Condado Osceola, FL- A medida que va manejando por US192 se habrá dado cuenta todos los pequeños y los grandes cambios que se han producido. Somos la Junta de Delegados de Reurbanización de la US192 del Condado Osceola. Soy la Vice Presidenta de esta junta y entre otras cosas nos estamos enfocando en ayudar a traer nuevos negocios y en la remodelación negocios antiguos actuales en el corredor. Nuevos negocios y mejora de los ya existentes es uno de los muchos objetivos.

Sabemos que al hacer esto estamos mejorando el futuro de nuestros residentes, turistas y a propietarios de negocios por igual.

Osceola County, FL - As you drive down US192 you may have noticed all the small and big changes that are taking place. We are the US192 Redevelopment Authority Board of Osceola County. I am V-Chair of this board and among other things one important focus we have is to help bring in NEW Product and Remodeling current older product on the corridor. New Business and improving Businesses is one of our many Goals. We know that by doing this we are improving the future for our residets, tourists and business owners alike.

We want to help the businesses grow on this very historical 15 mile corridor. We are implementing programs to do just that for example: The Flexible Assistance program is a subcommittee created. As chair of this Subcommittee we are offering a program that gives a “Hand Up” and brings assistance to the small businesses facing the corridor that are in distress.

El gobernador Scott destaca la creación de empleo en Cole Engineering Services Orlando, Fl. - El gobernador Rick Scott destacó a Cole Engineering, una empresa de servicios de ingeniería cuyos empleados son parte dueños, por la creación de 40 nuevos puestos de trabajo desde que anunció planes de expansión en Florida el pasado otoño. Cole Engineering emplea a 125 residentes de la Florida, y ha invertido una suma adicional de $1 millón en la comunidad de Orlando desde su expansión.

IRS - Noticias / News Evite líneas largas y demoras, use las herramientas en línea para ayuda tributaria Washington, DL - El Servicio de Impuestos Internos (IRS) advierte sobre las largas líneas en algunos de los centros de ayuda al contribuyente más grandes en la nación y demoras prolongadas en el teléfono. Avoid Long Lines and Hold Times, Use Online Tools for Tax Help Washington, DL - The Internal Revenue Service is warning of possible long lines at some of the largest Taxpayers Assistance Centers across the country and long hold times on the phone. As the tax filing deadline fast approaches, when possible, the IRS recommends taxpayers take advantage of the numerous online tools for fast, easy service.

Tens of millions of Americans are still planning to file their taxes by the April 15 deadline. Because limited resources have impacted some IRS services, the IRS reminds taxpayers that they can get answers to many of their tax questions, tax forms and publications and much more by visiting IRS.gov. Often taxpayers may find it more convenient to visit IRS. gov to get the tax help they need.

The IRS has also seen an increase in demand at Taxpayer Assistance Centers for transcript services, for non-cash payments or for help with collection services even though there are options online. The IRS website has many tools and services that make getting IRS help a quick click away in these areas.

You can also use the Interactive Tax Assistant tool for help on how some of these laws apply to your situation.

If you get a larger refund or owe

more taxes than you expect when you file your tax return, you may need to change your tax withholding. You can complete and give your employer a new Form W-4, Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate.

Use the IRS Withholding Calculator tool to help you fill out a new form.

Some taxpayers are currently visiting a TAC as a result of having received a letter 5071C from the IRS to verify their identities. Taxpayers are encouraged to go through the identity verification process by accessing idverify.irs. gov. The website will ask a series of questions that only the legitimate taxpayer can answer. Because of the high-volume on the toll-free numbers, the IRS-sponsored website, idverify. irs.gov, is the safest, fastest option for taxpayers with web access.

The IRS offers multilingual services to taxpayers in more than 150 languages through bilingual employees or an Overthe-Phone Interpreter.

Most TACs operate on a first-come, first-served basis, but some TACs now require an appointment. Taxpayers should always check IRS.gov for days and hours of service as well as services offered at the location they plan to visit.

Thisis great news for the small businesses that has long suffered the downturn of the economy. Those Businesses that qualify for the program which are primarily independently owned and operated hotels/motels on US192 will be able to receive assistance by professionals.

“This can’t come at a better time” states the Owner of the Gator Motel Mohamed Elalfy.

I love being an advocate for the small businesses. I use to own the Sevilla Inn, a local small independent hotel that has gone through difficult times and was struggling when I received help from the Hotel Impossible TV show on Travel Channel.

I received this help and my hotel became a success, resulting in paying so much more bed taxes which helps the county overall. Imagine if others are guided and assisted like I was by professionals and results are the same. This would mean so much more Tourist Development (TDC) dollars which the county residence benefits from.

Many businesses are very interested in participating in the program and have begun to make their own improvements.

We on the US192 Redevelopment Authority Board of Osceola County understand the importance of growth and how a business plays a key role. A small business should get recognized for the improvements they are doing, because with these improvements they are investing in our corridor as well as in their businesses.

As we all move along and continue to grow this county we must remember that small businesses is what helped make this county what it is today. So continue to drive up and down our corridor and be part of helping to make Osceola County the number one destination to visit, play, eat, and stay.

We will be holding auditions for our upcoming Stage Left Series presenting Agnes Of God.

He was born at 24 weeks, weighing only 14 ounces – less than one pound– while a full-term pregnancy is 40 weeks. After six months of struggling in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), Connor came home on December 23, 2013; just in time to celebrate Christmas.

Last year, the Sorensen’s decided to start a March for Babies team, Connor’s Courage, to honor all babies born too soon. Connor will

be 22 months old at the time of the March for Babies walk in April. He is a very happy little boy who loves to cruise around the house, snuggle, laugh and play with his toys.

Los estudiantes y padres pueden prepararse mejor para las evaluaciones, asegurándose que los estudiantes asistan a clases todos los días. Exhortamos a los padres a mantenerse involucrados en la educación de sus hijos, trabajando con los maestros y revisando redes cibernéticas y recursos pertinentes.

Letter from the School Board Chairman The season of testing is upon our students and schools with the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA), FCAT/ FCAT 2.0, and End-of-Course (EOC) assessments. Students and parents can best prepare for the assessments by ensuring students are in class each and every day. Parents are encouraged to stay involved in their child’s education by working with teachers and reviewing relevant websites and resources. It is important for all of us - parents, teachers, and staff - to encourage students to try their best but to remember not to overemphasize the assessments and create stress, fear, or frustration.

Parents can also make certain that children get a good night of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive on time on the days of testing. We also encourage students to dress comfortably and appropriate for the weather while abiding to dress code policy.

With the new changes this year in the assessments, parents have inquired about how the district will use state assessment data in regard to student placement in academic courses and required intervention programs. For 2015-2016 placement in academic and intervention programs, students will be placed in grades/courses based on a review of a variety of individual student data points. The state assessment results are a data source we use for placement. Other data points include, but are not limited to, teacher-made or teacher-selected classroom assessments, student course grades, school-based instructional technology program results (e.g., Renaissance STAR), a review of 2014 FCAT scores (if available), and other relevant stateapproved assessment results. The state assessments that count toward a student’s grades are the EOC exams for Algebra I, Algebra II, Biology, Geometry, Civics, and U.S. History. It is a requirement that the aforementioned EOCs count for 30% of the student’s final grade.

Lo impresionante de la comida de la India es que sus hierbas, especies y picante se unen a una experiencia que no es irritante a tus labios ni al paladar, sino que atraviesa libremente y se manifiesta luego, en tu garganta y esófago, creando toda una virtual explosión de sabores que se funcionan, muy diferente a la Mejicana, China ó símilares.

I have an aunt who for years insisted on taking us to eat at an Indian Restaurant, and for a long time I refused to try these types of cultural and spicy foods for some reason I now do not understand, I was reluctant to take a chance on food that like many, I mistakenly perceived as full of spices , herbs and as very, very hot.

Father Arrested for Aggravated Child Abuse Hospital personnel told deputies the baby and Child Neglect Osceola County, FL - Osceola County Sheriff's detectives arrested Keath Kyle Smith and charged him with Aggravated Child Abuse and Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm. The investigation began on April 7 at approximately 3:29 p.m. when deputies responded to Florida Hospital located at 601 E. Rollins Street in Orlando. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with hospital personnel who indicated a 3-month old infant in critical condition was transported to their facility from Florida Hospital Kissimmee after testing positive for prescription drugs. The infant appeared malnourished and only weighed 7 lbs.

• The call doesn’t have to be over before help arrives. During emergency calls, call takers collect information and relay it to the telecommunicator dispatching the call. This occurs simultaneously.

• If you call 9-1-1 by mistake, do not hang up. It is quicker for the call taker to verify the call was accidental.

Hanging up requires the call taker to call the number back.

was taken to their facility in Kissimmee by his father, identified as Smith, who said he found the baby unresponsive at his home. The father left the hospital after finding out the Department of Children and Families and Sheriff's Office were investigating. Deputies located Smith at his residence, 2595 Old Dixie Highway in Kissimmee, but he refused to cooperate with the investigation. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and located materials consistent with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Smith was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail. The investigation is on-going with additional charges pending.

The infant is in critical but stable condition.

The American Psychological Association reports that onethird of Americans are living with extreme stress.

Money and work are the leading causes of stress for three quarters of Americans. Nearly half of all Americans report that stress has a negative impact on both their personal and professional lives.

We respond to stress with a “fight-or-flight” reaction. It’s our natural response to a perceived threat.

In the old days, that threat was something simple like a beast chasing us up a tree.

Now we have all kinds of “threats” that include caring for a sick loved one, getting stuck in traffic, dealing with a blankety-blank computer.

The stress response is complex. It also suppresses nonessential functions, controls mood, and increases the availability of substances that repair tissues. When the threat is removed, the body returns to a normal state.

Your health can be damaged by unrelenting stress.

Overexposure to stress hormones can lead to depression, heart disease, impaired memory, insomnia and obesity.

We can’t escape all stress, so we have to learn how to deal with it. Here are what I consider the best tips for handling stress:

Exercise: Exercise can decrease the production of stress hormones and elevate the level of endorphins, the brain’s neurotransmitters that make you feel good. Exercise can increase selfconfidence and lower the symptoms associated with mild depression and anxiety.

Meditation: Meditation can give you peace of mind. Focusing your attention is an important part of meditation because it liberates your mind from distractions that cause stress and worry.

It’s easy and you can do it whenever or wherever you want.

BASKETBALL Racha de victorias para el Orlando Magic Orlando, FL - Le tomó la mayor parte de la temporada, pero este equipo ha logrado finalmente obtener algunas victorias consecutivas en su historial.

Todo comenzó el pasado viernes en Minnesota ante los Timberwolves.

Los Timberwolves jugaron sin sus tres mejores hombres grandes y el Magic tomó completa ventaja superando en rebotes a Minnesota por 23 rebotes.

Nik Vucevic logró un récord personal esa noche con 37 puntos y 17 rebotes.

Tobias Harris también contribuyó con 25 puntos y 12 rebotes. El Magic terminó con 97 contra los 84 de Timberwolves.

El equipo viajó a Milwaukee para hacer frente a los Bucks. Esta victoria fue verdaderamente un esfuerzo de equipo ya que 4 de los 5 titulares terminaron anotando en los dos dígitos, así como Aaron Gordon y Willie Green desde el banquillo. Los Bucks tuvieron un comienzo caliente con ventaja de 9 al final del primer trimestre, pero Orlando no se dio por vencido. Orlando Magic winning streak Orlando, FL - It took the majority of the season, but this team has finally managed to get some consecutive wins on their record.

It all started last Friday in Minnesota against the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves were playing without their three best big men and the Magic took full advantage outrebounding Minnesota by 23 rebounds. Nik Vucevic had a career high night with 37 points and 17 rebounds. Tobias Harris also contributed with 25 points and 12 rebounds. The Magic finished with 97 to the Timberwolves 84.

The team traveled to Milwaukee to face the Bucks. This win was truly a team effort as 4 out of 5 starters finished with double digit scoring as well as Aaron Gordon and Willie Green off the bench. The Bucks got off to a hot start leading by 9 at the end of the first quarter but Orlando wasn’t giving up.

Orlando continued to narrow their loss before finally taking the lead in the fourth quarter. Interim Coach James Borrego got his first technical foul call of the season that seemed to fire the guys up. Orlando locked in on the defensive in and held on to the lead to take home another victory on the road. The 97 to 90 win was led by Harris who had 23 points and 10 assists. Vucevic added 20 points and Oladipo finished with 15.

Payton had another double double with 10 points and 11 assists.

The team came on to host the Chicago Bulls. It was the return of Derrick Rose to the court. The former MVP had missed 6 weeks after having knee surgery.

Returning to the lineup for Orlando was Evan Fournier who had been out with a sore right hip. Orlando struggled in the beginning and found themselves in a 15 point deficit but like they have attempted to do all season, they fought back. And in the final seconds of the fourth quarter, Orlando and Chicago were tied. A layup

by Victor Oladipo gave the Magic a 105 to 103 victory over Chicago. Oladipo led in scoring with 23 points. Vucevic added 22 but it was Elfrid Payton who had us all on triple double alert. The point guard finished with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.

Four games are left this season for the Magic including back to back home games tonight versus the Toronto Raptors and tomorrow versus the New York Knicks. It’s your last chance to see this team live in action. The Magic will play in Monday in Miami before finishing their season in Brooklyn next Wednesday against the Nets. I expect to see lots of changes this summer but not before these guys each have a few more games to prove they belong here and can win.

A tough one to swallow Orlando, FL - To watch Orlando City play as they did last Friday and not walk away with the win is as gut wrenching for us spectators as well as the organization. Orlando has continued to prove they are a team capable of greatness, but all good things take time. Last week against D.C. United, City dominated the field in front of almost 33,000 fans. Bill Hamid, D.C’s goalkeeper, made several impressive saves that kept the score board at zero.

Una trago amargo para el equipo Orlando, FL - Ver a Orlando City jugar como lo hicieron el viernes pasado y no salir con la victoria es tan desgarrador para nosotros, los espectadores, como para la organización. Orlando ha seguido demostrando que es un equipo capaz de grandes cosas, pero todas las cosas buenas toman tiempo. In the second half, Orlando came out looking to change the game and take the lead. Brek Shea and Kaka led Orlando and created countless opportunities but none were successful.

The most intense moment came in the 67th minute of play. D.C was on the

attack. Connor Doyle shot off an attempt that was knocked away by Donovan Ricketts (OC goalkeeper). The ball landed at the foot of D.C’s Chris Pontius who fired one in but it was Brek Shea who got his foot on it right at the goal line and played it back out. One more attempt from Doyle and it got knocked over the goal by Ricketts.

The intensity and will in win is so high in the Orlando City players that the loss was a tough one to swallow. In the 91st minute of play, Luis Silva finished on a free kick to take the victory for D.C. United. Orlando City will play away this Sunday against the Portland Timbers at 5pm. The next home game for the Lions is set for April 26th against Toronto FC.

15-year-old Cristal Guzman, from Kissimmee, Florida, of Dominican descent, performed “Flor Palida” (Marc Anthony). She suffered from a health condition that kept

her in a wheel chair for a year, and during that time, music became her refuge. Natalia, who praised Cristal’s great vocal command, took the tropical music singer to #TeamNatalia.

11-year-old Jonael Santiago, lives in Miami but is a proud Puerto Rican, performed “Tus Besos” (Juan Luis Guerra). Coach Natalia was happily surprised when he picked her as his Coach.
