De eerste Pastoe Wire is ontworpen in 1953 door Cees Braakman en Adriaan Dekker. Met draadstaal kon destijds tegen lage kosten een stoel gemaakt worden voor een grote doelgroep die naoorlogs beperkte middelen had voor luxe meubilair. Nu vallen de stoelen en krukken ons vooral op door de ogenschijnlijke tegenstelling van enerzijds een oersterk zitmeubel dat anderzijds volledig transparant is. Dat deze eigenschappen de collectie tot een design klassieker maken in het heden, hadden Cees en Adriaan slechts durven dromen. In deze folder vindt u de laatste verbeterde versie van de Pastoe Wire. We hebben de zit verbeterd en nieuwe kleuren toegevoegd. Daarnaast nodigen we u met deze folder uit om zelf uw unieke variant samen te stellen.
Het is ons opgevallen hoeveel mensen een band hebben met Pastoe. Vaak over meerdere generaties binnen een familie. Dat gebeurt als je al meer dan 100 jaar aan de weg en aan meubels timmert. Dat is een bijzondere erfenis die wij koesteren. We hebben, voor onze aanhang, een club opgericht en die noemen we Pastoe People. Een echte club waar je, als Pastoeliefhebber lid van wilt worden. The Pastoe Wire was designed in 1953 by Cees Braakman and Adriaan Dekker. After the Second World War, when construction materials were in short supply, steel wire proved to be a cheap, functional and strong means of making chairs. Living rooms tended to be small and the transparent chair needed less space than traditional furniture. The chairs were a great success and fashionable among young families, who considered them a modern, rebellious statement. This edition is the new and improved Wire. The seat has been adapted to current sensibilities and a wide range of colours is now available, so you can create the rebellious combination of your choice.
It struck us how many people have an association with Pastoe. Often over several generations within a family. That happens when you produce furniture for more than 100 years. That is an extraordinary legacy that we cherish. For our supporters we founded a club which we call Pastoe People. A real club you want to be a member of as Pastoe fan. Der Pastoe Wire wurde 1953 von Cees Braakman und Adriaan Dekker entworfen. Mit Stahldraht ließ sich nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, in einer Zeit großer Materialknappheit, zu niedrigen Kosten ein funktionaler und stabiler Stuhl herstellen. Die Wohnzimmer waren damals klein und der transparente Stuhl stand weniger im Weg als die traditionellen klassischen Möbel aus Holz. Das Modell wurde ein großer Erfolg und war sehr beliebt bei jungen Familien, die diesen Stuhl als ein modernes, rebellisches Statement sahen. Der Wire ist nun in einer neuen und verbesserten Fassung erhältlich. Die Sitzfläche ist an die modernen Anforderungen angepasst worden und die Farbpalette wurde erweitert. Damit können Sie heute ganz eigene, revolutionäre Kombinationen zusammenstellen.
Haben Sie eine besondere Beziehung zu Pastoe? Damit sind Sie nicht allein. Pastoe ist für viele eine vertraute Marke, oftmals schon seit mehreren Generationen innerhalb einer Familie. La Pastoe Wire è stata creata nel 1953 da Cees Braakman e Adriaan Dekker. In un tempo in cui i materiali scarseggiavano, dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, i fili d’acciaio permisero di realizzare una sedia funzionale e resistente ad un costo contenuto. I salotti erano piccoli e la sedia trasparente dava meno nell’occhio rispetto ad un mobile tradizionale. Fu un grande successo, acquistato soprattutto dalle giovani coppie, per cui la sedia era un simbolo di modernità e ribellione. Presentiamo ora la versione nuova e migliorata della Wire. La seduta è stata adeguata alle esigenze del nostro tempo ed abbiamo aggiunto una gamma di colori. La invitiamo a creare la sua combinazione ribelle, unica e personale.

Le Wire de Pastoe a été conçu par Cees Braakman et Adriaan Dekker en 1953. La période d’après-guerre étant marquée par une forte pénurie de matériaux, le fil d’acier permettait de fabriquer à peu de frais des fauteuils solides et fonctionnels. Les salons étaient petits et le fauteuil transparent occupait moins de place que les meubles traditionnels. Le fauteuil remporta un très vif succès, surtout auprès des jeunes couples pour qui il représentait un accessoire très original et quelque peu rebelle. Nous vous présentons ici la version améliorée du Wire: le siège a été adapté aux exigences de confort de notre époque et nous avons ajouté un large éventail de coloris. À vous maintenant de composer votre meuble anticonformiste, unique et personnel!
Nous nous sommes rendu compte qu’un grand nombre de personnes ont un lien privilégié avec les produits Pastoe. Il s’agit souvent de plusieurs générations de la même famille. Fabrics For the Wire collection we offer a wide variety of fabrics for you to customize your seater. We work with Camira and Kvadrat as main suppliers. Pastoe chooses Camira Advantage black and mineral as basic fabrics for chair, stool and lounge chair. Advantage is a monocolored plain weave fabric which means it is easy to combine with other materials in your interior and lasts for years. For our colored chairs and stools we suggest the more sophisticated Kvadrat Steelcut Trio 2. This fabric features an innovative weave, which gives the fabric a three-dimensional surface resembling small pyramids or steel points and, despite the complexity of the weave, a simple and precise expression. On the other side of this brochure you can find examples of seaters with Camira Advantage as well as with Kvadrat Steelcut trio 2. Fabrics, especially the more complex ones, are hard to experience printed on paper or show on a computer screen.
