Council Activity Reporting Deadline: April 15!!! NOTE: The Council Activity Reporting module on the State website will no longer be accessible after 11:59 pm, April 15! Council Officers and members will not be able to submit any additional reports there. So, make sure your Council gets all your reports submitted by then to receive credit for all your great activities this year. Of course, Councils still have until the end of June to complete requirements for the Star Council Award, including submission of the Columbian Award Application, Form SP-7, to Supreme. And always remember that recruiting new members takes a year-round effort and your Council’s programs and activities make the difference in recruiting. Always remember that in planning and conducting your programs, “If you build it, they will come!”

Council

Tim Mangan, State Council Director Brother Knights, you guys did a great job in selecting both your knights and ladies of the year. I have been pushing the Lady of the Year for the past couple of months and you did not disappoint! I appreciate ALL your hard work and efforts with these write ups! Again, you did a great job with these write ups and now I have the difficult task of selecting the winners! So, for that I say Thank You! Now, by the time you read this, it will already be April! You have until April 15th to get the rest of your council activities reported. Grand Knights, check you your program directors and make sure they have reported their activities. Find out what has been reported and what needs to be reported. Make sure activities that still need to be reported are reported by the April 15th deadline. Remember, no late reports will be accepted this year! April 15th is it!

deadline for this form is due to Supreme by June 30th, but if you want to max out your council program activities and the state council general program, then you must submit this form to me by April 15th. I will need to see a copy of the completed form. You can upload it when filling out the online submission report form on the state website or you can email it to me at tim@tdltool.com . One council mailed the form to me and that’s okay too. Just make sure to report it online if you do mail me a copy of your form. However, you choose to do it, make sure it’s done by April 15th! Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Also, if you would like to nominate to me your best council program activity, you still have time to do so. Your deadline to nominate your best council program activity is, you guessed it, April 15th! I have had a few councils do this already and there is still time for you to do the same. But hurry, April 15th will be here soon!

Culture of Life

The ultrasound images help a woman see that she is carrying a child, not just a clump of cells. This is why we have the Ultrasound Machine Initiative to place these machines in pregnancy centers.

Brett Gissel, State Culture of Life Director States are enacting laws going in different directions on the legalization of abortion. Some states are enacting “heartbeat” laws that would significantly reduce abortions and other states are going so far as allowing third trimester abortions and also leaving open the possibility of child that survives an abortion being left to die with no consequences to anyone else. Ending legalized abortion may be a never -ending battle. What we can do is win over hearts to make abortion unthinkable. There is joy in life, all life. The goal is not just ending abortion, but changing our culture to see the joy in and beauty of all life. Why do we do some of these activities to build a Culture Of Life? In the Novena For Life, we do what many people of faith do, pray. Our prayers are not just for life, but for changing the hearts of everyone. An ultrasound is often the first time a woman sees the child she is carrying.

Youth

Strwart Vetter, State Youth Director Thank you to all the councils that hosted a free throw contest, the district deputies for narrowing the field with district contests, the diocesan district deputy coordinators for diligently conducting the regional free throw contests and sending me the winners in a timely manner, the Brothers from Columbus for volunteering during the State Free Throw Championship, and Gary Eckstein for coordinating the trophies and shirts.

These are just some of the Culture Of Life activities that we do. Regardless of the activity, if our actions are a genuine reflection of our faith, our joy of life will be seen. Save Our Seminarians

Ed Olenhouse, State SOS Director Brothers The ‘SOS’ or “Support Our Seminarians” program was started about 13 years ago. It has replaced the ‘Pennies For Heaven’ or ‘P4H’ program. Designed to allow parishioners to participate. Sort of get everyone involved.

He distributes accordingly. As your council collects, send the proceeds to the immediate past state deputy. Many councils do these collections 3 or 4 times each year. When you think of the old ‘P4H’ program, the ‘SOS’ funds have been exceeded by more than 5 times. These young men need our parishioners support. They are our next parish priests. Any questions? Call me: 614 -777-4244

Meet with your Pastor and ask him to support your efforts. Ed Olenhouse Promote via the church eehouse@yahoo.com bulletin and a little promo from the podium.

Save Our Seminarians

Please make note of the following as not to have confusion in regards to annual totals and awards presented at the State Convention.

The support of our Seminarians as a Knight of Columbus is a great way to promote religious vocations within you home diocese. Your donation along with many others will stay at home and be used in your own diocese. The sum total of all these donations when presented will give your Diocesan Vocations Director the necessary funding to allow him to develop programming that will attract young men to a religious life.

I will be making my final deposit for the 2018 – 2019 S.O.S. Program on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, the end of the State Council Fiscal Year. All donations must be received by me so I may deposit them before the close of business on April 30, 2019 for consideration in programming awards.

Robert Collins, Jr, IPSD

A form with mailing details to accompany tour council’s donation may be found on the State Website. God Bless and thank you for all you do in the support and the promotion of religious vocations.

The program supports these young men with ‘out of classroom expenses’. Gasoline, tires, car repairs, misc. on-line programs, dentist and doctor appts. An occasional meal out or a movie. The list goes on.

Bob Collins Imm Past State Deputy

Your vocational director will be given a check in July each year of the total $$$ collected in your diocese.

Community

Robert Walsh State Community Director With the program part of the year almost over, you should be reviewing your Councils programs to see if you have maxed them out. For the Community Program do you have the three Council Choice activities, and the two Mandatory write up’s for The Volunteer or Blue Coat, and the second one is the Super Cash Bonanza Charity ticket sales. BE SURE THAT ALL OF THESE ARE REPORTED ON THE STATE WEB SITE, to get credit. After the above is done then turn your attention to the SP-7 form for Supreme. Make sure

that you meet all the requirements for it. Remember that there is a mandatory program HELPING HANDS. This program is required for the Columbian Award. With all the hard work your Council does why not submit these activities and earn the awards for the Council. It can motivate everyone to help out more and help bring in new members by showing them that you are active in the Community. Please continue to assist everyone throughout the next few months even though the program year is almost over. Thank you for what you do for In His Honor.

A Message from Charity Father

Mark Siracusa, State Treasurer “ DON’T forget the first turn-in for the Super Cash Bonanza is April 15. “ Get your tickets sent to the address below. Remember the more you sell, the more your council will get money back for charity.
