Creative Courage – Beacons of Light members which means more hands to help. A Round Table could possibly even lead to the establishment of a new council. Any vibrant council helps make a church/parish vibrant Finally, the Archbishop asked the Knights to “Read all the information about the Beacons of Light pastoral planning process and Be Positive”. I believe this is where we can employ that Creative Courage of Saint Joseph Vivat Jesus
So where do we as Knights and our councils t into this plan. First of all, we are called the strong right arm of the church because a major part of our mission is to serve our parish priests. Let’s face it, they need us now more than ever to assist them with a “Family” which could be 3-4 times larger a community than they had before

Becoming a Family of parishes also affords us, as Knights, an opportunity to grow. In many instances families will include parishes who may not have a council. Maybe they are too small. But now as part of our Family we really need to start Round Tables at our sister parishes (starting and maintaining a Round Table is extremely easy and only requires two forms to be lled out each year). I’ll bet Father would appreciate it and the council may pick up new
IT’S HERE: Our Annual Membership
The number one question as the diocesan State of cer I have heard is: “Does this mean we will have to ‘merge’ councils?” My response is the same, no you don’t have to merge councils. But councils can work independently and together. As an example, I come from a small family and grew up on the east side of my county. My mother’s family lived on the west side. We were one family who celebrated together, but still maintained our separate lives as well. In the words of District Deputy Michael Vondenhuevel, there is “no reason councils can’t work together and help each other out.” Michael even encourages it during his council visits

Since out last issue of The Arch, Beacons of Light has “dropped” There has been a lot of anticipation on how it would not only affect our parishes but also our Councils. We know that the underlying reason for such a huge undertaking of reorganizing our diocese is a resource shortage - namely a shortage of priests. When I met with Archbishop Schnurr in early September he told me that the goal of these changes was to “NOT close parishes” (my emphasis). Other dioceses had made the drastic decision to do the opposite which resulted in much upheaval and consternation, it was not good
