EDITOR’S MESSAGE: Hallo! Welcome to PHS Key Club’s official newsletter, the Keynote. It’s always refreshing to start of with a new service year, and in this edition, you’ll get to know the officers better! This September, we've gotten off to a great start, having events like the Fall Festival. I hope you’ll love Key Club more and more as the service year goes on and as always, happy reading! Yang Fu, 2014-2015 Editor

Welcome, new and old members, to the 2014-2015 service year! We have a lot of exciting events coming in the near future, including Halloween at the High, Parsippany Daycare visits, canning, and fundraisers! We've already had a very successful Fall Festival-thanks to everyone who came to face -paint and tattoo the kids; we raised $250 to help save babies and their mothers! If you have any ideas for successful service events or fundraisers, definitely let one of the officers know. Key Club is a great way to meet new people and help others with your friends, so get involved! Lizzie Tu, 2014-2015 PHS Key Club President

BY AMANDA CHEN | GENERAL MEMBER

On September 21, the PHS Key Club helped out at Fall Rally. In the KC booth, we offered face painting and temporary tattoos, and collected donations for the Eliminate Project. A number of us had come to Fall Rally when we were younger, and we genuinely gave back to our community. Thanks to everyone who came to help and make Parsippany a better place!

PRESIDENT: LIZZIE TU Hellllo everyone, I'm Lizzie and I'm the club president. The president must preside over both officer and general meetings and create agendas to discuss plans for events. She/he works with the advisors and officers, who, together, create plans for fundraising and service and make sure that everything functions smoothly. It is a very time-consuming, proactive position, but very, very worthwhile--a genuinely rewarding experience to see all the club's hard work pay off in helping others. As for myself, I'm currently a senior and I've been in Key Club for four years. I'm usually quite busy but I enjoy eating, sleeping, doing a lot of nothing, and live a pretty sedentary life in my free time. Feel free to ask me any questions!

VP: SAMUEL WU Hi everyone, congrats on making one of your best high school choices by joining Key Club! I'm Sam and I'll be one of your Vice-Presidents for the year. As Vice President, I am responsible for filling in for the president when she is unavailable and for helping all of the other officers with anything they need. Speaking from personal experience, Key Club is truly the one of the best clubs you can ever be a part of. Everyone in our club has made a difference in society and have made great memories. Not only do we have a blast at events such as Fall Rally, Halloween at the High, Coffee House, and District Convention, we also get to help people in our local as well as international community. I look forward to seeing all of you at our future events!

VP: HENRY SHEN Hello. Salutations. My name is Henry Shen and I am the other vice president. The VP is like the Swiss army knife, the free floating electron, the bouncer of the new and exclusive club in New York that will throw you out if you don't pay your dues (okay, maybe not that extreme). But my main job is to assist to the president, the club, and the general members wherever possible. The VPs are the props to the scrumhalf (if you've ever played rugby, you know what this is). I love puns, podcasts, and using parentheticals (if you haven't noticed) in my sentence structure. Key Club is a club about service for the greater good. And if you look close enough, you will see that the people and organizations you help are grateful for what you do and are delightful themselves. Here is to a great service year. Regards, Henry

RECORDING SECRETARY: EMILY WENG Hi, I'm Emily Weng, and I'm a senior. In Key Club, I am the Recording Secretary, and as Recording Secretary, I am in charge of hours; if you have any questions about your hours, feel free to come talk to me! A fun fact about me is that I once marathon-ed four seasons of a TV show in five days two weeks before I took the SATs. (Advice: don't do that!)

CORRESPONDING SECRETARY: CHRIS YANG I’m a senior who's been in key club for all four years. I'm the corresponding secretary. I enjoy being in key club because it's a great opportunity for me to give back to the community as well as see the smiles on the faces of people who we help.

TREASURER: WINSTON YEH Hi guys, my name's Winston Yeh and as most of you guys know, I’m this year's Key Club treasurer! I'm a senior and am good with handling money, so don't worry about me losing any of it ! I’ve been in Key Club for 4 years, and I can't wait to be serving you guys as Treasurer for the 2014-2015 service year!

WEBMASTER: VIREN LAD My name is Viren Lad and I am a senior at Parsippany High School. During my free time, I usually tend to play basketball or football with my neighbors. Also, in the summer or during school breaks, my family and I enjoy visiting the surrounding mountains, such as the Poconos to hike and mountain bike.

An interesting fact about me is that I actually enjoy running to an extent. Finally, through this service year in Key Club, I hope to maintain and construct an effective website to help communicate our goals and events to our own members as well as others outside the school while also striving to get involved in the various Key Club events and activities around Parsippany High School and our town.

HISTORIAN: PRIYA LAD Hi Guys! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Priya Lad. I'm a sophomore and I am the Historian of Key Club which means I will be taking your pictures at every event, so smile for the camera! Some interesting facts about me are that I spend most of my time watching tv shows like Sherlock, Doctor Who etc. I also enjoying eating lots of food and sleeping when I am bored. I hope to see all you guys at the meeting and events. Have a fun year. (Note: This picture was requested by Priya.)

EDITOR: YANG FU Hallo all! I’m Yang, a current junior, and your Editor for the 2014-2015 Service Year! I make newsletters every month so that Key Clubbers do not miss any exciting news. :) This year marks my second year in Key Club and I am super duper excited! I hope to improve communications between officers and the club members through my newsletters, and make my publications more enjoyable. I enjoy Sherlock, looking at Pantone colors, sleeping, eating, and reading Naruto when Sasuke isn’t there.

LTG: ALEENA KAZMI Salutations Key Clubbers! My name is Aleena Kazmi and I am a Lieutenant Governor of the New Jersey District of Key Club. As LTG, I act as a liaison between six clubs and the New Jersey District Key Club. I make sure that clubs are doing their jobs, aid them when necessary, make sure officers are properly trained, and work with the District Board on state wide events. An interesting fact about me is that I’ve lived on three different continents.
