We really do think that all being together here means we’re going to have a great and special weekend filled with leather fun. We’ve worked hard on this long journey to this weekend to ensure that there is something for every tribe of leathermen - uniform, bikers, pups, skins, daddies or muscle men and more - and encourage you to embrace as our large and diverse community. We would like to extend a special welcome to those of you who’ve made your own journeys to Bristol. Also a very warm welcome to all the Leather Titleholders who have come to join us here. One of the aspects I enjoy most about the fetish scene in Ireland is that, because we are still at a stage of new growth, there is an atmosphere of inclusiveness. Although there may be different levels of popularity amongst the different fetishes, we stand side by side in our kinks. We also link in with other community LGBT groups, supporting each other and organising joint events. We recognise that we are stronger together, and that diversity within a scene is an important part of it developing to its full potential. When we break it down, there is a common theme that connects us- sexuality. Not just whether you are gay, bisexual, lesbian, transgender, into leather, rubber, pup, skin, or a bear, twink, muscle, etc. But sexuality itself at its core. It’s why there can be many crossovers between “scenes”. The aim for my title year is to bring Ireland to the world and the world to Ireland, by sharing this ideology. Much like the bonds we continue to build amongst ourselves here within, I hope to build bridges between this island, Europe and the world. Let us share this experience together. Jayde Adams A regular at several major comedy and arts festivals across the UK (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Brighton Festival, Electric Picnic, Glastonbury Festival and Bestival.) Joe Sutherland London based and fresh faced, Joe is a stand-up comedian who will bring us some camp cattiness to our Pride Comedy Night. Zoe Lyons Award winning comedian Zoe Lyons has been “selling her comedy wares” on the comedy circuit since 2004. In 2009, much to her astonishment, she was ranked 81st in the Independent on Sunday’s “Pink List” of Britain’s 100 most influential gay and lesbian people. I have been an active member of our leather community for many years and I have been lucky enough to have been able to attend several leather events and festivals as Mr XXXLeather already. Through my work both in my home city of Amsterdam and across the world, I have been able to gain a global perspective on our leather community and I believe that in order to strengthen our unique bonds, we need more than ever, to work together as one. By continually raising the profile of leathermen across Europe and beyond, we can all support each other and help to educate those that look upon us with curiosity and inspire those that wish to join us. The LGBT community have been (and continue to be) subject to abuse that stems from ignorance. It is my hope that I can use the title of Mr XXXLeather to highlight the issues that affect us all and promote the solutions that will lead to change for the better. By standing united, our leather brotherhood can help to challenge perceptions, break down barriers and promote tolerance of all cultures.
