What is Money Smart Week? “A penny saved is a penny earned” is often attributed to Benjamin Franklin though he never said it. What he did say, however, is that “an investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” That’s the premise behind Money Smart Week. While investing some of your time in topics that have meaning to your life, you can reap financial rewards in applying the knowledge you have gained. Money Smart Week, April 23-30, is a national public awareness campaign coordinated by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to help individuals and families better manage their personal finances. Bloomington-Normal hosts more than 75 free classes on different dates, times and locations to fit into your busy schedule. Pick a topic….almost any topic, and

we have classes to fit your needs. Want to learn how to combat rising food costs? Check! Need to get your credit reports in order? Check! How about finding money for education? Check! We have classes for kids and for adults teaching personal finance to kids. Want to buy or sell a house? We’ve got you covered. Want to learn about wills, trusts, funeral pre-planning and estate planning? Super! Join our classes! All classes are free and taught by professionals, and your neighbors, in McLean County. These aren’t sales pitches – they are truly educational opportunities created just for you. Classes are clustered at several different locations so you can effortlessly attend as many classes as you would like. Some classes will be repeated at various times for your convenience. In-

vesting your time in financial knowledge has never been cheaper or easier! Money Smart Week takes a lot of planning to create programs that are timely and informative. We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the Money Smart Week partners and sponsors.
