Happy New Year to all of our members. I am looking forward to a successful and prosperous 2025.

As we move on to start our second century as an Association, I would like to tell you how proud I am to be your President. I will strive to work with all of you as a team to make our Association better than ever.

This past year has been a little challenging and we have seen many changes in our industry but I believe because of our strength and tenacity, we are going to rise above and we will all be better for it.

We would not have been as well prepared for all the changes had it not been for our 2024 President, Jim Lowe. Your steadfast leadership, calming spirit, and knowledge were ever so helpful and we are all grateful you were at the helm.

The beginning of a new year is so very exciting because of all the wonderful possibilities.

In 2025 we will place more emphasis on the evolving

needs of our members whether it be through educational opportunities such as continuing education CE credit hours, classes or designations, advocacy initiatives at the local, state, and national levels, or through many of our committees. I encourage all members to participate in all things that align with your skills and interests.

I am also very proud of the committee chairs and vice-chairs, the new board of directors, and Twis and her staff. I look forward to working with this amazing team. We are truly here to make the member experience that much better for each and every member.

Florida Realtors® Mid-Winter Meetings

What: 2025 Florida Realtors Mid-Winter Business Meetings

When: January 30-February 2 (Virtual committee meetings: January 15-16)

Where: Hyatt Regency Orlando, 9801 International Drive, Orlando, FL 32819

Participants and members at this annual business summit strive to advance the association’s initiatives through advocacy and committee involvement. Members take an active role to advance the real estate industry, public policy and the association.

Top highlights include the Florida Realtors Real Estate Trends summit, where Florida Realtors Chief Economist Dr. Brad O’Connor offers market and economic insights for the coming year, and the annual Inaugural Banquet, where we celebrate past leadership and welcome our new leaders. Plus: The Realtor Town Hall draws top state leaders!

The four-day event concludes with the Board of Directors meeting, where the association’s bylaws are updated to ensure the association’s membership goals are met and keep the association on a path of success.

Entertainment provided during the event promotes the industry and its vitality among the Realtor® network.

This class answers common questions about the appraisal process, including appraiser interactions, sales data, comparable sales, and appraisal purposes.

As REALTORS® we handle escrow anytime we handle money that doesn’t belong to us. This can include sales contracts, deposits, rent, security deposits, advanced rents, or maintenance money for repairs.

All active members must take a code of ethics class once every three years. The applicable dates are the same for all Realtors irrespective of when they join. The current cycle began January 1, 2025, and ends on December 31, 2027.

Understanding real estate law is part of every real estate licensee’s business. This material will provide a “red flag notice” of when participants are potentially going into a danger zone—the unlicensed practice of law.

This course will explore methods agents and brokers can use to learn about incoming and outgoing international investments.

This course examines the art of negotiation and what it can mean for a real estate professional when practiced correctly. It will help REALTORS® determine what negotiation is and how they can use it to find a solution.
