Quote from Warburton Millgrove’s Coach Alexandra Woods
“The 17 & Under team have stepped it up this season. Last year was incredible, finishing 4th and winning the premiership. But this year, has been better. Their development as players and as a team has resulted them to win all of the 2023 match ups so far with 12 wins in the home and away season. The key component for our 17’s is development and learning, ready for senior netball. The season this team has had is no surprise with the work they have put in the last 2 years. Lucas being awarded Best and Fairest was amazing in itself. Tayah Humphrey taking home leading goal scorer was another achievement too! I look forward to seeing what this team can bring Saturday. Finals netball is a whole different ballgame, and they will definitely be going from the first centre pass until the final siren. As long as they put together what they have learnt and gained this season, they can achieve anything on the weekend. It is set to be a quality game against a strong Alexandra FNC, who I am sure will bring their best, also. Go Burras!”
Quote from Alexandra’s Coach Ellie Hedger
“The u17 team this year has been quite successful. Finishing 2nd on the ladder and making it to the grand final for a second consecutive year with a team made majority out of bottom aged players is an incredible effort. The grand final will be a tough game against the very strong, and undefeated, Warburton-Millgrove but the growth we have shown in the past few weeks on and off the court, alongside a positive and team-oriented mindset, will be sure to challenge them and hopefully get our team across the line.”

“B grade had an incredible first final to beat Broadford for the first time this year. Broadford are such a strong opponent, so it will be a really tough game for us this week. We have an incredible group of talented girls who have pushed hard to get to where they are, both on and off the court. We have been working hard in the lead up and we are so excited to have the opportunity to compete in a Grand Final this week.”
“I’ve been at the Broadford FNC for 17 years which has included a fair few finals series, but this season is my most memorable by far and hopefully a win on Saturday will make it even sweeter. To coach amongst friends is something I have absolutely enjoyed. We have been on a rollercoaster ride this season, on and off the court, but it has only made our bond grow stronger. There is a definite nervousness about finals, but we have worked hard and trained all year for this match and feel very proud to have made it this far. Warburton are strong competitors and match us well, so it will make for an awesome game on the weekend. The team have worked really hard to get this far and have laser focus on going all the way. I have no doubt they will come out firing for four quarters on Saturday.”

“Another great season by the D grade girls going undefeated and finishing with 11 wins under their belt. Brilliant effort by Tamin Crunden winning League Best & Fairest and Cam Partel the leading goal shooter. This game will be a tough battle against Powelltown in a 2022 Grand final rematch so we know we will have to have our A game on. The girls have trained hard all year and they all know their individual roles they have to play to make it all come together to bring the silverware home again.”
Quote from Powelltown’s Coach Kristy Sumner
“We are going into the game in high spirits and with a strong and capable team. Warburton are always a tough opponent, but I have no doubt our girls will give it their all on the day and leave nothing in the tank.”
