3.Poem selected “In memory of my mother” by Patrick Kavanagh I do not think of you lying in the wet clay of a Monaghan graveyard; I see you walking down a lane among the poplars on your way to the station, or happily Going to second Mass on a summer Sunday you meet me and you say: 'Don't forget to see about the cattle - ' among your earthiest words the angels stray. And I think of you walking along a headland of green oats in June, so full of repose, so rich with life and I see us meeting at the end of a town On a fair day by accident, after the bargains are all made and we can walk together through the shops and stalls and markets free in the oriental streets of thought. O you are not lying in the wet clay, for it is a harvest evening now and we are piling up the ricks against the moonlight and you smile up at us - eternally.

a. Author Patrick Kavanagh was an Irish poet and novelist of the 20th century. His most famous works are the novel “Tarry Flynn” and the poems “On Raglan Roads” and “The Great Hunger”. Irish people know him for his stories about Irish life and there is also a Prize of Poetry Patrick Kavanagh every year. In Dublin, there is a statue of Kavanagh sitting on a chair. The statue is inspired in one of his poems.

b. Opinions Noa When I read this poem for the first time I didn’t understand some things and some words, but I understood the main idea and the feelings that I think the author wanted to transmit. I like what the poem made me feel. It reminds me of my grandfather, because he died when my mother, my uncle and my aunt were young, and I think that the mother’s author also died when he was young. In the poem the author remembers the moments with his mother, like my mother with her father. Also, it makes me think in the moment that my mother will not stay with me. The first time that I read the poem I didn’t understand the meaning of this sentence: 'Don't forget to see about the cattle - '; but when I talked with my group I understood that he wanted to refer to the family.
34
Anxo This poem talks about the mother’s death and about the life in the field. The author tells how she feels about her mother’s death. The poem makes me feel sad and want to spend more time with my family and I like because it is very sentimental.
Carlos For me this poem has a very sentimental part from the boy to his mother. It reminds me my female dog that died when I was a child.
35
Ainara This poem makes me feel sad and really made me feel things, because it is about a sad beautiful story. When I read it for the first time I thought in the people that I don’t want to lose, friends and family. The poem also teaches us to see death in a different form and, I think, that the author compares the family with the cattle. The poem expresses a lot of emotions and that’s the reason why this poem is so sincere, I think that the author wants to express what he or she feels when he loses someone. It also wanted to tell us how, he or she, missed that person that the poem is about.

4.Conclusion We learned a lot of things as to express our feelings on a paper, try to understand the author when he wrote the poem and that anybody can write a poem. We discovered a new web to find synonyms to write beautiful poems. We learned not to judge the author for what he or she expresses.
