A New Fraternal Year, New Beginnings, and Old Friends!
The State Team is..
One of my all time favorite events is the State Tour. It was the first non council event I went to and enjoyed everything from the information to the skits. I even got a Bator Bucks hat!
Well we may not present Skits any more but the State Tour does offer a lot of information and an opportunity to ask some questions.
I am pleased to announce that the Cincinnati Archdiocese tour stop returns to Dayton 500’s Bainbridge Hall on Saturday, July 16th, 2022. The doors will open at 12:00 Noon and yes, a lunch will be provided! The presentation will then begin promptly at 13:00 (1:00 PM). It will conclude by 15:00 because this is an abbreviated tour year.
Look forward to receiving updates on Supreme programs, our State Program by Andrew Nuckols; How Do We Reach Star featuring PSD Ken Girt; all new membership incentives by Michael Freil; and of course state officer specific program reports.
As is tradition, I will be presenting our Support Our Seminarians check to Archdiocese Vocations Director Father Dan Schmitmeyer. Andrew Nuckols will be presenting a few awards from last fraternal year, and I will be giving out Super Cash Bonanza rebate checks to the TOP FIVE COUNCILS in the Archdiocese!
I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone again and I promise that it will be worth your time to attend. Grand Knights, Deputy Grand Knights,
Program Directors and all council leaders are encouraged to attend.
State Per Capita & Football
Did you know that Ohio has one of the lowest Per Capita rates in the entire Order?
Around the time of publishing this edition the State Per Capita bills will be going out into the mail. Our per capita is one of the lowest in our Order precisely because of our annual Football Sweeps Ticket sales.
The beauty of the Football Sweeps program is not only a council able to earn income from the sale of the tickets to be used for any need, but by hitting goals at both the council and state levels you’ll receive rebates which are directly applied to your next year’s state per capita. With enough sales councils could literally pay no per capita.
PSD Gary Eckstein will be on hand to hand out tickets and review the program at the upcoming Archdiocese State Tour stop in Dayton.
This is a big issue for The Arch and you’ll find articles on program updates, growth in our order, life, benefits, the annual Fatima USA Mass, and the all too handy last page of program chairman/ directors contact information.
We’re heading down the runway and this plane is about to take off for FY 2022-23!

Maybe have a Family Movie Night & Prayers or Crafts & Prayers, a great way to get families together at your parish.

Please be ready for Dobs vs. Jackson ruling from Supreme Court. Councils are encouraged to host and organize a Novena for Life, Holy Hours and Rosaries. Councils should reach out to their parishes and nearby pregnancy centers to see how the Council can help following the final SCOTUS ruling.
COMMUNITY
Did your council participate in "Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest last year? If not the essay topic for next fraternal year will be: "Explain how young Catholics can evangelize our faith to families and friends who have turned away from religion and encourage them to return to the Church and embrace the sacraments?" Another great summer community activity is Habitat for Humanity more information at www.kofc.org/habitat or find a local Habitat at https://www.habitat.org/
Now is also good time for Councils to hold their review of 2021-22 fraternal year. What program activities worked this past year? What programs could be improved upon? Work with the new officers coming in, to have a smooth transition into the new 2022-23 fraternal year. Please note both the Report of Officers (Form #185) and Service Program Personnel Report (Form #365) are both due June 30th this year. Please use Member Management portal of Officers Online, these can be done anytime during the month of June, This method immediately updates the Supreme Council system at the start of the new fraternal year with the name and contact information for all officers and directors of your council.

Brother Knights in The Great State of Ohio.
We are now in the 1sth Quarter of the NEW Fraternal Year. As of JUNE 30, 2022 the State is standing at about 83%% of our Goal of 1744 New Members. We needed 300 new members to meet our Circle of Honor Goal Unfortunately, we fell short of our Goal. We brought in 1,427 New Members since last July 1.
GROWTH is very important to each and every Council. We must continue to grow our Councils and our Order every year. Inviting a New Member into the Order is one of the most important and noteworthy accomplishments that any Knight can achieve. New Members keep our Councils vibrant and ensure our success in the years ahead.
If you are tired of recruiting, try to INVITE a Catholic man to join your Council, just as you would if you invited him into your home. Explain to him the benefits of being a Knight, in that it will make him a better Catholic, a better father and a better husband. Try concentrating your efforts with the Young Fathers you see in your Parish with children. That my Brothers is the New Wave of the future to come.
The JULY Membership Incentive is The First 12 Proposers that bring in 2 New Members into their Council will be picked to receive an Ohio State Council “Fast Starter” Challenge Coin. We want to start the New Fraternal Year Off FAST !!
Additionally for the 1st Quarter. Supreme Council is awarding $7.00 for each new member brought into our Order.
In order to claim the membership incentives email to mcfreil2019@gmail.com the name(s) of the new member as soon as possible The new member must also have taken his exemplification of C U F.
Keep Asking Men in your Parishes to Join our Order. If You Don’t Ask them to Join… they will not.

For those who do not know, or need to be reminded, every Saturday morning there is a three pronged activity which I call the Rosary Walk. It starts with Mass at 8:00 am at Holy Name Church, after which the attendees process down Auburn Ave praying the Rosary, stop in front of the Planned Parenthood Abortuary, continue praying, then process back to Holy Name Church, for Benediction. We pray three mysteries of the Rosary: Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious. The services are usually over by 9:45 am.
If you have never been to this activity, there are approximately 30-40 or so regular attendees, so there is always a decent crowd, and over the past several years during which I have attended, there has never been a serious altercation. The worst I have seen is someone driving by shouting at us. Regardless, if you have not participated in a pro life activity recently, this is a good way to show your support for pro life, especially given the decision by the Supreme Court. I don't need to lecture anyone on the importance of standing up for life's most innocent. Let's show that we will not be swayed by threats of violence.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Parking is at Hoy Name Church, which is located at 2422 Auburn Ave.

Mothers and Children First
ASAP, a new K of C pro-life initiative, encourages councils to step up support for young moms and children in need
Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly has announced the launch of a new Knights of Columbus campaign that greatly expands the organization’s already robust support for pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes to assist mothers and children. The new Aid and Support After Pregnancy (ASAP) initiative is a call to action for Knights across the United States and Canada to increase financial support to pregnancy resource centers, maternity homes and other organizations which give direct assistance to new mothers and/or babies.
[The ASAP] Initiative will partner with Knights councils to enhance local support for pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes
The goal is for the Knights — through gifts from councils, as well as direct gifts from the Supreme Council — to donate at least $5 million through the fraternal year ending June 30, 2023. The Knights’ ASAP initiative will enhance the significant resources the Knights and local councils already provide to mothers and their children, both born and unborn.
Through the program, launching July 1, the Supreme Council will give an additional $100 for every $500 a council donates to a pregnancy resource center or a maternity home.
“In a post-Roe world, we need to be there for mothers and children. They will need our help more than ever.”

The Mother of God appeared to three shepherd children saying:
"Sacrifice yourselves for sinners and say many times, especially when you make a sacrifice, 'O Jesus, this is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.’"
Fatima USA is an annual outdoor mass, honoring Fatima, that takes place every year at the Spiritual Center in Maria Stein.

Fraternal Benefits
Welcome to the middle of summer! July means most are in full summer vacation mode. Kids are out of school (And parents are already counting down the days till they return!) and family vacations are planned or maybe already taken. For many it’s the time to get outdoors and enjoy some good weather. The temperature, much like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, for some will be too hot, for some too cool and for others…just right.
I hope you get to spend some quality time with your family as the summer moves on. A shady spot in the yard or on the porch may be all you want or need. You might just get away all by yourself for some quality rest and relaxation. For some that might mean the family road trip, kids and parents driving to that favorite vacation spot. For some that are older it might mean the trip to see the grandkids. Whatever it is that recharges your battery and strengthens the family bonds, I hope you get to do it
Speaking of driving, it isn’t prudent to drive without proper auto insurance. Anyone who does could be in a bad spot should the unexpected happen. The same is true for the insurance coverages that the Order has available. The Knights of Columbus has the products to protect you and your family as you drive down the road of life
We appreciate the opportunity to meet with brother Knights and their spouses and continue the tradition of protection that Blessed Michael McGivney envisioned. Although we’ve met with many members of the councils, our goal is meet with each of you so you can take advantage of the free service we provide. The financial needs analysis tool that the Order has provided will take a snapshot of where you stand today, what your goals and objectives are, and help identify any gaps in your coverage
Let’s get together. We’ll give you a call soon. This drive through life has many unexpected sharp turns, speed bumps and blind spots!
Vivat Jesus!

My heart goes out to all women who’ve had an abortion, and risk having PTSD triggered by current events. Please know that God loves you, no matter what. There is no sin too grave for God to forgive. He can forgive anyone of anything because He created you, and He loves you. The Church is here for you to help you find healing and grace. May God bless you.
