By JOHN RYAN THIS is the sort of scene that has horrified staff at the schools along Sheraton Road. Principals have told Dubbo Photo News that changes made to drop-off points by Dubbo Regional Council – without consultation – are putting the lives of children at risk. A mixture of 3000 staff and students, parents with few dropping-off points, U-turning traffic and dozens of quarry trucks make for a potentially deadly mix. PHOTO: DUBBO PHOTO NEWS/KEN SMITH.
E N O Z R E DANG “If it wasn’t for our parents’ concerns for safety, our kids would be skittled everywhere.” – Dubbo Christian School deputy principal Leighton Brown.
“It’s a very volatile situation, and it’s even worse in any sort of wet weather where you get more people driving students to school, so there’s more traffic in even more dangerous conditions.” – Fr Greg Kennedy, Dubbo Parish Priest
“I’m really concerned council haven’t taken the time to come and consult with the four schools here in Sheraton Road to try and come up with a solution that ensures the safety of all participants of the road, the traffic – as you can see here, is just insane.” – St Johns College principal Nicole Morton
