e live in the freest and most powerful nation in the world because our founders agreed that they would rather live in dangerous freedom than “safe” captivity. A life worth living is a life without fabricated guarantees.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it; we are not guaranteed a single thing in this life. Not safety, not security, not happiness, not a good job, not comfort, and not convenience. Yet, that’s what we expect.

Dr. Fauci said something in a recent interview that was disturbing to me.

He told NPR that he “can’t guarantee” a physical vote in November will be safe. What concerned me was not that he thought we might not be able to

have a physical vote for the presidential election—something that would be an absolute disaster for our voting system as voter fraud would run rampant–no, it was the word “guarantee.” Since when did life, policy, governance, or decision-making operate on guarantees?

Another Possible Immunity Option for COVID-19

T

he unexpectedly high numbers of people with circulating anti-COVID-19 antibodies are probably not due to COVID-19 but a different coronavirus.

It is probable that the majority of the large numbers of persons with circulating COVID-19 antibody found in their serum in Santa Clara County and Los Angeles County have been previously infected with a different coronavirus than COVID-19.

Possibly the contact with this different coronavirus makes these persons immune to COVID-19 for a period of time? If it does render immunity, this different virus should be quickly identified and evaluated as a potential vaccine. This different coronavirus can be cultured, and a measured dose of the virus inhaled into the nose of each person being vaccinated. Â Those immunized in this manner would develop a common cold in a few days and circulating antibodies effective both against the different coronavirus and COVID-19 within a few weeks. If this vaccine were to work, it should be ready to administer almost immediately because the side effects would be no more than those of a common cold and not have the potential complication concerns of an injectable vaccine.

In a similar manner more than two centuries ago, cowpox was used to immunize against smallpox. The viruses were different, but the mild cowpox infection was effective in making those who were vaccinated immune from infection with the highly deadly smallpox virus.

It is very important to realize that the circulating antibodies to COVID-19 found in larger numbers of people in Santa Clara County and Los Angeles County may not be due to COVID-19 infection. Misunderstanding the results could cause people to wrongly assume that COVID-19 is no more deadly than seasonal flu.

COVID-19 is a highly infectious and very deadly coronavirus and must be carefully and rigorously avoided as we reopen our nation and the world.

Vaccines must be expedited and administered soon after each vaccine has been shown to be successful in establishing some level of immunity.

The health, economic, and political consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic are too devastating to allow the pandemic to continue without bold and definitive actions. There are no

flawless campaigns in war, and the goal must be to defeat the enemy as quickly as possible with as few fatalities and the least amount of collateral damage as possible.

Mass Media and Democrats: Bias Against the Constitution

nyone willing to set aside their own prejudices and look honestly at TV and the print media will see obvious bias against conservatives in general, and President Trump in particular. While the media praised President Obama for his handling of almost everything he did, conservative politicians and media were often chastised for their opposing opinion. Our southern border is a case in point. Though Obama was responsible for those much-maligned “cages” where children were temporarily held on our southern border, Trump was falsely blamed for installing them. When a so-called news reporter blamed Trump for killing citizens with his false information, that false info

by Morning Joe was simply ignored by other liberals in the media. FOX News did mention Morning Joe’s false claim and seems to be one of the few news outlets that have a good reputation for presenting facts. At least to conservatives.

I am a conservative Christian who pays close attention to several news sources because I write a political column and need to be as sure as possible that the information I present is accurate. For example, we are a republic, not a democracy, as often stated by the media, and it states so in our Constitution.

The courts in America do not have the final say as often stated by democrats, but We the People do. Courts are not allowed to make law, and that is part of our Constitution also. An excellent case against the court is the DOMA or

Defense of Marriage Act, which passed into law with about a 70% positive rating from We the People. Though it was signed into law, the court said it was unconstitutional. If congress had done its job, it would have told the court it could not rule on the matter because We the People have spoken.

But they did not…allowing the court to be sovereign over the people. Our Constitution says the court can be controlled by congress with the phrase, “… with such exceptions and under such regulations as Congress shall make.”

Remember, in the U.S. the people are sovereign, not the court, the congress or the president. Sovereign is defined as, “possessing supreme or ultimate power.” The democrat party has stolen that power never granted to any party and given it to the courts, to make and remove laws. “All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a congress…” is what our Constitution says.

ALL means “complete and total”, and LEGISLATIVE means “Law Making”.

So, the court is not allowed to make laws Constitutionally, but democrats constantly say court rulings are the law of the land…WRONG! America is a right-of-center nation and has been from our founding.

With a liberal media and a liberal democrat party, citizens have been falsely told the court has the final say in legal matters, but that is not

Constitutional. If the court is the “check and balance” on congress and the president, who or what is the control over the court? The simple answer is “We the People” as defined by our founding documents.

Look at what liberals have done to overthrow Constitutional law by the misstating of Constitutional facts. No doubt the court has to keep our laws within the confines of our Constitution, and their rulings are for congress, but it DOES NOT have the power to overrule the will of the people.

The court is part of the government and the Constitution is We the People’s limiting tool on government. Our Constitution guarantees citizen’s rights, but it also LIMITS GOVERNMENT power. Get a copy and read it as written, not as redefined by liberals.

I am reminded of an old racing engine builder who read the rule book to see how he could cheat…legally. Okay, that is an oxymoron, but I’ll explain.

The book said the cam had to have the factory part number on its face, supposedly to keep the factory cam in all engines. So, the builder had a custom race cam made but with the factory number etched on the face. He was cheating but met the requirement of the rule book.

Think of democrats with that mindset, and their actions will become much clearer.

They redefine the rulebook words, twisting them to their liberal thinking.

hen this Coronavirus madness hit and most of my customers shut down, I was worried. Would I be able to put out a paper in May? Would my clients still be here?!

Yet, here I am putting out my SEVENTEENTH edition! A month ago, like many of my small business peers, I thought that I was done.

Instead, here I am. Because of the virus, I’ve lost a few sponsors and (remarkably) gained a few more.

Some I lost because they simply folded up shop – which breaks my heart for them and their families.

Some understandably had to take a break to focus on making sure their employees could survive.

My regular sponsors (GOD BLESS THEM), appreciate what I do and stuck with me. Shot Felt Around the World: Vaccine or Villain

A

ccording to Bill Gates, everyone in the world needs to have the vaccine for COVID-19 to achieve “safety and security.”

If you believe that, we have some major issues to discuss. So, keep reading. Let’s see if we can get to the bottom of this very important subject. I, for one, have chosen not to get a flu shot. In fact, I haven’t gotten any shots that I recall since I was a child getting vaccinated for polio, mumps, and other childhood diseases. We actually tried to get the measles and chickenpox by going over to our friend’s house to catch the diseases. Why would we do that?

The answer has much to do with our immune system and the defense mechanism to become stronger in protecting us from getting sick or getting sick again.

Stanford University researchers recently revealed that staying inside our houses and distancing from one another has weakened our immunity. We need to be exposed to the boogeyman COVID-19 enough to build up resistance to this seemingly vicious virus that has taken the lives of just .0001% of our population. While millions of Americans are dying to get back to work, the “experts” have so frightened us that we gladly submit to their “lockdown” requirements. In the meantime, have any of those “trusted voices” encouraged us to stop eating sugar (which freezes the immune system)? Have they encouraged us to get outside and exercise? Have they promoted the idea of spending time in the sunshine to get Vitamin D, not to mention the fresh air?

You do know that the sunshine kills the virus wherever it shines…like on play equipment at the park for our children.

And how ‘bout those beaches? The salt in the ocean is a disinfectant, the last time I checked. And again, the sunshine at the beach is always good

with a bit of sun-screen lotion or beach umbrella.

So how can we Americans strengthening our immune systems and thus benefit in numerous ways? I’m sure you know the answer to this question after reviewing the above paragraph: 1) Cut out sugar from our diet. 2) Drink plenty of clean/purified water each day. 3) Exercise 3-4 times a week. 4) Get out in the fresh air and sunshine (or supplement Vitamin D). 5) Eat 4/5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day with a good amount of quality protein. 6) Supplement nutrients not found in food, especially Vitamin C, A and E. 7). Laugh…have a positive mental attitude. 8) Give your fear and anxiety to the Lord!! These suggestions are simplistic yet if we all did these things, we would be so much healthier to combat such things as the flu and viruses. In fact, we may not even need a vaccine!

For those astute individuals who have already done investigative journalism, we begin to see the connection between immunizations and setting the stage for a larger purpose. An obvious conclusion regarding the push to have EVERYONE in the world vaccinated reveals the monetary gain of Pharma. What you may not know is that

President Kennedy signed the Vaccination Assistance Act in 1962 to, in the words of a CDC report, “achieve as quickly as possible the protection of the population, especially of all preschool children…through intensive immunization activity.” Sounds good to me!! But then in 1986, the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (NCVIA) was signed into law as part of a larger health bill. NCVIA’s purpose was to eliminate the potential financial liability of vaccine manufacturers due to vaccine injury claims to ensure a stable market supply of vaccines, and to provide cost-effective arbitration for vaccine injury claims. The NCVIA was created to provide a federal no-fault system for compensating vaccine-related injuries or death by establishing a claim procedure involving the United States Court of Federal Claims. What this means is that Pharma can make a vaccine quickly and economically without having to spend months/years doing double-blind placebo testing before injecting the population…and with total profitability and NO liability.

The monetary gain of Pharma will be substantial, but does that also play into Bill Gates’ eugenics goal? He has estimated that up to 700,000 individuals

could be negatively affected (meaning death) by the next vaccine. (He has been one of those globalists who would like to reduce the population.) The requirement of everyone getting immunized could help achieve his desire. One might ask why so many deaths from a vaccine? Could we conclude this to be the reason why the NCVIA was passed in 1986! Not only were children/people dying but were having serious health issues as a result of the immunizations.

Today, if not immunized you might now be restricted to the gym, concerts, church, games, etc.

If you were one of the millions who were immunized with the flu shot in the past ten years, you will most likely test positive for the COVID-19 because it is already in your system, according to Dr. Rashid Buttar. So even though you don’t have any symptoms, those testing you may record your results as positive for the virus. What that means is that many statistics gathered on the COVID-19 are likely skewed and add to the fear-factor that disturbs our families and influences our policies for health and safety.

Regarding social distancing of 6’… this is not to keep us from the virus (we cough/sneeze into our tissue or shoulder to guard us) but rather to desensitize us for being apart to be tracked by cellular/satellite. When we cluster together closely, the tracking cannot differentiate who is clustered, thus more difficult in prosecuting the offenders of “distancing.” Another tracking device will be a chip inserted under your skin. Yikes! Lord Jesus come quickly!

Trump announced the hold on U. S. f u nd i n g for t he W. H .O.,

saying, “We spend $500 million a year,” and noted that China only spends $30 million-$40 million annually.

The president said the W.H.O., an agency of the U.N., had participated in “mismanaging and covering up” the spread of the coronavirus around the world.

“The W.H.O. pushed China’s m i s i n fo r m a t i o n a b o u t t h e virus, saying it was not communicable, and there was no

fundraising for the commies at WHO. The usual suspects showed up including Paul “Yeah, Yeah Socialism” McCartney, Granny Madonna, and Lady “Gag me” Gaga proclaiming WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a “superstar”. How much did China pay her for that?

They ended up raising about 55 million, a drop in the bucket considering the 500 million that was defunded.

Remember China lied, People died, and the WHO covered it up!

Quarantine is What We Make of It

or years to come, pundits and historians will write about the wisdom, impact, and results of this quarantine. Was it necessary?

Was the result worth the devastation to the economy? Did it save lives? Of course, for the next few years, the discussion will be strictly partisan.

If you support the President or your governor, you’ll praise him/her. If you are not a fan, none of the decisions were correct. However, as time passes, a clarity of events will set in, and the true impact of quarantine will be measured.

A television journalist I deeply respect (and there’s not many left) said last week, “When the decision is made to end quarantine and how the economy is restarted, will determine if the President is re-elected or not. He didn’t say so, but I think the same decisions will apply to our governors.

If they end quarantine too soon, the virus could explode again. As we lead up to the election, the death rate will climb. If quarantine remains too long, irreparable damage can be done to the

world economy. We are truly in uncharted territory and the decisions made by our government leaders will impact our nation and world for decades to come.

For those of us who believe in the power of prayer, we should all be praying for wisdom to be granted to our governmental leaders as well as their advisors and influencers. For those who are not, positive thoughts and statements are always helpful.

What is totally useless, and damaging is negative partisanship. I’ve heard more than one political pundit wishing a recession or worse, only to damage the President’s chances for re-election. Think about the negative impact of a recession or depression. Really?

There are people who hate the President enough to wish damage to the world economy, unemployment, loss of homes and even suicide? Regardless of your political leanings, there is something deeply wrong in that type of hatred that some would wish this kind of damage and destruction.

I’m still old school. I pray for and support the President and governmental leaders whether I voted for them or not.

To pray for the success of our President, whether he’s your choice or not, is to pray for the success of the nation.

To pray that he fails is to pray for our failure.

Anyone who seriously thinks this man is capable of being an effective President of the United States

As for quarantine ... how’s it going?

I’m an extrovert, so I am deeply missing my friends and basic social connections. I can whine about it, but what will that accomplish? Giving in to it and complaining solves nothing and can potentially move me from missing other people into depression. Don’t give in!

COUNT YOUR QUARANTINE BLESSINGS! I work full-time as a writer. I love what I do and feel blessed to have a career that I truly love and adore. Quarantine, in many ways, has been perfect for me. A major publisher is looking at my new book, Fragrance of Lilacs, and claims to love it, but asked for a rewrite of an antagonist’s storyline. If not for quarantine, it may have taken months to accomplish, and in the process, given the publisher time to move on. Instead, quarantine has given me the time to complete the rewrite in ten days.

Quarantine has caused my family to be more deliberate in contact and communication. We are talking and Facetiming daily. I am loving the connection and I’m determined to continue the deliberateness of talking and expressing our love daily, face to face.

Quarantine has helped me be of service. I truly cannot keep up with the positive email I’m receiving from readers wishing to talk about a column and express their opinion. I think positive content in this, and all newspapers, has never been more important than now. To remain optimistic during a pandemic will help us all weather the storm, survive and once again thrive as it passes. And believe me, this too shall pass.

My prayer for us all is that we remain positive and optimistic during the worst of times. In doing so we’ll usher back into our world, and our lives, the

best of times.

I hope and pray that we all use this time to accomplish the things we previously wished we’d have had the time to accomplish and enjoy.

Do not squander this precious opportunity with partisan bickering and complaining. Never in my lifetime of over six decades, has it been more important to reach across the political aisle and work in unison to save lives and recover quickly from the impact of this terrible disease. Partisanship in this time of turmoil only guarantees prolonged misery and suffering.

Optimism is a powerful choice in times when being optimistic is most difficult.

Purposefully looking for positive ways to be encouraging during times of mass discouragement is not just helpful but is an honorable calling.

uring the time where Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic arrived, where many incarcerated felt as though they had no control over anything, they came together and united around a singular mission.

What began with a conversation between staff, friends, family, girl scouts and donations, the idea of making masks for the entire inmate population and staff began. It didn’t take long before inmates started asking ‘if there was anything they could do to help during the crises’.

With the eagerness and knowledge of both female and male inmates in the Lubbock County Detention Center, the cutting, pinning, and sewing of 2,000 masks begun.

When people unite to accomplish a goal, and the desire to help, anything is possible.

To Be or Not to Be… 2020

Ode to the Welfare State

W

e have all hunkered down with the C-Virus situation, but have we been manipulated? Are our elected representatives guilty of abusing the Constitution and overreaching? Is it tyranny – dictating what ‘they’ think is best for us rather than representing the will of the people from who their rights are derived? Was it necessary for the entire country to be shut down and quarantined?

We have in today’s world two opposing parties and thus two points of view. But one doesn’t have the right to impose their perception of reality onto others in society.

The government derives its rights from ‘We the People”, and the constitution is clear on what rights are granted to the government. Overstepping the bounds set forth in our Constitution is a violation of the oath of office every elected official must take. And make no mistake it is not a suggestion but rather ‘the law’ and it is incumbent on those elected to take that oath seriously.

Was the lockdown an offense against our rights under the constitution? Or have our elected officers simply done what is necessary to protect our health & safety?

One must wonder what the man on the streets thinks of this whole potential fiasco. Most people, I believe, have a keen sense of the obvious and this abridgment of rights is clearly using the fear of a crisis, blown out of proportion, to take liberties from the people.

Some good seems to be emanating from the current state-of-affairs which has given rise and reason to question the expanding power of a Centralized Government. The founder’s intentions were to restrain and restrict the government from extending beyond the bounds of their separate powers.

The Lockdown: From the very outset

it was common knowledge that only those over 65 were at risk. The Department of Labor says that only 13 % of the workforce of 165 million are 65 and older. So, one must ask, why wouldn’t the government minimize the effect on the economy by allowing 87% to continue business as usual. It would appear there was NO compelling reason to quarantine everyone.

So, was it a political ploy for a devious plan to manipulate the people and its economy?

This is only one example of the excess power of our National Government.

Convention of States, under Article V of the constitution, is gaining legs in a movement to push back against the overreach of government in a few specific areas of concern.

Shakespeare wrote in Act III Scene II of Hamlet, “To be, or not to be, that is the question: Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or, to take arms against a sea of troubles and

by opposing, end them…”.

It is for us, the people of America, to reign in the excesses of our government and ask that they agree to abide by the Constitution and not change it by policy.

Every patriotic American needs to learn about the Convention of States and I’m sure they will want to join in and support the movement to use the Constitution to preserve and protect that essential foundation of our very existence – Our Constitution.

There is a simple and lowcost antidote, which is the Truth, but the well stricken Liberal may often violently resist any attempt at treatment or rescue from his or her debilitating condition. Also, it is amazing how quickly this mental disorder adapts and mutates in its quest to destroy its victims along with everyone else they come in contact with! This deadly affliction rapidly strikes the vulnerable and

most unaware while incapacitating their ability to reason and grasp reality. Often, this tragic disorder brings on hallucinations of ridiculous phenomena (such as “climate change” or “global warming,” taking celebrity gibberish as gospel, or even the outright and twisted fantasy of 50+ genders) while creating intellectual blindness and confusion in these poor suckers.

And similar to lemmings, they are regularly willing to follow each other over a cliff to certain death, just because that’s the way the herd happens to be pointed!

John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, team more, do more and become more, you are a leader”. That’s another beautiful thing about America. We all thrive on each other’s greatness and ability even if the abilities aren’t the same.

We are constantly learning how to be better people every single day, and that’s because every single one of us are leaders in our own little way. We never give up, because our history still lives in us to this day and we’ll never be able to forget it.

In my opinion the Americans are what makes America great. The way my class and I stand up to say the American pledge shows how much we love and respect our incredible country. The way we don’t give up Faith because we know someone in the end will always have our backs and be ready to defends us. The way my family showed me how to love the beautiful country I was born in.

All of that is what makes America great.

take advantage of those suffering from this tragic Liberal hysteria, and manipulate them (along with their willingness to vote!) into supporting all manner of whacko and nefarious schemes. What makes those infected especially dangerous, is that they may look perfectly normal, however, a good way to find them out may be to mention “Make America Great Again,” and observe their ability to remain calm!

We of the “Rational and Logical Fraternity” have an obligation to spread our “Truth Serum” into every available quarter, to battle this malignant travesty; remember: “the life we save, may be our own!”

On another subject, the Founders of our Republic saw the necessity of having a Citizen Militia to help assure local or regional security.

Curiously, (or maybe not!) at least since the Wilson administration, armed assistance by citizens for police and military forces has been vigorously discouraged. The underlying motive of this has been to achieve the ultimate disarmament of civilians, with the evil intent of eventual police state population management. This is unacceptable in maintaining a free society and has resulted in an “us versus them” mentality or mindset on the part of many police and political agencies. If politicians don’t trust the very people who put them into office, with the means to protect themselves and their families, then those politicians should be replaced with some who actually respect their constituents. I believe that we need to start a national movement to re-organize volunteer Citizen Militias, properly trained and equipped, to assist police and or military units, when called upon in a time of emergency. (There are so many up-sides to this scenario, that it will take another column to go through them!)

COMMENTARY Despite economic woes and societal inconveniences brought on by the Coronavirus episode, I believe we can recognize a number of positives for the longer term.

One is the realization that governments overall have been shown to be essentially incompetent in guaranteeing health and safety to their citizens— all of us have had a stark reminder that “We the People” may be the only First Responders available and must prepare for this possibility. (Also, President Trump’s declaration that gun and ammunition enterprises are essential and must remain open during this time of quarantine, is no small matter!) Another would be widespread awakening to the need for solid Spiritual underpinnings to cope with and overcome media promoted fear and panic. After all, our founding as a nation was based on the Judeo-Christian Ethic, and our survival as a nation will depend on our adherence to it.

proceed to make statements regarding our nation’s safety is nonsensical, unnecessary, and will only result in further panic and uncertainty.

But this is where we are. We live in a world obsessed with guarantees.

We want guaranteed housing, healthcare, schooling, and jobs. We want to live without the feeling of discomfort, worry, pain, or being offended. We have become soft as a society and we’ve become complacent to government interference as a result. It’s not enough to say that the government should do its best to mitigate a crisis while keeping individual liberties intact. No, we want to hear that the government is doing all it can to promise us complete safety at any cost–even if it means sacrificing the protection of our rights.

Instead of valuing freedom over a sense of security, we’ve grown to value

www.CaprockPatriot.com apparent safety over liberty. We’ve forgotten that it is impossible to eliminate risk, and to trade in our rights for the “common good” is a losing bargain. We face risk every day. Life is merely one giant decision-making process of weighing risk and reward.

When we drive to work, we are making the choice that collecting a paycheck outweighs the risk of dying in a car crash on the way to the office.

When we get up every morning, we are deciding that participating in life requires you to accept that the world has dangers and no government or person can isolate you from them.

Living for guarantees only opens the door for authoritarian rule. It’s a permission slip for unchecked power as long as there is an overarching societal platitude of “I feel secure.”

However, security and safety are always temporary and elastic; liberty and freedom are not. Our world is, and always will be, filled with

uncertainty, unexpected events, a changing environment we must adapt to, and new risk and rewards analyses that must be made. It is impossible, if not foolish, to suggest that we must guarantee something before we can agree upon it as a society.

So yes, of course, Fauci “can’t guarantee” a physical vote in November will be safe. That is because no one can guarantee anything will be safe.

The fact that Dr. Fauci even made this statement is ancillary to the crisis and even our way of life at large. We have never strived for a guarantee, we strive toward mitigating adverse consequences. We will never eliminate risk; we can only tolerate it.

We make social contracts daily with each other on how much risk we are willing to put up with to live our lives.

The same goes for the government.

Policy is merely risk-benefit analysis and yes, that includes people’s safety.

Recognizing this reality is not taboo,

it’s not harsh or lacking in empathy, it’s what we’ve always done to ensure a nation of freedom, liberty, and equal opportunity.

Nothing in life is a guarantee and the moment we start expecting that is the moment we get complacent with our rights. We live in the freest and most powerful nation in the world because our founders agreed that they would rather live in dangerous freedom than “safe” captivity.

True Stories of a Vietnam Long Range Recon Patrol: Part X gathered in a loose circle around him.

He held up three fingers and pointed to a spot about 40-yards down the mountain to the ravine with the bamboo field we had crossed earlier. He then pointed to the Vietnamese Lieutenant and waved his open hand around indicating the men.

The One-Zero, with three upheld fingers, told us he had shot three men about 40 yards down the mountain near the bamboo. When he pointed to the Vietnamese Lieutenant, he indicated he wanted him to go check to see if

I saw the movement of three trucks before the sound of their engines drifted up to me. One truck had the back canvas cover burning as it raced down the road toward the east. They covered the ground at their top speed, and I thought they would make it to the next turnoff road and the safety of tree cover.

An F4 Phantom jet came in fast and low. With its guns chewing up the south side of the road and stripping vegetation from trees and plants, like confetti released at a New York City parade.

The F4 Phantom had been hanging back in the sky like a tiger shark hangs in ocean current waiting for prey He came in so fast that by the time I had turned my head to follow him, he had finished his strafing run and was riding his afterburners back into the sky.

I had just enough time to see the three trucks come to a rolling halt with the bodies, as in human bodies, riddled with holes.

Bomber but did not have time to look for him. The Vietnamese Lieutenant tapped me on my flop hat and I followed the man ahead of me; just inside the tree line as the One-Zero moved fast up the mountain.

I was so relieved because it was getting late and I wanted badly to be extracted, to end this... my first mission.

Then… BOOM-BOOM. The A1 Dive Bomber had released his bombs. I was learning.

The Vietnamese Lieutenant pointed at me then, in a crouch, headed at a fast pace toward the dead men. With me behind him and me praying I would not be shot by friendly fire. We covered the distance quickly. The Lieutenant hit the ground and I did the same. He paused a few seconds then crawled

to a body and started searching it for papers. I crawled forward and seeing a body started searching it. The Lieutenant crawled to a third body to search it.

He motioned to me and I watched to see want he wanted. He took one of the grenades from his web harness, rolled the body up and placed the grenade in a secure place against the ground. He then rolled the body over on the grenade checked it well then pulled the pin of the grenade; the weight of the body firmly holding the release leaver in place. I did the same to my dead body as he did the third body.

I then followed him up the mountain back to our team. He held up three fingers confirming three killed. He held a closed fist up then quickly spread his fingers indicating that the bodies were booby-trapped.

Old Salt: “The Future Ain’t What It Used to Be”

“When you come to a fork in the road, take it” I’ll start by stealing the above couple of quotes from that great philosopher, Yogi Berra. Notably, all it takes to be a truly great person is just focus on one thing you love and you’re good at, be yourself, don’t take yourself seriously, speak your mind no matter how silly it may sound at the time, be good and gentle to others. History will take care of the rest. I sent a link of Yogi Berra sayings to a young acquaintance, a former baseball player, and catcher. His response to my text says it all “Thanks!

I love me some Yogi Berra”. I think what my friend was relating was profound respect to a past legend who did nothing but be his God-given self during his short whisper on this planet. I had the

good fortune to have attended several 1960 baseball games at the old Yankee Stadium where I saw Yogi Berra and many other legends perform. At the

end of my first Navy enlistment, I had returned to the U.S. on a USNS Troop Ship to Brooklyn Navy Yard. For nearly two weeks, while awaiting discharge, I

had nothing to do but be a NYC tourist.

Riding the subway to Yankee Stadium to see legends play ball was a facet of life I could only appreciate much later.

The following Yogi quote demonstrates the modesty of the man. Someone had written a news article on Yogi in which the writer commented on the unhandsome features of the man.

Asked to comment on the rude statement Yogi simply stated, “So I’m ugly. I never saw anyone hit a baseball with his face”. Another saying demonstrates his non-ego approach to life as he related the following, “A lot of guys go, ‘Hey, Yog, say a Yogi-ism.’ I tell ’em, I don’t know any. They want me to make one up. I don’t make ’em up. I don’t even know when I say it. They’re the truth and it is the truth is all I know”.

WHAT’S THE POINT? The point is, just like you, I am sequestered in this house for the duration of this Coronavirus COVID-19 involuntary quarantine. Maybe I am going stir crazy and starting to hallucinate a little. That said I feel like just shotgunning topics as if I were Yogi Berra.

THE FUTURE, AFTER THE VIRUS I think it’s now safe to say, like Yogi, “The future ain’t what it used to be”, and “When you come to a fork in the road, take it”. Those Yogi sayings make more sense than most of the

self-proclaimed experts we hear from.

If you are one of those who think you can rip this country apart and have it gone back to normal whenever some Doctor who looks and talks like Mel Brooks with his sidekick, Scarf Queen sound the all-clear, you have forgotten the lessons of 1929. This American system cannot be turned off and on like a light switch. The laws of unintended consequence plus unscrupulous politicos will have a field day. Now, no disrespect to Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx, but remember they spent life as liberal democrats and are married to their ideas of math models and theories of saving the world by running your life as they see fit. Who is to say those two, along with the myriad “smarter than you” people behind them, are just using this to prove some global theory? We are already hearing rumblings the virus is nature’s response to global warming and socialist talk of look how easy it was to shut down America. One Liberal

Democrat Congressman actually said, “Now we can put our agenda in place”.

I am only guessing here but bet the display of the jackass media at President Trump’s virus teleconferences may have been a revelation to Dr’s Fauci and Birx.

Sure, our President did embrace these two democrats as any reasonable person would in time of need. Being a good businessman, he skipped ideology in favor of the best expertise available.

Several times, as the stupid press constantly played gotcha games, I saw the two docs flinch at the disrespectful reporters. In the latest indication, one stupid reporter tried to impugn Dr. Fauci’s honesty and integrity by implying his statements were forced by the President. The good and gentle doctor quickly showed a quick temper telling the dumbfounded press monkey, “don’t you dare go there! I speak my mind freely”. I have no doubt these two professionals have had their eyes

YOU ARE PROPHETIC Several years ago, my wife and I enjoyed a TV comedy called “Psych”.

The main character faked being psychic and occasionally would actually say some truth that elicited a comment, “you must be psychic”.

To which he, having misunderstood, would rudely say, “You’re pathetic too!” Well, I am either psychic or pathetic based on my March and April articles. On 3/15/2020, for the April issue, I told the personal story of a 1958 viral hepatitis epidemic on the Super Carrier U.S.S. Forrestal. On about 02/15/2020, for the March issue, I wrote of the potential deadly Corona Virus and the resulting future shock.

I must be more pathetic than psychic because I did little to prepare for what happened since. I should have bought a boatload of toilet paper and sold all

So, here is an update as some commentary on those articles: “IT’S LIKE DÉJÀ VU ALL OVER AGAIN” Another good Yogi saying. Hearing of the COVID 19 outbreak on the nuclear carrier well after my “See Naples and Die” article was déjà vu; that is, we feel like we been here before. Just a few observations and caparisons come to mind. Operationally the U.S.S. Forrestal and the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt are not that different. So, what changed to cause the Captain to act as he did. On the Forrestal, in the face of a deadly outbreak, the problem was faced, fixed, and the mission continued without notifying the world. Go read my April article. What happened on the Roosevelt? One has to ask, in the face of a well-known developing pandemic, why did the Captain make a stop in Vietnam for

crew liberty. At that time, the dangers of spread on well-appointed cruise ships were well known. It seems too obvious 5,000 or so crew in cramped warship quarters would be vulnerable to any viral spread.

Even if one excuses the foregoing, the Captain should have followed the chain of command and not announced the possible crippling of a major weapon to our adversaries. In the aftermath, some of the actions of the crew also indicated shipboard order and discipline left a lot to be desired. If they acted as they did in the face of a virus, how could they expect to endure a military attack from nuclear-armed forces? Would they simply give up? I hope this does not portend the type of crews we now have.

The Acting Secretary of the Navy, as a result, resigned. Now I hear talk of reinstating the Captain to his post. That will be another misstep.

Interesting to suddenly hear liberal commentators and personalities advocating for the Captain to get the command back. Anytime you hear of liberal support, watch out.

n old Navy Chief and an old Marine Gunny were sitting at the VFW arguing about who had the tougher career.

“I did 30 years in the Corps,” the Gunny declared proudly, “and fought in three of my country’s wars.

“Fresh out of boot camp I hit the beach at Okinawa, clawed my way up the blood soaked sand, and eventually took out an entire enemy machine gun nest with a single grenade.

“As a sergeant, I fought in Korea alongside General MacArthur.

I am sure, like me, you are now exhausted of hearing such terms. Perhaps if the whole thing had not been politicized and used to scare the heck out of us, we would all be better off. The virus has gone from the potential 200,000 worldwide cases, I said could happen by March, to now being over 2 million cases and thousands of deaths. No doubt this virus is dangerous, just as seasonal flu is dangerous. Life, in general, is dangerous. Seasonal flu kills magnitudes more on an annual basis than this viral contagion and we don’t react this way. I think President Trump has acted as he had to due to the liberal democrats, the hostile press, and the nanny state we have succumbed too. Those

HIT-HIT-HIT! Where were the extraction slicks?

The Huey choppers stripped of weight so they could carry the team

out. I was not liking this at all. Then it dawned on me. We were not going to get extracted tonight.

Stress levels started to rise.

The Lieutenant led us at a good pace along the tree line taking looks over his left shoulder toward the bamboo and the road. He went a 100-yards or so, then stopped. He glassed the road below then moved 25-yards along the tree line to a much better spot to view the road far below.

He looked at me, sm i led a nd

motioned me to sit down. He then pointed to the man who had been behind me and motioned him to move back into the trees away from the tree line.

The rest of the team followed, and I could see them moving around as they settled down to rest.

It was about this time I realized that because the team leaders were on their last mission before returning to the world, they were leaving all my OJT (On the Job Training) to the Vietnamese Lieutenant since he and I would be spending the coming year together.

I was signaled to eat. Yeah right, like I was hungry! I was again signaled to eat. I realized the Lieutenant was going to watch as I ate then I would watch as he ate.

I held out my hand for the glass and let him eat. He was hungry as he ate two bags of food. I was watching the road and the village that had been bombed. I saw nothing on the road, but people were beginning to return to what was left of the village.

A lot of innocent people are killed in wars.

Texas VFW 2466, Lubbock, initiates “Honoring the Sacrifice” Art Contest for Students K-12 During times of war, less than 1% of Americans sacrifice by joining the Armed Forces to protect the country, its people and its freedoms. This less than 1% carry with them the scars of that sacrifice. Today’s COVID-19 pandemic has caused us all to sacrifice. Americans are sacrificing some of their freedom to prevent further spread. And a very few are sacrificing their lives to treat the sick, to protect the most vulnerable and to find a cure.

In honor of that sacrifice, the Lubbock Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2466 and its Auxiliary have established a local art contest that calls for the creativity of our youth. The theme of the contest is “Honoring the Sacrifice.” The student should create art that captures the sacrifice in response to COVID-19.

• Two-dimensional art must be on canvas or paper. Watercolor, pencil, pastel, charcoal, tempera, crayon, acrylic, pen, ink, oil, marker or other media taught may be used.

• Do not frame two-dimensional pieces.

• The art should be no smaller than 8" x 10" but no larger than 18" x 24".

• Three dimensional art can be paper, papier-mâché, pottery, clay, metal work, fabric, etc.

• Pieces should be no larger than 18" in any direction.

T

he last time I wrote to you was back in February. Just a couple of months ago, we were talking about life and how it ought to be lived; we talked about the things we might need to reflect on and change. I hope that since then, you have taken a brief moment to ponder these things and maybe even get some benefit out of them.

So here we are now at the end of April. I want you to pause for a minute and ask yourself, “How am I doing?” Since February, what has changed? What have you learned… anything? What challenges you have (or haven’t) been able to overcome?

Every time we turn around, we see that a lot of things have changed.

Gun ownership has skyrocketed, with about 50% being new gun owners (which is fantastic). More people and communities are beginning to take seriously their civil liberties. More people are caring for their neighbors.

More people are beginning to shop locally. More people are having to file for unemployment. More people are waking up, either by choice or by force, to the world around them.

W hat a difference a couple of months make!

So, what does this mean for you?

What does this mean for us?

I think that at the very least, somethings ought to change. Just off the top of my head, some things that come to mind are personal and communal responsibility, involvement, and reliance. I think for too long we have seen our neighbor as an enemy, if not simply an annoyance. For me, ‘neighbor’ isn’t just defined as the person that lives right next to me or the one I work with, but the person who (fill in the blank).

That’s right, we are all each other’s neighbors.

Have you noticed that most times when you do something good for someone else because you care about their well-being that you not only feel better, but become better? If you haven’t, I encourage you to take notice of it. How about instead of hoarding all the toilet paper, we make sure that we have enough and that the person next to us has enough. I’m not saying that only a handful of individuals need to take care of the majority. I’m saying that everyone takes care of everyone.

I’m a Christian myself, so I come at this topic with a certain moral, theological, and philosophical basis.

Why do I carry a gun?

Because Chuck Norris doesn’t fit in my pocket!

But even if you aren’t a Christian, that’s okay too. We can all claim to be Americans though, right? And last time I checked, it doesn’t say

“We the bunch of individuals,” it says, “We the People.” So “We the people,” let’s start watching out for one another. Let’s start making sure our backs are covered. A lot is going on right now medically, economically, and especially politically. We won’t make it out of this stronger if we don’t act together.

I hope y’all are doing well. I hope that y’all are blessed, fed, clothed, protected, etc. If these things are being met for you and your family, thank goodness. If they aren’t, I pray that things become better soon.

Let’s make sure our neighbors are doing well so that our neighbors can make sure we are doing well.

How Do You Protect Your Family with Your New Gun?

illions of new gun owners brought their gun home. That gun in its box in the bedroom closet won’t keep you safe until it is part of your security plan. Becoming a gunfighter takes months of practice and makes you seconds faster. In contrast, having a security plan takes only a few hours and gives you minutes of advantage. Spend your time where it does the most good. This is what you should do first.

Violent crime happens suddenly so you won’t have time to tease out a plan during the event. Please plan and practice now because, during an emergency, you’ll only have the options you rehearsed. Physically walking through a safety drill makes all the difference in the world! Your mind falls back on your habits when you’re half asleep and stressed.

Another reason to build and practice your security plan is to change the world around you. If your doors are locked, then criminals often move on to try someplace else that is easier to enter. Lock your windows too. Now you can call the police and tell them that someone is moving through the neighborhood trying the doors. If you have a few dollars saved up, then add motion-activated porch lights and a

video doorbell. Those simple steps have made your family much safer.

There is another safety item that you can put in place for free. Talk with your family about what to do in an emergency. You want to retreat to a saferoom and lock the safe-room door while the bad guys are trying to kick their way into your home. Once your family is in that safe room, then you call the police. That safe room is where you stage an extra phone, a flashlight, and your keys. Press the car alarm on your key ring. Locked doors bought you that minute to react.

Do not search your house looking for the bad guy. I’ve studied about a thousand examples of armed defense.

You want to protect your family from a locked room and let the police be the ones who confront the robber.

Some people gather their loved ones in the master bedroom, and some couples move to their children’s room to protect them there. Do what works best for you.

Walkthrough your plan several times and adjust it. First, pretend you are starting from bed in the middle of the night. Also, conduct a walk-through as if you and your family were in their favorite spots during the day or at mealtime. Look to see where your family is at risk as you slowly step through your safety plan. Test it a few times, and then rehearse with your entire family. Maybe

you need another flashlight and phone in your child’s room?

Our guns have to be secure from both children, from criminals, and from crazy people. You also need your defensive gun to be available quickly. How will you do that so responsible adults can defend your family in seconds? Many of us use a small quick-access gun box when we’re not carrying our gun in a holster.

We win by staying safe until the police come and arrest the bad guy. We want to avoid a gunfight where the bad guy gets to shoot at us and the people we love. If there is a bad guy in your home, then shout that you’re armed and that you called the police. The goal is to keep our family safe, and if words will stop people from attacking them, then use words.

Unfortunately, what other people do is not up to us. Guns are not magic objects that control people’s minds; they are projectile dispensers, and nothing more. We use a gun when locked doors and harsh words don’t work. Whether the confrontation comes to that point is up to the criminal and the strength of our door locks.

Study the problems of armed defense.

We want to recognize the uncountable situations when we should not use lethal force. Maybe you should have some pepper spray with you too.

Identify the rare cases when we have to use a firearm. Shooting someone probably won’t kill them, but that is up to the doctors since almost every gunshot is eventually lethal. Recognizing what to do will save us seconds of indecision. Don’t shoot at people who are outside your home.

Take a firearms class so you are both safe and accurate with your firearm.

Don’t chase the bad guy. Stay on the phone with 911. Tell the dispatcher what you look like and what you’re wearing. You probably want to put the gun down before the police arrive.

Do what the police tell you. If you get conflicting orders, then don’t move.

Do you have a family member who can handle the phone while someone else handles a firearm?

Your security plan includes what to say to the police. Tell them you’re the person who called. You defended yourself when you faced a lethal threat. You want to press charges against your attacker. Point to any obvious evidence like broken windows and doors. Say that you’ll give a full and complete report and cooperate with the investigation after you’ve spoken to your attorney.

Now be quiet and call your lawyer.

At that moment, you are suffering a chemical brain injury from adrenaline.

Talking is more likely to hurt your situation than to improve it. You might be handcuffed and arrested. You might be taken to jail. What matters is that your family is safe.

Have a plan so you can get legal representation if you’re in jail. Buy a legal plan if you don’t have 50 thousand dollars in cash to spend on your legal defense.

Plan so your family is safe. Plan so you act within the law. That is how you protect your family.

When Man Replaces God as God

hen man denies the existence of God, or even believes himself an agnostic he, in effect, replaces God with himself as the highest entity of intelligence. This impacts his political thinking in virtually every way.

If God does not exist then he cannot be counted on to manage the planet, thus puny man must. Without faith that God oversees everything for the benefit of man the following could not be understood: the rotation of the planets, sunsets and sunrises, the consistency of gravity, wind speeds and temperature variances—even oxygen levels. Nor could the precarious balances of nature that allows a million species of plant and animal life to cohabitate simultaneously on this earth, to eat and be eaten and still survive, every hour of every single day with

little overall difference from decade to decade. If the sun refused to rise man would die in a few days, so dependent are we on an intelligence far above our own.

Without faith, man would have believed in, and been frightened by, global cooling in the 1970s, global warming in the 1990s, and climate change in the 2010s and be totally mystified as to why everyone else wasn’t as subject to manmade predictions and panicked as he. They must not be as intelligent. He could never have peace that God had everything under control.

If man has replaced God as God, he would find himself panicked over the ever-expanding population. He would look at food availability and compare it to the birthrate, as man has for thousands of years, and conclude that we have to cut the birthrate, or we will SEE WHEN MAN REPLACES GOD AS GOD | PAGE 37

What in The World is Going On?

o say the world is changing faster today than ever before would certainly sound like an understatement. In view of a Christian perspective, or any perspective, this is definitely true.

One reason for noticing the changes is because too many changes are not good changes. One verse of scripture asks; “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”, Psalms 11:3.

The foundations of our nation were derived and based on the aspects of Biblical values. For sure, there has always been opposition to these foundational values from the beginning, but today the opposition appears to have swelled. The enlarged and expeditious swelling is in contrast with a majority of people who embrace ‘silent’ convictions.

Afraid to stand up or to speak up, the ones with values give the impression they are afraid to stand out.

So, what in the world is going on today? Many believe the end of the age is at hand. Others accept the idea that life as we know it will never be the same. Most may believe that change will never cease, and change will continue with the greatest uncertainty and insecurity.

Encouragingly enough, we should

apprehend the concept that change does not normally occur by accident, but predominantly changes emerge purposefully. Let’s look at some historical dates regarding changes in the past one-hundred years. You will see what began slowly continued purposefully until today, today when change is now transpiring rapidly.

problems but let the Christian religion stay out of the reform process and continue to just ‘tend to matters’ inside the walls of the local church.

There is, some of them would say, a principle to be adhered to called the SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE while others who don’t particularly agree with the first point of view might say that THE CHURCHES SHOULD NOT EVER BE INVOLVED IN POLITICS. Are either of those ideas biblical?

Where did they come from? The first is an erroneous understanding of the First Amendment. The second has neither a historical or biblical basis and is holding the Church back when it ought to be proactive in the reform of government at all levels.

On the first point, even though the Supreme Court, counter to the vision of our founding fathers, has allowed the SEPARATION idea to creep into our system of government, to date it has had nothing to do with the political process. And hopefully, it NEVER will. The local church is free legally to be involved in our political process as much as it wants to. In the history of the United States, there has never been a court or IRS decision against a church or a Pastor for involvement in politics.

The fear of that possibility is a bogus concern that’s NEVER happened and to exclude the Church from that freedom would be unconstitutional.

The other point of view is that the local church shouldn’t be involved in politics based on the idea that the political process isn’t a religious activity. Is anybody still reading their Bibles? It’s full of politics and in case you missed it, the Kingdom of God is pure government and Jesus is the King! Several people have mentioned recently: “Jesus never tried to deal with the Roman government, therefore neither should we.” Fortunately, our founding fathers didn’t fall for such a lame idea or we would be a British Commonwealth today instead of the greatest country ever.

Rather, the American Revolution was LED by Protestant Pastors and their church congregations. They did it so

effectively that the British said they lost the war BECAUSE of the direct involvement of those churches with their wild-eyed Pastors leading the way. And by the way: Jesus said He wasn’t sent to deal with the Roman government or He would have (Matthew 26:53). He had something more important to do, like save the world.

The bottom line… all authority is delegated by God. Who’re the best ones in our society to judge the performance of those authorities and their conformance to biblical principles that God wants them to follow? Obviously, it’s the Church so it has a biblical RESPONSIBILITY to be involved in the political process, as much as possible.

of love, how exactly is love, this most important of all virtues, developed?

Some might say that it simply “happens.” Psychologist Dr. Alfred Aldler had this to say in the early 1900s: “The mother represents the greatest example of love and fellowship which the child will ever have. Her task is to relate the growing child to herself psychologically, as he was formerly related to her physically. But she must also nourish the child’s growing consciousness with true and normal conceptions of society, of work and of love.

In this way, she gradually transforms the child’s love for her and dependence upon her into a benevolent, confident, and responsible attitude towards society and the whole environment. This is the two-fold function of motherhood: to give the child the completest possible experience of human fellowship, and then to widen it into a life-attitude toward OTHERS.” Not all mothers, however, are suited to do these two most important things.

As a result, many people develop an attitude of “personal superiority” as opposed to love for others. If someone else does not step in and assume the mother’s role in regard to these essential tasks during their early years it

can lead to divisiveness, destruction, and despair.

Most often, it is another female who makes the great sacrifice of caring for another’s child. Sometimes it is a grandmother, sometimes an aunt or another relative but almost never is it a male because we men are students when it comes to love...our teachers, with the exception of Jesus, are almost always women and we are life-long learners. Adler went on to say that as a last resort, sometimes it is a therapist who performs this function.

The very best friend I have ever had was told last year that she had weeks to live. She was my model for m”otherhood” for 26 years and no one will ever know the full impact she has had on this world. At a time in our history when more and more people are willfully embracing a self-first philosophy, her whole entire life reflected just the opposite. She was the mother of five incredible adults, all of whom are deeply united to their Catholic faith, all of whom have families of their own, all of whom have connections to the helping professions, all of whom know the joy of serving their spouses, children, and others. All know love. It was a joy to watch them be surrounded by her love, leave the nest, and then begin teaching love to their own children and the importance of giving

that gift to OTHERS. Even when in great pain and discomfort, she told doctor after doctor, nurse after nurse, aide after aide that they were spending way too much time with her and that there were others who needed them even more than she did.

How could people (and even animals) not have been drawn to her because of her love which was, of course, a reflection of God, for as John (1 John 4:8) tells us so succinctly “God is love.”

Indeed, it is in the most stressful of times that love, and our true nature, is revealed. We learn very little about ourselves and others during good times but volumes during the most difficult ones.

It is the mother of Jesus who never “abandons” him. While all but one of the apostles ran for their lives, it was Mary who was there with and for her son, regardless of personal danger, thinking first not of herself. Mary, who at this time of horror was caring for a young boy named John. It is Mary at the birth of Jesus... Mary at his death...

Thank God He had a son and not a daughter because otherwise we might not have had known what love looks like in a male because it is females who have modeled love the best.

A LITTLE GOOD NEWS TODAY: Breach Birth and Downs Syndrome

ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO, I applied for some additional Life Insurance, so they sent out a Nurse to do an exam and draw blood. The Nurse brought her pregnant daughter-in-law with her. The young mother saw a sign in my kitchen that said, “Jesus Is Our Strength,” and she said, “Oh, you’re a Christian?”

I replied, “Yes I am.” Since you’re pregnant, let me tell you of a miracle that happened with a young dad and his pregnant wife. It was Sunday and we were at church. The couple was sitting in the back of the church for easy exit access just in case she went into labor.

Suddenly, I saw the husband stand up and wave his hand trying to get my attention. He motioned for me to come to him quickly. He said, “My wife is in labor, would you please come to the hospital with us for the delivery?”

I could see in their eyes that they were scared and needed support, so I smiled and said, “Sure, I’ll go with you.”

ONCE WE ARRIVED at the Hospital, they quickly escorted us into an exam room and the doctor checked for the baby’s position. He looked up and sternly said, “The child is breach, we have to take your wife in immediately and do a C-Section.”

The young husband looked up at me

with a pleading look of help, “What do I do?” I smiled at him and his wife and said, “Tell the Doctor to let us pray for your wife and the child before he takes them in for the C-Section.”

The young husband turned to the Doctor and asked, “Could we take a minute and pray for my wife before you do the C-Section?” The Doctor scoffed

and said, “No, we don’t have time for that nonsense. The quicker we get your wife in, the safer it will be for your wife and the child.”

The young husband looked at me again with desperation in his eyes, so I said, “Tell the Doctor it’s your wife and your baby, and to give you just 3 minutes to pray for her.” He reached

out and touched the Doctor on the arm and said, “It’s my wife, give us just 3 minutes to pray for her.”

The Doctor threw up his hands in disgust and shouted, “FINE!” then briskly walked out of the room.

Nothing About Being a Believer is Easy!

o many of us have questions right now... I thought would share an answer to a question I received last night from a friend.

I think a lot of us can relate to this right now.

“My youngest daughter is a Senior in HS. She hasn’t complained much about everyone’s world turned upside down and all the senior activities she and friends are missing.... but I know she is feeling more than I can imagine. We have discussed these issues, but today she asked me something that I didn’t know the best answer to give her. We were discussing the virus and praying for those affected and an end to the virus. She said, “Why can’t God end this? He could...”

Maybe you could help me with a better answer to give her.

My response… I think one of the best ways to understand it or to explain it is by describing the story of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.

In Mark 14:36 Jesus prays for God saying, “Abba Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me, yet not what I will, but what you will.”

He was asking God to remove having to die on the cross and all He was about to endure. Why would a father allow his son to have to go through all of that pain and suffering and then allow Him to die?

Jesus is ALWAYS our example! He knows it is possible for God because He knows God, but He also knows “His Will Be Done.” He has a will, He has a plan; and just like Jesus knew, we also know because of His word, that God is Good!

It is ONLY through faith that we believe.

We need to know He is Good.

We need to know He has a bigger and better plan.

We need to believe He is the beginning and the end. He sees ahead.

Our ways are not His ways.

W hat we are seeing may seem like a bad thing but may actually be something beautiful that we just can’t see yet. We need to pray and ask God to open our eyes to it, so we don’t miss an opportunity for growth through this. A growth that will allow us to better understand Him and be drawn closer to him.

He is the God of restoration. He allowed Jesus... His ONLY son to die on the cross because HE KNEW it was for a better good!

He gives and He takes away. We just need to TRUST in Him. We need to trust in what we know and believe about Him. He created the universe. He created life. He holds the world and every spec of sand and piece of hair in it. He holds the stars. He tells the waves where to stop. I would trust Him and follow

Him anywhere; every day of my life because of that and that alone.

Not everything about Him will make sense... no one can explain Him, and that is okay!!! We just

need to know WHO He is. He is (fill in the blanks with all that you know)... He is wonderful. He is all-knowing. He is the beginning SEE BELIEVER IS EASY | PAGE 36

ne Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Alex standing in the foyer of the church staring up at a large plaque.

It was covered with names and small American flags mounted on either side of it.

The six-year old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up; stood beside the little boy; and said quietly, “Good morning, Alex.”

“Good morning. Pastor,” he replied, still focused on the plaque. “Pastor, what is this?”

The pastor replied, “Well, son, it’s a memorial to all the young men and women who died in the service.”

Soberly, they just stood together, staring at the large plaque.

Finally, little Alex’s voice, barely audible and trembling with fear asked, “Which service, the 8:00 or the 10:30?”

legalize same-sex marriage through popular vote. Then under the direction of the Boy Scouts of America, CEO Rex Tillerson allows gay leaders into the arena.

Later, the US Supreme Court sanctions same-sex marriage. Then, the Kentucky clerk in Rowan County is jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

President Obama introduces us to a great recession while his princess, Hillary Clinton, mishandles the Benghazi attack.

I would be surprised if this surprises you. In 2014, the Chinese government suspends the operations of a Shanghai meat dealer and makes arrests after the company sold outof-date meat to fast-food chains, including McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

California becomes the largest US state to legalize cannabis for recreational use. F.B.I deputy director Andrew G. McCabe is removed from office. Michigan State University pays $500 million in claims to 300 survivors of sexual abuse involving Larry Nassar; the largest sexual abuse case in sports history. US Justice Department concludes James Comey was “insubordinate” in his handling of Hillary Clinton investigation in 2016. The impeachment hoax was a charade and a travesty as well. Jeffery Epstein was murdered in his jail cell before he could be a

witness against those who enjoyed sex with children on his private island. Hunter Biden’s escapade in Ukraine seems to be swept under the rug.

You can add names to the list. It’s the same song, just another verse.

The Coronavirus brings out other issues as terrible as Governors, Mayors, and County Judges becoming tyrants over the very same people who set them into office.

Bizarre! Turning neighbor against neig hbor, restricti ng fa m i l ies from being together, minimizing the value of and restricting church attendance, how much worse can it become? People are acting as though everyone is contaminated.

Supplanting faith and confidence with doubts and fears while restricting cures for the virus and

treatments for the masses with other ailments is sinful.

“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

We will rise and shine, as we re-establish the convictions and virtues that made this nation great, so we will make it great again.

eventually starve. He would not see that God feeds even the birds who do nothing for it. He would never concede that God would enable man to invent the plow, the tractor, or the combine to increase the food supply and trucks, boats, and planes to move it about.

If man has replaced God as God he would tend to favor a regimental form of government like socialism so that he could make everyone else do as he supposed was best for them. He would never allow natural law where each decides for themselves what is best for them, amplifying incentive, and in such the whole society is benefited. No never!! It would be too dangerous left without total control.

Even thought, if possible, must be managed and cameras and drones placed everywhere to see that it is.

Freedom dies.

If man has replaced God as God, he would credit himself with his success, money, inventions, and power.

Thus, he expects dominion over others because these things, in his mind, demonstrate his superiority.

If man has replaced God as God there could be no ultimate moral authority, translated—no evil, thus no sin, no justice, and no heaven or hell. No security of rights or property would exist. Man justifies his actions with whatever logic suits him—“might is right” has been a

consistent philosophy of human existence in societies without God. Man exists only until his death, just like all life. No afterlife with friends and associates or loved ones. No reward or punishment. No sanctity of life thus abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia are practiced because their space benefits those living. The weak and vulnerable are cast aside or extinguished.

If man has replaced God as God, he might also feel it necessary to compete with God for authority and dominion. Jews lay claim to have been the most persecuted race on the globe the last 2,000 years, worthy only of extinction in the gas chambers of Hitler’s Third Reich.

Christians were fed to the lions in Roman coliseum’s for entertainment in their early centuries under Roman authority. Today they are the most widely persecuted religion, especially in the Middle East and Africa.

Moslems are the most persecuted religion in China with at least a million Uighurs, incarcerated in slave labor camps for their religion, also serving as organ donors on demand for the western world.

When man doesn’t need God, he does not seek Him. Consequently, prayer, inspiration, and revelation also are largely muted. Creativity diminishes. Nor is faith needed or nurtured. As I write this commentary, Easter celebration worshippers prepare to gather in their cars on Resurrection Day, six feet apart or are staying home and watching their service online. On the first visit to the empty tomb, where the crucified body of Jesus was laid to rest on Great Friday, the followers of Jesus were huddled in fear in someone’s home.

(Sound familiar. For two long, uncertain filled days, the smokescreen of death hung over a grave, sealed, and guarded by soldiers. But Sunday was coming. The violence of God allowing His Son to be hung on a killing tree to win the war over sin truly was costly. The war against

www.CaprockPatriot.com sin continues, but victory is sure because Jesus rose from that grave and He is alive!

The COVID-19 is far different than anything we have seen on earth since 1918. Some say it is God’s judgment in response to our worship of other gods, i.e. our economic portfolios, our contagious rebellion against God’s definition of what is “normal”, etc.

Others say, in the smokescreen of our total loss of control over so much that we took for granted, God is using this COVID-19 virus as a megaphone to get our attention. “H-E-L-L-O! Can you hea r me now?” Authority over our health and finances has been ripped from our control. God’s mercy will allow us to defeat this invisible enemy as our invisible humility motivates us to acknowledge that we need to worship our

Creator and not our creations.

God always appreciates our, “Yes, Abba Daddy”!

A recent quote that I heard, urges us to find beauty in barbed wire.

The COVID-19 virus certainly has fenced in our movements in so many ways. Driving by a stack of silent airline planes at our local airport, makes me pause with awe at the power of an invisible virus to grind our high-f lying economy to a stand-still. But Sunday is coming, the smoke of doubt will clear, this war can be won, so help us, God! Not by our might but by My Spirit still shouts Almighty God who forever holds the whole world in His hands.

“Fear not!” are words that appear 365 times in the Bible. We need to hear those words daily, not from the White House or Wall Street, or the Coronavirus-19 Task Force,

but from the still small voice of our living God. When the smoke of this COVID-19 virus clears, what will you see? Remember the war over fear has been won. The cost was truly high for Jesus, who promises to everyone a peace that passes all human understanding in any storm.

her to put her hand on her stomach, where she could feel the child, then told the father to put his hand on his wife’s hand. Then I softly placed my hand on top of theirs and began to pray; “Father, thank you that you are here with us and that you hear us always when we pray. You said in Psalms that you were there in the darkness of the womb, forming this child’s inward parts and knitting this child together. You knew this child even before it was conceived.

This child is fearfully and wonderfully made. Now, you gave us authority in Jesus’ name, so together in agreement and in the name of Jesus, we speak to this child in the womb and command it to turn right now, and get into the right position for a normal delivery.”

THE DOCTOR CAME BACK into the

room and in a perturbed voice said, “Now can I please take her in and do the C-Section?” The dad smiled and said, “No, not just yet. I want you to check one more time and see if the baby is still breached.”

The Doctor loudly said, “FINE!” and began to check one more time.

He slowly stood up and had the sickest look on his face. He very quietly said, “The baby’s head is down in the birth canal. It’s not breached anymore. We won’t have to do a C-section.”

The young mother in my house began to cry. She said, “My doctor did an amniocentesis and said my baby has Down’s Syndrome and is pressuring me to have an abortion. Would you pray for me and my baby?”

I smiled and said, “Put your hand on your stomach, then I told the Mother-in-law to put her hand over the young mother’s hand, then I put

mine on top of theirs.” I began to pray with absolute confidence talking to my heavenly Father just like He was right there in the room with us. I asked Him to reach through our hands and touch this child in the womb and heal it completely and cause the child to be born healthy with no trace of Down’s Syndrome.

We ask all of this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

IT HAS BEEN FIVE YEARS since I saw or heard of this young mother whom the doctor said her child would be born with Down’s Syndrome. Last month, I applied again with another Life Insurance company. They gave me a phone number to call and set up an appointment with a Nurse to come and do the exam and draw blood. Once I talked with the Nurse and set the appt. date, I said, “Your voice sounds familiar. Have you ever been to my house before for an exam?”

She said that she had not been to my house. I said, “If you are the Nurse, you would have brought your daughter-in-law with you and she was pregnant and asked me to pray for her and her baby because her doctor said the baby had Down’s Syndrome.”

She said, “Oh my gosh! That was me and my daughter-in-law. The baby was born perfectly healthy and did not have Down’s Syndrome which really puzzled the doctors. He is five years old now and his name is Cooper.”

Now, that’s A Little Good News Today!
