Coral Springs Charter School Valedictorian Gives Words to Live By BY TERRY JAILLET
Robert Kaufman has quite a list of achievements under his belt. The Coral Springs Charter School Valedictorian was one of the few students in the country selected as a National Merit Scholar and the even fewer who received the prestigious Benacquisto Scholarship. He is an accomplished trumpet player who is passionate about playing Jazz and a 3rd degree black belt. You would be hard-pressed to find a 30-year-old with that list of accomplishments, let alone an 18-year-old.
“Find your passion and live life to the fullest... Our generation has an obligation to make this world a better place.” Rob has moved on from Coral Springs Charter to the University of Florida, where he is studying engineering. Like, all first-year college students in 2020,
the transition this year was unlike any other. Instead of moving into his dorm room in August, he was logging on to virtual classes. Tailgating at the football games will have to wait, but Rob’s work ethic will help him achieve whatever the circumstances. Rob delivered his valedictorian address during Coral Springs Charter School’s virtual graduation this year. The words he spoke are words we can all live by: “Be the best you can be. Find your passion and go for it; live your life to the fullest. This lockdown has shown us that life does not always go as planned. Make the best of every situation. And, think globally. Our generation has an obligation to make this world a better place.” Rob was born and raised in South Florida. His diverse interests stem from a passion for learning new things. In addition to studying academics, martials arts and music, Rob has a love for animals. Given that his father is a veterinarian, Rob has had many pets over the years. We all can’t be first in our class, play first trumpet and be an expert martial artist. We all can, however, live by the words of the local-kid that made us all proud.
