Introduction Dear Elizabeth, Welcome to beautiful Oslo and our festival. Together with our audience and your Norwegian fans, we have created a personal guide to Oslo for you – with suggested experiences and places to visit that we think you will appreciate. It was very gratifying that I got to write this introduction for you. In recent years, your songs have been the soundtrack of my life. A couple of years ago me and my youth’s big love went separate ways after twenty years together - through heartbreak, and then in the search for new love, your lyrics and songs have resonated with me and reflected a lot of my thoughts through an emotional rollercoaster. When we received the confirmation that you would headline, I borrowed a little from the «Radio» lyric as I spread the has news to the world: «Sweet like cinnamon, like a fuckin’ dream I’m livin’ in.» So, my unknown friend, here’s your guide to Oslo. Tip no.1 The Munch Museum is an art museum dedicated to the life and works of the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, best known for the famous work The Scream. This summer the museum presents the show “Towards the Forest – Knausgaard on Munch” which features works that aren’t as familiar to audiences, many of which have never been shown to the public. Expect a “more emotionally charged path into Munch’s artistic world—with no importance on chronology or biography—from Knausgaard’s fresh perspective, which delivers an untold story about the artist and what he searched for in his art.” The museum is located at on Oslo’s east side, Tøyen and should not be missed!

Tip no.2 Oslo Reptilpark is located in the middle of Oslo, near churches and theatres. The park has various breeds of snakes, frogs in the colors of the rainbow, big and small slugs, several hairy spiders, a crocodile, and two flocks of Marmoset monkeys! I love the reptile park because it is a bit smaller than your general zoo, which gives it a more intimate feeling where you can spend as much time as you would like looking at the different reptiles, and the staff has the time to answer all of your questions and wonderings. Every Tuesday, you can also see when the animal care-takers feeds the animals. And if you dare, you can “meet� and hold some of the snakes!

Tip no.3 Sørenga Sjøbad are old docks that have been turned into a downtown swimming spot where you can dive right into the Oslofjord. Day or night, it’s always super refreshing. And fun! Tip no.4 It would be awesome if Lana could play “Video Games» from Oslo Domkrike, our biggest church in Oslo with the bells of the cathedral inside the clock tower, or maybe at city hall! I would also love to take her walking up “kjærlighetsstien” (path of love) to enjoy the view of Oslo and our prize winning skyline “Barcode” I think she would love the Ekeberg Restaurant (built 1927) with its beautiful outdoor service and a fantastic view of the Oslofjord, the islands and boats. Since I heard she loves walking, I would also recommend for her to check out The Ekeberg Sculpture Park donated by Christian Ringnes, and of course, a picnic there with me :) I love Lana!

Tip no.6 Botanisk hage is one of the most quiet and peaceful places in Oslo, where you can walk around in beautiful gardens and parks, with rare flowers and trees everywhere. Tip no.8 A round tour at the historical Restaurant Ekeberg. The view and the restaurant with its history is amazing. And the food is good too! And then ask if you can visit the tower. Tip no.10 Robot Oslo is a second-hand and vintage clothing store located in lower Markveien in Oslo. It is a great place for shopping everything from jeans to sunglasses, and I believe there will be some good finds for you there. The reason I am recommending you Robot is that you went there yourself back in 2013, and I thought a revisit would be fun. Their selection of products is amazing, especially considering the size of the store. Furthermore, I’ve visited several times myself without disappointment.  Â

Tip no.12 Take a walk on the Oslo Opera House and admire the view of the Oslo fjord The Oslo Opera House is the home of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. Shaped like an “iceberg” that’s dipping in the water, it’s a very outstanding building, and the view is spectacular. You can walk on it, too, up on to the roof! The building was finished in 2007, and the architects behind it are ”Snøhetta”. Take a boat trip If the weather is good, why not take a boat trip on the Oslo fjord? B-) There are many options, if you want a little fjord sightseeing and a chance to see Oslo from a different angle. Visit the Astrup Fearnley Museum This is an exciting musem of modern art, located on the Tjuvholmen, near Aker Brygge. You can see works by for instance Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons and Frans Widerberg, and in August they have an exhibition that shows contemporary Chinese art, called “Chinese Summer”.

Visit the Norwegian House of Photography They have different photo exhibitions throughout the year. Visit the Munch Museum See the famous works of Edvard Munch, including The Scream. Tip no.13 The view from Kongsveien in Oslo. This is the perfect place to chill out, clear your mind or enjoy your lunch. The view over the city is amazing. You can just sit back and watch the ships and boats roll in and out of port. You get a great view down at the Operahouse and the north part of downtown. Pack a nice lunchbasket, I’d recommend fresh warm bread whit brown cheese and ice cold milk, or just some cheese, crackers and a bottle of red wine and enjoy the sunset. 34

Tip no.14 Dear Lana del Rey! Since you are known as a vintage lover and fashionista, you should check out FJONG. It is a web-based platform (www.fjong.co) as well as a physical location at Skillebekk where women can rent, and rent out designer clothing and bags. They are also collaborating with major designers and brands in Norway such as Holzweiler, FWSS and byTiMo. The ambition of FJONG is to give more women access to a larger wardrobe without increasing their budget or closet, and without causing any more harm on mother earth.

TIGER RECORD STORE Hammersborggata 18 Independent record store with lots of local music and imports from the best foreign labels. Tiger’s focus is on underground music, punk and diy-culture.
RÅKK OG RÅLLS Stortingsgata 8 Oslo’s biggest second hand record shop. Large enough to spend your whole day there. And you should! There’s a lot of collectors items to be found.
