Welcome to the Winter/Spring 2022 issue of Orange Blossom Bride Magazine and congrats on your engagement! As we come out of 2021, wedding pros have been crazy busy accomodating wedding reschedules from the onset of the pandemic, along with weddings that were already on their schedules. With these COVIDera couples finally saying their “I Dos”, we are starting to see signs that our local wedding industry is beginning to inch towards some normalcy. Being in the wedding industry, planning a wedding, or heck just being alive during this trying time has truly taught us what is important in life. In this issue, I wanted to focus on incorporating this clarity as it relates to couples planning their weddings. I have always viewed weddings as so much more than a day or a big party celebrating love. It’s truly about this unique experience that you share, not only with each other, but with the ones you love. Embracing that your wedding is not just about that one day but also the planning before and the remembrance after, creates an experience that you will cherish for years to come. I hope you enjoy this issue and find it helpful in allowing you to embrace all parts of your wedding planning experience!
HAPPY PLANNING!!

How to Plan a Wedding Budget
Along with creating your wedding wishlist, one of the first things you are going to be doing in the wedding planning process is determining your wedding budget. Oftentimes, this is looked at as a restriction. However, every wedding has a wedding budget. Whether you’re planning to spend $10,000 or $80,000, there is a set amount of money that you have allotted to spend on your wedding. Wedding planning can get overwhelming so it’s important to understand this amount prior to booking your venue and vendors. Let’s look at how to create a wedding budget that is customized to your wedding.

WHO IS CONTRIBUTING
In order to determine a wedding budget, you first have to know how much you have to work with. Traditionally, the bride’s family would pay for the whole wedding. However, today most couples are contributing the majority, if not all funds to their wedding budget. If you do have others that would like to contribute to your wedding budget, find out how much so that you can add this into the total wedding budget.
DETERMINE TOP PROIRITIES
If you’ve researched wedding budgets, you’ve most likely seen a wedding budget breakdown. These breakdowns give you an estimate of what you should be paying percentage-wise for each category of your wedding. It’s important to note that these are just guides, not rules. This is because they don’t take into account your wedding priorities. One of the things we love most about weddings today is that no two weddings are the same. Each couple has a unique wedding vision. One couple may be big foodies and want to incorporate different food stations. However, they are not really focused on having custom invitations made. In this case, they would take the money allotted for invitations towards their catering budget. Your wedding budget should reflect your priorities with consideration of accurate vendor estimates in your area. Creating a wedding wishlist with the top three priorities for you and your future spouse will help you determine a more accurate wedding budget breakdown.
BE REALISTIC
One of the most common mistakes couples make is their estimates of vendor cost. It’s important to research the cost of each category prior to determining how much you will spend for that vendor. You may purchase a cake at the grocery store for $50 but there is a lot more that goes into a wedding cake. This means there will be more costs involved. Remember you are planning a wedding, not a birthday party. Vendors put a lot of time into each of their services which is factored into those costs. Also, the location you have your wedding will vary the cost of wedding vendor services. The Winter/Spring 2022
national average for weddings is about $29,000, which factors all the weddings across the country. Here in Central Florida, wedding budgets average is around $25,000, whereas in New York City they are about $48,000. Researching the area you are getting married in will help you create a more realistic budget. Regardless of where you have your wedding celebration, most couples find that a large portion of their wedding budget will go to their wedding venue and food. When you are looking at wedding venues always make note of what the rental cost includes. Venue rental inclusions vary. If you are renting a space that does not include any tables and chairs, you will have to factor in the rental cost of those items. This will be helpful for you to know when you are comparing another venue that does include these items.
LEAVE SOME WIGGLE ROOM
Even if you create a wedding budget with your priorities and accurate vendor estimates for your area, there will almost always be other wedding costs that come up. Making space in your budget from the beginning for these expenses will make them a lot easier to manage as they come along. Expenses like postage and wedding party gifts sometimes get left out of a wedding budget, but can easily add up. You don’t want to be in a position where your wedding budget is being eaten up by these unplanned expenses. Easy Tips for Planning a
d n e k e e W g n i d d e W
You’ll hear it all the time when you’re engaged. “It will go by so fast!” And indeed, the actual wedding ceremony and celebration do go by very quickly. Especially when you consider the amount of time and care that goes into planning vs. actually celebrating. So why not extend your celebration into the days surrounding your wedding? Won’t that be expensive? I don’t want to add more stress to my plate. It’s not as much work as you might think! Here are four steps to creating a wedding weekend without upping your budget or your stress level.
COME OUT AND SAY IT!
Make it clear on your Save the Dates and wedding invitations – “Join Us for Our Wedding Weekend!” This wording will cue out-of-town and local guests to take another day off of work or even invest in a hotel for the weekend. Your guests will feel inspired to make advanced plans if you invite them to spend a few days instead of just a few hours with you!
INFO RICH WEDDING WEBSITE Provide hotel options as well as local area recommendations and attractions for your visiting AND local guests. Also include an itinerary of unofficial social meetups throughout the week/weekend. You don’t have to foot the bill for these casual outings and they are a great chance for people from different areas of your life to meet prior to the wedding day. Invite those not included in the rehearsal dinner to an after-hours gathering! If social media is your thing, you can create a private Facebook Group for up-to-date information throughout the weekend.
CHOOSING A VENUE WITH STAYING POWER The easiest way to centralize your wedding weekend is to select a venue with overnight stay options onsite or nearby. Consider setting up a hotel room block at a neighboring hotel. It is relatively simple and low risk to set up a discount code specific to your wedding. Also, it’s fun for your guests to randomly run into each other throughout the weekend!
DELAY YOUR HONEYMOON
Waiting a day, week, or even month to go on a honeymoon is growing in popularity. Have you ever been fully relaxed the day before a big trip? Nope! Give yourself the gift of being fully present on your wedding day. It also gives you and your partner the opportunity to mingle with your friends and family for another day or two. Which takes some pressure off talking to everyone during the actual wedding reception.

Tips for an
Amazing
Engagement Session
Your engagement session captures an exciting and special time for you and your future spouse. Here are things to consider to make sure you have an amazing experience.
GET PAMPERED
Regardless of if you are going for a glam or more laid-back look, you will want to look your best for your engagement session. Book an appointment to get your hair and makeup professionally done and treat yourselves to a new outfit. Don’t forget to get your nails done. Ring shots are always a great addition to your engagement session photos!
PERSONALIZE YOUR SESSION When selecting the location of your engagement session, you should select a spot that reflects you as a couple. If you are nature lovers, then a downtown backdrop might not be for you. Selecting one of the beautiful parks in the area may be a better choice. Personal additions, like including your pup, are a special touch as well.
LET LOSE
Many couples aren’t fully comfortable in front of a photographer. However, keep in mind you will be in front of one your whole wedding day. Use your session as a dress rehearsal for your wedding day. This is the time to communicate with your photographer. You’ll feel more comfortable at your wedding and will have more candid and natural photos.
MAKE A DAY OF IT
Most engagement sessions last about an hour or two. There’s no sense in letting those new outfits and dapper looks go to waste. Plan a date for after your photos. You’ll be feeling extra affectionate and it’s the perfect opportunity to keep the fun going.

Top Wedding
Regrets
Over the past 6 years, we have featured hundreds of weddings on Orange Blossom Bride. With every feature, we ask couples to complete a survey about their wedding planning process and the wedding day itself. We also ask some reflection questions. One of these questions is, “Do you have any regrets about your wedding?” Of the hundreds of answers that we have received to this question, there are three regrets that are most commonly listed by couples. Take these into consideration as you plan your wedding.
MANAGING THE DETAILS
While going through the wedding planning process, you will learn that there are a lot of details that go into bringing your wedding day to life. These details may be fine to work through as a couple prior to the wedding. However, as the wedding day approaches, especially the month prior, all the details need to come together, vendors need to be coordinated, and a timeline needs to be created. Not to mention all the tasks that need to happen on the day of your wedding. Someone will need to be in charge of making sure your wedding runs smoothly. You could ask a friend or family member to do this, but in almost all cases they are not familiar with the logistics of a wedding. This means they will be coming to you to resolve any issues that come up. Honestly, no couple wants that extra stress on their wedding day! The top regret that we get from couples is that they wish they had hired a wedding planner/ coordinator. We always like to tell couples that a month-of wedding coordinator at minimum needs to be worked into your wedding budget. Look at it as a form of “wedding insurance”. Hiring a professional wedding coordinator 12
allows you the assurance that you can actually enjoy the wedding you and your future spouse worked so hard to create without worrying about managing the details the day of.
MOTIONLESS MEMORIES
We are sure by now you’ve heard a million times how fast your wedding day will go by. Let us tell you a million and one, YOUR WEDDING DAY WILL FLY BY! After your wedding, you’ll find yourself trying your hardest to remember all the details. You’ll listen to stories from your wedding guests of things you didn’t even know happened. Hiring a professional wedding photographer will help you freeze these moments in time for you to enjoy forever. However, photos freeze the moments. They won’t allow you to hear the laughter and sniffles from heartfelt vows. They won’t let you see the movement of the sweet dances with your parents. They won’t let you hear the emotional words of how beautiful you look from your grandmother long after she passes. Hiring a wedding videographer is the best way to capture all these special moments. Orange Blossom Bride
When wedding budgets are tight, wedding videography doesn’t always make the cut. Many couples assume that their photos will be enough. We are not in any way saying to forgo a photographer for a videographer. Wedding photos are a must! However, not hiring a professional wedding videographer is a close second regret couples have when it comes to their wedding.
wedding. It can get overwhelming, fast. You will most likely want to include your friends and family in the wedding planning process and provide a memorable experience for your wedding guests. However, it is ok to let those with unwanted suggestions or critiques know that while you appreciate their thoughts, you and your future spouse are happy with and are keeping “XYZ” wedding decision.
Weddings are events that can never be duplicated. Of course, you can duplicate details, but the chances of all your wedding guests coming together again are slim. As time moves, things change and loved ones pass on. Your wedding video is the closest you can come to reliving your wedding day. We promise we’ve never heard of a couple regretting spending the extra money to have a treasured keepsake they can enjoy for years to come.
The third most popular wedding regret from couples is that they listened too much to others. In turn, they didn’t do the things they wanted for their wedding. Can we let you in on a secret? No matter how perfect you think your wedding is, there will always be someone who would have done it differently. You can’t please everyone, nor should that be your focus. You want a wedding day that you can look back on and say, “Our wedding represented us perfectly and we wouldn’t have changed anything.” Go with your vision and let others think what they want.
SO MANY OPINIONS
You will quickly find, from the moment you announce your engagement, everyone will have an opinion on every little detail of your

WEDDING TIPS
Honoring Loved Ones at Your Wedding Weddings are joyful occasions that are celebrated with those we love most. However, the loss of a loved one can cause heighten emotions during this time. It is natural to feel a void due to the lack of their presence, but there are many ways that you can remember and honor your loved ones during your wedding.
MEMORIAL PHOTOS
Photos are always a great reminder of sweet memories and people. Including them at your wedding celebration is a way to have those present that can not attend. Whether you are sharing a family member’s wedding photos or a snapshot of your favorite memories with them, you can place these on a guestbook table or reception table. You could even create a designated remembrance table for them.
CEREMONY REFLECTION
Your wedding ceremony is the one time in your wedding that you will have all of your wedding guests’ undivided attention. Whether you’d like a moment of silence, a special reading, or even share a memory, it’s the perfect time to honor those special to you.
FAMILY HEIRLOOMS
If you are looking for “something borrowed”, a family heirloom is the perfect accessory. Jewelry pieces, such as earrings, a necklace, or cufflinks, are all wonderful options. It is also a great way to hold those loved ones close to you throughout your wedding day. Winter/Spring 2022
SPECIAL SONG
Selecting a song that they loved or reminds you of them is a great way to incorporate your loved ones into your wedding. Whether it is a song that you walk up the aisle to or dance to at the reception, you’ll be adding special meaning to your wedding day playlist.
FAVORITE FLOWER
Just as with selecting a favorite song, including a loved one’s favorite flower can be a great way to represent them at your wedding. Whether in your bridal bouquet or boutonniere, or in the guest table centerpieces, this special flower can add beauty to your decor and wonderful memories to your wedding day.
DELICIOUS WEDDING FAVORS
When it comes to remembering loved ones, we find comfort in many ways. Food is definitely high on that list. Including a dessert or food item that your loved one was famous for provides your guests with a delicious and meaningful wedding favor.

Florist
Weddings and flowers go hand in hand. They bring freshness and amp up any wedding design. Since it’s one of the few times in life that you will be purchasing a large number of flowers, you will most likely have questions. We had a few of our favorite local wedding florists answer some questions that couples frequently have when it comes to their wedding florals.
Photo: Rudy and Marta Phootography Florist: Events by The Flower Studio
Do You Make Samples of My Bouquet and/or Arrangments? “We can make samples of bouquets and arrangements. However, the cost would be quite substantial to the couple creating one piece versus multiple pieces. When purchasing florals, we have to order stems in bulk and each stem must be paid for. If a couple is willing to pay for all the florals and design work, we can definitely create samples prior to the wedding.” - Jill Heaton of Jill Heaton Event Decor
Can You Guarantee Specific Flowers?
“Since we do not grow our flowers, we depend on logistics and the transportation chain, which is a system we have no control of. Due to this, every florist’s contract will say that we have the right to make substitutions. We sell color harmony and style, not specific flowers. As a professional florist, we want you to know this upfront so there aren’t any surprises the day of your wedding.” - Andie Muller of Events by The Flower Studio
How Can I Repurpose My Ceremony Arrangements?
“Depending on your ceremony arrangements, there are a few ways to repurpose. For instance, floral garlands from an arch can be redesigned and repurposed to double as a luxurious sweetheart table arrangement.” - Jolie Colon of Le Fleur Atelier

Grand Ol’ Barn
T iffany + Cameron With only 12 days left only till they said their “I Dos”, Tiffany and Cameron unexpectedly had to cancel their original wedding plans. Thinking their big day was lost, the Grand Ol’ Barn team and wedding planner, Candace Battle of The Event Company, reached out to help the couple bring their wedding vision back to life. One of the most important parts of the celebration was their wedding ceremony. The couple originally met at church while serving as young adult ministry leaders. Bride, Tiffany explained, “We chose to do communion at our wedding, and we really wanted to have a moment of worship. With our friends singing and playing keys, we were able to do that and it was so powerful. We wanted to honor God because our relationship would not be where it is without Him and we definitely wouldn’t have had our wedding without His provision.” In the end, even with the hiccup so close to the wedding date, Tiffany and Cameron said there wasn’t anything that they would have changed about their wedding day! 24

Orlando Science Center
Amanda + Kris As lovers of all things fantasy, Amanda and Kris’ winter wedding was inspired by the enchanting worlds of Lord of the Rings, Games of Thrones, and Harry Potter to name a few. The unique atmosphere of the Orlando Science Center created the perfect whimsical backdrop for the couple’s wedding vision to come to life. Their favorite part of their wedding was the room reveal prior to their reception starting. Bride, Amanda explains, “Our amazing vendor team put together a magical moment for the two of us to explore the setup. Seeing all of the planning and our imagination come to life was so satisfying. From the carefully selected designer furniture illuminated by soft glowing lights to the ethereal dessert table covered in lush florals, it was a whimsical world of our own to discover and perfectly set to Harry Potter theme music.” When it comes to advice Amanda would give other couples planning their wedding, she says, “Don’t stress about things outside of your control, take the time to have fun, and be flexible.” We couldn’t agree more! 26

Heather + Ellen For the design of their wedding, Heather and Ellen wanted to transport their wedding guests straight into a royal wedding-inspired fairytale. Lush pastel florals filled every part of the stunning Luxmore Grande Estate. The couple also included personalized details in the venue’s library. A beautiful snow globe from Heather’s mom, a handmade Harry Potter wand display, and photos of family members that couldn’t attend were just a few of the treasured keepsakes on display. Of all the amazing details and experiences from their wedding day, it was their wedding ceremony that made the top of their list. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows, which included a handfast cord adorned with charms to represent their lives. Bride Heather explains, “My beautiful 96-year-old grandmother handing us our rings during the ceremony as her face filled with pride. It was unreal! T aylor + Qwanean The burgundy and navy fall wedding of Taylor and Qwanean included touches of gold, hints of rustic elements, and beautiful velvet textures. The couple reached out to Paige Nethers of Two Peas Paper Co. to create a personalized wedding crest that would become the most important and memorable detail of their wedding according to bride, Taylor. She explains “Our crest symbolizes our love for our family, including our one-year-old daughter. My horse Neo is a huge part of our lives, so we incorporated horseshoes to symbolize him. Also to symbolize unity and our families coming together.” For the couple, sharing their union with their family and friends was the best part of their wedding day. The day was filled with love, laughter, cherished memories, and so much dancing! When it comes to advice for current brides, Taylor reminds, “(The wedding) takes a year to plan, but it’s gone in a blink of an eye. Dragonfly Farm FL
Carrigan + T renton This fun-loving couple wanted to bring in a light and airy summer feel for their beautiful wedding. The covered wedding ceremony at Dragonfly Farms FL helped set this tone. For Carrigan and Trenton, celebrating their union with their family and friends who traveled from all over the United States was the best part of their wedding day. Carrigan even paid tribute to her grandfather who had passed away from Alzheimer’s, whom she affectionately called Poppy. In his honor, she included a poppy embroidered handkerchief and photo around her bridal bouquet, along with bright red poppies among the lush greenery and white florals in the bouquet. From the hexagon ceremony backdrop to the signature drinks, a slight bee theme could be found throughout the details of the wedding, paying a nod to the fact that the couple met on Bumble. Carrigan credits the success of their wedding day to an amazing vendor team, saying, “Our wedding was absolutely magical. Thanks to Dragonfly Farms FL and our amazing vendor team, our day went so smoothly! The only thing that we wish is to go back in time and relive that day again!” 32

Venue 1902
Genesis + Edwin When the bride’s favorite color is orange and her favorite season is fall, burnt orange and navy blue make for the perfect color palette. Genesis and Edwin’s wedding at Venue 1902 was all about family, friends, and culture. They each were able to spend time prior to their wedding ceremony in the venue’s new bride and groom spaces. The couple also included the Puerto Rican flag in their first dance as well as Pitorro, a Puerto Rican rum, as their wedding favors. For Bride Genesis, the best part of the day was walking down the aisle. She couldn’t believe the day had come for them to say their “I Dos”. Genesis recalls, “It didn’t feel real at first, but as I walked down the aisle everything just came together so well. It was literally the best feeling and part of the day. I really loved how the confetti fell on us as we had our first kiss as husband and wife.” Genesis reminds couples that the key to wedding planning is to take it one step at a time. “Actually sit down and analyze what you want for your special day. At first, you will feel you want to have it all, but it really comes down to choosing what you want to remember the most on the best night of your life.” Such great advice! 34

Getting Back to International Honeymoons
by Get Out! Custom Travels We have gone through a tough dry spell in international travel, but the time to start dreaming about and planning for that amazing out of country honeymoon has begun! Here are a few of my favorite destinations to feed your wanderlust that are open, or will be opening soon, to international tourists.
36
Orange Blossom Bride
Greece
This iconic honeymoon destination needs no introduction. From the timeless historical sites of the mainland, such as Meteora, to the world-famous white-washed buildings of the Aegean islands, there’s no question why couples choose Greece for their honeymoon and anniversary trips. The great news is that Greece is open to international travelers, and it’s relatively easy for American tourists to enter.
Fiji
Another popular honeymoon and anniversary destination is Fiji (I mean, look at the water!). Fiji is known to have some of the world’s happiest people and their hospitality reflects that. With hundreds of islands and resorts, there are activities for the adventurous couple, the couple who would just like to relax, and everyone in between. They have an amazing food scene with Indian influences, and it’s easy to be immersed in the local culture.
Ireland
It’s amazing how this small island across the pond can offer so many unforgettable experiences. Imagine mingling among the locals at a traditional Irish pub, drinking a Guinness or Irish whisky, while listening to a live Irish band. Maybe hiking over fields of green, taking in the beautiful scenery is more your style. Whether you want to stay in a sprawling castle or in a cozy B&B, Ireland has you covered. However you like to travel, there is something for everyone.
