanted Desiree to have the wedding of her dream, which for Desiree meant tons of gorgeous, lush flowers. Their florist, Gather Floral Co., created a beautiful greenery circular arch that was able to be repurposed as the backdrop for their sweetheart table. The bridal and bridesmaids bouquets included large air plants, which her best gals were able to have as a keepsake. However, her favorite floral piece was her flower crown. She says, “It made me feel like a goddess. It definitely completed my look and was a great alternative to a veil.

Leslie and Adam
Leslie and Adam chose a simple, vintage theme for their wedding, which perfectly complemented the vintage feel of their venue. Their color scheme was burgundy, gold, blush, and ivory, which was perfectly accented by their choice of garland, spider mums, and roses as wedding flowers. When planning the wedding, the couple placed a huge emphasis on making sure that the wedding was not just for them, but also to marry their two cultures together. Although this was the first time the couple’s families met, they wanted them to mingle and really enjoy each others’ company. By incorporating Leslie’s Puerto Rican culture with including a Batucada (folklore drums and instruments) to get the party started, they had a perfect icebreaker between the two families. The couple shares that while the planning process can oftentimes seem long and stressful, it is all worth it! In the end they loved how their guests enjoyed themselves, and that their families combined on this magical day to celebrate their love!

Yazmin and Robert
Yazmin and Robert’s Holy Trinity Reception Center wedding was full of culture, bold colors, and of course, lots of love! They wanted to incorporate their two different cultures into their wedding, so the theme was American Southern/ Jamaican fusion. For the ceremony they went with a lux theme, incorporating white and gold, a classic draping background, and ghost chairs into the decor. A dramatic entryway draping finished off the ceremony look.
Summer/Fall 2019
After the ceremony, the newlyweds wanted their guests to feel as if they were transported to Jamaica. They had steel drummers playing at their cocktail hour and highlighted dynamic colors of the Jamaican culture with their reception decor. Bold fuchsia, teal, and gold pops of color were incorporated throughout the reception space. Not only did the wedding vibes change, but so did the whole wedding party. Each member, including the bride and groom, changed their attire to fit with the mood of the vibrant wedding reception.

T he Banyan Estate MALABAR, FL
Nicole and Nelson
This Banyan Estate Wedding is the perfect example of how you can truly mesh your personalities together to come up with a unique and meaningful wedding concept. The couple both enjoy travel, but Nicole loves the bohemian style, while Nelson is more of a classic kind of guy. They wanted to somehow bring all of this into their wedding day decor. For their color palette they use vintage tones of greens, dusty blue, mauve and ivory mixed in with navy, gold and maroon. To include their love of travel, an old atlas that they had for years served as a unique guest book. They also had a map on the wall and asked people to pin a place that they should travel together. The bohemian atmosphere that Nicole wanted stood out the most in the florals. Lush greenery with a beautiful King Protea worked perfectly in the bridal bouquet. Nelson’s classic style was incorporated with a cigar and whiskey area complete with a vintage couch, old suitcases, and whiskey barrel chairs. They even had a vintage blue car parked by the sitting area to complete the look.

Luxmore Grande Estate WINTER SPRINGS, FL
Morgan and Travis
It was all about the greenery for this vintage Luxmore Grande Estate wedding! University of Florida alumni Morgan and Travis wanted it to look like nature reclaiming the mansion in a classy and tasteful way. By incorporating a ton of greenery and white flowers, they achieved their desired look. In fact, one of Morgan’s favorite details of the day were the crawling vines that were placed on the curtains of their sweetheart table. The end result was elegant and enchanting at the same time. For Morgan, the best part of their wedding day was doing a first look with her soon-to-be

husband as well as her father. She shared that she loved having that intimate and emotional moment with these men that mean so much to her. The venue’s beautiful entryway set the stage perfectly. After a lovely garden ceremony, the couple took photos with their bridal party in the unique library space. They proceed to the grand ballroom for the reception where their beautiful theme continued. Morgan’s advice, “Spend the money on the flowers and the decor because it really does make the experience so magical and beautiful…” And from viewing the pictures of the decor from their wedding day, we have to say that we agree!

Brides' ADVICE Wedding planning can be an overwhelming world. It’s always helpful to have advice. Who better to give wedding planning advice than those that just went through the process and came out on the other end?! We asked the brides of this issue’s featured weddings to share their wedding planning wisdom for couples preparing to walk down the aisle.
“Try not to stress! The hard part is over, you already found the perfect person. Relax, take it all in, and have fun!”
Desiree, Up the Creek Farms p.32
“It’s a long and stressful process. But at the end it will be worth it!.”
Leslie, Highland Manor p.35
Summer/Fall 2019
47
“Relax and breathe. Do not forget to take a moment during your wedding reception to step back and take it all in. Remember the wedding is just one day but you have a lifetime with your partner.”
Yazmin, Holy Trinity Reception Center p.37
“Try your best to lay everything you think you want out before you start planning. Start with what is really important to you and go from there, but remember that those things may change over time, so be flexible. It’s so easy to be indecisive with all the options out there. Once you decide on something, stick with it and try not to keep looking at other options. Don’t try to do everything yourself. If you can afford a planner...then DO IT.”
Nicole, The Banyan Estate p.41
“I was able to plan this wedding in 3 months (which is a miracle)! I suggest giving yourself time to pay attention to every detail that is special to you, but with hard work you can make a beautiful wedding on any timeframe! Spend the money on the flowers and decor because it really does make the experience so magical and beautiful to have on your big day and in your photos forever. Nothing beats beautiful fresh flowers and greenery, especially if your florist is an artist like mine was.”
Morgan, Luxmore Grande Estate p.44 48
