The fear and uncertainty that defined the year 2020 was felt on global, national, local and personal level. Our businesses had to deal with lockdowns and re-openings, ever-changing guidelines and shifting regulations. The remarkable and inspirational reaction from the businesses and professionals demonstrated incredible perseverance, compassion, community loyalty and unity. Following the protocols was not easy, but it was done for the sake of everyone in the region– both business-wise and for community well-being. The Readers’ Choice Awards are a representation of that community unity. The categories, nominations, winners, and publication are bigger than ever in this 2020 edition. It is great to see readers’ champion and show appreciation for their favorite local businesses and service providers, whom they’ve come to rely upon and trust. Even more inspiring than each of the winner’s tenacity to stay afloat in 2020 was their concern and support in keeping our community thriving and safe. What do you love most about having your business in this community? I formerly practiced in Marion for 8 years and moved to Florida for a short period in 2018. I missed my patients and Southern Illinois. Since returning and starting at Integrated Health so many of my former patients have returned to me. I love the small town feel and really getting to know the people I provide care to. How do you build trust with clients (or patients, customers)? Always listening and educating them on their illness and all possible treatment options. I try to normalize the act of seeking mental health treatment and reduce the stigma associated with getting help.
