2022 State Convention

For those of you who were able to attend the 2022 Ohio State Council State Convention wasn’t it great to be back together “Live” again brother Knights! After three years our world is almost getting back to normal as we come to the end of this fraternal year

Hats off to the members of the Cleveland convention team for all the hard work putting together and running a great convention. And a shout out to Andrew Nuckols, State Program Director and his team for all their work on this year’s awards. Look forward to some tweaks to the state program for the next fraternal which you can find out about during the July 16th State Tour stop at Dayton 500 month - Save the Date!

More Congratulations…

…this time to our Cincinnati Archdiocese District Deputy Coordinator Tim Mangan. Tim was awarded the District Deputy Coordinator of the Year in Ohio at the state convention. The award was announced by State District Deputy Director Jim Collins and presented to Tim by State Deputy Mark Siracusa during the State Deputy Banquet on Saturday evening.

Super Cash Bonanza

10:00 AM. You can watch the video by visiting the state council’s YouTube channel

Silver Rose Ohio Tour

Dates are filling up for the return of the Silver Rose in the archdiocese during the month of June/July. It will arrive from the Commonwealth of Kentucky on Sunday, June 26 and work it’s way north in the Arch for four days: June 27 - June 30. After that it heads to the Toledo Diocese on Friday, July 1 (Canada Day). CONTACT your District Deputy ASAP if you wish to host the Silver Rose and he will coordinate with our DDDC, State Director, and State Warden Chris Sarka.

The 2022 Super Cash Bonanza drawing was a HUGE success this year and I want to thank all of the great councils in the Archdiocese (and really around the state) who sold a record number of tickets this spring. Unofficially we may not have hit the one million dollars but we ended up at over $978,000 in sales. And don’t worry, the Charity Brothers will return in 2023 with a new video to kick off next year’s campaign. Aside from some unexpected technical issues we were able to stream the drawing on Saturday morning starting around

End of Year Wrap

The end of the fraternal year is coming and this is the time to get your SP-7 submitted. Check out Andrew Nuckols article on page 2 of this issue for more information.

There is still plenty of time to recruit new members (really there’s always time). Supreme has a Young Fathers - New Membership Toolkit which is a great resource. You can access it from this PDF by clicking on the link below (which unfortunately is too long to completely list on this page):

Download Toolkit

And make sure to read State Membership Director Michael Freil’s membership article on page 3.

Finally, check out the last Fraternal Benefits webinar of this fraternal year on page four, and an invitation to participate in the Blessed Father McGivney’s Way Novena and Walk hosted by Cardinal Bernardin Council 12359 in Anderson Township in August.

Programs

Now is the time to make sure you are wrapping of the 2021-22 Fraternal Year, please make sure to submit Columbia Award (#SP-7 ) application due 6/30, please submit now and not wait until end of June. If you forgot what you entered on the Fraternal Program Report (form #10784) this past fraternal year, you can use OSC Council Summary page at https://kofc-ohio.web.app/councilsummary as a reminder.

FAITH

If your council participated in Refund Support Vocations Program (RSVP) that Refund Application (Form #2863) is due June 30th for the 2021-22 fraternal year to receive refund check from Supreme. Launching on June 19, 2022 (Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ - Corpus Christi) will be Eucharistic Revival at the Diocese level, Supreme came out with Eucharistic Procession Guidebook (Form #11348) or more information found at kofc.org/eucharist

FAMILY

Did your council participate in Food for Families? If so the Food for Families Refund Application (Form #10057) is due June 30th for the 2021-22 fraternal year to receive refund check from Supreme. Now is time to start planning for Family Prayer Night www.kofc.org/prayernight for the new fraternal year. Maybe have a Family Movie Night & Prayers or Crafts & Prayers, a great way to get families together at your parish.

LIFE

Please be ready for Dobs vs. Jackson ruling from Supreme Court. Councils are encouraged to host and organize a Novena for Life, Holy Hours and Rosaries. Councils should reach out to their parishes and nearby pregnancy centers to see how the Council can help following the final SCOTUS ruling.

COMMUNITY

Did your council participate in "Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest last year? If not the essay topic for next fraternal year will be: "Explain how young Catholics can evangelize our faith to families and friends who have turned away from religion and encourage them to return to the Church and embrace the sacraments?" Another great summer community activity is Habitat for Humanity more information at www.kofc.org/habitat or find a local Habitat at https://www.habitat.org/

Now is also good time for Councils to hold their review of 2021-22 fraternal year. What program activities worked this past year? What programs could be improved upon? Work with the new officers coming in, to have a smooth transition into the new 2022-23 fraternal year. Please note both the Report of Officers (Form #185) and Service Program Personnel Report (Form #365) are both due June 30th this year. Please use Member Management portal of Officers Online, these can be done anytime during the month of June, This method immediately updates the Supreme Council system at the start of the new fraternal year with the name and contact information for all officers and directors of your council.

Lord, I am Your Servant

State Membership Director

Brother Knights in The Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

We are now in the 4th Quarter of the Fraternal Year. Thirty days to go to increase membership in our State. As of JUNE 1, 2022 the State is standing at about 74%% of our Goal of 1744 New Members. We need 425 new members to meet our goal.

GROWTH is very important to each and every Council. We must continue to grow our Councils and our Order every year. Inviting a New Member into the Order is one of the most important and noteworthy accomplishments that any Knight can achieve. New Members keep our Councils vibrant and ensure our success in the years ahead.

If you are tired of recruiting, try to INVITE a Catholic man to join your Council, just as you would if you invited him into your home. Explain to him the benefits of being a Knight, in that it will make him a better Catholic, a better father and a better husband. Try concentrating your efforts with the Young Fathers you see in your Parish with children. That my Brothers is the New Wave of the future to come.

The JUNE Membership Incentive is The First 12 Proposers that report A New Members that is either a FATHER, Grad, a Priest, a Deacon or Brother will receive a check for $50.00

In order to claim the membership incentives email to mcfreil2019@gmail.com the name(s) of the new member as soon as possible The new member must also have taken his exemplification of C U F.

Keep Asking Men in your Parishes to Join our Order. If You Don’t Ask them to Join… they will not.

Additionally, McGivney 2020 is still valid for free membership until 6/30/22
