EDITOR’S MESSAGE:

Hello everyone! It’s the start of a new year, which means the start of new service projects! In this issue, I will be talking about an event that most members probably do not know about. As you all may have guessed, it is associated with the Harlem Wizards! Even though members were not able to volunteer due to the volunteer limit, I hope you will have fun reading about it! Sincerely, Yang Fu, 2014-2015 Editor

Happy February, PHS Key Club! In January, your officers participated in the Harlem Wizards basketball game, an event where the PTA needed a few volunteers to help sell raffle tickets, concessions, and check for tickets. We had a fun time observing all the tricks and theatricality of the players! In February, we'll be electing new officers for the 2015-2016 service year, so if you are a freshman, sophomore, or junior passionate about Key Club, I encourage you to learn more about available positions and sign up to run! Everyone interested will have to fill out a form of interest and present a short 1-2 minute speech detailing why the club should vote for you. Feel free to ask any current officers about their positions! The new officers will begin their terms after District Convention, which is an annual state-wide event held at Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch, New Jersey, where all of the state's clubs gather to celebrate and review this year's accomplishments, win awards, meet the District Board, elect a new board, and motivate each other for the new service year. There will be guest speakers, workshops for

specific officer positions and interests, and two dances-one formal and informal. This is a weekend event from March 27-29 to spend by the beach with friends, meet new people, and learn more about Key Club on the district level. PHS can only take a limited number of people, so it will be first come first serve. This has been one of my personal favorite events of the year, since I was a freshman, so don’t miss out! We will provide more information on how to sign up soon, after officer elections take place. We will also be having a Chipotle Night to fundraise for the Eliminate Project on Tuesday, February 10th, throughout the day. 50% of the profit will go towards saving mothers and their babies suffering from maternal neo-natal tetanus, so take your friends and our Key Club flyer and grab a burrito bowl at Chipotle!! Yours in Caring and Service, Lizzie Tu 2014-2015 PHS Key Club President

On Saturday, January 17th, the Key Club officers had the privilege of helping out the local community by volunteering at the Harlem Wizards basketball game, which took place at Parsippany High School. Key Club officers were in charge of keeping track of raffle tickets, distributing kids’ tattoos to the children, and making sure that those that had tickets were safely seated. It was an honor to watch such an event come to fruition-it’s an event none will forget! :)
