JULY&AUG19
WELCOME
As The Beatles once said “here comes the sun” so as we move into July and the giddy heights of summer, we’re happy to announce we have a brilliant array of films and events on offer, so come and cool down in the best cinema in town! Esteemed writer Richard Curtis and director Danny Boyle combine for Beatles-scored romantic comedy Yesterday, sure to be possibly the biggest British film of the year. We’ve also got 1920's set biopic Vita & Virginia starring Gemma Arterton as enigmatic socialite Vita Sackville West. The football season may be over, but worry not as you can still get your footy fix with a new documentary Diego Maradona, one my four programmer's picks for the summer. Schools kick out on 19th July and we’ve got a good run with Toy Story 4 to keep your little (or not so little) ones occupied, as well as a whole host of outdoor screenings. Remember our good news back in February? That our planning application had been accepted? To allow us to open up to passing trade and grow our audience even further? This means we’ve got to close our doors whilst we get the builders in for a bit, (17th Aug- 6th Sept) ready to open in time for the Wirksworth Festival, with longer opening hours, a brand spanking new cafe and deli as well as, yes… more films.
