Growth

Brothers of the Archdiocese:

We are now going into our 3rd Month of the Fraternal Year 2021-2022. The State of Ohio overall has had a pretty good rst two months. For the rst 5 weeks, the State was #1 of Division 1 in the Order. Recently, Texas just edged us out. Texas has 13.32% of their goal and Ohio has 13.08%. As of 8/31/2021, Ohio has brought in 242 New Members, the Archdiocese has brought in 32 new members. However, that is about to change. I have been working with the State Membership Team Members, and we will have a New Hispanic Council in Spring eld by the end of the week hopefully. This should give the Archdiocese a little needed boost.

Important things to remember for Membership in Fraternal year 2021-2022 NO SUSPENSIONS or WITHDRAWALS will be allowed after OCTOBER 01, 2021

Each Council must have a Retention Committee listed on their Form 185, or no suspensions or withdrawals will happen.

McGivney 2020 is still in e ect until December 31, 2021, which means free membership for 1 year for your new member candidate

Each of your new membership candidates should register as a new member via the online kofc.org/ join me tab. It takes only 35-45 seconds to join via computer, tablet, or cell phone

For the next few months, the Ohio State Council is holding virtual online exempli cations every Wednesday evening 7pm. To register prior to the 7pm meeting, have your candidate register at

https://kofcohio.org/exempli cation-registration/

Keep checking the Ohiokofc.org website each month for the new Membership Incentives. They are changing each month. This Month September the First 4 Councils that bring in 3 new Members (one must be Student-College or High School) will receive $150.00. The First 4 Proposers will receive $50.00 each. Send copies of your form 100s to me at mcfreil2019@gmail.com. The rst 4 sent in from throughout the State will be the winners.

Time is of the essence. Get those new members in, send in the form 100s to me ASAP Candidates must have taken their exempli cations. Every Wednesday evening 7pm the State Council hosts an exempli cation of Charity Unity and Fraternity on line.

IF YOU DO NOT ASK MEN TO JOIN, THEY WILL NOT JOIN !!!

Good Luck, I am hoping that every Council in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati becomes STAR Council!

Vivat Jesus !

Fraternal Benefits

Some events are the harbinger of the change in seasons: swallows returning to Capistrano, opening day for major league baseball, kids getting out of school for summer vacation (and then school shopping in August!), football season in the fall with Halloween and Thanksgiving and nally ending the year with a Christmas celebration.

One harbinger of September that has been like clockwork over the past number of years is our Knights of Columbus Fraternal Survey. It’s our chance to stay in touch with you, see what’s changed in your life and let you know we are here to be of service.

Just like last year the survey can be completed online; simple, fast and con dential. I’m sure that as you look through the survey you might nd a block to check; a subject you’d like some information on. Maybe you’ve been thinking about your life insurance and other bene ts at work… are they adequate? Do I get to keep my group life insurance when I move to another job? Maybe you’re thinking about a relative that’s had a long term care event and all the agony and worry that entails. Maybe it’s time to get serious about retirement.

Perhaps you have some products and you need service—a change of bene ciary or owner…or maybe you’ve moved and we need to update your contact information. Any of these can be addressed if you complete the survey.

In my travels around the area I often run into people who know the Knights of Columbus from our good works in the parish or community, our disaster response, support for Special Olympics and our prolife e orts. But very few of them know that we are a life insurance company…and we make no bones about that. After all Fr. McGivney saw that protecting our families was one of the two key reasons he brought those New Haven men together in the basement of St. Mary’s in 1882.

“No doubt Father McGivney was motivated by the wish to keep young Catholics from entering the ranks of condemned secret societies and by the need to protect families during sickness and death.” (Faith and Fraternalism, The History of the Knights of Columbus 1882-1982; Christopher J. Kau man, pg.17)

Unite men of faith and protect our families. Our Order has been faithful to that mission for 139 years. With the beati cation of Blessed Michael McGivney we all feel a renewed zeal to invite men to join the Order to reap those bene ts of Unity, Charity and Fraternity. Tempus fugit, memento mori!

Vivat Jesus!
