Outer East FN confirms that the Broadford and Yea football teams will combine for the remainder of season 2022. The two sides will be known as Broadford-Yea in the seniors and Yea-Broadford in the reserves. Both jumpers will be used across the season, as each club host home games across the year. The structure of the netball divisions are not affected by this decision, with Yea netball remaining as graded. The football will be aligned to Broadford’s netball team, with clubs to play Yea netball in bye rounds. A key outcome for all Division Two clubs was for football and netball to remain together both home and away, which has been achieved. Every possible step has been taken to assist both clubs to take the field at full capacity in 2022. The league has met regularly with Broadford and Yea since February. The option to combine was investigated pre-season, however the desire from both clubs was to exhaust every avenue to field full squads, a position supported by the league. With both clubs playing in Round 1 and Yea with the bye following the Easter break, Round 4 was the targeted period to make a decision for 2022.
In the short term, Broadford-Yea will begin as a combined outfit from Round five. Once combined, this will see the outfit have a list of approximately 60 players to choose from each week, which means seniors and reserves football will occur across every fixture (covid dependent) all season. I would like to thank all Division Two clubs for their cooperation through this process. We have been in constant dialogue with all presidents over the past three months, and everyone has been strong in their support of the process that has been taken. The impact of COVID-19 for many clubs has been significant and it has been extremely pleasing to see the manner in which our clubs have supported each other through the process. Significant support will be put in place to ensure both clubs return in full capacity in 2023. Division Two clubs were provided full details of the restructure and a new fixture last week. Following club feedback and requests, a second draft of the new fixture has gone out to clubs today for review. Importantly, all fixture requests provided by clubs have been met, in particular marquee fixtures and byes.
The season has now been condensed from 21 rounds to 18, with finals to occur on the corresponding weeks of Rounds 19, 20 and 21 as originally fixtured. Division Two Grand Finals will now be played on Saturday 3rd September. All clubs will now play 15 home and away fixtures (seniors and reserves) with three byes, with each to meet three times. Yarra Junction’s Round Two fixture vs Yea will be seen as the first of three fixtures against Broadford/Yea and will be recorded as a win and goals and votes will stand. The new finals dates for Division Two are as follows: Sunday 21st August - Semi Finals Sunday 28th August - Preliminary Final Sunday 4th September - Grand Final Salary Caps will remain at $65,000, with clubs to manage at their discretion, however reporting and remaining inside/under the cap will be strictly managed by Outer East FN.

The ANZAC Round of fixtures over the weekend was terrific and the perfect way to commemorate those who have fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. With Emerald hosting Gembrook Cockatoo at Chandler Reserve, the Bombers hosted a combined total of nine games of football and netball as a large crowd turned out for a magnificent day of events. The Bombers enjoyed a great day on both the court and the field, beating the Brookers by 28 points in A grade netball and then by two points in senior football as Patrick Chin was awarded the ANZAC Medal for his six goal effort. As Monbulk and Narre Warren met for the first time, it was the Magpies who exerted their dominance over the Hawks with wins across all games of football and netball. The two fixtures that occurred on ANZAC Day was a great contest and series of events between a mix of premier division rivals, with Wandin taking on Woori Yallock and Upwey Tecoma hosting Olinda Ferny Creek. Wandin and Olinda Ferny Creek took the honours in A Grade netball, with the senior matches proving to be a tough lot of matches between traditional rivals.
The Bulldogs and the Tigers were locked in combat for much of the clash at Wandin North Recreation Reserve, before the Tigers overcame a slight deficit at three quarter time to record its second win of the season by three goals. Over at the Superdome, the Tigers conceded six goals to the Bloods in the first quarter, but worked their way back into the contest through the efforts of Carmine Porcaro and Marc Peduto who were domninant for the home side. In the end, Olinda Ferny Creek managed to hang on for its first win of the season as they mount an attack on its premier division rivals. Following the senior men’s match, the women’s football representatives of each club battled it out in a twilight fixture on ANZAC Day in what was a good test for both clubs in their development as teams. In a low-scoring affair, it was the Bloods who took the win over the Tigers by 10 points. The action in premier division is going to be a great lot of football and netball to watch with Wandin’s strong form early to receive a good test on the grounds of Kalora Park against Narre Warren.
With both stepping up from Division One for this season, Mount Evelyn and Monbulk will renew rivalries this weekend with each looking to grab their first wins in the senior football ranks. Meanwhile, the two Tiger outfits of Woori Yallock and Upwey Tecoma will go head-to-head, while Olinda Ferny Creek and Pakenham will battle each other with the aim to achieve its second victory of season 2022. Belgrave will take its turn as the rival to Yarra Glen for the eighth running of the Pride Cup, with the hosts aiming to take the honours once again in a match they place alot of emphasis on. As the year progresses further and we go deeper into the season, clubs will look to go up a gear in their on-field/ court performance as they attempt to cement a position as one of the better performers in their respective divisions. For premier division in particular, the competition will be put on notice if Wandin are able to knock off the might of Narre Warren which will ensure the remainder of the season is highly enjoyable and interesting to watch. With the two major long weekend periods of the season completed, now is the time for clubs to attack as they strive for success in 2022.

Emerald reign supreme on ANZAC weekend

Despite a short 10-day notice period of hosting ANZAC Round, Emerald Football Netball Club put on a wellrun series of games against Gembrook Cockatoo over the weekend which saw them host a combined total of nine games of football and netbal.
Inaccurate kicking in front of goal by Gembrook Cockatoo ultimately saw the Bombers claim victory on one of the most prestigious days of the sporting calendar, as Patrick Chin starred to be awarded the ANZAC Medal with his six-goal effort.
With the Bombers represented in all but one game, where the Brookers hosted Narre Warren in a veteran’s game following the senior football match, Emerald enjoyed a great day out with wins in all football games as well as in A and B Grade netball.
Club president Mark Pedder was pleased with how the day turned out for his club given the tight timeline and was particularly pleased with the turnout of spectators and members of the Emerald RSL.
The A Grade netball match saw the Bombers dominate the Brookers, with the final score resulting in 56 to 28 as Kaylah and Suria Loulanting starred to feature prominently in the forward line. The senior football match was a terrific game between the local rivals, as the Brookers worked their way back into the contest late in the game to put themselves in with a genuine chance of stealing the honours away from the home side.
“We had a fair idea a couple of weeks out that there was a fair chance we would be hosting the ANZAC Round for a second year in a row, so we had a couple of things in place in case we had to pull the trigger on it,” he said. “While the ANZAC ceremony was not as big as what we had last year, it was still good and we made sure we honoured the ANZAC’s appropriately as always.” Another component of the ANZAC Round commemorations was to
include the Emerald v Gembrook Cockatoo under 17 junior football match, as well as reschedule the under 19’s match against Mount Evelyn to be at Chandler Reserve where Pedder hopes the younger brigade of players got a lot out of being included in the ANZAC Round. “The ability for those younger guys to play in front of a big crowd that turned out early would have been an absolute buzz for them,” he mentioned. The close relationship held with Emerald RSL means Bombers can always maintain a great representation with them which is always returned by the club, as members of the playing group assisted the RSL on ANZAC Day itself with running their event on the day. Pedder is appreciative to members of his club for their assistance in putting on a great event for the second year in a row, as well as to those from Gembrook Cockatoo who worked well with Emerald to put on a great show.

Premier Division Football Week Three Review The first ever matchup between Monbulk and Narre Warren started off slow for both sides, staying within a goal of each other up to half time before the Magpies skipped away in the second half to take a seven-goal win by games end. Ash Beck and Jake Richardson each kicked four goals for their sides, while Kurt Mutimer, Joel Zietsman, Josh Tonna, Mitch Tonna and Hayden Stagg all starred for the Magpies. For the Hawks, Jayden Joyce, Dylan Werts, Josh Spencer, William Henderson and Glenn Strachan all stood out. The matchup between local rivals Officer and Pakenham was dominated by the Lions for most of the match, holding a fivegoal buffer right up until three quarter time. In the final quarter, however, the Kangaroos stepped up to work themselves back into the contest at Starling Road. In the end, the Lions managed to hang on for an eight-point win at games end with Jordan Stewart, Jaiden Camenzuli, Jackson Bramich, Jake Thompson and Matthew Debruin starring as their best players.
Week Four Preview The game between Narre Warren and Wandin is shaping up to be a great matchup, with the Bulldogs in particular looking to knock off the Magpies in what will be a true test of where they are at in the early point of the season. Through the efforts of Patty Bruzzese, Patrick Hodgett and captain Tom Hinds at full back, Wandin are well-placed to potentially cause an upset on the grounds of Kalora Park, which will put the remainder of premier division on notice as we get into the ‘nitty gritty’ of the season. With both stepping up from division one to compete in premier, Mount Evelyn and Monbulk will renew rivalries once again as they fight to put their first win on the board for season 2022. Enduring a tough loss to Wandin in Round One before a bye last week, the Rovers will be out to prove they are no pushover against its local Hawks rivals. Woori Yallock will be out to grab their third successive win to start season 2022, when they take on Upwey Tecoma at Woori Yallock Recreation Reserve on Saturday. Led by the likes of Kody Busoli around the ground and Zac Monkhorst up forward, the Tigers of the upper Yarra Valley region have been impressive
The first of two ANZAC Day matchups was a great tussle throughout as Wandin and Woori Yallock fought for the honours on one of the biggest days of the year in sport. The Bulldogs and the Tigers were locked in a tight battle up to three quarter time, with Wandin taking a seven-point lead going into the last quarter. From there, the Tigers reclaimed the lead they held in the first half to finish with a three-goal win at match’s end. Zach Monkhorst, Kane Thompson, Luke Boontjes, Liam O’Dea, Nick Mende and Jason Lindgren all starred for the Tigers while Clint Johnson was a sharpshooter at the other end of the ground for the Bulldogs, finishing with seven majors. The second ANZAC Day clash between Upwey Tecoma and Olinda Ferny Creek started off in favour of the Bloods, kicking six goals to two in the first quarter to hold a four-goal lead at quarter time. From there, the Tigers gradually worked themselves back into the contest to bring the margin back down to seven points leading into the final change. In the final quarter, however, the Bloods managed to hang on for their first win of season 2022, with a 13-point buffer. Patrick Rosier, Kelsey Currie, Matt Scharenberg and Oakley Jessop were the standouts for the Bloods, with Mathieu Rosier and Lachlan Taylor each sharing three goals. thus far, which ensures coach Jack Cole will do all he can to make sure his side can continue the momentum. For the Tigers of the Burwood Highway, Upwey Tecoma have been competitive thus fa, with its Round One win over Officer and going down by 13 points to Olinda Ferny Creek on ANZAC Day. Led by the likes of coach Stuart Hill, Carmine Porcaro and Waters boys, a second win for the year would be an outstanding result against the might of Woori Yallock. Olinda Ferny Creek and Pakenham will go head-to-head up in the Dandenong Ranges this week, with each side sharing the objective of needing to grab their second win of season 2022. The Bloods have been competitive thus far in the new year with the likes of Kelsey Currie, Lachlan Taylor and Matt Scharenberg all playing important roles and they will once again be called upon to play a pivotal role on Saturday. Pakenham, on the other hand, have been competitive but need to tidy up a couple of areas in their game plan if they are to be genuine contenders later in the year. This matchup against the Bloods is a great way to start with this changeup.

Premier Division Netball Week Three Review Just as it was on the football field, the netball teams of Monbulk and Narre Warren met for the first time, with the match going the way of the Magpies by 29 points. Brittany Mashado, Chelsea Tonna and Gabrielle Dwyer were the standouts for the winners while playing coach Erin Bell and Tonna each scored 27 and 22 goals for Narre Warren. For the Hawks, it was Paige Whitworth, Sophie Stubbs, Stephanie Puopolo who starred as their best players, with Puopolo and Stubbs each scoring 27 and 9 goals for Monbulk. The matchup between local rivals ROC and Pakenham Lions was a great matchup as both teams exchanged the lead throughout the contest, making a winner hard to pick going into the last break. However, it was the Kangaroos who managed to take the lead in the final quarter and win by one goal over the Lions to make it two from two. Captain Sam Neil, Mikaela Dakic and Ciara Nelson were the best players for ROC, while Teneille Morrell, Briar Brown and Chloe Morgan were the standouts for the Lions. Wandin and Woori Yallock went hard at it throughout the A Grade match on the netball court, with the Tigers holding the lead for much of the game until the final quarter, where the Bulldogs snatched the lead and took a three-point win to make it two wins to start the season. Playing coach Ruby Tidd, Kali Week Four Preview Just as it is on the football field, the A grade netballers of Wandin will have a good test on their hands this week when they face up against Narre Warren at Kalora Park. Erin Bell and Brittany Lamont have been excellent for the Magpies in its season 2022 campaign thus far and will hope to continue with it this week and the motive will be much the same for the Bulldogs. With both sides having won their first two games to start the year, the winner should go straight to the top of the ladder, which means there’s a lot riding on this match. Mount Evelyn and Monbulk will resume their rivalry this week, with the intensity on the netball court sure to match that of the football match. The Rovers are yet to pull off a victory in season 2022, so they will be keen to put a win on the board before we get too far into the season. For the Hawks, a second win of season 2022 will be the clear aim in this match before they go too far into the season. The matchup on the netball courts between the two Tiger teams of Woori Yallock and Upwey Tecoma is sure to be a great one, with each team chasing their first win of season 2022. Both
Dolphin and Abby Gedge all starred for the Bulldogs with Gedge herself leading the goal shooters tally with 38. For the Tigers, the efforts of all players did not go unnoticed, with playing coach Mia Sudomirski, Jacquelyn Carroll and Kyah Kimpton all recognised as their best players. Elizabeth Murphy was the leading goalshooter with 27 majors. On the netball courts of Thompson Reserve, Upwey Tecoma and Olinda Ferny Creek fought a tough match as the visitors took a five-goal win come matches end. Brodie Smith, Jackie Cutting and Bronwyn Simpson were the standout for the Bloods as Hayley Howard led the goal shooting tally with 30 majors. Charlotte Davies, Jessica Black and Holly Nieuwenhuizen all fought hard for the Tigers, with Black in particular finishing with 23 goals. Going up against Mount Evelyn for the first time, Beaconsfield had the edge over the home side for much of the match, eventually taking a five-goal win to put its first lot of four points on the board for season 2022. Jaime Quinn, Jordan Lang and Regan Brokenshire were named as the best players for the Eagles, with Brokenshire and Zara Treweek sharing 17 goals each. For the Rovers, Kaila Swindell, Kate Montgomery and Gabby Bingley all put in their best efforts to be named as the best players.
squads have been competitive but have endured close losses to each of their rivals thus far, so a win this week will be well received for both clubs as they try to move themselves up the ladder before the season gets too far ahead. Winning its first two matches to start the season, Olinda Ferny Creek will be out to make it three from three this weekend but will first need to encounter the might of the Pakenham Lions. For the Lions, a tough one-point loss to ROC in the last round was a bitter pill to swallow considering they had led for much of the match and will clearly be aiming to make up for it this week through the leading efforts of Emma Jones and Caitlin Cooke. Local rivals Beaconsfield and ROC will go head-to-head for the first time in four years this weekend when the two clubs meet on the netball courts of Holm Park. For the Eagles, a second win in a row will be a great way to keep its campaign going as we progress further into the year. For ROC, it’s been a great start to its premier division campaign and a third straight win will be the only thing on its mind on Saturday.

THE BEST OF THE WEEKEND
Division One Football Week Three Review Seville had the upper hand on Yarra Glen for the entirety of their matchup on Saturday, building their lead throughout the game to take a 10-goal win and take top spot on the ladder. Josh Weightman, Jack Nolan, Jye Sciortino, Jack Coshutt and Jake Strachan were all named as the best players for the winners while captain Nathan O’Keefe finished with six goals. Jason Godfrey and Ryan Smith each kicked three goals to give the River Pigs something to cheer about on the day. Healesville took a big win over Belgrave on its home turf at Don Road, as young gun Max Donegan finished with a big haul of 11 goals. Ruckman Will Kristelly-Kelety, Daniel Plozza, Campbell Frazzetto, Lochie Oliver and Daniel Ebbels were all recognised as the best players for the Bloods while Brenden Speed, Michael Chimenton, Robbie Bertalli, Nathan Dawson, Jayden Wood and Robbie Matthews all tried their hardest for the Magpies. Week Four Preview The eighth running of the Pride Cup match sees Yarra Glen and Belgrave go head-to-head with both sides eager to get their first win on the board for season 2022 in Division One. There’s no doubt the River Pigs are really missing their influential captain Ben Ashton who is out with an injury but will continue to put its best efforts forward this weekend in an annual fixure for which they place a lot of emphasis on. For the Magpies, this is the perfect opportunity to continue in its development pathway and have a crack at victory.
The match of the round contest between Emerald and Gembrook Cockatoo was a great matchup as both sides went hard at it for ANZAC Round supremacy. As the Bombers held a two-goal lead for much of the match and built a slightly bigger margin in the final quarter, the momentum suddenly moved the way of the Brookers as they came storming home to put themselves in with a chance of snatching victory. An opportunity at goal by Bryce Wareham late in the game resulted in a point with the siren sounding only moments later, Emerald managing to win by two points. Brendan Wilson, Steven Paull, Ryan Hall, Jordan Donadel and Harry Lang were all named as the best players for the Bombers, with Patrick Chin finishing with six majors. Myles Wareham was a major factor in the fightback of the Brookers, as he also finished with six goals.
of Gembrook Cockatoo by a tight margin on ANZAC weekend was a feat and it makes the early suggestion that Emerald are one of the genuine contenders in Division One. For Berwick Springs, win number one is high on the agenda for this week when they travel to Chandler Reserve.
Emerald and Berwick Springs will meet for the second time in as many years as the Bombers try to make it three from three in its season 2022 campaign thus far. Managing to beat the might
The matchup between Division One heavyweights Seville and Gembrook Cockatoo is sure to be a great contest as talented players of each club go head-to-head. Nathan O’Keefe’s Blues outfit have been strong early in the season but the Brookers will do everything in their power to stop their momentum, with the likes of Colin Bastow, Michael Firrito and Myles Wareham sure to put in strong performances once again.

Division One Netball Week Three Review Just as it was on the football field, Seville were dominant from start to finish in the A grade netball game, as the Blues finished with a 28-goal win. Erin Baker, Samantha Karakinos and Olivia Ray were all named as the best players for Seville, with Ray herself finishing with 40 goals. For Yarra Glen, it was Meaghan Carter, Lara Wandin-Collins and Jacqueline Hibberd who put in their best efforts for the River Pigs.
The netballers of Emerald were too strong for Gembrook Cockatoo, dominating the match to double their score, the game ending on 56-28. Kaylah and Suria Loulanting were outstanding for the Bombers, shooting 31 and 21 goals each while Jazmyn Wray and Matilda Preston also featured prominently for the home side. Chelsea Ingram, Ashlee Bowden and Paige Ladner all tried hard for Brookers, in what was a tough match for them.
The A Grade matchup between Healesville and Belgrave was a good game to watch, as the Magpies gradually grew their lead to finish with a 15-goal lead to put its first win on the board for 2022. Ashlee Murphy, Anna Carroll and Georgia Donnelly were all named as the best players for Belgrave as Krystyna Gabell and Donnelly shared the goals between them.
The matchup between same town rivals Berwick and Berwick Springs did not turn out as many may have hoped, with the Wickers taking a 59-point win over the Titans. Hayley Stewart, Kyla Quinn and Emily Pupuke were named as the best players for Berwick while Chloe Phillips and Pupuke finished with 43 and 24 goals each.
Week Four Preview The Pride Cup matchup will be replicated just as well on the netball courts as it is with the footy, with Yarra Glen and Belgrave going head-to-head to chase their second wins of the season. Both outfits have performed well thus far, but claiming the honours for the Pride Cup will be hot on the minds for both teams, particularly the River Pigs as the home side.
Seville and Gembrook Cockatoo will meet this weekend in what is sure to be a great matchup of two great sides that want to achieve success in 2022. The Blues are searching for their fourth win of the year while the Brookers will be hoping they can achieve win number two with the assistance of the likes of Paige Ladner, Chelsea Ingram and Ashlee Bowden.
Emerald have been ultra-competitive in Division One thus far and will be hoping to continue its momentum when they take on Berwick Springs at Chandler Reserve. The tuition of new coach Michael Loulanting has proved pivotal in its undertakings thus far, but will need to encounter the might of the Titan army this week who are chasing its second win of the season.
Healesville will be hoping to put in their best performances this weekend when they take on the might of Berwick at Don Road. For the Bloods, Chenile and Kaitlyn Chandler will be sure to put in their best efforts while strong performances of Olivia Macente, Chloe Phillips and Hayley Stewart will be on show once again.

Division Two Football Week Three Review Alexandra took its first win of season 2022 over the weekend with a 156-point win over Broadford on its home turf at Alexandra Showgrounds. Lachlan Nankervis, Thomas Massey, Damon Cardona, Ben Jack, Harley Tanti and Stephen Steiner all put in their best efforts to be recognised as the best players for the Rebels, Nankervis himself finishing with four goals for the afternoon. On a tough day for the Kangaroos, it was Tom Knight, Brandon Austin and Liam Lucas who hit the scoreboard with three, two and one goal each. The matchup between local rivals Yarra Junction and Warburton Millgrove was another fixture that turned out to be a great game, as the Eagles managed to overcome being behind at every break to hit the front in the final quarter and take a one-point win come matches end. Josh Wall, Jesse Bombinski, David Johnson, Week Four Preview The matchup between Yarra Junction and Alexandra is sure to be a great contest, with the Eagles hoping to maintain its position in second on the ladder with a win over the Rebels. The boys of the Yarra Valley have been impressive in its campaign thus far which proves they are a key contender for the season. For the Rebels, win number two is high on the agenda and they will be hopeful it can be achieved with the assistance of captain Brayden Norris, Dean Galea, Jason Degabriele and Sam Kerridge.
Sam Cannon, Brayden Mead and Josh Hammen all featured prominently throughout the day to be named as the best players for Yarra Junction while Matt Wright, Paddy Huynh, Shaun Marusic, Mitch Bonuda, Nelson Aldridge and Jack Lee were all recognised as the best players for the Burras. The game between Division Two heavyweights Kinglake and Powelltown did not turn out as many would have hoped, as the Lakers took a 71-point win over the Demons on their home turf. Despite starting off evenly in the first quarter, Kinglake stepped on the gas in the second quarter to build a big lead which they continued to develop as the game wore on. Luke Hannah, Matthew Coen, Bailey Robinson, Tom Clarke, Jack Crowe and Mason McAllister were all named as the best players for the Lakers while Damian Pywell finished with four goals. Another game of heavyweights will occur on Saturday, with Warburton Millgrove taking on Kinglake at Mac Sparke Oval. Both clubs have had a competitive start to their seasons with Mitch Bonuda of the Burras being an influential figure for his new club in the early stages. For the Lakers, the likes of young guns Jed Tyrell and Riley Kennedy will be on show once again as Kinglake try to grab a win.

Division Two Netball Week Three Review With superstar Ally Black missing from the Broadford lineup, Alexandra took a surprise win in its A grade netball match against the Kangaroos, finishing with a 14-goal win to get the ball rolling for season 2022. Ellie Hedger and Lauren Steyger scored 27 and 18 goals each, with Grace Taberner doing well to be named as a standout for the Rebels. Brooke Currell, Amanda Rothwell and Ebony Heers were all named as the best players for the Kangaroos on a tough day. Warburton Millgrove have taken its third win in a row to start the season, defeating Yarra Junction by 18 goals. Morgan Wyatt, Ally Langdon and Selina Fotia were all recognised as the best players while Shae Gee, Bianca Daniels and Kirralee Luiyf featured Week Four Preview The A Grade netballers of Yarra Junction and Alexandra will be hoping to put on a great show this week when they each chase their second wins of the season. The Eagles encountered their first loss of the season last week, while the Rebels took a surprise win against second placed Broadford in a win which instilled great confidence early in the season. Warburton Millgrove will go for win number four this weekend, when they take on Kinglake who have been competitive in their outings thus far. For the Burras the likes of Selina Fotia, Kirralee Luiyf, Gabby Woods and Bianca Daniels have all played a key part
prominently as the goal shooters for the Burras. For the Eagles, it was Claire Spicer, Katelin Harrison and Rebecca Gysberts who starred as their best. Powelltown have taken its first win of the season in the A grade netball competition, getting the upper hand over Kinglake to record a victory by 25 goals to get the ball rolling in its 2022 campaign. Playing coach Hayley Debuf, Olivia Caneva and Maddalyn Beet were all recognised as the best players while Amy Stanley and Jade Rogers were the goal shooters for the Demons. Billie Cvijetic, Jacinta Benson and Natalie Gibson all tried hard for the Lakers in what was a tough loss.
in their strong start to the season and will again play a strong role this week. For the Lakers, a competitive outing will be high on the priority list. Broadford and Yea will square off again for the second time in a month, with the Kangaroos looking to make amends for a shock loss to Alexandra last week. Ally Black should make her return to the line-up this week which will aid Broadford in their quest for victory this week, while for the Tigers, they will continue to do all they can put in a solid performance on the court and excite all their fanbase that turn out for the matchup.

Liam Barnard - 250 games Warburton Millgrove Football Netball Club congratulates Liam Barnard who plays his 250th Senior Club game this week. With all matches having being played in the seniors, this is a magnificent achievement which also earns him the honour of being awarded life membership at the Burras. Commencing his football career at Wesburn Junior Football Club, Barnard came through all age groups and won several awards including club best & fairest, league best & fairest and played representative football. Since joining the Burras as a senior footballer, he won club best & fairest awards in 2012, 2017 and 2018 and was runner up in 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2016. On top of these club achievements, Barnard was awarded the YVMDFL 1st Division senior best & fairest in 2013 following his runner up placing in 2011.
Liam had a stint as senior captain in 2012 - 2016 and also captained the Under 18s in 2006. Debuting in the Under 18’s in 2005, the talent of Barnard was clearly apparent as he made his debut in the seniors the following year against Emerald. Barnard was a member of the 2006 2nd Division Senior Premiership Champion Team and also represented the YVMDFL in Representative Interleague games. Playing most of his career as a midfielder thus far, he is often tagged by opposition clubs, hence his stance in the competition as a dominant player.
Barny also sets a fine pace off the field from a social perspective in organising and enjoying several club functions in the past. The Warburton Millgrove Football Netball Club is extremely proud of Liam’s outstanding contribution towards not only the club but the local sporting community and wish him all the very best as he continues to leave no stone unturned in his desire to achieve the ultimate success for his club, alongside his mates. Congratulations Liam!
A popular and highly regarded figure within the Burras community and by opposition clubs, Barnard has established many friendships throughout the region with his involvement in local football and cricket.

Women’s Football Week Three Review Yarra Junction have taken its first win of season 2022 since its suite of changes over the off-season, recording a 32-point win over Thornton Eildon. A great performance by the Eagles saw Jess Laidlaw, Simone Azzopardi, Siobhan Williams, Amy Spicer and Adele Ormsby named as the best players while Emily Spicer led the goalkicking list with four majors. Tahnee Heard, Hannah Rusic and Lucy Wells all kicked one goal each in a tough afternoon for the Shinboners.
Healesville have maintained its position on top of the ladder in the women’s football competition with a 45-point win over Belgrave at Don Road in what was a comprehensive performance. Ishka-Belle Stock, Kelly Laidlaw, Kate Methven, Lauren Rogers, Dannielle Jones and Erica Cianci were all recognised as the best players for the Bloods, with Stock herself finishing with three majors in the twilight fixture of Saturday afternoon.
The game between Seville and Yarra Glen was a forfeit and no match took place.
The ANZAC Day match between heavyweights Upwey Tecoma and Olinda Ferny Creek was a great contest in what was a true indication of where both sides are at in terms of overall performance, with the Bloods taking a 10-point victory over the Tigers. The low-scoring match was reflective of how competitive the game was between two well-structured outfits, with the final scores showing 5.5-35 to 3.7-25. Lily Carlin, Madeleline Collins, Grace Belloni, Claire Hyett, Chelsea Wilson and Emmalee Keegan starred as the best players for the Bloods while Rebecca Robinson, Kiana Oates, Penelope Dousset, Madison Walsh and Millie Samios were all recognised as the best players for the Tigers.
Pakenham have recorded its second win of the season, taking a 17-point victory in a well fought match against Monbulk in the twilight of Saturday afternoon. Abbey Tognazzini, Chloe Nagel, Tayla Sbisa, Courtney Karayannis, Courtney Stephens and Bianca Moody were all recognised as the best players for the Lions, while Yanessa Hancock-Wolfe, Simone Beattie, Stephanie Pauw, Shania Turner and Maddison Dodd were named as the best for the Hawks. Week Four Preview Following its defeat of Thornton Eildon last week, Yarra Junction will have more confidence onboard this week when they take on the might of Upwey Tecoma on its home deck. Recruiting more players to the side over the past few weeks, the Eagles are better placed to mount a challenge to its opponents and the third-placed Tiger army are a good place to start in gauging where they are at. The women of the Burwood Highway put in a formidable performance ANZAC Day, despite going down to Olinda Ferny Creek and will look to get back on track this week. Thornton Eildon will hope to continue on its pathway of development this week when they take on ladder leaders Healesville on their home deck. Yet to win a game in season 2022, the Shinboners will be hoping to put in a solid performance this weekend against the Bloods who have been dominant in their appearances thus far. The matchup between Seville and Monbulk will be a good test for both sides, with the Blues still searching for its first victory of the season. The Blues will need to turn its bad start to the season around quickly in order to get themselves back on track, but with the Hawks as its rivals on Saturday afternoon, they too will be looking for a win as following a competitive performance against Pakenham last week.
The women’s football match of Yarra Glen and Belgrave will join in the festivities of the Pride Cup, which is scheduled to follow the senior men’s football game in the twilight of Saturday afternoon. Despite having to forfeit last week, the River Pigs will keen to field a team and put in a good performance this week for an event which they place a lot of emphasis on. For the Magpies, a loss to Healesville last week put a spanner in the works for this early part of the season but will be out to overcome that this weekend. Olinda Ferny Creek and Pakenham will square off for the first time, with this match also taking place after the men’s football game up in the hills of the Dandenong Ranges. Both sides are coming off a win last week where the Bloods got the better of Upwey Tecoma in a close match up while Pakenham defeated Monbulk. Since her debut in the side against Seville prior to the Easter break, Grace Belloni has been an outstanding performer for the Bloods with great support from Madeline Collins and Chelsea Wilson to name a few, while for the Lions, Chloe Nagel will be sure to have her side up and about for this all important clash.
