OVER VIEW – JULY 2018 In the month, as many as 18 terrorist attacks took place in Pakistan, which claimed the lives of 239 people, and wounded 369 others. These attacks also included Three (03) suicide blasts, which took place in Peshawar, Mastung and Quetta. Those killed in terrorist attacks in July included 216 civilians, 14 LEA personals, and 09 terrorist. Highest number of terrorist attacks and consequent casualties for any one region of Pakistan was reported from Balochistan.

North Waziristan

Two personnel of the Khasadar force were killed and another and a government official injured after their vehicle was attacked by terrorists in North Waziristan in northwest Pakistan.

Awaran, Balochistan

As many as six security personnel were martyred and two others were injured on Monday as a result of a rocket attack by unidentified armed men in Awaran district. According to the media reports, while a bomb disposal team was searching the Kure area located 30 kilometres from Tehsil Mashkay area of Awaran, some unidentified armed men launched a rocket from the nearby mountains that landed and exploded.

Toba Nokani (Dera Bugti)

At least two people were killed and five others injured when a vehicle struck a landmine. Levies sources said that a vehicle hit a landmine planted by unknown miscreants in Toba Nokani area of Dera Bugti.

Dera Bugti, Balochistan

A bomb detonated by remote control killed three workers doing a survey for a local oil exploration company near the town of Dera Bugti in the Pakistani province of Balochistan. Six others were injured in the incident.

Bannu, KPK

Eight people, including a Muttahida Majlis-eAmal candidate for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly constituency PK-89, were injured in a roadside bomb blast in Bannu in northern Pakistan.

Peshawar

A suicide bombing at an election rally in the north western Pakistani city of Peshawar killed at least 22 people, including prominent local politician Haroon Bilour. The attack at a campaign event organised by the Awami National Party also injured at least 75 people.

Awami National Party (ANP) leader Daud Khan Achakzai narrowly escaped death on Monday morning when armed men shot and injured him in Chaman. The former senator received two gunshot wounds on his right arm when four unidentified men opened fire at him at a guesthouse he was staying in the Qila Abdullah area. The attackers fled the crime scene leaving the leader injured.

Security forces on Monday conducted intelligence-based operations (IBO) in Ghazi Mountains astride Sibi – Kohlu Road and Awaran, Balochistan and killed four terrorists.

Security forces have killed the mastermind of the Mastung suicide bombing — which claimed 149 lives, including that of Balochistan Awami Party leader Nawabzada Siraj Raisani — in an operation in the hilly area of Kalat district.

A suicide bombing in Kulachi in the Dera Ismail Khan district (KPK) killed PTI candidate Ikramullah Gandapur , running for a seat in the provincial assembly, his driver and a guard and injured three other people.

Leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) minister, Akram Khan Durrani, on Sunday barely escaped an attack on his life in Bannu less than 10 days after he survived a similar attempt. The JUI-F leader, who is also a Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) candidate for NA-35, was on his way to address a political convention when he was attacked in the Basia Kheil area of Bannu when shots were fired at his vehicle by unidentified suspects, who escaped after the attack.

20 people were injured in a blast that took place at an electoral office of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) here on Sunday. According to the police, the blast resulted in a hand grenade attack. However, no one has claimed the responsibility for the explosion.
