CHARITY, UNITY AND FRATERNITY The Order was formed as a fraternal benefit society, but Father McGivney and the men he gathered saw a “higher calling,” that was expressed in the Order’s three main principles of charity, unity and fraternity. Father McGivney saw them as three legs of a stool, each one dependent on the other, and each one critical to helping the Catholic men of Connecticut keep the faith while supporting also their personal, civic and social needs. Charity — The greatest of all virtues is charity or love, writes St. Paul. But the modern mind has distorted these words; charity is more than giving to the needy, and love is more than romance. What these words really mean is this — to will the good of the other person for his or her own sake, even if that means suffering for me. This is the charity, the love, that Jesus had for us on the cross, and we are to approach every person with this same love and charity. Jesus gave us a new commandment: “Love one another, as I have loved you” (Jn 13:34). This new love in Christ inspires Knights to reach out through a myriad of organized programs to help those in need next door, across town, across the country and around the world
Unity — None of us is as good alone as all of us are together. United in the Catholic faith, Knights support one another in times of joy and grief and at every moment in between. They form a
Fraternity — Networks of Knights provide men with something that is too often lacking in today’s fragmented society — authentic fraternal fellowship lived out in councils, parishes, online, and in common faith and worthy projects. Working together, we know the truth of the biblical statement: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” (Prov 27:17). Early in the Order’s history, Knights were told to exemplify “the Golden Rule, which is the essence of Fraternity.” Father McGivney’s vision for his Knights has made a difference in millions of lives and brought hope and healing to countless others. More than 130 years after his death, network of men and their families his vision remains our mission. dedicated to building their homes as domestic churches of faith and love, and they work in union with priests to support parishes in the mission of faith
God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Blessed Michael McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue, may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify Blessed Michael McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen
formation and evangelization. In the words of one of Father McGivney’s contemporaries: “Unity of purpose, unity of action and unity of faith complete a trinity which makes the Knights of Columbus a mighty agent for good, an upholder of order, a protective force in society.”

STATE OFFICER REPORT “for
this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate. “ - Luke 15:24
Things like: 1. Form 10784 Submitted for Programs by April 15 2. Membership Plan through June 3. Election of Council Officers 4. Submit Form SP7 to Supreme and State
There is always a lot to do but it seems like there is a rush and uneasiness. God is our guide and Luke shares another parable to show will always be there to help us out. But it is up to us to ask. that God’s love follows us through triumph, failure, and challenge. In
the parable, a man has two sons. The younger son asks his father to give him all of his inheritance so that he may use it as he pleases. The older son, remains home to care for his father. We have all heard this parable at Mass. Just as the father in this parable, God is always there for his children. He is our guide and trusted advocate and nothing can change that.
At the NEOCMF Conference on April 2, Father Nathan Cromly and Kevin Reilly stressed that the only thing that stands between you and your problems is you. How you decide to handle them helps to define the person that you are. It was a great conference and it was good to see the Knights out there in force.
Brothers, as we enter the final quarter of the 2021-2022 fraternal year, you and your councils should be going through your checklists and making sure everything is in order. As you close out this fraternal year,
look at the list of things you and your councils have to do—not as problems—but as opportunities. These are opportunities to move forward and start planning for the 2022-2023 fraternal year. The state convention is coming up and you can see the information later on this newsletter. However, it is Cleveland’s turn and we will be attending Kalahari for the last time. I still recall the first time a Kalahari and the excitement that surrounded that event. Let us hope that we will have that same spirit in 2025 when we return to downtown Cleveland. The state ladies are asking for councils help in putting a Diocesan raffle basket together. If your council can donate something small that would be great. It will be a Cleveland Basket and Kathy would love to show off all that we have here in this great diocese. Finally, there were three state winners from Cleveland at the state free throw. Congratulations and look forward to next year! Vivat Jesus!

STATE CONVENTION May 13-15, 2022 @ Kalahari Sandusky On behalf of the State Officers, the Cleveland Convention Committee welcomes you to this year’s convention. We will be focusing on the future of the Ohio Knights, on building the Domestic Church, on enhancing the development of our Councils, putting our Faith Into Action and on the growth of our Brother Knights. The Convention will provide opportunities for fraternal bonding, leadership development and program building. The best councils, individual Knights, and fellow Catholics will be recognized for their achievements. For details concerning the state convention weekend and doings, visit our webpage on the state website at www.kofcohio.org under ACTIVITIES > State Convention (Click HERE).
REGISTRATION CLOSES ON APRIL 29, 2022 AT 11:50 PM. PRE-REGISTRATION ONLY. THERE WILL BE NO REGISTRATION AVAILABLE AT THE CONVENTION! Donations for Diocesan Raffle Basket Brothers, In the past during non-election years, each state officer would host a hospitality room. These rooms would allow for fellowship and consumption of food and beverages. These rooms were traditionally in the family area of Kalahari. The hospitality room activities were not always conducive to the guests of Kalahari. With the recent changes with respect to COVID, changes with our hospitality room standards are required. There are two changes for the coming state convention. First, instead of having individual diocesan hospitality rooms, the state officers have banded together to host the Friday Night Block Party and After Banquet Social on Saturday. This way, we can all be together, in the convention center, for fellowship, food and fun while respecting the guests of Kalahari. Second, each of the state officer’s ladies are assembling diocesan baskets to be raffle off. These baskets will contain items that are unique and special to our diocese. The proceeds from the baskets will be used to support the charities within each of the state lady’s diocese that they choose. Finally, this will help with an ad for the program book showing off all of the great things we are doing the diocese. If you and/or your council are able, please send your donation to me at 4927 Autumnwood Ln, Brunswick, OH 44212. Please make checks payable to Jim Maslach by May 1, 2022. We sincerely thank you for your help in making the state convention an inviting and fun occasion and look forward to seeing you at the convention.

AM1260 Spirit Week Coming Soon! April 27-29, 2022
AM1260 The Rock’s Spring Spirit Drive begins Wednesday, April 27th and runs through Friday, April 29th. During this drive, we will focus on some of the beautiful ways the Church helps us to be ready spiritually as we “Put on the Full Armor of God.”
On Sunday, March 27 at St. Eugene’s Parish, a small group of men gathered together to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the council. Father Pete Colletti officiated and gave praise to the men and the work they do for both St. Joseph’s and St. Eugene’s. State Advocate Jim Maslach and DMD Mike Incorvati were in attendance. A Proclamation from Supreme was read by State Advocate and given to Grand Knight Mike Rauh. Afterward, the council was having a free pancake breakfast with the purchase of $5 Super Cash Bonanza ticket. Sales, and the pancakes, were outstanding!
The Knights of Columbus have a history of supporting EWTN and its radio affiliates. So we are asking your Council build on that history by joining in our Spring Spirit Drive. We are asking each Council to prayerfully consider contributing an upfront donation of $100 before the Spirit Drive, unless your Council is already a Business Member. We will mention your Council as a supporter of AM1260 The Rock on the air in the 5:00 pm hour on April 27 th and use your donation as a challenge to encourage others to donate to The Rock during that hour. Please mail your check to the address listed below. We also ask you to encourage your members to call in, identify themselves and members of your council, and make personal donations to The Rock during that hour or anytime time during the Spirit drive. Thank you for your consideration and we pray that you will join The Rock family in evangelizing the Cleveland area, enabling us all to Put on the Full Armor of God. Also, please encourage your members to listen to AM 1260 The Rock. May God bless you and may He prosper the work of our hands.
