MEMBERS' NIGHTS
URBAN EDGE CINEMA
s Only Member Once a month we'll be handing our cinema over to our members for a private members only screening. The film choice could be a new release, a cinema classic or a hidden gem. As a thank you to those of you who continue to support the cinema through purchasing memberships this is for you, and only you. The film's details will be emailed out directly to you, in advance, so keep your eyes peeled and thanks for the continued support!
Fancy yourself as a young film programmer? Know your Kurosawa from your Kubrik? Or just know a good film when you see one? Well why not join us on alteranate Tuesdays in Spring to review films, get a bit of an insight into the ins-and-outs of running a cinema and eat popcorn. Our Spring Urban Edge Cinema programme was pulled together by a group of 16-24 year olds, from Buxton, Chesterfield and Ilkeston so we're looking to add more local talent. Check our FB page for details.
REFUGEE NIGHTS
PRIVATE HIRES
We were scratching our heads wondering what we could do, as cinema owners, to try and help the plight of so many refugees seeking safety here in the UK. We don't see many in rural Derbyshire but we wanted to make that those who are here know they're welcome at The Northern Light Cinema. So, once a month, we'll be giving over the cinema to refugee groups to get together, enjoy a film together in their own language, to share their culture, food and friendship.
We’re living the dream having our very own cinema - but you can have part of the dream too with our range of hiring packages. We’re available to hire for private parties, celebration or works ‘do’s’, and with 52 seats in the auditorium and large bar area, we can offer a range of flexible hire packages with or without ‘in-house hospitality’. And don't forget members get 10% off! See our website for more details and rates.
Check our FB page for details.

FINd US
Wirksworth is tucked away in the Derbyshire Dales, a bit off the beaten track - but that’s the way we like it. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON NORTH END There is parking on Harrison Drive, at the railway station during the day and on the Market Place, Barmote Court (off Coldwell Street) and Wood Street car parks.
WIRKSWORTH
GOOD NEIGHBOURS North End is our favourite street in town. We live here, we work here, we tend to drink here too. That’s why we ask all our customers to help us minimise any disturbance on the street and help us be good neighbours. So if you arrive by car, we ask you not to park on North End itself, as lots of our neighbours rely on on-street parking. There’s plenty of parking elsewhere in town. If you smoke, we ask you to do so away from the cinema but also away from residential houses -
ACCESS there’s a handy bench across the road at the top of Greenway Croft. Finally, when you leave, please do so quietly as some of our neighbours are elderly and others have young children, who may have retired to bed by the time you leave.
Please let the Box Office know when booking tickets, should you need to reserve a wheelchair-user space. We have a hearing loop installed in the auditorium and are fully wheelchair accessible.
This will all help keep us in the good books with our neighbours - which is always a good thing. Thanks for your help!
