EDITOR'S LETTER

Welcome Spring is on its way.

Some might say January and February are the hardest months of the year but now they are behind us, we are seeing a few tantalising glimpses that spring is on its way.

The afternoons seem a little longer and there are stirrings in the garden as new shoots of plant life emerge. Spring, in all its colourful glory, is often seen as a time of rejuvenation and in Ewell the change in seasons will once again be marked at the Herald of Spring festival. There’s a touch of magic about this year’s celebration which takes place on March 7. If you’re a keen gardener we also have some essential tips from Doug, the Outdoor Plants Manager at

Chessington Garden Centre to help you prepare your garden for spring and summer. P15. If you want to treat your mother, or someone special in your life this Mothering Sunday, we have a wonderful selection of ideas to say thank you to her for being so great. P10. Following a successful petition to Sutton Council, Carshalton Netball Club have been given the go ahead to help repurpose two of five Tennis Courts in Carshalton Park. P26.
