essentials resort
The pace of new resort developments across Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz and the surrounding valley continues unabated. In fact, it was impossible to fit everything on the pages that follow, so we’ve included a more thorough guide to what’s new and exciting on our website.
Events From the Critérium du Dauphiné to the UCI MTB World Cup, a number of excellent events are planned across our villages and valleys this summer. In order to give you the most precise, up to date information, we’ve included them all on our website events calendar, which also includes current COVID-19 regulations concerning gatherings. Head to morzinesourcemagazine. com for the latest events information. What's new in Bike Park Les Gets? Our mountain resorts generated very little revenue during the Winter 21 season. Despite this, they continue to invest in improved facilities and trails for the summer season. This is certainly true in Les Gets, where bike park shapers have overhauled the 4-cross at the bottom of La Roue Libre this spring for your riding pleasure. The team have also taken the time to give this arrival zone a facelift, making it even more spectacular. The Triple 8 has also been entirely refurbished by the Bike Park Les Gets team. Go forth and enjoy!

Nyon - Dedicated to You
A Bike Park for All Levels in Morzine
Because not everyone visits Morzine during the summer to hurtle down mountains, Nyon is now dedicated to those seeking a more relaxed pace during the sunny months. Take the free bus from Morzine or leave your car in the free car park at the base of the mountain, ride the brand new escalator to the gondola lift and enjoy the views as you head up to the Nyon Plateau. Take the Pointe de Nyon chairlift to access the 15 metre, glass-floored viewing platform perched at an altitude of 2019 metres for incredible views between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. Mountain flora and fauna are also abundant on Nyon, whilst the Pointe de Nyon restaurant is now home to a mini mountain farm with goats, rabbits and chickens, birds of prey and demonstrations by local shepherds. A new environmental trail has also been created next to the restaurant, complete with information boards to help you spot animals, mountains flowers and more.
Vital MTB voted Morzine’s Bike Park 8th best in the world in 2020, yet progress continues to make it more inclusive for beginner riders. With a focus on creating environmentally friendly features by hand, last summer brought us a brand new, free to enjoy, beginners area at the top of Pleney, complete with small berms and jumps for the smallest of riders. This year a new 4.5km long trail named Family has been installed and as the name suggests, it’s a gentle trail with several banked turns. At the other end of the scale, former French downhill champion and Santa Cruz ambassador Romain Paulhan has collaborated with the bike park team to redesign the red trail, now renamed Super 8. Expect a technical run with jumps and tables. There’s also two new bike wash points at the bottom of Pleney and they’re free to use with your lift pass.
