Hello everyone, I’m Donnie Martinez, your 2021 President, with your monthly update. The NAR Legislative meetings are over and we had a great turn out. Over 250 people, from all over the world, attended our Canadian Trade Mission event! I hope you enjoyed it. June is National Home Ownership Awareness month. Becoming a new homeowner brings individuals one step closer to achieving “The American Dream.” We as Realtors make this happen every day, when we show and sell properties to homeowners. So join us in celebrating home ownership awareness all month. Remember, this is how we shape new buyers and help them through the process of buying a home to Homeownership. Also, make sure you attend Florida Realtor’s District 12 meeting on June 3, hosted by our own Danny Hernandez. Show your support for our District by attending.

I was having a conversation with a home inspector the other day. He seemed knowledgeable, so I asked what kind of building weighs the
least? He thought a minute and said, “A Lighthouse”.

The REALTORS® Care Committee recently spent the day volunteering on-site at one of the Osceola Council on Aging’s residential properties building a wheelchair ramp for a disabled veteran.

Commercial Alliance Committee TERESA REILLY-O’DOHERTY COMMERCIAL ALLIANCE TASK FORCE CHAIR The Commercial Alliance Committee is working hard to offer the Fundamentals of Commercial Real Estate course to Osceola County Association Of REALTORS® members in the upcoming months. There are various types of Commercial Real Estate and it is a good idea when focusing on Commercial Real Estate to choose a niche. For example, you can choose to specialize in retail, land, office or multi-family properties. The Fundamentals of Commercial Real Estate course gives members an opportunity to explore each of these types, and decide if Commercial Real Estate is right for you. National Code of Ethics Day®
Code of Ethics Live Stream Our members are invited to attend the National Real Estate Ethics Day® 2021 Live Stream on Thursday, June 17, 1 pm - 4 pm. The National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics Requirement triennial deadline is December 31, 2021. If you still need to satisfy this requirement, please consider registering for this fun event. Leigh Brown, REALTOR® and author, will walk participants through all of the Code of Ethics articles - including all recent updates. Members will also be able to learn from case studies from actual REALTORS® and their experiences with the public. In addition to completing the Code of Ethics requirement and staying informed, you will also be giving back to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation by attending this event. This Education program will assist you in competently preparing a purchase and sale contract for residential real estate. After this workshop, you’ll have a completed contract along with every rider. The purpose of a well prepared contract is to ensure that all parties understand the obligations of themselves and the parties to the contract. There should be no misunderstandings, nor “what happens if”. Instead, the Buyer, the Seller, the Broker(s) and all of the service providers must know their specific roles and the time frames within which to accomplish their specific task(s).

Mandatory ethics training requirements for new and continuing REALTOR® members was established by the National Association’s Board of Directors at the 1999 Annual Convention and went into effect for all active REALTOR® members January 1, 2001. The policy dictates that all active members must take a code of ethics class once every two years. The applicable dates are the same for all REALTORS® irrespective of when they join. The current cycle began January 1, 2019 and ends December 31, 2021.
