It's Time for School Again
I
t is hard to believe that the summer is already ending. It’s time to review the school supplies list, pick out that lucky lunch box, and finish the summer reading assignments. August 16th is the first day of school for most kids in the area. Preparing for school has certainly gotten more complex over the past 20 years. We have gone from wrapping textbooks in brown paper bags to downloading software onto smartphones, iPads, and Chromebooks. After-school programs have exploded from sports and music to a variety of different opportunities from computer classes to dual language programs. Parents have more choices as well. Neighborhood schools, charter schools, home school and virtual school are options now in addition to traditional private and public schools.
