The 2017 Report We had a year full of change and events. We are so grateful to everyone who engaged with us in 2017. We are still a small non-profit so please know that we saw every gift given, every word of encouragement through social media and we noticed everyone who stopped by us at a booth or an event. The biggest change this year is our new CEO - Vanessa Caldera. She is such a gift to our organization. She if full of passion, has great new ideas and is a wonderful leader. Vanessa has volunteered with Passport 2 Freedom since 2013 and has been on every trip we’ve made to the favela slums as an organization. We believe she will do a great job leading our organization in 2018. We attended Green Fashion Week in Los Angeles and Las Vegas in the spring, and were able to share with many people about our work and connect with designers and artists. In the summer we attended the Urban Dance Festival in LA and hosted booths at movie viewings and concerts in the park. In the fall we hosted our first ever pop-up shop in Studio City. We absolutely loved having a space where people could come by and learn about our work and also purchase holiday gifts. We hope to do another pop-up shop in the future and hopefully one day have our very own flagship store. Some of you probably saw our Caring Crowd fundraising campaign, which was a huge success. We were able to raise $10,000 in 3 days thanks to this amazing platform and the matching program that they have, matching donations. We will be utilizing these funds to bring water filters, clean soil and seeds, art supplies, skateboards and more to the favela in April 2018. We are very excited to finally see the land we helped purchase and get an update on the building project. Right now we are waiting for some licences and permits. We hope to break ground on our building this summer. We are so thankful for all our staff, volunteers, donors and people who buy our apparel. We can NOT do what we do without YOU.
IN THE FIELD We have heard some great feedback from our leaders in the favela slum that are working tirelessly to help the children living there. They have helped bring education to the residents and our program is growing and flourishing. We are so excited for the building to hopefully happen this year. Follow us on Social Media for updates on what we’re up to. Know that your gifts are changing lives!
The 100% model We have been able to make our vision a reality. 100% of proceeds made through Apparel sales go directly to help prevent Human Trafficking. We help people living in the Slums/Favelas. How? We have found another way to cover our production and operating expenses. We rely on private donors, foundations, and sponsors to cover everything from apparel and accessories production costs to basic o ce systems costs. Our donors are some of the most dedicated. Their investment fuels our long-term mission, our ability to scale-up as an organization, and to continue our mission of using public sales of Apparel to go straight to the People in the Favelas. Our operations expenses are raised through donations and fundraising events by Passport 2 Freedom and its supporting foundations and organizations.
