BR!GHT background
, Brunei’s Innovative Generation, is a BEDB initiative that aims to champion a creative class amongst the youth and local talents. By providing new opportunities for creative and innovative ideas, the objective is to identify new talents for incubation as well as to encourage original locally produced ideas and designs. In collaboration with iCentre and the Knowledge Hub that form the Anggerek Desa Technology Park, BR!GHT will consist of a series of activities and contests that will run throughout the year, encompassing 1-3D art, video, graphic and motion design contests as well as creative advertising, PSA contests and inspirational talks. 3

who may enter?
The Contest is open to all artists and art students. Participants may enter individually or in a group of artists. Entry to this contest is FREE! Artists can download the Contest info-pack at www.bedb.com.bn
creative idea Artists are to propose an art-piece that covers most or all of the selected walls at the Knowledge Hub. Artists are to interpret the words ‘Knowledge, Research and Development’.

how to enter BR!GHT will begin registering artists for the Contest on Friday 4th November 2011. rules of entry Only artwork produced in Brunei Darussalam can be entered. Proposed artwork can be produced through creative soft-wares (Adobe Photoshop/ Illustrator) but the artist (if chosen as winner) must be able to replicate the design. Entrants are allowed to submit as many proposals as they wish. The Contest will begin accepting proposals on Tuesday 15th November 2011. Last day for submission will be no later than 3PM Monday 5th November 2011. 5
contest briefing There will be a contest briefing and tour around the Knowledge Hub on Monday 14th November 2011. Artists are encouraged to bring their drawing boards, measuring tapes and cameras. Wall details Painting should cover most or all of the wall space. Wall is textured. The art piece must incorporate (or work around) the windows and wall pillars. Artists may also propose to paint the two adjacent pillars. *Actual walls

submission criteria & checklist Art piece on paper/board Mounted on black card. Size larger than A2 (*flexible) May use any art material for the proposal (acrylics, water colour, pencils, spray paint) but artist/s must specify the art materials to be used for the actual wall painting.
Box of Details to be pasted bottom right hand side corner of the art piece.
Art piece to be enclosed.
Submitted to Reception of BEDB Headquarters, Block 2K Jalan Ong Sum Ping no later than 3PM Monday 5th December.
Artist/s must sign submission form at Reception.

judging criteria First round of voting will be done by a panel of judges made up of Knowledge Hub Tenants, BEDB and sponsors to narrow down to top 10 entries. Top 10 entries will be Showcased at the Knowledge Hub on Friday 16th December 2011 until Monday 16th January 2012. Public may begin voting through iCentre’s online judging system throughout the Showcase period and accounts for 50% of the votes. *The weblink will be made available closer to the date.
Other 50% votes will be through a 2nd round of voting from the panel. Artwork will be judged on artistic merit, creativity and ability to express the themes, ‘Knowledge, Research, Development’.

showcase exhibition Top 10 entries will be Showcased in an Exhibition at the Knowledge Hub on Friday 16th December 2011 until Monday, 16th January 2012. The winner/s will be announced on Friday the 20th of January 2012.
final artwork The Winner/s will have 6 weeks to replicate the proposed art-piece onto the selected walls. The Winner/s may invite friends, family and other artists to join in painting the walls. Winner/s will submit: A detailed itemized list of the materials to be used (BEBD and Standard Chartered will sponsor these items up to a cap.)
