Business Progress December 2013
On November 27th, 2013 the Prince Albert & District Chamber of Commerce hosted a round table discussion on Labour issues in Prince Albert. Many local businesses were in attendance to hear a presentation from Amanada Parenteau the Manager at the Prince Albert YWCA Regional Newcomers Centre. Many topics were covered including hiring, retention and training. Positive connections were made to further employment difficulties in the region of Prince Albert. With the success of this round table discussion another is to be planned in spring 2014.
A Message from the CEO~ Merle Lacert Hello Members The Christmas season is upon us and with it comes a new year. I would like to offer some reflection on the chambers past year and the various activities we were engaged in. The Prince Albert Chamber hosted various luncheons, and events such as round table discussions on Labour, reviewed the Cities taxation model and provided recommendations that support increased competitiveness. We hosted workshops such as Productivity 101, WCB and the Chambers own tips & tricks workshops on marketing and branding. The Chambers greatest strength is that of a connector and through this role we assisted in bringing various groups together to complete discussions. Examples of this include the many meetings we competed with community stakeholders that assisted the Chamber in being aware of current challenges and opportunities that they faced. This included groups such as health care, education, City administration, and many local business representatives. Another great example of leveraging our relationships is the various opportunities we seek to bring to our region such as hosting meetings to gain insights into foreign investment opportunities, or meetings to discuss what pre-conditions exists in
