Osceola County - Noticias / News Comisionada Janer organiza evento de orgullo comunitario en Buenaventura Lakes Condado Osceola, FL – Ocho compactadores solares llamados “Big Belly” se colocaron a través de toda la comunidad de Buenaventura Lakes en las paradas de autobuses de Lynx. Los compactadores fueron parte del evento de Orgullo Comunitario de la Comisionada Viviana Janer, del Distrito 2. Como parte del evento los voluntarios del club de Boys & Girls recogieron aproximadamente 50 libras de basura. "Es común para los residentes pedirme ayuda para embellecer la comunidad. Soluciones que envuelven y dan sentido de pertenencia en las comunidades son la mejor manera de alcanzar el éxito a largo plazo, dijo Janer. "Espero que eventos como este creen conciencia en la comunidad e inspiren a todos a ser parte y mantener limpios los espacios públicos".

Los compactadores de basura, “Big Belly”, como se le conocen en inglés por su gran espacio para colectar basura, están equipados con compresores de energía solar que condensan la basura, lo cual requiere menos viajes de servicio por un vehículo de combustible. Los compactadores incorporan tecnología que señala cuando el contenedor está lleno y está listo para recoger. Un solo compresor puede contener cerca de 180 galones de residuos, a pesar de que son del tamaño de un bote de basura de 35 galones estándar. Janer hosts community pride event in Buenaventura Lakes Osceola County, FL - Eight “Big Belly Solar Compactors” are in place at Lynx bus stops throughout the Buenaventura Lakes community. The compactors were part of Monday’s Community Pride event hosted by District 2 County Commissioner Viviana Janer. Volunteers from the Boys & Girls Club collected approximately 50 pounds of trash as part of the event. “It’s common for residents to ask me for help in beautifying the community. Solutions that involve them and give them ownership in their neighborhoods are the best way of achieving longterm success,” said Janer. “I hope that events like this raise awareness in the community and inspire everyone to pitch in and keep public spaces clean.”

The Big Belly trash cans are equipped with solar-powered compactors that condense litter placed in them -- requiring fewer trips to service them by fuel-consuming vehicles. The compactors incorporate technology that signals when the can is full and is ready for pickup. A single compactor can hold about 180 gallons of waste, even though they are the size of a standard 35-gallon trash can. Since placing the compactors at the bus stops there has been less litter in the vicinity, according to county staff. Signs to encourage the community to make an effort to prevent littering have been designed by staff and affixed to the compactors.

E-Pass - Noticias / News CFX lanza programa de intercambio de E-PASS con batería Orlando, FL - Con el fin de servir mejor a nuestros clientes con la última tecnología, la Autoridad de Autopistas de la Florida Central (CFX por sus siglas en inglés) está comenzando su programa de Intercambio de E-PASS. A partir de mediados de julio, a los clientes de E-PASS que tengan equipo operado con batería se les proporcionará un nuevo E-PASS libre de costo, que no requiere batería. CFX launches E-PASS Swap program Orlando, FL – In order to better serve our customers with the latest technology, the Central Florida Expressway Authority is beginning its E-PASS Swap program. Starting in mid-July, E-PASS customers with battery operated E-PASSes will be provided a new free E-PASS, that doesn’t require a battery. Customers who will need to swap their E-PASS will be contacted by email or postcard if they need to participate. They will be asked to select either an E-PASS Mini or an E-PASS Portable. Those customers who are not contacted, may keep their existing E-PASS. To provide the best possible customer service, notifications are being sent in groups. Battery operated E-PASSes will no longer work after December 31, 2015. To help customers with the transition, CFX has created EPASSswap.com, which will also launch in mid-July.

Orlando, FL - Last Thursday, June 25, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, City Commissioners and Police Chief John Mina celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Orlando Police Department Headquaters to be build on Orange Blossom Trail between South Street and Anderson Street.

Building on this commitment, the City is constructing a new police headquarters that will bring the Orlando Police Department even closer to our community. The new building has been designed to make our officers more accessible and the new location provides our residents with easier access to the department.

Historic Orlando Amtrak station provides an iconic welcome for rail travelers and commuters Orlando, Fl - Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan, Florida Department of Transportation, Orlando Health and Amtrak joined together on Monday, June 29 to celebrate the completion of the renovation of the historic Orlando Amtrak Station. Built in 1926, the Amtrak station continues to be a major transportation hub for the entire Central Florida

region, serving approximately 160,500 passengers a year. The renovation project not only restored and preserved the historic heritage of the building, but also improved accessibility to the station for residents and visitors and increased connectivity with the new SunRail stop located here, within walking distance of the Orlando Health campus and the Downtown South Main Street District.

Consulado de México / Mexican Consulate Nuevo Cónsul de México en Orlando Por Yolanda López Orlando, Fl - Tuvimos el gusto de platicar con el nuevo Cónsul de México en Orlando el Honorable Juan Sabines Guerrero, quien se hizo cargo del consulado de Orlando a partir del 1º de Julio de 2015. Pudimos notar el ánimo y la buena disposición que tiene al empezar esta nueva tarea que le otorgó el gobierno de México; en él vimos a un hombre muy cercano a las necesidades de la gente ya que él fue Gobernador del Estado de Chiapas en México, uno de los estados más pobres del país y con muchos problemas referentes a inmigración ya que es un estado cercano a la frontera sur de México. También nos comentó de

su deseo de trabajar activamente con los diferentes colegios y universidades del área para lograr intercambios y becas para estudiantes y maestros. El Cónsul Sabines antes de llegar aquí se desempeñó como Representante Estatal de Chiapas, Presidente Municipal y Gobernador del Estado de Chiapas. Estamos seguros que toda su experiencia en los diferentes puestos que ha ocupado en el Gobierno de México le serán muy útiles y le permitirán cumplir con sus objetivos. También nos mencionó que en el Consulado de México siempre tendrá las puertas abiertas para todo aquel que necesite hablar con él y que tratará en lo posible de estar pendiente para satisfacer las necesidades de los mexicanos residentes en la Florida Central.

New Mexican Consul in Orlando By Yolanda López Orlando, Fl - We had the pleasure of chatting with the new Mexican Consul to Orlando the Honorable Juan Sabines Guerrero who took office as of July 1. We were able to note the high spirits and positive attitude that he has as he begins this new task that was assigned to him by the Mexican Government. In him we see a man very in tune with the needs of the people as he was the Governor of the State of Chiapas in Mexico, one of the poorest states in Mexico and one laden with immigration problems at it is on the southern Mexican border. The Consul also spoke to us about his desire to work extensively

with colleges and universities with scholarships and exchange programs for both students and teachers. Before arriving here, Consul Sabines was the State Representative and Governor of Chiapas. We are positive that all the positions he has held in the Mexican Government will provide very useful experience in allowing him to accomplish his goals. He also mentioned that his doors are always open at the Mexican Consulate for anyone that needs to speak to him and he will strive to satisfy the needs of the Mexican Residents in Central Florida.

Salud / Health Florida Hospital de Kissimmee presenta su nueva torre Por Angel Irizarry Kissimmee, FL - El Florida Hospital de Kissimmee dio a conocer su nueva torre para paciente, que incluye una capilla, un jardín de curación, una nueva cafetería y habitaciones privadas para cada paciente. "Espero que los residentes de Kissimmee y del Condado Osceola verán esta hermosa nueva instalación como algo más que un hospital - como algo más que un lugar para venir sólo cuando usted está enfermo," dijo Jeff Villanueva, Director General del Florida Hospital de Kissimmee, "Yo espero que nuestros vecinos vean este hospital como lugar de reunión". La nueva torre cuenta con 80 camas, todas en habitaciones privadas, lo que marca la primera vez en que habitaciones privadas serán una opción para los pacientes en el Florida Hospital de Kissimmee. Las habitaciones privadas cuentan con una amplia área para las familiares, lo que permite a los miembros de la familia permanecer cómodamente con sus seres queridos. "Somos un entorno de atención centrado en la familia, incluyendo nuestra UCI, que es un centro de atención al paciente abierto 24/7," expresó Yamile Der, Jefe de Enfermeras. Además del gran cuidado que los pacientes reciben, las habitaciones privadas incluyen grandes comodidades para los miembros de la familia del paciente. La torre es parte de una expansión de varias fases del Florida Hospital de Kissimmee. La siguiente fase consiste en una amplia renovación del hospital existente. "Tenemos muchas características únicas en esta torre. Nos tomó 3 años diseñar y construir esta nueva instalación. Kissimmee, FL - The Florida Hospital Kissimmee gave a preview of its new patient tower, which includes a chapel, a healing garden, a new cafeteria, and private rooms for each patient.

“Once our patients move into our new tower, we will be remodeling our existing rooms so that they will be upgraded as well, they will be operated as private rooms.” Villanueva explained. Patients are schedule to move into the new tower on July 6. The completion of the tower caps 18 months of construction. The tower is part of a multi-phase expansion at Florida Hospital Kissimmee. The next phase involves the extensive renovation of the existing hospital.

“I hope that the residents of Kissimmee and Osceola County will see this beautiful new facility as more than a hospital – as more than a place to come only when you’re sick,” said Jeff Villanueva, CEO of Florida Hospital Kissimmee, “I hope our neighbors see this hospital as a gathering place.” The new tower includes 80 beds, all in private rooms, which marks the first time that private rooms will be an option for patients at Florida Hospital Kissimmee. The private rooms include a spacious family area, which allows family members to comfortably stay with their love ones. “We are a family centered care environment, including our ICU, which is a 24/7 open patient care center,” Yamile Der, Nurse Leader, expressed. In addition to the great care the patients receive, the private rooms include great commodities for the family members of the patient. The room includes a couch with a table in the middle that can be adjusted to meet a persons needs, as well as transformed into a bed if family members wish to stay overnight. “We want the families to be more involved in their families and loved ones care. We know that when families are involved with patients while they are in the hospital they do better. They heal

The facility is a 3 story tower, which actually has the capability – from a structural perspective – that we can add two additional floors to the tower so we can continue to grow and meet the healthcare needs of the community.” Villanueva expressed. The cafeteria is named Cocina 8 which has a Latin flare to it, which means a lot of items on the menu will have a Latin theme in order to meet the growing Latin needs in the community. Kissimmee Mayor Jim Swan noted that the hospital has been an important part of the community for more than four decades. “This larger, modernized hospital – located in the same place that it’s stood since 1973 – is a great fit for our growing city and county,” Swan said. Local News Presupuesto de KUA marca 11º año consecutivo sin aumento en tarifa base Kissimmee, FL - La junta de directores de Kissimmee Utility Authority aprobó un presupuesto operativo y de capital de $225.8 millones para el año fiscal 2016. La votación se produjo después de un taller y audiencia pública sobre el presupuesto. El presupuesto aprobado aumentó en un 1.5 por ciento respecto al presupuesto del 2015 y marca el 11vo año consecutivo de la utilidad sin aumento de la tarifa base. Sheriff & Police - Noticias / News Sospechoso arrestado por incidente en la carretera el coche de la víctima. Cuando Condado Osceola - El 7 de julio, aproximadamente a la 1:00 p.m., los agentes del Sheriff del Condado Osceola respondieron a la zona de Poinciana Boulevard y Crescent Lakes Way en Kissimmee. A su llegada, los agentes hablaron con el denunciante quien indicó que viajaba hacia el sur en Poinciana Boulevard, cuando un conductor, identificado posteriormente como Edmundo Martínez, intentó rebasar su vehículo. Suspect arrested in road rage incident Osceola County - On July 7 at approximately 1:00 p.m., Osceola County Sheriff's deputies responded to the area of Poinciana Boulevard and Crescent Lakes Way in Kissimmee. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant who indicated he was traveling southbound on Poinciana Boulevard when a driver, later identified as Edmundo Martinez, attempted to pass his vehicle. When the victim did not allow Martinez to pass him, Martinez fired a shot towards the victim's car. The victim pulled over and allowed Martinez

to pass him and then began following his vehicle. The victim followed Martinez until deputies were able to pull over Martinez's car a few miles away. When deputies spoke with Martinez he told them he attempted to pass the victim's car. When the victim refused to move over, he fired a warning shot into the air. A witness with the victim confirmed the incident. Based on Martinez's statement, he was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail with a $4,000 bond.

Kissimmee Police looking for suspect involved in a Battery Kissimmee, FL - Kissimmee police have obtained an arrest warrant for Parris Ricardo Brown Jr. for his involvement in a battery. On July 8, 2015 at approximately 2:45 p.m. officers met with the female victim who stated her exboyfriend, Parris Ricardo Brown Jr., struck her in the mouth with a closed fist. Parris then held her inside of her home against her will for over three hours. While inside the home, Parris maliciously began to damage her belongs. Officers have obtained an arrest warrant charging Parris Ricardo Brown Jr. with Battery, False Imprisonment and Criminal Mischief. The warrant holds a no bond status. Orlando sube al segundo lugar de la Conferencia Orlando, FL - Orlando City puede poner atrás una de sus más duras semanas. Los Leones enfrentaron el Real Salt Lake el pasado cuatro de julio y fueron capaces de empatar. Orlando jugó sin Cyle Larin y Darwin Cerén, que están jugando en la Copa Oro de la CONCACAF, Bryan Rochez todavía con Honduras y Brek Shea está todavía fuera por una lesión. El partido comenzó con una nota alta para Orlando, que se puso adelante a sólo cinco minutos del juego.
