Annual Meeting

On December 4, please join us for our annual year-end meeting. This is a free event open to all of our membership. During the meeting we will review the progress we’ve made in 2018, recognize our current Board of Directors, and vote on proposed bylaw changes. In addition we will have guest speakers from Florida REALTORS® and MFRMLS to provide updates. The meeting begins promptly at 3:00pm and will conclude with a happy hour. Doors will close at 3:30 pm.

We will be discussing several topics that directly affect how we are able to serve our membership. Those planning on attending should RSVP by November 30. COURSE MONITOR SPOTLIGHT 1. How long have you been monitoring? It has been about 4 years.

2. Why do you like monitoring? I like monitoring as it is a way I

can support my Association, meet a lot of agents, and still get my CE credits done!

3. What TIPS would you give newbies? The paperwork can be

a little overwhelming, so you do have to pay attention to the job requirements (logging times, getting everyone back in after breaks, etc.). And be sure that you ask everyone to get out their business card ahead of time in case they need to leave during the training. That way, if they drop it off with you on their way out, you get the info you need to fill out the paperwork and it does not disrupt the class. When the class is over be sure everyone signs out and turns in their evaluations.

Vote Yes on Amendment 2 on Nov. 6 Only 1 more day until Election Day! We are encouraging your family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues to make a plan to vote. Amendment 2 is critical for REALTORS®. It preserves the decade-old 10 percent cap on annual increases of nonhomestead property taxes. If it doesn’t pass, Floridians are looking at a $700+ million tax increase that will translate into increased costs on goods and services, higher rents and general economic uncertainty within their communities.

Because this initiative does not have a traditional “Field Program” it is our responsibility to inform the public. If you aren’t seeing yard signs, the solution is simple: please put some out! NOVEMBER 16, 2018 On November 16, Grant Simon will be teaching the Military Relocation Professional (MRP) certification class. This class is for real estate professionals who want to work with current and former military service members. The MRP certification program educates REALTORSŽ about working with U.S. service members, veterans, and their families to find the housing solutions that best suit their needs and how to take full advantage of available benefits and support. By taking this course, you will gain an understanding of the processes and procedures involved in a military relocation, the ability to provide information to help members through a rent or buying process, the ability to identify and provide services that help members find and purchase suitable homes, and much more! Richard Fryer will be instructing at the Home Sweet (second ) Home - Vacation, Investments, and Luxury Properties class on December 3. This one day course is designed to teach the essentials of buying, selling, and managing resort properties and second homes for recreation , investment, and development.
