IS LUBBOCK OUR ALAMO? The Line in Our Sand With Our Lives On The Line O

n March 2, 1836 Texas’ revolutionary government formally declared its Independence from Mexico.

REMEMBER THE ALAMO! You do remember the Alamo don’t ya?

For 13 days, from February 23 to March 6, 1836, approximately 3000 Mexican troops under the Command of Mexico President-General Santa Anna, surrounded the Alamo Mission in Bexar County, Texas near San Antonio. The estimated 185 American Texian soldiers in the Alamo were under the Command of Colonel William B. Travis.

The story has been told that when their defeat was certain just before the final battle on March 6, 1836 Colonel Travis

took out his sword and drew a line in the sand. He invited all those that would volunteer to remain in the Alamo and fight to their death in the defense of liberty to cross the line. Those that did not cross the line were free to leave the Alamo. All but one crossed the line.

We the People, whether it is the tyranny of King George in 1776 or the tyranny of Santa Anna in 1836 or the lawlessness of our day, there has always been and there will always be those tyrants who will try taking away our Creator-endowed unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Cancer, Democrats, and the cure... “Trumporubicin”

I

hate cancer! It took the lives of both my mother and my father, the latter when I was just 16. As an only child, his death changed my life in many profound ways. More recently, I have spent 74 days and nights in a hospital with my very best friend as she has confronted a sarcoma, an extremely aggressive and deadly variant of this disease head on and she has done it with faith, courage and perseverance that is both extraordinary and exemplary. She is now in a state of health that none of her doctors predicted or imagined.

One of the first of many drugs that she has taken was doxorubicin (Adriamycin) which is an extremely powerful form of chemotherapy that has proven successful at fighting cancer, especially when all other options have failed. This drug,

however, is not easily tolerated. When a patient chooses to “fight fire with fire,” they do so after their oncologist gives ample warning of the very significant side effects that may go along with its usage. This difficult choice then lies with the patient.

In many ways, there is a striking similarity between a patient confronting cancer and a country facing radical liberalism which has metastasized to the Democratic Party and has, like cancer, disguised itself until it is almost too late to stop it.

Like cancer, there are various strains... for example, h-Clinton, b-sanders, and the newly discovered a-ocasio-cortez insidious variation which has yet to be taken seriously.

Like cancer, if it is not stopped it can become systemic and threaten an end to life as we know it.

This is why we should be grateful for “trumporubicin.” At this time, it appears

to be the best known combatant in the fight against liberalism. And, interestingly, some of the side effects are also quite similar:

in and used to hurt Trump as much as possible. Shifty Schiff constantly talked about Trump colluding with Russia when he knew full well that it was Hillary who did the colluding.

Unfortunately, Shifty Schiff is now

Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, which gives him more power to engage in treasonous acts designed to take down a lawfully elected president.

The Russia collusion allegation has long been exposed for what it is—a lie paid for

by Democrats and then driven relentlessly by the Deep State.

Shifty Schiff now wants the Russia investigation thrown into an even higher, grinding gear. He wants the harassment against Trump to continue no matter how unjust and destructive. Shifty Schiff believes in turbo lies and overdrive.

t the end of January, Sam Taylor, a spokesman for the Texas secretary of state’s office, explained to the press “that his office used “our strongest possible matching criteria to make sure each of the matches was the same person.” He said that although county election chiefs were instructed Friday in a written advisory to treat the names as “WEAK matches” while they investigate, Taylor said it did not “mean the criteria used to match the names was weak,” reported the Associated Press.

Taylor is speaking about a “yearlong investigation of Texas voter rolls has

indicated that about 95,000 non-U.S. citizens might have improperly registered to vote, including about 58,000 who cast a ballot “in one or more Texas elections” since 1996,” according to an Austin American-Statesman report.

Lisa Wise, the election administrator in El Paso County along the U.S.-Mexico border, said she received a list of 4,100 potential non-citizens. She said her office would investigate, but that after a first scan she could tell all of the names wouldn’t hold up. Wise said that at naturalization ceremonies for new U.S. citizens, her office registers between 150 and 200 to people alone.

The Border: What the Establishment Press Won’t Tell You

flew to El Paso, Texas to see for myself what was going on at the border at the height of the partial government shutdown standoff between Pelosi/Schumer and President Donald Trump. I wanted to interview those on the ground who really knew; thus bypassing entirely the Republican press that said we were in a border crisis and the Democrat press that said we weren’t and that we do not need a wall. El Paso, over 800k population, and Juarez, Mexico, over 1.4M population (one city north of the border, the other south) seemed to be an ideal location to ask the experts.

This is what I learned. Mexican cartels, not the Mexican government, control entry into the United States. They are the de facto government south of the border.

Cartels have carved up the important crossing locations and migrants do not get into the United States without first paying at least $100 per person to the

controlling cartel. They enforce their rules.

Agents do not seek-out illegal aliens as they once did. Aliens come to them. Most

worried woman went to her gynecologist and said, “Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 year old and I’m pregnant again.

I don’t want kids so close together.”

The doctor said, “Ok and what do you want me to do?”

She said, “I want you to end my pregnancy, and I’m counting on your help with this.”

The doctor thought for a little while, and after some silence, he said to the woman, “I think I have a better solution for your problem. It’s less dangerous for you too.”

She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.

The doctor continued, “You see, in order for you not to have to take care of two babies at the same time, let’s kill the one in your arms. This way, you could

rest some before the other one is born. If we’re going to kill one of them, it doesn’t matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.”

The lady was horrified and said, “No doctor! How terrible! It’s a crime to kill a child!”

“I agree”, the doctor replied. “But you seemed to be okay with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.”

The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point.

He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that’s already been born and one that’s still in the womb.

The crime is the same!

America rejects socialism and would not become a socialist government. He further stated the pro-life self-evident truth that at conception the baby in the womb is a live person created in the image of God. While President Trump was saying these things, we conservatives watched in dismay as the cameras zoomed in on the faces of the Progressive Socialist Democrat Party* Congressional members. The chilling scowls of the Progressive Socialist Democrats sitting in the room was either one of cold-hearted seared conscience expressionlessness and or glaring evil-eyed contempt for truth, the man delivering it and the Republican Party and We the People.

With calloused indifference compounding defiant indignance the Progressive Socialist Democrats are against the virtuous principled reason of our Founding Fathers upon which they founded our Constitutional Republic Rule of Law in the spirit of 1776, the spirit of liberty.

The Progressive Socialist Democrats with their pro-abortion rage have become the party of the spirit of death. Without virtuous principled reason, the unprincipled

Progressive Socialist Democrats through their lawlessness lie steal obstruct and seek to destroy liberty and freedom at every opportunity.

Besides the absolute obstructionists hate mongering anti-Trump (anti-liberty and freedom) agenda of the Progressive Socialist Democrat Party, the horrifying infanticide lawlessness of full-term abortion is also being CELEBRATED by these Progressive Socialist Democrats. And passed into State law. With the Progressive Socialist Democrats glorying in what should be their shame, this lowest level of lawlessness corruption of abortion, full-term abortion is no different than the murdering of a human being through satanic ritual abuse.

The culture war battle lines have been drawn. The Constitutional Republic Rule of Law pro-life liberty forces of good incrementally being surrounded by the Progressive Socialist Democratic prodeath lawlessness forces of evil. True American Patriots, denial of this reality is not an option.

On February 24, 1836, in the chaos of Santa Anna’s siege of the Alamo, Colonel Travis smuggled out a letter that read:

the battlefield of the Alamo. It is the duty of the people to defend liberty against tyranny in every generation. Why? Because tomorrow hopes that today we have learned something from yesterday. Have you ever heard someone say; History repeats itself? Is that true? No. History does not repeat itself. History is linear. From the point of history’s beginning history is now and has always been moving to its end.

However, the self-evident truth is that human nature whether for good or evil, liberty or lawlessness repeats itself in every generation of history. Human nature without principled reason from virtue is like water. Water left to itself runs downhill seeking the lowest level. Human nature left to itself without principled virtuous reason runs downhill into the lowest level of corruption.

In President Trump State of The Union Address, he respectfully but unapologetically drew the line in the sand on the battlefield of our American family’s culture war of liberty versus lawlessness. President Trump firmly stated that

To the People of Texas and All Americans in the World….I shall never surrender or retreat….Victory or Death!”

“In the early morning of March 6, 1836, Santa Anna ordered his troops to storm the Alamo. Travis’ artillery decimated the first and then the second Mexican charge, but in just over an hour the Texans were overwhelmed, and the Alamo was taken.”

“Santa Anna had ordered that no prisoners be taken, and all the Texas and American Defenders were killed in brutal hand-to-hand fighting.”

And for what specific liberty and freedom purpose did these valiant true American patriots give it their all?

Alamo on January 19, 1836 realized that the fort’s captured cannons could not be removed before Santa Anna’s arrival, so he remained entrenched with his men.”

“By delaying Santa Anna’s forces, Colonel Bowie also reasoned, Sam Houston would have more time to raise an army large enough to repulse the Mexicans.”

We the People, what just happened at our 2018 Mid-term elections? The lawlessness Progressive Socialist Democrat Party regained control of the House of Representatives. And look at the chaos that has ensued ever since. And becoming increasingly chaotic even beginning on the day they were sworn in back in January.

We have between now and the 2020 elections to raise up an army of voters to repulse lawlessness in the 2020 elections.

What are we willing to do, to sacrifice in order to delay and or stop the advance of their lawlessness against our liberty; to keep the White House, restore a majority of true conservative American patriots to Congress in the House and Senate and our State and local governments?

Progressive Socialist Democratic utopian ideologies are designed to gain power and control by any means. They are continually being adopted at the National, State and local levels through unjust laws, codes, regulations and administrative agency in organizations and institutions both public and private. Through deception, these unjust precedents are increasingly building a cultural environment based on subjective emotionalism being devoid of the objective virtue of principled reason. The Progressive Socialist Democrats have become the Rule of Law unto themselves.

That somebody is us working together with principled reason to justly do all that we can do where we are with all that we have to delay and stop this Progressive Socialist Democratic Party cultural colony of tyrants eating away the structure of the liberty culture of our Constitutional Republic Rule of Law. We the people, at home, work, church, social, recreational, athletics, religious events, at school, as employers and employees as educators, media, entertainment, professionals, blue collar, white collar, retired collar, no collar, skilled in the trades, young and old will you do whatever you can in your sphere of influence to educate yourself and speak up boldly in support of the true biblically conservative liberty and freedom principles upon which our country was founded as revealed in our Documents of Freedom, The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and the Bill of Rights?

If you are a politician at any level will you do the same and boldly stand on the self-evident truths of the laws of nature and nature’s God and that we are endowed by our Creator, not government, with certain unalienable rights such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

And the government is to govern within the boundaries of its limited authority by the consent of the people.

Pastors, Priests, Religious Faith-Based Leaders, will you come out from behind your pulpits in the enclosed security of

your sanctuary and bring the true message of liberty and freedom outside the walls and into the public square? Or will you remain inside because the government has censored you with their 501(c) (3)? Augustine said: “An unjust law is no law at all.” When will you stand for justice? If not now, when? Time is of the essence.

Shouting “Remember the Alamo!” the Texans defeated the Mexicans and captured Santa Anna. We the People, during these two years between the mid-term elections of 2018 and the 2020 elections, we must be relentlessly on the true liberty and freedom offensive daily through election day Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

With the line in the sand with our life on the line it is our patriotic duty to repulse lawlessness and elect true American patriots into office who will abide by our Founding Documents of Freedom being the structure of our Constitutional Republic Rule of Law securing in freedom our true American culture of Life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness.

ALIFORNIA: The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail.

A coyote jumps out and attacks the

Governor’s dog, then bites the Governor. The Governor starts to intervene but reflects upon the movie “Bambi” and then realizes he should stop because the

coyote is only doing what is natural. He calls animal control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the state $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for

Governor goes to the hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged. The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.

The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a “coyote awareness program” for residents of the area. The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world. The Governor’s security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The state spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training for the nature of coyotes.

PETA protests the coyote’s relocation and files a $5 million suit against the state.

TEXAS: The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog. The Governor shoots the coyote with his state-issued pistol and keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge. The buzzards eat the dead coyote.

And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Texas is not.

Hands…

G

ra ndpa, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench. He didn’t move, just sat with his head down staring at his hands. When I sat down beside him he didn’t acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if he was okay.

Finally, not really wanting to disturb him but wanting to check on him at the same time, I asked him if he was okay. He raised his head and looked at me and smiled.

Yes, I’m fine, thank you for asking, he said in a clear strong voice.

I didn’t mean to disturb you, grandpa, but you were just sitting here staring at your hands and I wanted to make sure you were okay, I explained to him.

Have you ever looked at your hands he asked? I mean really looked at your hands?

I slowly opened my hands and stared down at them. I turned them over, palms up and then palms down. No, I guess I had never really looked at my hands as I tried to figure out the point he was making.

Grandpa smiled and related this story: “Stop and think for a moment about the hands you have, how they have served you well throughout your years. These hands, though wrinkled, shriveled and weak have been the tools I have used all my life to reach out and grab and embrace life.

They braced and caught my fall when as a toddler I crashed upon the floor. They put food in my mouth and clothes on my back. As a child, my mother taught me to fold them in prayer. They tied my shoes and pulled on my boots.

They dried the tears of my children and caressed the love of my life.

They held my rifle and wiped my tears when I went off to war. They have been dirty, scraped and raw, swollen and bent.

They were uneasy and clumsy when I tried to hold my newborn daughter.

Decorated with my wedding band, they showed the world that I was married and loved someone special. They wrote the letters home and trembled and shook when I buried my parents and spouse and walked my daughter down the aisle.

Yet, they were strong and sure when I dug my buddy out of a foxhole and lifted a plow off of my best friend’s foot. They have held children, consoled neighbors, and shook in fists of anger when I didn’t understand. They have covered my face, combed my hair, and washed and cleansed the rest of my body. They have been sticky and wet, bent and broken, dried and raw. And to this day when not much of anything else of me works really well these hands hold me up, lay me down, and again continue to fold in prayer. These hands are the mark of where I’ve been and the ruggedness of my life.

But more importantly it will be these hands that God will reach out and take when he leads me home. And with my hands He will lift me to His side and there I will use these hands to touch His face.”

I will never look at my hands the same again. But I remember God reached out and took my grandpa’s hands and led him home.

When my hands are hurt or sore or when I stroke the face of my children and wife, I thank grandpa. I know he has been stroked and caressed and held by the hands of God. I, too, want to touch the face of God and feel his hands upon my face.

The Americans With No Abilities Act (ANAA)

emocratic Senators are considering introducing legislation that will provide new benefits for many more Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act is being hailed as a major legislative goal by advocates of the millions of Americans who lack any real skills and ambition.

“Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in society,” said California Sen. Kamala Harris. “We can no longer stand by and allow People of Inability (POI) to be ridiculed and passed

over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply because they have some idea of what they are doing.”

In a Capitol Hill press conference, Nancy Pelosi pointed to the success of the U.S. Postal Service, which has a long-standing policy of providing opportunity without regard to performance. At the state government level, the Department of Motor Vehicles also has an excellent record of hiring Persons with No Ability (63 percent).

I think everyone who lives in America should honor the flag.

Many people fight every day for us.

American has many different kinds of freedom. We have many opportunities as well. I honor the flag for all of these reasons.

First, I honor the American flag because of the opportunities I have. Not many women in other countries get the opportunity to earn an education or a job, only men can do all of that! That is so wrong. In American, women get a chance to do those amazing things!

I respect the American flag because of the many opportunities we get.

Secondly, I honor the American flag because of the freedom I have. I have the freedom to speak for myself, and I love to do so because so many people have different opinions. People often disagree, so I enjoy the chance to share my beliefs and speak my mind. I also get the freedom to do many things and think for myself, but I obviously can’t do anything illegal and I must follow the

laws. I pay much respect to the American flag because of these freedoms.

Lastly, I honor the American flag because of the many people that fight for me every day. Many people leave their families to fight and serve for people they don’t even know! Many women, men, and children worry if their family member is coming back home, or if they are safe. These brave soldiers could be spending time with their families, yet they choose to fight for us far away from home. They risk their lives for our freedom and opportunities. I respect the American flag because of these brave people.

I will always choose to honor the American flag and will defend it with my words and actions. I will honor it because of the opportunities others and myself get, the freedom we share, and the people who risk their own lives to protect us. I respect the American flag because it symbolizes more than just stars and stripes; it represents a country I am proud to call my home.

“This new law should be really good for people like me. I’ll finally have job security.” With the passage of this bill,

Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens will finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Said Sen. Chuck Schumer: “As a senator with no abilities, I believe the same privileges that elected officials enjoy ought to be extended to every American with no abilities. It is our duty as lawmakers to provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or her inadequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great nation and a good salary for doing so.”

How Low Will My Old Democrats Go to Gain Power?

es, I once was a Democrat, but to quote Winston Churchill, “If you are not liberal in your 20’s you don’t have a heart, but if you are not conservative by age 40, you don’t have a brain.” I switched to being conservative in my 30’s once I began doing my own tax work. One of the few times Nancy Pelosi stood at the State of the Union speech was when Trump mentioned America would never be socialist. I think everybody but Burney Sanders stood on that…maybe Ms. Ocasio-Cortez also remained seated, I’m not sure. At least we are fairly safe under president Trump, but under the next liberal democrat, who knows.

The thing that bothered me most is, all those women in white sitting after Trump denounced late-term abortion that could include killing the baby after they are delivered. Anyone accepting that procedure is willing to commit murder, because by definition, that is what it is.

As for the argument that a woman should have reproductive rights concerning her own body, she already has that right. The PILL was going to free women to be just as promiscuous as men, and life would be wonderful. But something happened on

the way to the bedroom, women forgot to take the PILL, or they wanted to force the man into marriage. In any case, babies were conceived, and some women began to claim, it was not their fault. In 1973, the year my daughter was born, Roe v Wade was the supreme court ruling on abortion, and liberals began shouting it is now the law-of-the-land! Sorry liberals, our Constitution says, ALL legislative (law-making) action shall be vested in the Congress, not the court.

WHAT? REALLY? Roe v Wade is NOT law? Definitely not! It is a ruling in a particular case that liberals jumped on as a “landmark law” but courts can’t make law. Therefore, it is not law. Citizens have a right to ask what LAW they broke, and this points out just how far outside original-intent liberal courts have moved.

Judges know Constitutionally they can’t make law, but they love the power it gives them. They make law by rulings, then force those ruling on citizens as if they are law. Unfortunately for the court, only Congress can make laws. This becomes a catch-22 legal matter liberals hope citizens NEVER figure out. Citizens can be taken to court when they ignore an ordinance or city-wide ban like fireworks in town. The problem here is, A

LIFE IS INVOLVED, so abortion goes way past fireworks or parking in a no parking zone. The supreme court is now the “moral judge” of American society, and it appears, they don’t care what Jews, Christians, or any faith-based group think. They and only THEY are the judge!

If you think I am stretching facts, look at what removing the Bible from schools did. In the 1960’s, that happened because the court found the Bible offended some, and schools are public places, and the Constitution says, Congress shall make no law respecting a religion. That book was the basis of our laws, but the court said they had the power to remove it. As a background reference, Thomas Jefferson held church services in government buildings while he was president. The Congress “officially” recommended the Bible be taught in schools. Just how arrogant is a court, when it thinks “it” understands what the Founders intended, better than those who wrote it? Liberals have been toying with socialism for decades with welfare, AFDC payments, free medical care, food stamps, etc. then they got Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to admit she preferred socialism. So, liberal democrats need to take $$$ from those who earn it to give to those THEY

Increasing foreign oil imports causes all federal tax payers to: (A) PAY for foreign oil imports which cost hundreds of billions of dollars annually; (B) ENDANGER national security by increasing foreign oil imports; and (C) ACT against the USA and for foreigners.

Actual foreign oil price is reported on eia.com in 2017, the actual foreign oil price averaged $48.50 per barrel.

Multiply the two and get $141 billion cost of foreign oil in 2017. It is much higher in 2018 when data becomes available. Get angry and upset over how the Democratic platform of “Reduce Oil” is causing you money. Then, do something about it.

The Real “State of the Union”

hen you consider what the left is suggesting is needed, like “why pay a middle man for health insurance where profit is their objective” you know it is a losing battle for capitalism and thus the end of America. Why? Not because the socialist left is wrong, rather because so many uneducated young people will be voting for those Democrats’ and their socialist solutions.

The fact that Socialist economic philosophy has failed in history, the youth have no understanding of history of any kind.

Ok, so it is the collective fault of conservatives allowing Democrats to take charge of our education system. Yes, we’ve been sleeping or watching football, basketball or playing too many rounds of golf to be engaged in guiding our schools on what should be taught.

Too many of us, like me, assumed our kids were being taught the same things we’ve been taught - since our founding I have to add.

Yep, I’m as guilty as any conservative reading this. Here’s a brief refresher on

what Conservatives believe versus what Liberal socialists believe.

Conservatives believe in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. Believe the role of government should be to provide people the freedom necessary to pursue their own goals.

Conservative policies generally emphasize empowerment of the individual to solve problems.

Liberals believe in government action to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all. It is the duty of the government to alleviate social ills and to protect civil liberties and individual and human rights. Believe the role of the government should be to guarantee that no one is in need. Liberal policies generally emphasize the need for the government to solve problems.

So, how has that been working out for our Republic?

Has our public education been teaching socialism and capitalism? I seriously doubt it.

Definitions: Socialism is an economic and political

system in which the government controls all means of production.

Capitalism is an economic and political system in which property, business, and industry are owned by private individuals and not by the state.

The Goal of each.

Socialism: Economic and social equality through redistribution of wealth.

Capitalism: Create wealth through private ownership of property and businesses.

Terms defined: Socialism: Centralized government planning, command economy, planned economy, wealth redistribution, price controls, social equality, nationalizing of production, expansion of the welfare state Capitalism: Free markets, free enterprise, supply and demand, laissez-faire, private property rights, competition, incentive What can we do now? Is it too late to reverse the errors of the past in NOT teaching our youth about the facts of life and most importantly the TRUTH? Clearly, our youth are not equipped with knowledge and thus rely on emotions alone.

Heck, we know there are endless stories of bleeding-heart liberals to

keep the youth dumbed down. The media, print and video, are replete with heart-wrenching visuals of mistreated animals (while we murder babies in and now out of the womb). We see a world of endless stories of poverty the left expect “we the people” of America to donate 70-100% of our wealth (earned through innovation and hard work) to those governments around the world who will misuse those American assets.

Yep, what the heck are we thinking as a society? When America is bankrupt the rest of the world will continue to sink even further into the depths of despair. The light on the hill will have been extinguished.

God help us.

So what?

Is it somehow less scandalous if the 58,000 number shrinks by half to only 29,000 non-citizen illegal voters? Heck, even if the number were reduced by 75% it would still be 14,500 illegal ballots that canceled out the legal vote of 14,500 Texas citizens.

Even if, after tighter data analysis at the local level, it turns out the top-level analysis was 90% overstated that would still be 5,800 illegal votes cast. Exactly why would that number not still be recognized as unacceptably scandalous, especially given how many Texas races are decided by fewer than a hundred votes?

Why a Border Wall, Gun Rights & the Right to Life are Vital to Winning the War

ll available information reveals leaders of the Democrat party and other Marxist organizations, as well as the North American Islamic Movement, seeks to bring down the U.S. government.

In professionally analyzing these threats, why are matters such as abortion, gun rights and a border wall vital to winning this war?

A m e r ic a n s a re w it n e s s i n g a n ever-growing overt call for the destruction of the principles which keep free nations free.

America’s “ideal” for the formation of our laws and government are found in the Declaration of Independence, one of four documents considered the foundation of U.S. organic law.

The Declaration clearly states America’s government is founded on the principle that God gives mankind inalienable rights which cannot be taken away by any man or government, or even surrendered by the one who possesses these rights.

Inalienable rights include: the right to life “in contemplation of law as soon as the infant is able to stir in the mother’s womb” (Blackstone’s Commentaries); the right to defend one’s life and bear the tools to do so – ie keep and bear arms; and the right to due process under the law, free from tyranny.

Evidence exists that FBI leadership deliberately lied in a FISA application and worked with foreign operatives to remove a duly-elected President from power – sedition, and treason.

When asked about the potential that city council members could be sued or face legal charges, City Council member Corey O’Connor ignorantly told the media city council members have “immunity.”

Recently, U.S. Senator Ka ma la Harris publicly called for an end to a free-market economy and the implementation of a socialist government in the United States. Harris also supports open borders and foreigners entering the United States illegally.

Such gross abuse of power and disregard for the law reveal the danger to liberty and America’s Constitutional Republic is great.

It is no surprise, therefore, politicians from both sides of the political aisle are resistant to President Trump’s efforts to build a wall along the U.S. southern border.

It is a self-evident truth that a nation that does not protect and defend its borders will cease to exist.

Walls work for security and protection.

Even buildings, like the U.S. Capital, use security barriers as a practical security measure.

A 2017 Customs and Border Protection report reveals 58% of all illegal invaders arrested on the U.S. southern border were from countries “Other than Mexico,” some coming from nations violently opposed to liberty.

This means there are some people illegally entering the United States who mean to do great harm.

There is a reason the cliche “good fences make good neighbors” exists. A border wall, aided by advanced technology,

well-trained border security offices and enough of them, would shut off the spigot of illegal entry into the U.S. and protect America from numerous threats, terrorists and otherwise.

So, America must shut off the flow of people from the outside (border wall) so we can reaffirm our founding principles on the inside. However, a border wall is not enough.

There are 16 points of entry into the United States from foreign soil. The reason Ellis Island worked 100 years ago was that it allowed for medical screening and relative insurance people were not entering illegally.

A vital part of any “Border Wall” plan, must be the reduction of all international points of entry to two or perhaps three

(East Coast, West Coast, Central U.S.) with rigorous standards, including medical screening, for those wishing to come work or live here.

Until all of this is sorted out, Understanding the Threat (UTT) continues to call for a five-year immigration shut down for the protection of the Republic.

Politicians Don’t Get to Decide Viability

rom one geographical extreme to another, American state assemblies strode into the viability and quality of life issue in groundbreaking ways during January. Starting with Hawaii’s new Our Choice Our Care Act launched on January 1, 2019, medically-assisted death marched closer to being considered ‘normal.’ Before January ended, New York legislators applauded the new freedom extended to the state allowing late-term abortions via the Reproductive Health Act. A common thread weaves through the move by both states. An ambiguity, one could say an arbitrary line in the sand, presents itself through both actions regarding viability. Hawaii allows patients deemed to die within six months to end their life with medical assistance.

Yet why six months? What group decided that six months is the cut off for a life to possess meaning rather than, say, seven months and thirteen days?

In New York, the health of the mother is a factor. A Virginia legislator already introduced the dialogue of health applying to mental health. New York allows non-physicians to perform abortions.

Will those non-physicians assume responsibility for evaluating the mental health of the mother?

These and other unsettling questions indicate a rush to an agenda rather than

to medical reality. If the government can designate life as ‘qualified to terminate’ if less than six months remain, when will they adjust that line? If a child is deemed unable to exist outside the womb without care at 8-months and 28 days, can that line be moved to 9-months. What about ten months?

The Governor of Virginia has already pushed the line that New York codified during a radio interview on WTOP. “If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen,” said Mr. Northam, a former pediatric neurologist. “The infant would be delivered.

The infant would be kept comfortable.

The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

– The Washington Times 1/30/2019 The governor later clarified that this would only be done with infants with extenuating circumstances such as severe deformities. The Governor didn’t offer who or what committee decides which deformities served as a life worthy or not.

In addition, one can’t help but notice that the Governor used the word infant – not product of conception, tissue, or fetus. He used the word “infant.”

Sadly, the lines have been drawn, erased, drawn again, and now an undisguised agenda emerges.

Clearly, politicians desire entrance into the ‘who lives/who dies’ conversation.

The more frightening aspect, other than New York’s standing ovation and pinklit empire state building celebrating the landmark law, is that politicians seem to feel the authority and qualifications to speak into this matter.

When “six-months seems good enough to me” allows a verdict on quality and value of life, and “…infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired” are guiding principles for politicians, the question naturally arising is, “what—or who—is next on their list?

How many parents at the breaking point while caring for special needs child will listen to the New York state legislature or the Governor of Virginia – and see an escape clause for their heartache?

How many families see a child born with a deformity and listen to elected officials as to letting that child live.

Should family members of a loved one suffering from a fatal disease expected to end his life within a year —petition Hawaii to push it back from six months to twelve?

When the state grasps, for whatever reasons, authority to wield or permit death, society itself suffers. History offers lengthy lessons on states assuming the power to kill or allow death.

Wrapped in the guise of caring for the individual, politicians nevertheless now brandish a power that no government has ever wielded responsibly. If

politicians can set a date, then they can set another date. If they determine that a newborn’s opportunity to live is now up to a discussion, what else can they determine?

Those (and their caregivers) living with down syndrome, cerebral palsy, chronic pain, multiple amputations, paralysis, spina bifida, Alzheimer’s, traumatic brain issues, mental illness, and a host of other challenges —now wait in the wings to learn what the state next deems as “viable.”

As citizens, we now need to draw a line in the sand of our own, a line for life. The only thing deemed ‘unviable’ should be the careers of the politicians supporting these acts.

It’s the great equalizer with everyone shooting at the same targets, faced against the same wind, sun, rain, whatever the elements throw at them that day. All to break clays over and over until the highest score of the day prevails. Guns Save Lives T he slogan “guns save lives” has been used by numerous gun rights activists to make the point that many of us believe… arming citizens is a way to stop violence.

Here are 10 stories that people have tweeted or talked about online that, for gun rights activists, support the idea that guns save lives: 1. Pennsylvania state Reps. Marty Flynn and Ryan Bizzarro were robbed at gunpoint outside the capitol building. Flynn, a former prison guard who is licensed to carry a concealed weapon, pulled his gun and fired when the 15-year-old robber fired his gun. Although no one was hit, Flynn credited the fact that he had a gun with saving his life and Bizzarro’s.

2. On Oct. 5, 2014, a man who ignored Texas’ laws saying concealed weapons can’t be carried into bars, shot and killed

two of four armed robbers attempting to rob E.J.’s Bar near Houston. Although many are hailing the patron as a hero, he disappeared after the shooting, probably, Concealed Nation said, because he would face felony charges for taking his gun into the bar.

3. In 2017, Craig Everette, 23, a combat veteran and purple heart recipient, saved his aunt and her boyfriend when his aunt’s estranged husband came to their Pennsylvania house and started shooting. Everette had been inside, but when the husband showed up, he slipped outside, armed himself and came back, shooting the man to death.

4. In July 2017, a psychiatrist pulled a gun and shot and wounded an armed patient who killed a caseworker. The doctor, who wasn’t named, apparently had ignored the hospital policy against

anyone but on-duty law enforcement carrying guns.

5. A woman’s adult son shot and injured his mother’s boyfriend, Tony Hardin, in Tennessee, after Hardin allegedly fought with the woman and chased her with a hammer, threatening to kill her. Hardin faces charges.

6. A father shot two armed robbers who were using his 17-year-old daughter as a human shield, killing one and critically wounding the other. The girl had gone to her car to get something when the two men approached her, pulled guns and told her to go inside the house. The girl’s father and mother saw the incident, both picked up guns and confronted the men, shooting them.

7. A 51-year-old grandmother who was approached by two men in a threatening manner went to pull her gun, for which she had a concealed carry permit, when one of the men opened fire, shooting her three times. After being shot in the side and the hand, the woman pulled her gun

and shot at the men. They were arrested later when they sought treatment at a hospital for their wounds.

8. An apartment manager sitting in her car while talking with a tenant shot the tenant’s husband several times, killing him, after he began stabbing through the window during the argument.

9. A woman being dragged across a Texas parking lot as she held onto her purse in an apparent mugging attempt was saved when a nearby stranger, who was carrying a concealed weapon, joined SEE GUNS SAVE LIVES | PAGE 15

stations. The presentations are to be shot as a ‘true pair’; which means both birds are thrown simultaneously or report par, where the first clay is thrown and the second is thrown upon the first shot.

There are so many different options for shooters in this sport. You can pick which gauge you prefer shooting and can change gauges with different courses.

There are different options of shooting like Sporting Clays, Five Stand, Super Sport… the list goes on. Shotguns are, of course, completely customizable as well depending on personal preference and who will be using it. Everything about shooting sports can be tailored to the shooter, which explains its increasing popularity.

One of the greatest things about the sport is that unlike other traditional sports, it can be completely customized without sacrificing quality and just about

For example, a course can be shot by a grandfather and his granddaughter as a bonding experience and yet that same course can be completed by a charity group as its annual fundraiser. Two completely different groups of people with two completely different goals, shooting the same course.

Another reason for the growth of the sport is a significant increase in the number of charity shoots over the past decade. Due to the sport’s overall appeal to such a large group of people, nonprofits all around the country have begun hosting charity shoots as their way to offer a fun experience for the public and their donors. This provides a larger platform for them to reach people while raising essential funding for their missions. One such local nonprofit is The Inside Out Foundation (IOF), which is a long-time partner of Sharp Shooters. IOF began hosting its annual charity shoot at the Lubbock Shooting Complex in 2015, and it is now

Joined the Army to See the World

I

t all started while working on a brush cutting gang with my brother William and other guys in Spur, TX. A couple of the guys on the crew were WWII Veterans. Their stories made Army life seem exciting and adventurous. Several of us decided to join. I was only 17 at the time so I needed my father’s consent which took some convincing, but he eventually agreed.

My buddies, my brother, and I all decided on a date to go sign up. We all passed the written exam as well as the physical one. We were in top shape because of the hard physical labor that we had always done; that made basic training a lot easier. We went from a bunch of country bumpkins to proud Soldiers in 14-weeks, ready to save the world; but glad that

there was no war going on right then so that wouldn’t be necessary. After boot camp, we were shipped off to Japan.

About three days before we reached

Japan, we were told that the North Koreans had invaded South Korea. The United States was sworn to defend South Korea, so we would only be in Japan long

enough to get supplies and arms before we would be landing in Korea.

Old Salt: Thoughts of Old Glory

I’ve mentioned before the awe at my first sight the super carrier USS Forrestal. I distinctly remember turning to salute our American flag at my first boarding feeling a poignant feeling. I suspect your memory of respect for our flag is much like mine. My family history is of men respecting the flag and our country; all the way from the Revolutionary War Afghanistan. One of my saddest, yet fondest, memories are of my cousin who died in a kamikaze attract on the USS O’Brien. He survived a couple of days, then died aboard a hospital ship having never regained consciousness.

Even in battle conditions the US Navy honors those who die for our country as the deceased slips away from under the burial American Flag as did my cousin.

To this day, I remember my cousin and his kindness to me as a boy. Once he was off to war. I was not to see him again.

In a future article I will tell you the full touching story of my cousin, a true hero.

Unworthy

ver the past 13-years I’ve had hundreds of conversations with our military veterans and their families. Every conversation has had a profound impact on my life. However, the most touching moment happened a couple of years ago in Farmington, NM. I had just finished a Sunday morning concert where I had taken time to express my gratitude to all of those who have served in our military. It was a very emotional experience, especially when the congregation gave their veterans and troops a standing ovation at the end of my song, “Welcome Home, Soldier.”

A few minutes later, while standing at my CD table, two men came up and asked if they could speak to me in private.

They took me into a room, introduced themselves as Ron and Ken and thanked me for recognizing them in the service.

Then Ron took out a black and white photograph of 4 young soldiers in full combat gear standing at the bottom of a hill. I had seen similar pictures before and I said, “This looks like photos I’ve seen taken in Vietnam. Are you in this picture?” Ron nodded “yes” and pointed to the picture saying, “This is Ken, and this is me.” There was a moment of silence before Ron told me that the other two soldiers in the picture, Jerry and Don were killed in combat. I put my hand on each man’s shoulder and told them how sorry I was, and I thanked them again for their sacrifice.

A few minutes later, I was shocked when Ken said, “Russ, we want you to have this picture.” In protest, I said, “No, this is a treasure to you. You need to keep Sending veterans to D.C. to pay homage to their fellow brothers and sister in arms by visiting the War and Service Memorials built in their honor. Donate Today!

Relieved, I gladly put the picture in my Bible and was about to go back to my table when Ron stunned me by saying, “Russ, before you go, we want to salute you.” I couldn’t believe what I just heard. “You want to what?” I shouted. He went on to say, “Ken and I talked about it and we want to honor you by saluting you.”

I’m sure I was backing up against the wall as I exclaimed, “It’s not right for you to salute me because I’ve never served in the military.” Then Ron said something that broke my heart, “Brother Murphy, we came home from Vietnam over 40 years ago. When we got home, the same people we were fighting and dying for, spit on us, cursed at us, and accused us of horrible things we had never done. This morning, over 40 years later, you were the first person to ever thank us for serving our country. No, you never served in our military, but you are serving our military by calling attention to those who have given so much for our freedom. That’s why we want to salute you.”

I understood what he was saying but I still didn’t feel right about being saluted.

Then I believe the Lord quietly spoke to my heart, “Russ, these men have been waiting for over 40 years for someone to show them appreciation; someone to help heal their wounds and this morning you did just that. So, you see this salute is really not for you; it is for them.” I slowly turned towards them and said, “It would be an honor to receive a salute from you.”

Then Ken said loudly, “Attention.” As we faced each I could tell that we were all fighting to hold back the tears. “Salute.”

It’s difficult to find words to describe the feeling that was in my heart at that moment. However, there is one word that kept coming to my mind… unworthy.

(c) The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free. (d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free.

(g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature. (h) The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything. (i) The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever.

It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown. (j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart. (k) The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

I will say… I was sickened to recently see a Republican woman, on the news, who evidently thought it patriotic to ware a cape made from a US flag. There is a saying that cautions, “Don’t wear your heart on your sleeve”. By the same token please don’t wear our Flag as a shabby fashion statement.

to H Company; a heavy weapons company where some of the platoons used different sizes of mortars or bazookas and various machine guns. I wound up in a thirty-caliber machine squad with both air and water-cooled guns. We spent a few days in a refresher course on the machine guns. It wasn’t really a refresher course for me, but a beginner’s course. In boot camp, I was trained as a fireman who kept the coal-fired boilers that heated all the building on base going – not on machine guns! No one was looking forward to being shot at or having to kill another person. I wondered if I could do the job that they were training me for or if I would freeze or even turn tail and run. To me, at the time, death would have been better than living knowing that I was a coward.

No time to think… It was time to “saddle up”!! I had about one hundred and twenty or thirty pounds of gear including a full field pack, four twenty pound boxes of machine gun ammunition, an M2 Carbine with about a hundred rounds of ammunition for it, a three day supply of C-Rations, several hand grenades, two spare barrels, and a spare parts kit for the machine gun.

I only weighed about one hundred and

thirty pounds myself at the time.

Making our way throughout Korea was no easy task. There were only a few times that we moved on trucks and not on foot during my stay in Korea. We walked for miles and miles and climbed numerous mountain tops. We dug foxholes and machine gun emplacements, which wasn’t easy in the hard, dry rocky earth. I always watched in awe as the Koreans, who had twice the load strapped to their backs, walked rather easily up the hills that I was having to crawl and pull myself up. It was times like this that I wished I was back on the flat prairies of West Texas where the walking was easier, even in thick sand.

Every day there was fighting all around us and we were always hearing of some unit getting overrun. We continued to walk for miles and miles and climbed some more mountains.

The nights were so much different from the daytime. We would wake from a sound sleep to the enemy blowing their bugle, shooting, yelling, screams of the wounded, confusion, explosions and guns firing all around you. We would have to walk several miles during the night in the pitch dark through woods over hills and deep gullies, falling over rocks, and fallen trees, tripping on the

brush, falling in unseen holes, all while loaded down with ammunition and other equipment.

We were considered seasoned soldiers now; even though we hadn’t been there all that long. A little over three months of living in the open, forced marches, fighting and killing, constantly on alert, going on patrols into enemy territory, and seeing so much killing, toughens a person in a short time. It was a day by day, hill by hill, step by step, sort of trip.

Sometimes it was just walking down roads or climbing mountains. Sometimes having to fight to be able to go ahead, but we kept moving up.

We suffered terrible casualties while driving the Koreans off one particular hill. Now they wanted it back and there was a long fierce battle lasting for hours. I didn’t know if we would be able to keep them off. They were really pushing hard, raining mortar shells and artillery all over us. I was on my knees throwing hand grenades as fast as I could and firing my carbine on full-automatic as fast as I could cram fresh magazines in. Suddenly, I got a terrible headache and felt really weak and sick. I don’t know if I realized that I had been hit but I knew I had to get back off the skyline before I was hit again.

RULES TO TEACH YOUR SON 1. Never shake a man’s hand sitting down.

2. Don’t enter a pool by the stairs.

3. The man at the BBQ Grill is the closest thing to a king.

4. In a negotiation, never make the first offer.

5. Request the late check-out.

6. When entrusted with a secret, keep it.

7. Hold your heroes to a higher standard.

8. Return a borrowed car with a full tank of gas.

9. Play with passion or don’t play at all.

10. When shaking hands, grip firmly and look them in the eye.

11. Don’t let a wishbone grow where a backbone should be.

12. If you need music on the beach, you’re missing the point.

13. Carry two handkerchiefs. The one in your back pocket is for you. The one in your breast pocket is for her.

14. You marry the girl, you marry her family.

15. Be like a duck. Remain calm on the surface and paddle like crazy underneath.

16. Experience the serenity of traveling alone.

17. Never be afraid to ask out the best looking girl in the room.

18. Never turn down a breath mint.

19. A sport coat is worth 1000 words.

20. Try writing your own eulogy. Never stop revising.

21. Thank a veteran. Then make it up to him.

So, I crawled back away behind a big rock and started yelling for help. The day I was shot in the head was September 11, 1950; my sister Maxine’s birthday.

Several days had passed before waking up in a hospital in Tokyo and finding out that I had been shot in the head. Doctors went into detail of the surgeries and that removal of an abscess in my brain caused by bone and bullet fragments had been the caused paralysis of my left side. It’s a shock to an eighteen-year-old kid to think that you may spend the rest of your life in a bed or wheelchair. That’s exactly what happened to a lot of kids that I came to know during the many months that I spent in various hospitals. The future looked bleak for most of us at times. But we were alive and we all had buddies that were not. And I had only to turn my head to see someone worse off than me.

I’ll never forget the first few steps I took around the room with a nurse on each side of me, holding me up and helping move my legs. That was one of the proudest moments of my life.

when caught, are simply returned to Mexico but the OTM’s have the right to have a judge hear their cases, thus they remain until that happens.

Caravans are a new phenomenon. These are financed, we were told, by billionaire George Soros. His group’s organize and instruct perspective migrants in their rights. After crossing Mexico, these people approach the border in small groups of nine to twenty and immediately seek a border patrol vehicle to approach and surrender, “Here I am!” They know that they will be taken to a holding center and cared for. These centers, designed for 80 to 90 migrants, now hold 200 to 250.

They are so crowded that there exists virtually no room between migrants.

They know they will be released into the general population after receiving a NTA (Notice To Appear) before a judge, but they also know not to appear as 90% will be sent home because they do not qualify for asylum. But now they are in the United States. The game changes to “hide and seek” until the United States changes its laws. Why? One officer told us that they were awaiting the expected “paradigm shift.” He did not explain what he meant but I inferred that Trump will be removed from power and their group enormity will force a path to full citizenship. He added, “When this hope

of being able to stay, is removed—this incentive—the flood will end.”

Agents invited us to visit three unsecured areas within thirty miles of where we were. One was Mount Cristo Re; located between the two cities but a good distance within the U.S. side.

It was identified as a place of danger.

The sign posted on the 12-foot-wide, well-trod, trail going up the hill to the statue warned, “If you’re going to tour Mt. Cristo Rey please contact the police department at (575) 589-6600 or at 1000 McNutt Rd.” Why would an area, within our country, and close to Border Patrol headquarters, be too dangerous for Americans to visit without first notifying police? Because it is also a corridor for drug and human trafficking between the two countries and you might disappear, be raped, or robbed.

A second was a construction site on the U.S. side of the border accessed by an opening in an 18-foot tall border wall through which construction trucks and workers frequently passed, this with no visibly mounted cameras. An almost dry Rio Grande River just south of the construction site had no barrier of any kind to prevent a crossing from either side and then through this opening.

A third site, some 25 miles west of El Paso, was the connecting point between a high fence, perhaps 18 feet, and a four or five feet high fence thereafter. The much shorter fence was designed to stop

only automobiles and Mexico was easily accessed from both sides over the top or sliding under it. I had one foot in Mexico and another in the United States, simultaneously. Picture very large steel X’s every ten feet with three horizontal cross beams connecting them. This fence was said to continue this way for some distance west but replaced with mere barbed wire thereafter.

The fence was marked as having been built in 2008 but it was no barrier to drug or human trafficking or coming across unnoticed at will. We were totally alone for a solid hour before we saw a helicopter flying the line. There was no evidence of technology either and we were but 20 miles from one of the most populated areas on the entire border.

We also learned that often the countries from which immigrants come do not want them back as they were happy to rid themselves of their impoverished or criminal class. Twenty years ago, the border could be controlled by 5,000 agents now 35,000 agents are required.

Even U.S. troops are needed to assist.

No one argued that this was not a very serious crisis, nor that a border wall was not critical in ending it. Border patrol agents confirmed, “there is no border security outside a wall.”

Be Still and Know …

Recently, a dear friend, Stu Leach said, “You know how time seems to fly by when we are older but as kids, it seems like it stood still?”

I acknowledged that it is true. Stu continued.

“It’s because when you are five years old, a year is twenty percent of your life, but at sixty, it’s only around one and a half percent. With each passing year, the year becomes a smaller percent of the total and so each year seems to pass more quickly.

It’s as if our time continues to pick up momentum all through our life.”

I’ve been pondering the wisdom of Stu, and as with many of my columns, they are inspired often by unrelated items that collide together in my head that make me say aloud, “hmmmm …”

The collision of passing time and the difficulty of quieting my mind …

The Zac Brown Band recorded a song several years ago entitled “Quiet Your Mind.” One day out of the blue, my sister, Kim, sent me a text message that read, “Zac Brown. Quiet Your Mind.

Google it. Listen to it now!” It wasn’t in the form of a mild request, so I did so immediately, and I have listened to it hundreds of times since. Like Stu’s casual observation, this song is full of profound wisdom. Look it up and give it a listen. I don’t know why Kim felt I needed that song at that moment, but she knew. I think sometimes, the connection of siblings defies distance and time.

Yes, time passes quickly. I believe one of the reasons, is that we live in a world bombarded by news, entertainment, and the urging from others to act now.

Most people I know relax in front of the television or engage in some activity that takes their mind off life’s chores.

Activities will change our focus, but they certainly do not quiet the mind.

Let me ask you …

When do you completely shut down?

I’ve learned throughout my writing career that I must take time to shut down and allow my mind and heart to sort things out. If I’m always talking, thinking and doing … when do I allow my creativity to work? I’m a man who believes in the power of prayer. I pray, but often, do not quiet my mind to listen to God’s answers. Last week, our conversation was about regret. I regret not having enough quiet time in my earlier life.

Take time to listen.

It’s impossible to hear our inner voice if we are always talking, watching something or listening to external noise. We look for answers outside of us when wisdom is often inside trying to be heard.

The noise and distractions of life are strong, but we must take time to resist.

Will you do yourself a favor?

Be still ...

Take fifteen minutes a day, sit alone in the stillness of the moment. Try not to think. Quiet your mind. Be still and what you feel in your heart and hear in your mind may surprise you. Sometimes, I can hear the beating of my heart.

As I sit, focused on the rhythm of my life, I hear the tempo of my heart slow and feel my body relax. It’s in those moments that creativity flourishes, and for me, wisdom comes. It’s usually shortly after I awake in the morning. My books and these columns are usually written between 4:30 AM and 9:00. Before the noise and distractions of the day kick in, I find it easiest to get in sync with my heart and mind. It is in those times I feel most in touch with my creator and at peace. I urge you to try. Shut it all down.

Be still and listen.

Keep Lubbock in God’s Loving Embrace

will never forget my drive to Lubbock. When I hit the Texas State line, I felt like I was crossing the US border. American Flags were everywhere, in what seemed to be a much bigger sky, waving and standing prouder and taller than I’d ever seen. Scripture and blessings to God on billboards lined the highway. By the time I reached Lubbock, I was spiritually and patriotically revived. Oh…the comfort I felt moving to a town with a church on practically every corner and what is statistically known to be a primarily “Christian, Conservative” pocket in a world gone crazy.

It all made sense to me. You see, as I child, I remember my father telling me, “When it all goes to hell everyone is going to Texas”. When I asked why,

he would tell me that the great state of Texas would never give up their guns and more importantly, they would never give up GOD. I moved here from a part of this country that was once very much like Lubbock, a Christian, conservative pocket.

Then it turned BLUE! By turning blue, it helped other counties around it turn blue. That assisted in the state turning blue! That all allowed for more marching towards what I see as the main liberal agenda… a War against God. It’s easy to be misdirected into thinking the battle is over border security and the need for a wall; the sanctity of the unborn life; the sexually deviant standards being instilled in our youth; or over the corruption in government. Instead, the atrocities and sins we are seeing daily in the news are all the symptoms of a Godless society. We are literally living in a world where many are calling evil good, and good evil.

Don’t be fooled into thinking the battle is only in Virginia, California, or New York. It is in our backyard (think Beto) and this cancer will metastasize in Lubbock unless we keep it at bay. One day it’s, “It won’t happen here”. The next day it creeps in and attacks your family, or your child, and you are impacted PERSONALLY – I speak from experience.

We must stand up and fight back – in whatever way we know how. Each of

us has a purpose in this battle! If we continue to be the ‘silent majority’, we will completely lose our voice, our rights, and our culture.

The Bible tells us to prepare for battle, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes”, Ephesians 6:10-11.

So, what do we do? Do what your limits allow and then go one step beyond.

Pray alone. Pray with your family. Pray with a group. That is critical!

Prayer alone is not enough… We need to educate ourselves on the issues; we started the Caprock Patriot to help with that. We need to write to our elected leaders and insist that our voices are being recognized in Lubbock, in Austin, and in D.C. We need to encourage our religious leaders to speak out – and let them know that we will protect them when they do!

Do what your heart tells you. Just do something. “So, whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin”, James 4:17.

Sitting back is not an option for me.

I look forward to joining you in this battle to keep Lubbock in God’s loving embrace.

Chaplain’s Corner - Life on the Other Side of the Badge

have been on both sides of the badge. I spent 17+ years as a cop, every day of it in uniformed patrol, taking calls for service. I retired from police work at a fairly young age. I figured I had been lucky, with only one injury that sidelined me for any length of time. I still work, but not in law enforcement. I volunteer as a police chaplain. I have been a volunteer chaplain for about 2 years now, and work with a local group, which has around a dozen chaplains. We cover the greater Lubbock, TX area and work with any type of first responders – fire, police, EMT, or dispatch. We are a mix of ministers, lay church leaders, retired cops and active cops. We are all volunteers; just a group who want to ease the burden of being a first responder by a little when we can.

I remember having no one to talk to that was not in the chain of command at my department and I don’t want other officers to face that. For my first few years at my old department, we did not have an active chaplain.

When we got a new chaplain and he began to ride with us, I really did not know what to think at first. I was not a church goer then, so I was a bit nervous with a preacher in the passenger seat.

The patrol unit was more or less my office, so imagine a new person sitting

6 inches from you all day at your desk, being privy to everything you do. After a time, I got to where I enjoyed the chaplain riding me. If nothing else, I figured nothing all that bad could happen to me with a preacher in my car – I had a direct line to God if any prayers were needed! It was nice being able to talk to someone about police work who did not take sides or tell the bosses what I had said. He did use some of my dumber remarks in a sermon, but I will forgive him that, since he did not drop my name.

Now that I get to ride as a chaplain, I see the other side. I see the averted eyes when they ask the officers who want me to ride with them. I understand – I am invading their world; even as a retired cop, I am an outsider to their department. I also see the officers who step up and ask me to ride, and who ask my advice on different issues. Though it seems like the first thing I would talk about, I rarely bring up religion or church, except maybe to ask them where they attend church, if they do. I will gladly answer any Biblical questions that I can, but only if asked. We talk about all sorts of random things, but I don’t give advice unless asked to. I never repeat anything I hear in a car. Some of them figure out quickly that I am not there to judge, and the conversations can get rough, which I am ok with. If they can vent

some of their frustrations to me in the car, it might save them from blowing up on a coworker or boss later. I am not going to pull out a Bible and point out the errors of what they say or do. I will answer a question about religion as best I can, but only if I am asked.

We try to be a ministry of presence.

I am not like a preacher that you only see on Sunday mornings. I have ridden in the evening, ridden on weekends, and I have ridden at 6 am (blame that one on insomnia.) I don’t want the first time an officer meets me to be after he is involved in a shooting. I have driven to the office just to give the dispatchers cookies, and to let them know that someone is thinking about them. In the current state of the world, sometimes it just helps to know that someone is on your side.

My blood pressure and heart rate still go up a notch when an officer makes a traffic stop or gets out on a call. After 17 years and over 20,000 calls, it seems unnatural to sit in a seat while an officer walks up to a car to make contact. I find myself falling back into the police mindset, watching for movement, watching hands for weapons, looking for cover; but I can’t get out of the car unless the officer asks me to. It is still strange being a spectator, but police work is best left to the professionals.

There is a common theme in being an officer and being a chaplain. We

are there to make a difference and help people. While the population the police contact is diverse, I get to specialize. But we both want to make a difference. None of us help people all of the time, but if we succeed even a small percentage of the time, it makes it worth the effort.

March Madness and a Compass

any people recovering from the absence of the NFL on television, now, in March, turning their sport appetites to the college basketball playoffs. March Madness is the name given to the process of 68 teams playing to determine a new 2019 national champion. In a book written about Coach Wooden, who won ten NCAA championships, T.E.A.M. is defined by an exceptional winning record. Together Everyone Achieves More is one meaning for the acrostic T.E.A.M. every player is willing to set aside their selfish desires for the good of the greater team goal. Every man and woman, yes that is how God created us, must deny the urge to bow to the “sovereign self” and bow our hearts to the sovereign Biblical God. Only then can we excitedly work together while pursuing the happiness we are designed to enjoy as gifted to us by a loving spiritual Father.

A compass will always point to true North. The power of ‘magnetic north’ cannot be changed. A moral compass will always point us to right and wrong as defined by the laws of God. The recent newspaper headlines of late February indicate that our national moral compass is spinning out of control. It’s important to pray at home and at church, but it’s also powerful to come together and pray across church lines and across neighborhoods to have a profound impact. (Remember Sister Act II?) We are excited to share that we are planning a prayer walk/drive in and around Lubbock on Saturday morning, April 13th, the week before Easter. We want to invite all Christians/churches to participate. When we pray fervently together, God answers the prayers.

This will be a walk/drive. Each group or individual can decide how they wish to participate. One group wants to walk/ drive down Ave. Q from 50th to the Sharp

We foolishly wonder why we can’t walk straight in such a state of moral free fall.

An absolute truth that claims ‘anything is right in our own eyes’ absolutely always leads to spiritual and emotional death.

We foolishly wonder why suicide is the number one killer of our youth. Without God’s “true North” moral compass, we will all go spiritually mad.

The words, “But God” are strong and encouraging words. God admonishes us to be strong and courageous. He is still on His throne. God’s team wins at the buzzer! The questions we each must answer daily are...who’s team am I on and is my heart pointing true North?

Freeway and pray to stop drug problems and pray for solutions for our homeless.

One church has a heart to walk around the CPS offices and pray (especially because of the high number of children being taken from parents due to meth and other drugs).

Some people want to drive around the loop and pray for the entire city. While others feel led to drive around and pray for a particular neighborhood.

If you’re from an outlying town, feel free to join us or start your own Prayer Walk/Drive (at the same day and time if possible) in order to create more power

in our prayers.

Celebrating the Principles of Liberty: March Edition

Without moral law (principle) there is no liberty. The Laws (principles) of Nature and Nature’s God are just and have natural consequences in keeping or breaking them. They are not subject to variables such as culture, personal preference and which way the political wind is blowing. Water, left to itself, will run downhill because of the law of gravity. The nature of mankind is the same; left to itself, it runs downhill into corruption. The unjust King was corruptly exercising his power. The principled Founding Fathers chose to exercise their just power and respectfully separated from the unprincipled king in order to live under the true principles of liberty. Remember that all authority, the right to rule over a jurisdiction is delegated down from God first to the people and then further down from the people, limited authority is delegated down to government. Liberty is the just use of the law to exercise authority in governing over a jurisdiction to which one has the Creatorendowed right. Lawlessness is the unjust use of the law to exercise authority in governing

Father, we thank You for this great nation - the United States of America - and that it was founded on Your Word, and faith in You. Father, breathe a fresh wind of unity over this nation. Let Your Holy Spirit dominate every area of our government, our churches, our schools and our homes.
