The US is certainly experiencing an “invasion” of sorts on our southern border. The real issue is created by globalist politicians, in

“All Went to the University… Where They Came Out All the Same”

tudent unrest in many universities demonstrates what is becoming obvious; institutions of higher learning are becoming radicalized and project intolerance for anything but a liberal view. Too few permit conservative or libertarian speakers and far fewer a constitutionalist.

I was not surprised, some years ago, to hear a mother share with me her son’s fear that he did not wish to attend college because he did not wish to be politically indoctrinated. Parents increasingly worry about the radicalization of their children as well. As the years go by, I hear this more frequently.

Often when asked my profession, a political science professor, I get that look, “Oh! You’re one of those.” So, the assumption is that professors, especially those in political science, are socialists or worse: Unfortunately, this is largely true.

College is supposed to be a “big tent” housing all types of thinking so that the student can gravitate to what he thinks best after all sides are presented.

Although everyone gives lip service to this statement, there still exists a preferred philosophy. Most colleges insist that they adhere to intellectual diversity, but the evidence and textbooks suggest otherwise; the vast majority of colleges and universities are weighted in favor of one ideology and professors to one political party. This is not hidden. Some political science textbooks acknowledge this.

There exists a consensus of what a “good education” is. Students are immersed in race consciousness,

feminism, multiculturalism, environmentalism, collectivism, globalism, political activism, class warfare, global warming, acceptance of sexual deviations as normal, and minimization of the importance of Christianity. The end product, the student, must come to accept the above script. It is also in virtually all textbooks. It’s not that any of these notions are bad, in and of themselves, but it is the nearly universal absence of the opposing view that is most troubling parents/students who do not want the indoctrination.

This reminds me of the 1960’s popular tune “Little Boxes” by Malvina Reynolds with lyrics. “And the people in the houses…made of ticky tacky… All went to the university, Where they were put in boxes And they came out all the same.”

It’s not fear of political science classes alone in most colleges and universities.

Students can escape the indoctrination across the hall in a history or sociology class. Not so! Such bias permeates most academic areas. An English professor from a large Midwestern university, who did not wish to be identified because of possible retribution, spoke of English classes giving less emphasis on grammar, punctuation, or sentence structure and more on the political correctness. “Everything from Theater to Philosophy to History to English has, in effect, become sociology,” he wrote. “Teaching subject matter has become less important than teaching a very political perspective.” In the end, “They get taught the same thing over and over: a radical critique of the entire American social structure, an SEE ALL WENT TO THE UNIVERSITY| PAGE 43

Being a Racist Is Easy Today

ears ago, it was hard to be a racist. You had to be fitted for and spend money on a white gown and don a pointy hat.

You celebrated racism by getting some burlap, wrapping it around a cross, setting it ablaze and dancing around it carrying torches. Sometimes, as did Lester Maddox, you had to buy axe handles for yourself and your supporters to wield to forcibly turn away black customers from your restaurant. Or, as in the case of Theophilus “Bull” Connor, you had to learn to direct fire hoses and vicious police attack dogs against civil rights demonstrators.

Younger racists, along with their parents, had to memorize poems for whenever a black student showed up for admission to their high school or college. For example, “Two, four, six, eight, we don’t want to integrate!”

Of course, there were a host of racial slurs and epithets that could be hurled, with impunity, at any black person in your presence. In earlier times, you didn’t have to be sophisticated, but it took a bit of work, to be a racist.

Today, all that has changed. To be a racist today takes little effort. For example, one can sit back in his easy chair and declare that he’s for acrossthe-board tax cuts. That makes you a racist. If you don’t believe me, think back to 1994 when the Republican-led Congress pushed for a tax-cut measure. Former U.S. House of Representatives member Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., denouncing the Republican’s

plan before a Manhattan audience as a form of modern-day racism said: “It’s not ‘spic’ or ‘n—–‘ anymore.

(Instead,) they say, ‘Let’s cut taxes.’”

A few months later, he compared the GOP’s “Contract with America” to measures in Nazi Germany saying, “Hitler wasn’t even talking about doing these things.”

One can be labeled a racist through a set of “microaggressions” listed in “Diversity in the Classroom, UCLA Diversity & Faculty Development” from 2014.

Here are a few statements one should avoid: “You are a credit to your race.” “Wow! How did you become so good in math?” “There is only one race, the human race.”

“I’m not racist. I have several Black friends.” “As a woman, I know what you go through as a racial minority.”

But most instances of microaggressions are less overt. There are college microaggressions such as a male student rolling his eyes when a female student speaks, or people not wanting to be in study groups with those of different races.

Perhaps the easiest way to be labeled a racist is to suggest that a wall be built on our border with Mexico in order to keep people from Mexico and points south from entering our nation illegally. Also, a slamdunk charge of racism is to say that the standard practice of separating children from parents is Nazi-like.

But imagine you are stopped with your child in the car and charged with a DUI in any of our 50 states.

You’re going to be arrested and your child taken to protective child services. The identical practice on our southern border becomes racism.

As veteran journalist Brit Hume said about the uproar over Presid e n t D o n a l d T r u m p ’s l a t e s t bomb-throwing: “Trump’s ‘go back’ comments were nativist, xenophobic, counterfactual and politically stupid. But they simply do not meet the standard definition of racist, a word so recklessly flung around these days that its actual meaning is being lost.” The president cleaned up his remarks a few days later saying: “These are people that hate our country. If you’re not happy in the U.S., if you’re complaining all the time, very simply, you can leave.”

By the way, leaving isn’t Trump’s idea. Many leftists pledged to flee America altogether if Trump were elected president.

The bottom line is that when leftists have no other winning argument, they falsely accuse others of racism. Republicans cower at the charge and often give the leftists what they want. Black Americans who are octogenarians, or nearly so, need to explain what true racism is, not to correct white liberals but to inform young black people.

In War, Knowing the Enemy & Bold Action Are Keys to Victory

ppeasement, weakness, and cowardice never won a war.

Today’s republican “leaders” around the United States, from local officials to Governors to Members of Congress to the national GOP leadership, have failed and refused to speak about the threat Islam poses to A merica and its citizens.

With the exception of the President himself, republicans have chosen to avoid “controversy” and “conflict” in order to “find common ground” in the issues America faces today.

How do people who have sworn an oath to “protect and defend” the Constitution of the United States “against all enemies, foreign and domestic” find common ground with Marxists and jihadis?

Marxism calls for the destruction of Christianity and the overt h row of a l l gover n ments not based in Marxism – the root of socialism and communism. This totalitarian ideology necessarily destroys individual liberty and drives societies towards slavery and impoverishment.

Islam demands all humans on the planet submit to “Allah’s divine law”/sharia, voluntarily or through coercion. Those who do not submit must be killed. There is no other authoritative “version” of Islam taught anywhere at any Islamic school on earth and there never has been.

There are 1400 years of history detailing Islam’s destructive and barbaric path. Yet, despite the evidence from many U.S. terrorism trials and the consistent pronouncements of Islamic leaders, revealing their

significant and successful efforts in America to destroy our government and way of life, the nearly all Republicans are silent.

They are not only silent, Republicans (John McCain, Mitt Romney, Marco Rubio, etc) attack those who speak truth about Islam and/or they tell us Islam is a “peaceful religion” that rejects violence (President GW Bush), despite the fact muslims teach muslim children the exact opposite in U.S. Islamic schools.

When engaged in a war, the decision to avoid conflict and controversy is tantamount to surrender.

That is what the GOP has done across the board.

The democrat party, at the national level, has embraced Marxism and is advancing its cause. Their actions are predictable and expected.

The Islamic Counter-State in the U.S. works to overthrow America’s Constitutional Republic and establish an Islamic State under sharia, per universal Islamic doctrine. No surprises.

It is the republican party at the national and, in many cases, the state level, which made a decision not to discuss Islam to avoid conflict.

It is Republican governors, representatives, and senators who are

sitting on their hands while enemies of the Republic roll forward.

The hour is late, and the enemy is reaching the climax of their strategy. Meanwhile, no republican leader is articulating the threat of the Marxist and Islamic CounterStates, and the radical action needed to deal with them immediately.

The Titanic is 2/3 underwater and the republicans are on the deck discussing fiscal policy.

Not to engage t hese enem ies in a time of war is equivalent of surrender.

Encourage your local, state, and national Republican leaders to understand the threat, speak truth boldly about the threat, and join UTT in implementing the victory strategy to WIN this war.

Barbarism or Civility? America Must Choose

he recent violence has absorbed the nation and left some numb, others angry, others devastated, and still others with a penchant to capitalize over the bodies of the dead. This capitalizing over dead bodies is called politics, and that is nothing new.

As awful as these bloodbaths are, they are not solely political issues. In fact, they should make us pause and ask some simple questions: Is there really a difference between a rifle used as an assault weapon, a handgun used to perpetrate a crime, and the abortionist’s knife? Does it really matter whether an innocent person dies because of the ingestion of a birth control chemical or a poisoned cocktail? Isn’t every violently killed human being a tragedy?

The truth is, that since the decriminalization of contraception in 1965, the laws of our nation have been turned upside down. That decision paved the way for what followed eight years later, the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton Supreme Court decisions that decriminalized the act of surgical abortion—an act that murders a human being. The results of these decisions have been the deaths of millions of individuals and the desensitization of the conscience of a nation.

How can we know this? All we have to do is critically think about what has resulted from the past 54 years of decriminalized preborn child killing, some of it intentional, some of it unintentional, yet all of it deadly.

womb. Yet today there are organizations like the Pill Club—a website that makes acquiring birth control easy—that fail to explain how the pill may work to kill a preborn baby.

Back in the day, could you ever have imagined an elected official publicly proclaiming that abortion is a “sacred choice”?

Perhaps not, but today there are state lawmakers who argue that there should be a law that requires 50 percent of a lawmaking body to be women before any proposals being considered that might affect the availability of abortion. Why? The answer is simple: The act of abortion is now considered by most folks to be a health question that involves women, not men. But as one writer reminds us: “Abortion is about ‘women’s health care’ the way that the Civil War was said to be about ‘states’ rights.’ It’s a convenient distraction from the moral atrocity that defines the conflict, designed to make those who take the odious position seem justified.”

The lives of human beings are cheapened, their human dignity assaulted, and the culture wounded every time a person is intentionally killed, whether by rifle, knife, ingestion of a deadly chemical, abortion, euthanasia, or some other travesty that robs the innocent of their lives. This is why in

our day it seems that our throw-away society can no longer draw a line.

When Archbishop Charles Chaput tells us that “treating the symptoms in a culture of violence doesn’t work” he is not wrong. He suggests we look deeper. It seems that self-examination is where each of us should begin.

If I might offer a simple starting point for conversations about what is happening to America, it would be this: We should ask where our rights actually come from—the state or the Lord? It is in that question, as Father Michael Orsi points out, that we learn the way to bring healing to our broken culture. He says: God gives you your rights. . . . They are anchored in God. . . . And so, God sets the standard for what is right and what is wrong... And in order to have a healthy political system, in order to have America as we know America, God has to play an important role in our civil discourse.

Civility begins with honesty and the ability to discern what is right and what is wrong.

Which will Americans choose: barbarism or civility?

AAADD Know the Symptoms!

Thank goodness there’s a name for this disorder. Age-Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests: I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mailbox earlier. I decided to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.

So, I decided to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first...

But then I think… Since I’m going to be near the mailbox, when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my checkbook off the table and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study. So, I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi I’d been drinking. I’m going to look for my checks. But first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don’t accidentally knock it over. The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye… they need water. I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I’ve been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my

desk, but first I’m going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter while I fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I’ll be looking for the remote, but I won’t remember that it’s on the kitchen table, so I decided to put it back in the den where it belongs, But first I’ll water the flowers. I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day: • The car isn’t washed, • The bills aren’t paid, • There is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter • The flowers don’t have enough water, • There is still only one check in my checkbook • I can’t find the remote • I can’t find my glasses • And I don’t remember what I did with the car keys Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I’m really baffled because I know I was busy all day. And I’m really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I’ll try to get some help for it. But first I’ll check my e-mail...

Do the Democrats Have an Issue?

T

he poor Democrats: As the Russia collusion/Mueller investigation issue disappeared into nothingness like so much skywriting wisping away into the winds, so too did the surefire issue with which the Dems thought the White House would automatically be theirs in 2020. The candidate himself was irrelevant, an afterthought. We have it in the bag, the Dems thought. It’s just a matter of to which person we bestow the privilege of the presidency this time around.

Let’s pick a good one: a woman. No, a woman of color. No, a gay. No, a Hispanic. Perhaps an American Indian.

But that slam-dunk Russia issue is gone. Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff are still flailing about, trying to collect their “undeniable” Russian collusion

evidence and convince the rest of the Democratic caucus to initiate impeachment proceedings.

It looks doubtful that that’s going to come to pass. So, the “president’s a

crook” angle apparently is not going to deliver a greased downhill slide into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the Democrats. It appears — at this juncture, at least — that the Democrats

will actually have to come up with a convincing policy platform in order to win the White House. They’ll have to identify substantive issues of actual importance and persuade enough undecideds that the Democratic Party will improve their lives and make the country safer and more prosperous.

What are their issues? What are the candidates putting forth thus far?

Does any of them seem like a gamechanger, the lynchpin to electoral victory?

One policy they’ve all put forth, in one form or another, is a single-payer government-run health care system, sometimes referred to as Medicare for All. The Powerful Transition from Negative to Positive

W

hen most people think of the word success, they think of it in connection to their career or a sporting event. I used to be part of that group, but experience and age have taught me that limiting my definition of success, robbed me of the joy of life. I now think of the word success as all-encompassing. I think of living a successful life.

Sure, career is an important component, but also being a successful husband, parent, grandparent and friend are just as important to me as my career. At this stage in my life, I want to be happy and joyful, which is now my real definition of success.

What we look for, we usually find.

I am an eternal optimist and I am proud of it. I am always bewildered

by pessimists. I understand that being one or the other is a choice we make.

I will never understand why someone would choose to look for and expect the worst in life. Yes, being an optimist sometimes leads to temporary disappointment, but pessimism almost always guarantees it.

I always think of life as an Asian Ying-Yang. You’ve seen them before.

A perfect circle where each half is a mirror image of each other. One is white and one is black. I believe it is a perfect representation of life, where half is negative, and half is positive. I don’t live a “Pollyannaish” life where I pretend everything is good, clean, pure and positive. I fully acknowledge the famine, disease, poverty, tragedy, hate, and evil in the world.

To ignore it and act as if it doesn’t exist is naïve. To pretend it doesn’t

exist puts us at risk of falling into it.

I see it, understand it but avoid it like a contagious plague … because that is what it is. I acknowledge it all but choose to live my life in opposition. It is the optimists who create solutions to overcome the negative in the world, while it is the negative that is always the enemy of the positive.

If you line up a hundred random but negative thinking people and ask them if they are positive, almost all will say yes. We usually recognize the negativity in others but rarely in ourselves.

So how do we change our outlook

from negative to positive? Choose to do so. It takes a conscious decision and an action plan to make it happen.

“I feel good! I am healthy, positive and happy! I love my family! I love my job! I will succeed in the task ahead!”

To many, it sounds silly, but the voice inside our heads is our worst enemy and when we listen closely, that voice sounds eerily like ours. No other person has the power of influence over our attitude more than ours. The first step to living a positive life is to say positive things about ourselves. I ask you this often, but what is the voice inside your head saying about you? Is it encouraging and positive? Or is it discouraging, negative and damaging to your future?

MEDIA BIAS VS TRUTH: Stand Firm

tanding firm during a debate can be a little tricky these days especially when trying to communicate those things which we know are true. Whether discussing issues on a college campus, speaking to an inquisitive audience, preaching from a pulpit, or relaying information to the media, the harsh reality is that the opposition is quick to label those who share a different perspective. Those who have a different view may revert to name-calling using such terms as racist, white supremacist, bigot, Islamophobe, etc.

I know the media has a job to do and I realize it is a multi-billion dollar business, but when reading or hearing about the news of the day, it would seem professional just to report the facts instead of injecting degrading terms about those with whom they disagree.

Why is it that most major media conglomerates have a liberal bent with the vast majority of journalists, anchors, and corporate media leaders who portray, among other things, that Islam is a “religion of peace?” As we have found from the Qur’an, this is a false narrative. Yet, this does not necessarily explain why journalists still will not report truthfully about Islam and the danger its ideology poses to our Constitutional Republic and our citizens.

Does this biased narrative add to the sensational delivery of the event or story? Why is it that when a terrorist attack occurs the news report explains the horrid event was because the jihadist was offended and therefore took revenge on his victims. Is this the journalist’s reasoning, partnering with the seduction? A portion of the answer can be found in the materials taught to members of the media by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).

The SPJ’s Code of Ethics states their four principles are: • Seek truth and report it

• Minimize harm • Act Independently • Be accountable and independent The four principles sound harmless and even professional, yet when a reader examines the SPJ’s Guidelines for Countering Racial, Ethnic, and Religious Profiling, it is evident the SPJ violates its own ethical principles. For example, journalists/reporters are encouraged by SPJ to “portray Muslims… in the richness of their diverse experience.” In key stories regarding Islam and jihadis, the SPJ instructs reporters as follows: “When writing about terrorism, remember to include white supremacist, radical anti-abortionists and other groups with a history of such activity.” In other words, “ensure to build relativism into the story so as to minimize the dangers of Islamic jihadis and Islam… Avoid using word combinations such as ‘Islamic terrorist’ or ‘Muslim extremist’ that are misleading because they link whole religions to criminal activity.”

Have you noticed how some of these terms used by the media and the left seem to be utilized as a tactic to shut down discussion or debate? When one of the Muslim women newly elected to Congress expressed in a speech “some people did something,” it was quite contrastive to how most people would have described a watershed event in

which terrorists killed as many people as possible by turning planes into missiles.

Yet this was how Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) referred to the 9/11 attacks at a CAIR fundraiser recently.

Most of the public was stunned at the nonchalant response to this horrific event in our recent history. But when our President responded in a tweet with all capital letters, “we will never forget” alongside a video showing images of the twin towers being hit, the response from the media and the left reverted to the Islamophobia card. Using “Islamophobic” seems to be a shallow way of summing up our President’s solid defense of America against the terrorist attack. But by using Islamophobia it allows the media, the left, and even Muslims to use the term to shut down criticism of their religion and impose an informal blasphemy law.

The deployment of the Islamophobia label is not restricted to shutting down criticism of religion. Islamophobia was deployed as a shield to protect Omar from valid criticism of her comments. During the same speech at the fundraising event for CAIR, Rep. Ilhan Omar said U.S. Muslims should confront discrimination. “So, to me, I say raise hell. Make people uncomfortable,” Ms. Omar said as the crowd cheered. “Because here’s the truth:

Far too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen and frankly I’m tired of it, and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it!”

Wow, that reveals some heart issues of a Somalian woman who migrated to the United States, was granted citizenship at age 17, was educated, was given opportunity to be employed and was recently elected to Congress! If that is being a second-class citizen, what class is one whose faith and conviction gets him/her fired from a job, sued for not making a cake or arranging flowers for a wedding, assaulted for wearing a MAGA hat, harassed while speaking on a college campus, mocked for being pleasant while a Native-American beats a drum in his face, censored for speaking truth on YouTube, persecuted for wearing a cross necklace, or belittled for saying she is pro-life and doesn’t want babies killed in or out of the womb?

Realizing we are in a spiritual battle for the heart of our Nation, combating this bias requires some equipment.

Birthright Citizenship Is Unconstitutional

A

re children of illegal aliens born on American soil U.S. citizens? The Constitution says no.

Here is the actual language of the 14th Amendment (emphasis mine throughout): “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

Birthright citizenship only belongs to those who were subject to the jurisdiction of the United States the moment they were born. But children of illegal aliens are not.

Since the parents are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, neither are their children. They are,

in plain fact, not citizens of the U.S. by birth.

As I frequently say on my radio program, this is not rocket surgery. Illegal aliens by definition are not “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States.

They, like diplomats, are “subject to the jurisdiction” of their homeland.

Illegal aliens are called “illegal” aliens for the precise reason that they are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, which is why they can be deported once apprehended. Legally and constitutionally, their children are no more “subject to the jurisdiction” of the U.S. than their parents are. If a child’s parents are not American citizens when the child is born, neither is he.

We are all familiar with the concept of “diplomatic immunity,” which diplomats often use to get themselves and

their children out of trouble on American soil by claiming that the children are not under the authority of American law. All the American government can do in such circumstances is send them back to their home country. That is, all they can do is deport them.

It’s worthy of note that the word “diplomat” is not in the 14th Amendment.

The children of a diplomat are not regarded as citizens by birth because their father is a diplomat, but because he is a citizen of a foreign country.

Since the parents are not “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States, neither are the children.

The logic is inescapable. If the children of foreign diplomats are not U.S. citizens by birth, how is it possible that children of illegal aliens could be?

A key question has to do with the precise meaning of the Jurisdiction Clause in 1868 when the Fourteenth Amendment was ratified. The best tool for answering that question is to look at the Civil Rights Act of 1866, enacted the same year that the Fourteenth Amendment was written by Congress.

The 14th Amendment was intended, in fact, to elevate the provisions of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 to constitutional status and authority and insulate it from legal challenge.

The Civil Rights Act included a provision to secure citizenship for former slaves, to nullify the infamous Dred Scott opinion. The provision read, “All persons born in the United States, and not subject to any foreign power, excluding Indians not taxed, are hereby declared to be citizens of the United States...”

According to the CRA, Indians who were not taxed were not eligible for citizenship. The reason they weren’t taxed by the United States was that they were subject to the “foreign power” of the sovereign Indian nations to which they belonged.

As Ken Kuklowski puts it, “The

Fourteenth Amendment only commands citizenship to persons born on U.S. soil to parents who are not citizens of a foreign country...”

Rep. John Bingham of Ohio, considered the father of the 14th Amendment, explained the language of the amendment this way: “every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your constitution itself a natural born citizen…”

The “Jurisdiction” clause was added to the 14th Amendment only after a lengthy debate. According to NumbersUSA, Sen. Jacob Howard of Michigan proposed the amendment because he wanted to make it clear that the simple accident of birth on U.S. soil was not in fact enough to confer citizenship.

Sen. Howard said the jurisdiction requirement is “simply declaratory of what I regard as the law of the land already,” an apparent reference to the Civil Rights Act of 1866.

In his debate, Sen. Howard said, “[T] his will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States...”

Republican Party of Texas Volunteer Engagement Project (VEP)

n June, the Republican Party of Texas announced the creation of the Volunteer Engagement Project (VEP) at a special reception during the 2nd Quarterly State Republican Executive Committee meeting. During that meeting, we announced that the initial resources to fund the effort have been raised and the effort was officially launched! The project focuses on volunteer recruitment, revitalizing Republican organizations, and engaging in nuts-and-bolts party building for the 2020 election cycle, such as voter registration. We must work harder to grow exponentially for success in 2020 and this committee is a big part of making big things

happen to win in Texas in 2020.

The working group for the VEP will include Mitch Carney, Republican Party of Texas (RPT) Political Director, Steve Munisteri, former RPT Chairman, Karen Newton, President of the Texas Federation of Republican Women (TFRW), Jack Barcroft,

Chairman of the Texas Republican County Chairmen’s Association (TRCCA), Kathaleen Wall, Chairwoman of the RPT Voter Registration group, Sarah Saiz, Political Director for Texans for Greg Abbott (TGA), Trey Trainor, RPT Assistant General Counsel, and myself. Karl Rove has graciously donated his time to provide strategic advice to this project.

On August 5th, we held our first meeting of the VEP working group I appointed to act as the Board of Directors for the project. During this meeting, we approved the budget and plan which will enable us to register more Texans, build an enthusiastic volunteer base, and to engage voters throughout the Lone Star State.

This project has become a model for other states around the nation to follow - as evidenced by the RNC asking us to

give a presentation on it on August 1st during their quarterly meeting in Charlotte. We are very proud that we started this project nearly 16 months ahead of the 2020 General Election! There is still an incredible amount of work that must be done. We are committed to doing so and committed to supporting all of our candidates up and down the ballot.

Violence from the Left

s I have said before and will say again: pay attention to what the progressive socialist left does not talk about. It tells you all you need to know about these delusional, deranged individuals.

For instance, there were three tragic shootings a few weekends ago in our America — El Paso Texas, Dayton Ohio, and Chicago, Illinois.

And what did you not hear the left talking about? Heavily emphasizing, yes, the shootings in Dayton and Chicago. The shooter in Dayton was one of their own, a sick, demented individual who kept hit and rape lists. That shooter was an avowed Elizabeth Warren supporter. Why no condemnation of Warren? Just like with the shooter of the GOP baseball team, an avowed leftist, Bernie Sanders supporter, no condemnation of ol’ Bernie and his rhetoric. Nope.

And, certainly, forget about the left addressing any of the shootings that regularly happen each weekend in Chicago. Well, unless . . . unless it is a case where the left can leverage the shooting to support their ideological narrative, such as a police shooting of a black male. However, when 7 blacks are killed and 55 blacks are shot in a weekend, you will not hear a peep from the Democrat (socialist) Party, or their little street gang called Black Lives Matter.

W hen Antifa is out and about beating on conservatives you hear nothing but crickets from the left.

However, anyone supporting President Trump is a racist, white nationalist, and white supremacist. But, Margaret Sanger is just cool for the progressive socialist left . . . and so is murdering 20 million black babies in the womb.

But, consider the vile, vitriol of the left leveraged against our law

enforcement officers. “Pigs in a blanket, fry them like bacon,” “What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want it? Now!” Our border patrol agents are running “concentration camps.” Comparing our ICE officers to Nazis. Where is the condemnation of this rhetoric? Yes, you are right, this is what you will never hear from the left, nor when it manifests itself.

I am quite certain there was little to no coverage of the leftist attacks against ICE facilities in Aurora, Colorado where the US Flag was ripped down and replaced with the Mexican flag. And the Blue Lives Matter flag was defaced. We hear little to nothing about the Antifa-inspired attacks against an ICE facility in Seattle, Washington where the assailant was armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a Molotov cocktail.

We never heard anything about gun control after that attack, or the GOP baseball team shooting, either. Heck, the Seattle ICE facility attacker was even praised on the progressive socialist Antifa websites. Any leftist media outlets report on that? Or where was the call to tone down the rhetoric?

So again, the call to violence by the left manifested itself again. This time it happened in the city where a federally-elected official made his own “hit list” of supporters of President Trump and their businesses: San Antonio.

As reported by the Washington Examiner: “Police in San Antonio arrested a man early Tuesday morning in connection with gunshots fired through the windows of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in the city, according to the agency.

Local law enforcement responded around 3 a.m. CT Tuesday to shots fired at the ICE field office located north of Interstate 410 near

Brookhaven Drive, the FBI confirmed in a statement provided to the Washington Examiner.

“Shortly before or after, shots were also fired at a nearby building. Both buildings also house businesses completely unrelated to ICE operations.

No injuries were reported. The FBI has opened an investigation into the shootings and is currently processing the crime scenes and reviewing surveillance footage,” the FBI continued.

Christopher Combs, special agent in charge of the FBI’s San Antonio operations, called the shootings “cowardly, brazen, violent acts.” “An attempt to attack federal employees is a federal crime with serious consequences. The FBI will relentlessly pursue every lead in this case to find the individuals who are responsible,” Combs said in a statement.”

So, I have a question: is it a federal crime to incite such cowardly, brazen, and violent acts? We need to start being honest here: President Trump had nothing to do with the crazed, maniacal actions of the El Paso shooter. Come winter, the ant is warm a n d w e l l -f e d . T h e g r a s s hopper h a s no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

New Liberal “Woke” Version The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come w i nter, the sh iveri ng grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well-fed while he is cold and starving.

ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

ANTIFA stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the group calling the ant a Nazi.

AOC and the squad show up to do a staged photography session where they cry at the poor Grasshoppers plight and advocate that the government owes the Grasshopper reparations for the horrible conditions and oppression by

Republicans.

President Obama chimed in to condemn the ant and blames President Trump, President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Chuck Schumer exclaim in an interview with Rachel Maddow that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs. Having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, the ant’s home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in (which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house) crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug-related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood.

Pocahontas’ Presidential Run Should be Over!

hile driving on a beautiful day in West Virginia, I heard this news reported over my car radio. Democrat presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren said Michael Brown was “murdered” by a “white” policeman in Ferguson Mo. I became filled with anger.

I thought, “This wicked woman’s presidential run should be over.”

Everyone knows Brown was shot while assaulting a police officer in his patrol car while Brown tried to take the officer’s gun.

This insidiously evil lie by Warren tells voters everything they need to know about her. Obsessed with gaining power, Warren has decided that the lives of brave and honorable police officers and the lives of Americans potentially killed in a race war are acceptable collateral damage to achieve her goal – the White House.

My thoughts raced back to the heartbreaking Facebook post by 13-year-old Jaden Ramos. Jaden’s dad was a NYC police officer who was assassinated along with another officer while sitting in their cruiser on special patrol doing crime reduction work.

Jaden and numerous other children of police officers lost their fathers because Democrats and fake news media lied about the Brown shooting in Ferguson and other incidents.

Consequently, Black Lives Matter declared it “open season” on killing police and white people. Angry black youths responded with revenge assassinations of police across America.

Jaden posted: “Today I had to say bye to my father. He was there for me every day of my life, he was the best father I could ask for. It’s horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer. Everyone says they hate cops, but they are the people

that they call for help. I will always love you and I will never forget you.

RIP Dad.” For Warren to reignite the “Brown was murdered” lie five years later is beyond the pale. Warren deceptively markets herself as having superior compassion for victims. In reality, Warren is cold and calculating; willing to say anything in her perverse quest for power to control every aspect of our lives. Elizabeth Warren is a despicable human being.

If you watch, people always show you who they really are. Years ago, I attended a meeting in Washington DC. I met a politician who sounded great. After the meeting, away from cameras and microphones, he treated his assistant humiliatingly. My opinion of him suffered.

Just like her fake Indian heritage, Warren has shown us that her self-proclaimed superior compassion is fake also.

Warren’s irresponsible lie about the ci rcu msta nces of Brow n’s death so infuriated me because it sent a clarion call to blacks to kill more cops. I have had my fill of Democrats instigating hate, violence, and divisiveness while falsely

portraying themselves as paragons of superior compassion. Meanwhile, Democrats’ fake news media buddies demonize decent everyday Americans for opposing socialism and anti-Americanism.

Does character matter when selecting our leaders? Absolutely. “When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” Proverbs 29:2.

President George Washington said, “…a good moral character is the first essential in a man…It is therefore highly important that you should endeavor not only to be learned but virtuous.”

Presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris and their fellow Democrats instigating the murdering of police by continuing to lie about Michael Brown is the polar opposite of virtuous.

“The people “have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge-- I mean of the character and conduct of their rulers.” John Adams “The qualities of a great man are “vision, integrity, courage, understanding, the power of articulation,

and profundity of character.” Dwight Eisenhower “Character is the only secure foundation of the state.” Calvin Coolidge “Americanism is a question of principle, of purpose, of idealism, of character. Poor Neighborhoods, Lots of Money and Affirmative Action

he poor will always be with us. That is a Biblical fact and we must do all we can to help those in need. The problem seems to be, many are not willing to help themselves, even with “free money” handed out. There is no such thing as free money, somebody had the government take it from them to hand out to others. That is government assistance. It is a good thing for those who try to help themselves, but if any of that money goes for booze, cigarettes, scratch-off gambling, or illicit drugs, it should be cut off. Years ago, we were told welfare should not be obvious because it may shame a person. SO! Shame was one of the best incentives to get me off my backside and find better-paying work. SHAME works except for those without shame. Food Stamps tell those watching the person using them, if they are spending wisely on food and formula and not on Mad Dog 20-20 wine or cigarettes.

I’ll soon be 76 years old and watched my democrats constantly demand money for poor districts, but decades later I see little change. When that free money is targeted, a change is usually seen and sometimes it is drastic.

I come from the “Projects” where I learned to adapt to having zero money.

In the mid-1950’s we moved up to a finish-it-yourself little house. Two bedrooms, one bath, no central-air, no central-heat, no built-in appliances, minimal electrical outlets, a one tank septic system, wood siding, and no insulation. It was on blocks, so the plumbing froze in winter unless we crawled under the house and insulated the pipes. That was done every year due to neighbor dogs chewing it off. I had a dog for a while until Dad saw him

with insulation in his mouth. Next day Sparky ran off…so I was told. Dad worked overtime to get my sister and I bicycles one Christmas. That was a very special year.

I understand rolling long sleeves up to hide the fraying cuffs and wearing patched jeans to school. We finally got a 17” B&W portable TV about 1955 or 56. We still had it when I went off to the Navy in 62. I did not feel slighted because that was normal in our neighborhood. Lots of old used cars, used pickups, refrigerators, washers, dryers, but not many dryers as clotheslines were much cheaper. Mom said she preferred air-dried clothes because they smelled better. She didn’t want to make Dad feel he was not supporting us properly. He had a bad back, a really bad back, it was hurt in his late 20’s. Many nights he slept in the hallway on the hardwood floor to keep his back straight. It was possible to start school at five if your birthday was just a few weeks later…but it cost money. School started September 8th and I turned 6 October 4th. I was a year behind many of my buddies, but I adapted. It caused me to work hard to prove I did not fail a year. I got lots of A’s and B’s. Like I said earlier, shame can be a motivator.

I explain my formative years in an article about spending in poor neighborhoods, to show it is the person and parents who make a real difference.

Mom told us we had to be good and being poor was no reason to be mean or not clean. Dad never had a new car, but he could fix old ones to run like new. In about 1957 we took an old 1941 Chrysler to California, and other than a scary tire blow-out, it ran great. Dad, Mom, me and my sister Marie. I don’t mention Sis much because she was a pain. Fifteen months older than me

and skinny. She knew I could not hit back if she hit me because Dad forbid it. I once told him, “Look at her Dad, she is skinny as a post, and when she hits me it’s like getting hit with a stick.

Let me pop her just once, please.” Decades later we are friends but then, she was my no.1 enemy. Minorities do not have a monopoly on poverty, and White people do not owe minorities anything but an equal chance at success. I have a copy of the Constitution in my entry hall and read the Bible Genesis 1-1 to the last Amen in the Revelation. All of us are special to God, and no person alive was ever a slave or owned one.

Sign Posts Along the Road in 2019

emember Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone and how he’d tell us about the “Sign Posts” along the way?

Well, in our journey we see indicators that warn us of danger. Driving down the Highway we see signs “Slow Down”, “Curve Ahead”, “Prepare to Stop”, and the like. Well, here’s another thought “We’re lost but we’re making good time” on the highway of life.

Today cars talk to us and warn us “Accident five miles ahead”, “Stop and go traffic” etc.

Well, some other warning signs that were written long ago can be found in the Bible and this image describes the cycle of Democracy historically.

It is rather prophetic and confirmed by our own observations that we are about to have a fall from grace, that signals impending doom for America.

Consider for a moment cultural changes in social norms over the past hundred years. The moral relativism, hedonism, narcissistic behavior of each successive generation needs to be reflected on. It points to “I” in the “Me Generation” as more people choose to trust in man rather than God. This is not a sermon, but it is simply a wake-up call to those who have ears to hear and eyes to see. I’m not a profit of gloom and doom either, but rather an observer with a keen sense of the obvious.

Turn on the news any day and you hear stories that shock you until they don’t shock you any longer. Are the stories true or a series of lies or misinformation at the very least? I’m here to cite just a couple of signposts or warnings and even evidence of the coming doom. You can fill in the rest with your own observations.

recognize right away. They are sure indicators of a society gone very wrong. If we continue to ignore the warning signs we will stumble, fall, fail and perish.

“Well”, you say, “this is just a cycle and it too will pass, and everything will be ok”. And I say it is not ok and it is NOT going away!

I’m told “all error is self-correcting” so “why worry?” I’m not buying that.

Even if that were true, the correction phase would be very painful, and I care and fear for my grandchildren who will have to endure the failure if America is thrown onto the ash heap of history.

AOC and her Millennium crowd are young and foolish because they are ignorant and wanting of knowledge or education. But they still know everything, just ask them. In any case, they are foolish because they don’t believe

or are oblivious of the warning signs of History. Every time they open their mouths their brains fall out.

And then there is the IRS that is also evil, not because it is peopled by evil people necessarily but the thing itself is fundamentally evil. Why, because they use intimidation and fear and that tells us that the policies of the organization are evil in principle. Behind the scenes and under the cloak of darkness they demand. Under the color of law, they badger and beat people into submission. Most will tell you it is hopeless to fight them.

But Ella Wilcox (author and poet) warns us that “To sin by silence when one should protest makes cowards of men”.

These two examples signal a very bad ending ahead if we fail as a society to take arms against this sea of troubles and by opposing…. End them. If we

don’t, as surely as you are reading this America will fall.

AOC and company want America to fail, the IRS is “just doing their jobs” they will tell you. Does that sound familiar as Nazi German soldiers make excuses for their actions at Auschwitz, Birkenau and Krakow death camps?

Yep, they were just doing what they were told as they murdered millions in WWII. Give me a break world. Wake up and smell the stench of corruption of men and women who have abandoned reason and “common-sense” that Thomas Paine wrote about. He’s been dead for a long time and it would appear the rest of us aren’t far behind old Thomas.

Can we get out of this mess we’ve gotten ourselves into? I guess anything is possible if we change our fallen ways. John the Baptist would say “REPENT”.

It is said the first step in solving a problem is to tell someone about it.

So, I’m telling you “Houston, we have a problem”.

The answers are simple. As for AOC and company…Vote them out of office.

And as for the IRS, it too needs to be abolished because it is a weapon for evildoers. It is subject to overreach and at this point, that overreach is way over-the-top.

Lubbock County’s New “Conservatives” Proposed a Tax Increase in First at Bat

I

n August, Lubbock County commissioners proposed a new property tax rate significantly above the Effective Rate, meaning a tax increase.

Commissioner Jason Corley told me the proposed rate is a full penny above the no-new-taxes Effective Rate.

After all the promises to slow spending and hold the line on Lubbock County taxes from Curtis Parrish, the new county judge, and Precinct 2 [Corley] and 4 [Seay] commissioners, the Lubbock County Commissioners Court has proposed a tax increase.

Remember that Lubbock County is among those counties collecting sales tax and the amount collected has increased month after month for several years – they already have access to new money without raising property taxes from that and from new development in the county which doesn’t count toward the Effective Rate.

“Chad Seay, county commissioner

for Precinct 4, said he wants to see a rate lower than the current tax rate. He campaigned keeping the effective tax rate, but said he knows revenues from the current tax rate will go towards getting more Sheriff’s deputies…”

“I’m fighting for the Sheriff,” Seay said as reported by KCBD news.

I say to Commissioners Seay and Corley: You were elected because you were going to fight first for taxpayers, not first for county department spending – no matter how legitimate. If we need more patrol, then do as previous courts did in the past, sadly the way back there past, and cut other budgets to pay for it.

can or cannot be cut and how much money needs to be found in the budget to fund the sheriff’s wish list?

There was none. Instead, the commissioners and county judge proposed a tax increase in their first budget – after having run on strong, unequivocal platforms of reigning in the increases in spending at Lubbock County.

Hopefully by the time this column is published these “conservatives” will have put pencil to paper and reworked the budget in a manner that lives up to their promises. If not, they have joined County Judge Curtis Parrish* in beginning their careers as officeholders as liars of the worst sort.

Facebook Censorship!

Blocking Conservative Thought from the National Dialogue

acebook has no pretenses about banning conservative thought.

Its censorship of conservative voices is not disguised. It’s in your face. The company’s arrogance shows that it believes that no one can do anything about it. Or will.

I have just ended a seven-day stay in FB jail for an unspecified “offense.”

That means I was totally blocked from posting or commenting, even giving “likes,” on Facebook for a full week. As a regular conservative Facebook-user, but still scratching my head on what exactly offended the people running Facebook, I was happy to be back.

As it turned out, my joy was premature. To mark my return to FB, I attempted to post an article outlining the Obama-Brennan attempt to discredit and overthrow the Trump presidency. It was the lead article on the conservative Drudge challenger, Whatfinger.com. I don’t know that everything in the article was correct. But the writer made a solid

was granted by birth alone, why did it take an act of Congress in 1922 - 54

case. There was no profanity, no violence, no personal attacks in the piece, nothing that could be regarded by any reasonable person as hate speech. In fact, a lot of the story was repetition and summary of what has already been widely reported. Bottom line: It was a well-documented reveal on the Deep State and the illegal actions of the Obama-Brennan administration against Trump.

When I tried to post the story, a Facebook tag popped up that said, “Error.

Your message couldn’t be sent because it includes content that other people on Facebook have reported as abusive.”

What? What “other people”? Which Democrat, Squad-supporting progressive, Brennan ally, Deep State operative snowflake was it? What was “abusive” about what I was trying to post? In fact, what does “abusive” in this context mean other than that it is a conservative point of view on current events?

Nevertheless, that’s how FB explained that it were blocking my post.

If there is any consolation, I know not to take it personally. I am indeed in good company. Facebook has pulled

the plug on plenty of others. In fact, former Facebook employees have openly admitted to what is going on.

This Facebook censorship process is an updated and much slicker version of the classic “Denounce Your Neighbors” communist control device widely used in Cuba, North Korea, and China. It was a key feature of China’s Cultural Revolution in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Today, the Chinese Communist government itself uses a more modern point system to control the population, just as Facebook and other social media platforms are now doing their part to restrict free speech in the U.S. Facebook claims 2.41 billion active monthly users worldwide. Through the genius of Mark Zuckerberg’s algorithms and his nearly 40,000 employees, they are severely crippling open discussion and free speech in America.

A true conservative might argue that because Facebook is a private, although publicly listed, company, those who own it and run it have the right to determine who gets to use its products and how they are used. But this argument ignores the fact that

Facebook has become so entangled in the daily lives of so many Americans that it has become a de facto public utility. It should be seen for what it now is: a totally unregulated utility in the hands of anonymous, unelected technocrats in Silicon Valley who are imposing their leftist political views on users around the world.

Congress has had a look but done nothing. Facebook, along with other social media entities such as Google and Twitter that also are actively censoring and banning conservative viewpoints, has become a clear and present danger to free speech and thus the country as a whole. It’s not something we should ever see in the land of the First Amendment.

Since 1795, aliens have been required to renounce allegiance to any foreign power and declare allegiance to the U.S. Constitution to become a naturalized citizen. Such allegiance was never assumed for aliens who were born here or migrated here. We have a framed copy of my great-grandfather’s renunciation of his allegiance to the Czar of Russia as a family heirloom.

That renunciation was a prerequisite to his being granted full citizenship in the United States.

The way forward is simple. Section 5 of the 14th Amendment gives power to Congress to “enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.”

Some well-meaning Republican candidates are calling for an amendment to the Constitution to ban birthright citizenship. But in truth, the Constitution does NOT need to be amended.

It only needs to be applied.

Bottom line: Are children of illegal aliens American citizens? No. Why? Because the Constitution says they aren’t.

True Stories of a Vietnam Long Range Recon Patrol: Part II

Part two of a 12-part series sharing the very personal and boots on the ground account of one Green Beret’s time in Vietnam.

Threaten me with Court Martial for trying to save our lines. Like I cared at this point! At least I might be alive to stand before the court. What could they do? Fire me and send me back to the states? Please.

This was my first mission and I did not know what the hell I was doing.

I had no experience other than my 18-months of intensive training. But I have always been a logical thinker and an independent stubborn son of a gun once I set my mind on a course of action.

I have thought long and hard about this incident and I can truthfully say I would not have taken such drastic action except for the concern and fear of the Vietnamese. My One-Zero and One-One had one-year of Vietnam combat experience each. I respected that. However, the Vietnamese had a lifetime of exposure to war. A couple of them had at least 10 years or more of direct combat experience. My decision to follow them into the jungle to avoid the trackers was a “no brainer” as far as I was concerned.

If I had to die, I would die fighting but I would damn sure not die because

such basic Patrol Tactics were not followed.

For about 15-minutes I crawled slowly and quietly away from the ravine.

I was totally focused on my front. I feared crawling into an ambush that could have been set up as a blocking action by the NVA VIET CONG...

Or at least crawl into the camp of the trackers who I knew were somewhere in that direction.

I estimated I had crawled 25 or 30-yards away from the ravine when

I signaled by raising my arm as I stopped. We took a 5-minute rest.

You don’t understand ‘slow’ until you’ve crawled through a jungle like this. The area of Viet Nam, Cambodia, and Laos is a hotbed of humidity, mosquitoes, and highly venomous snakes. The jungles we were inserted into were a mass of twisted vines, plants, trees, moss, slime, and decay.

Crawling through 20-feet could take

what seemed like hours. We fought not only VC but the terrain, the insects and reptiles; not to mention living with possible death at each passing moment.

I was listening with every fiber of my being for any sound, but I could not see nor hear anything except breathing close behind me. I expected the One-Zero to come up and chew my butt out but no one moved.

I raised my arm and signaled to move out. It was too dark to see but I heard slight soft movement behind me. I remember thinking... How in the hell can I tell if all of us are here?

I changed course to about a 45-degree angle from the direction I had been crawling initially. I crawled a bit faster but still slowly for about 15 or 20 minutes... I was trying to match my crawl distance to a point below where I started to breathe too heavy or too loud to give away our position.

Understand that we were each carrying packs from 60 to 100 pounds on our backs. This crawl was not over level ground. It involved going over fallen trees, through limbs and vines, and going around areas too thick to crawl through. The travel was slow and difficult; something that I had not visualized in the cleared training areas back at the Special Forces training camp located at Fort Bragg, SEE TRUE STORIES OF A VIETNAM | PAGE 25

Old Salt: Ship of Fools?

hank God! I was never on a “Ship of Fools”. The USS Forrestal and the USS Saratoga were highly professional and disciplined U.S. Navy ships. If you research the terrible fires on the Forrestal or the many war-damaged WWII carriers you will discover how leadership, discipline, training, and fire control maintained the ability to complete missions. The U.S. Navy’s ability to keep fighting in the face of disastrous damage was a secret weapon as acknowledged by the Japanese, after their defeat. This is all encompassed in shipboard integrity as I have covered in a previous article. In this issue, I will attempt to contrast any entity of integrity with the current state of our nation.

Thinking about this subject I could have called it “Whose Ship is it Anyway”. One indelible memory is GQ. No! Not the men’s vanity magazine.

My memory is of shipboard “General Quarters”. There are scheduled and announced GQ drills, surprise GQ drills, and “this is not a drill” General Quarters. I used to wonder why have a scheduled and announced GQ drill? Now older and a little wiser I see it’s like the NFL. If you pay attention to NFL preseason or regular season practice you will see plays walked through. This is where each of the 11 team members gains an understanding of his exact roll in a very complex play. Likewise, if you are in sales and your boss requires you to roleplay, just do it. Roleplay is just like an NFL walkthrough or announced GQ. Such drills are how the human mind internalizes what needs to be done without overthinking. It’s also how a collection of individuals learns to work as a single unit to keep your ship afloat and accomplish the mission.

with upward of 5,000 crew and officers. Picture a walk-through General Quarters (GQ) of that magnitude or better yet imagine a real emergency GQ. Next time you see a television documentary of an aircraft carrier, try imagining the danger throughout. Try to imagine leaping through hatches and dodging dangerous aircraft and equipment. Not to mention you are on a ship where you could stumble into an angry sea. As George said in the Seinfeld TV series, “The sea was angry that day my friend”. Now sailors are disciplined and serious about their duties, yet they are also humorous and imaginative. I cannot think of General Quarters practice without the thought of some funny sailor shouting, “All hands forward go aft, all hands aft go forward, all hands amidship standby to direct traffic”. You can just imagine chances are you will be at furthest place on the ship from your GQ station when GQ happens.

How does real General Quarters work? “General Quarters, General Quarters, all hands man your battle stations!”

First, every officer and crew have a defined job and location in any GQ. Every man is well trained for his job and required to get to his station in mere seconds. Unlike my retelling of the humorous sailor’s method to get to GQ the set route of travel is up and forward on the starboard (right), down and aft on the port (left). On all Navy ships, this keeps traffic headed in the same direction and getting in place in, more or less, two minutes and in an orderly fashion. Such processes and procedures did not happen by accident and are not executed by clowns.

You may be thinking how is any of this relevant to the state of our nation?

Earlier I said I have never served on a ship of fools. That is unless you count how liberals and insincere Washington bureaucrats in league with an

America hating media are attempting to turn the creation of our founding fathers into a “Ship of Fools”. All is not yet lost as I believe the vast majority in the USA fully embrace the ideals of our founding documents. The target of the aforementioned power-hungry hacks is not patriotic Americans, it’s the confused undecided along with every government-dependent group our lousy political class can create.

All-encompassing Washington can be likened to an apple you pick up only to see mostly rot. It may not be rotten clear to the core, but you would not take a bite. For the most part, other than President Trump, you can easily count the number of Democrats and Republicans who loudly stand up the values of the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. Legion Act Signed; Expands Membership Eligibility

I

n a significant legislative victory for The American Legion, President Trump signed a bill July 30 that declares the United States has been in a state of war since Dec. 7, 1941.

The American Legion sought the declaration as a way to honor approximately 1,600 U.S. service members who were killed or wounded during previously undeclared periods of war.

The LEGION Act (Let Everyone Get Involved In Opportunities for National Service Act) also opens the door for approximately 6 million veterans to access American Legion programs and benefits for which they previously had not been eligible.

“Recognizing the service of these wartime veterans is the right thing do and it is long overdue,” National Commander Brett Reistad said. “The families of those who were killed or wounded during these wartime acts should take pride in knowing that we recognize their sacrifice and service.

Moreover, we are proud to welcome any of the six million living veterans from the previously unrecognized periods into our organization and call them ‘Legionnaires.’”

Again I held my arm up signaling to stop. I suppose no one could see my arm but that was the way I had been taught and my training was all I had to hopefully keep me alive.

Again I expected the One-Zero to come up to meet me in the front, but he did not. Hell, the One-Zero and the One-One may have stayed back at the ravine for all I knew. I pushed those thoughts out of my mind. I was committed and I would not go back unless the team was attacked from the rear.

I turned my attention to what direction I should travel next. At the ravine, I had traveled at a 90-degrees away from the ravine and away from the sound of movement. Then at the first rest, I had traveled at a 45-degrees away from the original 90-degrees. If I took another left 45-degree I would

www.CaprockPatriot.com be headed back toward the ravine. I sure as hell did not want that since the movement had been back there.

Therefore, the only course of travel open to me was at a 45-degrees to the right of my current direction. That would take me farther away from the ravine and maybe my team leaders if they hadn’t followed.

Our 6 man team’s mission was not to go out and engage the enemy but to remain undetected and gather as much intel as possible in an area of a couple of square miles. Observing trails, villages, military bunkers, roads, etc.

That was our mission. Those were our orders.

I started to move out when I detected movement directly ahead and slightly to my right about 4-feet above the ground. I could not make out any shape in the brush, but I knew that I had viewed movement. I pointed my CAR-15 assault weapon to where I had caught a glimpse of movement. As I

strained my eyes to see, I eased my free hand to my pack shoulder strap and gripped my hand around the hand grenade that I had taped with black electrical tape to my shoulder strap.

The pin had already been straightened and partially removed from the handle before the mission. This would ensure that I could quickly and efficiently ‘thumb out the pin’ and toss the grenade. In war, every second counts. Was this grenade setup dangerous? Hell, yes it was. But men had lost their lives in those wasted seconds while trying to pull out the pin with both hands.

The old TV movies of pulling the pin with your teeth was too distracting and slow. Like a quick draw gunfighter of the old west... speed, and to some extent accuracy, was what was important. Your life depends on getting a wall of bullet lead and explosions out in front of you when you are attacked.

I slowly ripped the hand grenade from the electrical tape and had my thumb in the pull ring when I subconsciously sensed movement to my right... very close. About two feet away. I turned to my right. I could see nothing at first then the impossible happened. I could see a darker line about 6-inches in width. It had the slightest bit of shine; so slight I could not be sure if I was seeing anything.

I followed the dark image to the left until I lost it in the brush. I then followed the dark line to the right.

I almost soiled my pants when my brain realized what I was seeing. Even before I fully realized what it was the old fight or flight kicked in. Without thinking I was on my feet and running to my left. I do not know how far I ran nor do I know when I became aware of the pounding feet of the Team behind me. I regained control of my panic and stopped running as I reached a small rock outcropping that offered a 20foot circle free of vegetation.

One by one, the team ran into the clear space and sank to the ground in a circle. I had recovered enough wit about me to count how many were present. We were all there ... Even the

All of us were out of breath from the exertions of running and from forcing our way through thick brush with our heavy packs. I closed my eyes to better listen for any evidence that my wild flight through the jungle may have alerted someone to the Team’s presence.

All I could hear was the heavy breathing of the team. And my own heavy breathing.

As I caught my breath, with my eyes closed, I could still see the dark outline of the 10-inch wide head of the snake that was 14-inches or so from my face. I had been so focused on trying to understand what that dark outline I was looking at was that when the snake flicked its tongue out - like a fox licking its lips as if it was looking at a chicken dinner - I lost it and ran.

I do not like snakes. This West Texas boy and snakes, of any type, do not mix. Oh, I have killed and eaten plenty of snakes, but I never had an unexpected encounter like this one.

I remember the words of my Drill Instructor, “Nam has a hundred species of snakes: 99 are poisonous and can kill you with a bite; the other one ain’t poisonous but will crush you to death!”

This encounter is the only time in my life, before or since, that I have lost total control of my conscious mind and body.

Here I sit, some 50-plus years later, and I can still visualize that HUGE snake crawling after me; flicking that tongue and searching for the meal that got away.

Any U.S. Navy ship or other similar U.S. Military unit represents a microcosm of our great country and here’s why.

1. U.S. Navy ships are commissioned by a higher power for a Godly purpose; the defense of one nation under God. Our Nation was ordained by God as inspired by our founders. Just read the founding documents.

2. Ships like nuclear aircraft carriers existed in God-given creative minds and then on paper before becoming reality by skilled Americans. Man was created in the mind of God before being made real. See Psalms 139:13.

U.S. Navy ships have a chain of command and that chain of command operates under prescribed rules such as Maritime Laws, Mission Orders, and UCMJ, etc. The United States is one nation under God and a nation of laws as expressed in the Declarations of Independence and our Constitution.

4. U.S. Navy ships are manned by a homogeneous group of officers and crew, being equal as humans but recognizing and signing on to an order and rank authority. In our nation, all U.S. Citizens are equal and free individuals bur subject to the rule of law. Ok, I think you get the point.

armed forces, and crimes and offenses not capital, of which persons subject to this chapter may be guilty, shall be taken cognizance of by a general, special, or summary court-martial”.

Rather than try to think up every stupid or wrong action of a military person, the brilliance of the creators of the UCMJ came up with that catchall Article. I sometimes wonder how much better off we would be if local, state, and federal law included a General Law. We wouldn’t have to put up with the stupid things some people do.

“Whose Ship is it Anyway”. This ship, the United States of America, belongs to “We the people” who love this country and its ideals. The “Ship of Fools” are all those who, to gain power, conspire to overturn the wishes of “We the people”. The “Ship of Fools” are all those who actually hate the ideals as stated in the Declaration of Independence and

the U.S. Constitution with the aim of plunging us into the slavery of socialism. Vote with me to keep all American haters and any self-serving Washington swamp dwellers on their leaky little “Ship of Fools” and sailing hysterically off into the sunset.

Texas License to Carry a Handgun

hile many states have enacted laws allowing the carrying of a firearm (usually a required open-carry stipulation), there are benefits to having a license to carry (LTC) permit.

First and foremost, the licensing factor allows state officials to do a rigorous background check on all applicants, thus separating those individuals who, for the reasons of legality, cannot carry a firearm from those individuals who are honest, law-abiding citizens.

Individuals who obtain the license to carry have passed that background

check and have a working knowledge of the state laws pertaining to the carrying of a firearm and have shown a basic proficiency in the handling of firearms.

An Armed Society is a Safe and Peaceful Society

he best way to stop an active shooter, terrorist or other mass murderer is with guns immediately present in the hands of law-abiding citizens, police, and military.

It is not possible to detect all shooters in advance nor is it possible to keep guns out of the hands of evil people. Terrorists, madmen, and criminals will always be able to access guns, bombs, vehicles, knives, flammable liquids, poisons, and other items with which they can quickly kill large numbers of people.

No additional laws are going to prevent such tragedies because evil people do not obey laws. Madmen and Evil will always be with us.

The American people should be

united in the battle against Evil, including the madmen who shot so many innocents in Dayton and El

Paso and so many police in Philadelphia. Instead, there are cries from Democrats to disarm the American

people, including police and military, giving the terrorists and madmen an increased advantage to kill more innocent people, to bring down the United States of America, and to destroy civilization as we know it.

We hear almost no demands to organize and to arm the brave American people because most of our politicians are not brave American people. If there were guns everywhere in the hands of the American people, violent crime would quickly decrease.

Evil acts of violence have been with us since the beginning of human history when Cain killed his brother Abel.

Islamic Terrorists are foremost on the minds of many, but evil people of any background can carry out acts of great Evil.

The Terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001, the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Oklahoma City bombing, and the 1927 school bombing in Bath Township, Michigan, have been the deadliest of the mass murders in the United States.

The United States has many more shootings by deranged people than Israel and Switzerland because the majority of the people in both Israel and Switzerland are very heavily armed, most with fully automatic weapons in their homes.

Israel and Switzerland have historically had compulsory military service. With guns and skilled marksmen everywhere, deranged shooters realize their mass murder tantrum would be stopped quickly and permanently.

Conversely, the United States has a generous welfare system and no requirement for military service. Socialist dependency creates high levels of frustration and anger that results in the desire to harm others. Our society is demented, morally and spiritually sick, and worships Santa Claus, Bernie Sanders, and anyone who will give free stuff.

The American people must firmly reject the baseless calls for more restrictions on honest gun merchants and gun-owning citizens. Legally sold and owned guns are not a significant source of criminal weapons.

In countries where citizens have been disarmed and prevented from defending themselves, violence has escalated with increased death and destruction coming from the ruling elite and criminals. Throughout history, those who were inadequately armed were subject to the whims and cruelties of those who were.

The Russians, Chinese, and Germans disarmed and killed more than 125-million of their own citizens during the 20th Century. Many other countries such as Turkey, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba, and North Korea have done the same.

When the rebellious American Colonists started rejecting King George’s tyranny, his Redcoats moved to quickly confiscate their guns. Remembering that it was the guns they personally owned and carried (more powerful and advanced guns than were carried by the British Redcoats) that secured their independence, our Founding Fathers penned the Second Amendment to ensure our safety against the tyranny of the Elite and the violence of our deranged fellow citizens.

To stop the mass murder madness, armed persons must be present in every possible location. An armed citizenry is the best deterrence to violence. Evil people intent on mass murder want as much time as possible to kill others before they are killed. The possibility of an unidentified armed person being present, who could take them out with a gun in the first few seconds of their murderous rampage, is not acceptable to a madman.

Democrats have an inherent loathing for persons who can protect themselves. The Democrat’s hatred of armed citizens is manifested in their persistent efforts to disarm lawful citizens, restrain our police, and defund our military.

One of the most effective Democrat arguments against honest citizens carrying guns is the fear that those carrying guns will engage in gunfights or start randomly shooting at others.

Such an unsubstantiated fear may arise because Democrats have their own problems with personal anger control.

This perverse Democrat logic was used in disarming lawful citizens after Hurricane Katrina. In reality, legally armed persons do not engage in gun battles to settle their conflicts. Not one mass killer has ever been a NRA member or legally licensed to carry a concealed gun.

In some public areas, it is necessary to keep weapons out of the hands of everyone other than highly vetted

Airports, certain government facilities, and airliners are places where it is not possible to quickly and efficiently screen the good guys with guns from the bad guys. Security keeps unauthorized weapons out of such locations, and armed personnel are there for protection.

Madmen can be anywhere. Madmen will always be with us. They commit atrocities, kill innocent people, and destroy happiness, prosperity, lives, nations, and even civilizations. We often cannot predict who they will be or when and where they will arise.

Firearms are necessary to stop madmen. Each of the two military men manning a missile silo during the Cold War wore a semi-automatic pistol as a safeguard should one of the two become mad or in the event additional parties might breach the security of the control room. “Assault weapons” were also present in the control room. Weapons are worn and “assault weapons” are available on ships and in submarines. Rangemasters at military shooting ranges are heavily armed to protect against a deranged shooter.

Most of the military people at Ft. Hood should have carried weapons.

If weapons had been carried, the Muslim Terrorist would have been stopped much sooner, or the presence of weapons on the military personnel would have fully deterred the Ft. Hood Muslim Terrorist shooter from committing his attack. Unfortunately, Bill Clinton banned guns from being carried by most military personnel on military bases.

Democrats move quickly to arouse public emotion and to use tragedies as an excuse for major inroads into our Second Amendment. There are calls for the banning of the sales and even manufacture of civilian versions of military and police rifles, also referred to as “assault weapons.” There are even calls for the banning of all semi-automatic weapons, all handguns, and larger capacity ammunition

clips, all of which are highly useful in defending against terrorists and other madmen.

The American people must never give up their g un rights to the Democrats for promises of safety. Giving any gun concessions to Democrats will only result in heightened dangers and the risk of death, as is represented in the Hollywood movie “The Hunt.”

The movie portrays Liberal Elites who kidnap MAGA pro-Life Americans and then shoot and kill them for sport.

We can expect that “The Hunt” video games and theme parks will soon follow. The best way to keep America safe is for as many Americans as possible to be educated, informed, and armed.

The underlying problem with mass murders and other crimes is not the guns used in the crimes. The problem is the evil person who uses the gun to commit the crime. The evil person must be subdued or killed before he can commit any murders or at least before he can shoot very many people.

The presence of armed people and hardened defensive perimeters are great deterrents for mass killers and all evil people.

Police, military, and other armed guards cannot be everywhere. There simply is not enough money to hire enough people. Where hired guns cannot be provided, we must depend on armed highly trained citizens. We are blessed with a national militia of tens of millions of heavily armed hunters and additional millions of Americans with military and police training. Many carry concealed weapons and have “assault weapons” and other defensive weapons available, and we need more people to do so.

Post Offices, schools, churches, movie theaters, and numerous other public and private places ban law-abiding citizens from carrying firearms but provide little or no security to prevent the deranged from bringing in weapons. Evil people SEE AN ARMED SOCIETY | PAGE 30

position, and each person should take full advantage of their license. Having a license to carry and not using it puts us all at a grave disadvantage. For example, after the recent mass shootings, reports indicate that, other than the shooter, no one in the entire crowd was reported to have been carrying a handgun. Many speculate that even if one individual had been carrying a handgun, the end result might have been much different. Had the shooter known, or even speculated, that others would have returned fire, he might have decided not to open fire.

Oftentimes, the person intending to do harm is thwarted by the fact that he might face his own imminent demise if someone is carrying a firearm, and AN ARMED SOCIETY CONTINUED FROM PAGE 29

intent on committing capital offenses are not deterred by laws and are emboldened with the knowledge their mayhem will likely go unchallenged for many minutes. The research of John Lott and William Landes has shown “that the only policy factor to influence multiple victim public shootings is the passage of concealed handgun laws.”

National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre suggested placing armed guards and police at our schools to protect the students. LaPierre made the additional excellent suggestion that many of these armed guards could be highly capable volunteers, including retired police and former military servicemen and women.

Others have suggested that interested teachers, administrators, and school staff who have concealed weapons permits and extra training be allowed to have weapons available to them in schools. The weapons could be concealed, or in the case of larger defensive weapons such as the AR-15, stored in quickly accessible

this will many times alter his entire decision to carry out his plan.

Having the license to carry a handgun is a responsibility that, as law-abiding citizens, we all should embrace. As citizens of the United States, it is our solemn duty to protect and uphold our sovereignty, our laws, and yes, our uniquely chosen way of life.

The cost of obtaining a license to carry a firearm is much less expensive than in previous years. The (Texas) state application fee is only $42.95 plus a $10.00 electronic fingerprint fee. While Texas LTC class fees vary with each certified instructor, the fee at Sharp Shooters is one of the lowest in Lubbock at $85 cash and a $10 discount is provided for first responders, educators, and medical

An armed presence at Sandy Hook may have saved several lives, as it took 20 minutes for the police to arrive after the first 911 calls. During these 20 minutes, the shooter killed 26.

If posting armed guards at schools makes so much sense, armed guards and armed civilians should also be present at churches, shopping malls, movie theaters and all the other public places where deranged shooters go to kill people.

Liberals have given madmen “gunfree zones” where they can kill without the fear of being shot until the police arrive. Unless an armed person is in the immediate vicinity, the madman has at least 3 to 5 minutes to carry out his barbaric plans.

An armed citizenry is the best deterrence to violence. Public places where law-abiding citizens are not permitted to bear arms should be rare and few.

Barack Obama once said that when Americans are faced with hard times, they cling to their religion and to their guns. Even though Obama stated this in order to ridicule the American people, his words hold true. We Americans must ensure that our military

is well-armed with technologically advanced weapons. We must ensure that we are personally well armed with the weapons we need to protect our families, our nation, and ourselves. We must ensure that God and His Ten Commandments are returned to our schools, our government, our communities, our homes and places of work, and our lives.

Even if there were no guns, madmen would still attack and kill. On the same day the Sandy Hook murders took place, a man in China stabbed 22 school children with a knife.

It is time to restore God to our government, our schools, the public square, our communities, and our homes. It is time for all of us to get down on our knees and to pray for deliverance from the Evil that has progressively descended upon our land over the past century. It is time the American people arm themselves for protection and to drive back the Evil the Democrats have willfully encouraged and enabled to rise up in our nation.

In the absence of police and adequate numbers of armed security guards, the public must be armed and trained to

defend themselves and others present.

Semi-automatic weapons capable of firing multiple shots at a very rapid rate of fire can provide for an extra measure of probable defensive success in the presence of body armor on the terrorist and in the event of multiple terrorists. High capacity semi-automatic weapons can provide additional defensive capabilities in the presence of multiple attackers.

Now is the time to increase the firearm defensive capabilities of our fellow Americans. We must not succumb to the Democrats who seek to transform shooting massacres into an excuse to lower the defensive capabilities of the American people and to allow Democrats to intentionally extend greater protection to terrorists, criminals, and other madmen. Our Second Amendment protects us against the elected and appointed employees of our government who increasingly seek to further disarm and weaken the American people.

What is the Greatest “Threat” to America Today?

HAT WOULD YOUR ANSWER BE? Would it be Ch i na, Russia, Nor th Korea, Iran, Iraq? Would it be a total collapse of our money? Would it be the biggest famine known to the world? Would it be a Nuclear attack or an EMP attack? Would it be Terrorist attacks from within America? Would it be the Liberal Democrats? Would it be George Soros, the Shadow Government or the Bilderberg-Rothchild group?

I believe the greatest threat to America today is God. Yes, I believe it is a Holy, Righteous and Just God. Look at history in the Bible. Look at what God did to Sodom and Gomorrah because of her sin of sodomy (homosexuality). After Lot and his family left, God destroyed the city and all in it with a great hail of fire and brimstone from the sky.

Look at what God did to the Hebrews when they began to lust and whore after other gods. He put them into bondage as slaves to Pharaoh for 400 years.

When Aaron made a Golden Calf for the Israelites to worship instead of God, that day 3,000 died because of their sin.

NOW LOOK AT AMERICA and the sin and immorality we’ve committed

before God. We’ve legalized abortion and murdered over 70 million innocent children. We’ve made sodomy and homosexual marriages legal in our land, something God calls an abomination to Him. We allowed God-haters to remove God from almost every place in America, schools, courtrooms, public areas, workplaces, and in some Churches.

How long will His patience endure with us? How long before He reigns judgment upon us? Will He kill many of us through war, or plagues, or famine, or complete destruction of

our electric grid, or through hurricanes, floods, tornadoes or earthquakes? Will He allow a heathen and atheist nation such as Russia, China or a Muslim nation to conquer us and subjugate us into slavery, forcing us to either renounce Jesus Christ or convert to a false religion that will ultimately damn us to hell?

Will we have the “strength” to refuse to renounce Christ and be tortured to death, stoned to death or beheaded? This is happening in China, North Korea, Africa, and Muslim countries to “Christians” right now.

We here in America are not exempt.

For what we have done against a Holy God right here in America today, we deserve His judgment.

The Jewish people say they have a command from God, “Not to be silent.” But we Christians have become all too silent. We should be crying out to God for His mercy and crying out to our Pastors to lead us, to be an example to us, to bombard the gates of Hell and our government leaders to put an end to immorality

in our nation. To do away with the laws making sodomy, homosexual marriages, and murder of children legal.

THE BIBLE SAYS THAT A One World Government and a One World Religious system will happen, but I believe God gave us Trump as a reprieve to see what we will do with the time He has given to us. Hillary Clinton was supposed to have been the next President and she would have been the one to sign America’s sovereignty over to the U.N. We would no longer be a country but a state to the U.N. Our Constitution would be void and we would be governed by the U.N. Guns would be confiscated and we would have no self-defense.

A One World Religious Leader would be appointed that would select “one” religion for the world.

Since so many today believe Christianity is causing all the problems in the world, it will probably be Islam.

Today in China, North Korea, and all Muslim countries, you are subject to beatings, torture, imprisonment or death if you worship the Judeo/ Christian God. Just look at the Democrat choices for President. Most are open socialists and communists, for abortion, for gay marriages, for open borders, for socialism, for Global Governance and… against God and Christians.

Remember Biblical history; when God sent a Prophet to warn a city that God was about to judge them, if they repented and turned back to Him with all their hearts, God stopped his judgment.

e are on an American journey which began on July 4, 1776. What is not widely known is that America’s day of dedication was April 30, 1789. Our first president, George Washington, took his presidential oath in New York City on Wall Street. New York City was America’s first capital. In his first-ever presidential address, Washington gave a prophetic warning to our nation: “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself hath ordained.” This quote and information comes from a “must-read” book called The Harbinger, authored by Jonathan Cahn. America’s consecration ground is Ground Zero, which happened on September 11, 2001.

A “red warning light” lit up on America’s dashboard on what Congress has declared “Patriot Day”, September 11, 2001. In America’s Declaration of Independence, the writers of this document named God as a Supreme Judge and believed it was divine providence that allowed the founding of this great nation called America.

What is the normal response to a red warning light on the dashboard of our cars? I get irritated when the tire pressure light appears in my car. I usually delay any response. But what if the attack on the “Twin Towers” was God’s judgment on a nation that mocks and defies the laws of marriage and laws guarding life in the womb established by God? America, 18-years later, shows little sign of repentance.

Spiritual repentance precedes revival.

Warning lights that are heeded lead to hope. The Lubbock October 10th Revival event is a harbinger of hope.

God may be merciful and stir His people to fall on their faces in prayer. We can find hope in the promise of God found in an Old Testament

passage of Scripture. In a book of the Bible called second Chronicles, chapter 7, verse 14, we can read: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land”. My people are those who choose to obey the Biblical instructions of God. My people are those who choose to live as spiritual

salt and light in the presence of spiritual distastefulness and darkness. My people are those who will stand up to and confess their own sinful lifestyle choices (don’t make the preacher in me start ‘meddling’ and start ‘naming’ some obvious ‘pet’ choices that offend God).

Patriot Day, in 2019, finds that God is slow to anger, but He will unleash more consequential judgment on America if we ignore the spiritual

s leaders, or as men of influence on any level in society, we should accept an obligation of responsibility and accountability. It is proper to allow anyone the privilege of questioning our words or our actions.

Honesty and openness are traits of integrity. These traits enable us to work together in unity with each other.

What happens when brothers walk divided? It is not difficult to predict the negative results in families or any type of organization. The undesirable results can range in description from devastating to long-lasting. Beware of the instigators; jealousy, hatred, pride and even insecurity.

throughout our most recent history.

Cain and Able were the first, one brother killed the other. Unjustifiable motive! Turn a few pages and you find twelve brothers who were divided. One was overconfident.

The other eleven began a conspiracy among themselves to either kill or to sell Joseph as a slave. I wonder which of the eleven brothers the original instigator was. This didn’t just happen all at once.

Between these two stories the disputes of two other brothers, Esau and Jacob, are listed. On and on it goes. We see it again in the story of the prodigal son.

Pay attention to the ones who speak and entice division. The NIV Translation records Titus 3:10-11 as reading: “Warn a divisive person once, and

then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.”

Brothers divided! Our nation is divided in a way as we have never seen before. It doesn’t have to be this way.

What can someone like you or I do about it? Well, there is plenty.

Surely you can find three things to do that will make a difference. If you don’t have enough confidence in yourself you can have confidence in the God who lives inside of you. You can do something. You can start by doing what is right. You can become responsible and then learn how to hold others accountable. Secondly, study the issues that are confronting our nation. Study enough so that you can hold an intelligent conversation about the concerns you have and then help someone else understand. Though you may never conquer every issue, you can do one other thing. You can conquer your fears of standing up and standing out when you stand for what you really believe. Become a leader and accept your obligation of responsibility. Then go vote. Vote right. Vote Biblical values.

It is time we unite our nation once again, but it will never happen unless we unite with those who stand up for the values we embrace. If we fail to do so, we may never sing God bless America again and be like the Israelites who hung their harps on the tree branches when they went into captivity and refused to sing.

A Deeper Consolation

A

s the country still reels from a series of mass shootings from El Paso, TX, to Dayton, OH, the frequency of these events may have created an ancillary effect. Where Americans once put our hands over our mouth in horror, an increasing number merely pause to offer a brief tribute of sentiment as consolation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” echoes often enough to warrant a predictive template on social media platforms to expedite the now traditional response. One can’t help but wonder the efficacy of the phrase to those forever burdened by such anguish.

“What thoughts?” “What prayers?” “To whom are you praying?”

“What reply do you expect?” “How do grieving souls process others’ conversations with an all-powerful deity?”

The list of questions erupting from wounded souls must extend beyond the horizon.

In her core, America feels deeply and cherishes her citizens’ safety. Our society’s fracture, however, wrenches so many away from that core. As a result, we’re left disengaged—particularly if we disagree politically or religiously.

In Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan, the hero didn’t offer thoughts and prayers, but rather action and care. He first noticed and then approached the assaulted man. Only then could the wounds be bound, and the injured man carried to safety. Once there, the Samaritan then ensured sustainable care.

With social media and instant news, glibness and optics receive more shelf space than the heart. But care requires something of the caregiver. Instead of the now trite, “…Thoughts and Prayers,” let us indeed think and pray, but also speak and act with frankness and

specificity. When words fail us, it is understandable to land on a phrase that feels safe and appropriate to say, but to be effective at ministering to the wounds, we must go deeper.

Our thoughts and prayers are between ourselves and God. Our words and actions speak to others.

May we address those forever altered in their pain with such directness as President George W. Bush stated through a megaphone on a pile of rubble so many years ago.

“I can hear you! I can hear you! The rest of the world hears you! And the people -- and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!”

A President standing in carnage met the rawness of 9/11 with forthrightness and leadership.

Carnage in its’ all too many forms provides us with the opportunity to look at it for what it is—and speak hope and life to those around us. The only strengthening words are those communicating that the victim is seen, cared for specifically, and a plan is communicated to ensure sustainable care. Sentiment costs little and rarely comforts. Although costly, leadership always comforts.

The protection of our citizens remains paramount. Part of that protection is equipping others to care for and protect themselves. Another part is seeing to those unable to do so. Let us offer more than thoughts and prayers. Let us offer leadership towards a safer, stronger, and more caring country seeking to assure one another that those who suffer will not do so in isolation.

The most effective leaders are often those responding to that great need of assurance in the face of overwhelming loss. In those moments, our vocabulary changes from stock phrases to specificity.

Leadership in suffering can be as

simple as saying, “I see you, and I see the magnitude of your pain and sorrow—and I will work to make sure you don’t endure this alone.” Those words emanate from the heart. Displaying outrage is a collective pastime. Displaying our hearts requires a greater courage.

From shootings to mental illness to immigration to race, may we be a nation that binds the wounds, regardless of our differences. May we be a people who notice the suffering of those around us. While thinking and praying, may we also care for and sustain one other.

“Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.”

The Two Witnesses Who Helped Change My Life

After Job lost everything; his home, his children, and all his wealth he was struck with painful boils from the sole of his feet to the crown of his head.

While sitting in the midst of the ashes of his life he took a broken piece of pottery to scrape off the scabs his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!” which is what the world was screaming at the two followers of Christ with their family disrupted, their finances destroyed, and their child dead. These born-again believers said with their actions to the world what Job replied to his wife, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?”

Years later as I reflected upon whether or not it was possible to live for God in a fallen world the memory of those two saints, Judy and Harry, praising God for blessings in the middle of what the fallen world saw as a curse I knew it was possible. Now after forty years of walking with my hand in the hand of the Man who stilled the sea I know it from personal experience.

Choose God and accept His gift of salvation not for what we’ve done but because of what Jesus did. He paid the price for our lifetime membership in the family of God, but we still may have to pay some dues down here. If we trust in Him when the wind and the waves smash against us, we’ll stand like a house built on a rock. If

f it’s my way or the highway I choose the High Way; God’s way.

You see I tried my way and it led to depression, despair, and loneliness.

The best I could figure out is if this is all there is let’s roll out the barrels and have a party. My life before Christ was like the meaningless forever party at The Restaurant at The End of The Universe in Douglas Adam’s iconic Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. The band plays on, the people careen through life in a mad dash to nowhere, everyone is laughing, smiling, miserable, and heading toward oblivion.

In the doomed life without Christ people mistake happiness and laughter for joy, and waste their lives trying to tickle themselves to death.

So, after thirty wasted years sacrificed on an altar of senseless, self-indulgent, self-destructive tickling, I chose the High Way. I chose to make Jesus the Lord of my life because I believe in my heart God has raised Him from the dead. I came to believe Jesus offered Himself up as a sinless sacrifice to pay the price of not just my sin but of everyone’s sin. I came to understand that the wall of separation caused by sin between humanity and God was broken down and we can all be united with Him. I embraced the truth that we can become His children. We no

longer are strangers but members of His family welcome to walk boldly into our Daddy’s throne room.

Have you ever felt as if there’s no hope? Don’t be fooled by the god of this world. There is hope. Have you ever felt like you were too far gone, too wrong to ever be right again? Don’t be fooled by the confusing systems of laws that litter this world, or by gnawing feelings of guilt. We can be right with God. Christ told us to take His light to the world and in our finite wisdom, we constantly attempt to build lamps.

They may provide light but it’s not His light. The bewildering mazes of religious laws are paths built by men. The feelings of guilt that inform us we have a consciousness of sin are themselves pinpricks and poundings delivered by God to prod us into the way, His way, the High Way. They don’t mean we’re lost forever. It’s just the opposite. They mean God hasn’t given up on us yet.

And if God hasn’t given up on us why should we give up on God? Happiness can be affected by what we had for dinner last night. Did it taste good? Did it sit well, or did it give us indigestion? Happiness can be impacted by whether or not we’re rich or poor, sick or healthy or any combination of things that are here today and gone tomorrow. Laughter can be a mask to hide the tears.

But joy is something else again. Joy

is rooted in our relationship with God, and since the world didn’t give it to us the world can’t take it away. That’s why it’s called the joy that passes all understanding.

This God-given joy is a powerful lifechanging thing.

Seeing this joy in action when I was an unbeliever is one of the things that eventually convinced me the Bible was true, salvation was real, and I could have it if I wanted it.

When I was at the depth of my unbelief, calling myself an atheist and a hater of all things godly I witnessed people live through the birth of a very special child. One whose physical challenges led to a short life among us but a life having a major impact on at least one life I know of: my life.

His parents loved that child. They praised God for that child. They gave all they had to care for that child. And when that child passed leaving them physically, emotionally, and financially drained they held a celebration to praise God for blessing them in such a great way.

I can remember thinking they were crazy. I shook my head and wondered how anyone could be so different from everyone else I’d ever known. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was a witness to people living out the reality of a passage from the book of Job who was the greatest of all the people of the East.

Dealing with Difficult People

I

n the book, The Good and Beautif ul Life, James Bryan Sm ith teaches us how to bless those who curse you. When dealing with difficult people, there are basically two different ways: we have the world way and we have Jesus’s way.

You see, when it comes to dealing with difficult people, there is a common way the world works-- Jesus is helping His followers imagine what it would look like differently. In a world where violence and retaliation are the norm, Jesus is saying that although “an eye for eye” was a great step forward in reducing escalating violence, it doesn’t go far enough in a kingdom that is going to be defined by justice, love, mercy, and forgiveness. Jesus calls us to something deeper. He calls us to actually love our enemies. So, what are our options when somebody does something bad to us?

One option is that we could be a doormat. We could be a totally passive victim, letting the other person hurt us, insult us and run all over us. Another option is very common seen today is redemptive violence.

Redemptive violence is the idea that if someone does something wrong, violence is a redemptive action to take.

To save the situation, violence must be done; that is the only thing that makes things right.

Many people mistakenly believe Jesus is calling us to the first option.

You know, if someone hits you, just let them hit you again and let people take advantage of you. If that is what we think Jesus means, we can dismiss His teaching of being realistic in the world in which we now live. Jesus is not telling us to be doormats or passive in the face of violence or injustice; that is not what He means here. Nor, is He calling us to respond with redemptive action or violence.

Those are not the only two options!

Jesus invites His followers to what could be called a third way, the way many people are now calling creative non-violent resistance. Jesus calls us to be something deeper than just passive doormats and deeper than

retaliation. He gives His listeners three radical teachings, three radical examples, to help them imagine what this third way looks like. It is a way to both resist evil and refuse to overcome evil with more evil. Jesus says, don’t be a doormat, don’t let people just roll all over you, and don’t return violence for violence – don’t overcome evil, with more evil. In Matthew chapter 5:3942, Jesus says “But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.”

And so, Jesus gives three examples: #1. If anybody slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other also. He

is talking about an insult. If someone treats you like you are an inferior and they backhand you, they slap you on your right cheek with their right hand. By turning to them the other cheek, this put them in a position where they can either punch you or slap your cheek with an open palm.

Striking you with a punch could land them in jail, but at the same time, it would mean they are treating you as an equal. The second option is to hit or place their hand on your cheek with an open palm. In their day, this was a sign of endearment, friendship, intimacy, and love. Jesus is not asking us to be cowed down to an opponent when they strike you. Instead, you are looking back towards them and looking at them in the eye, as if you are saying I am a person with dignity, and I demand to be treated with your respect. By turning your cheek, you are turning the cycle; you are demanding to be created as an equal and you are offering friendship. This forces the other person to make a choice. And that kind of move can self-destruct violence from within. It is not passive nor is it responding evil with evil; it is creative non-violence resistance. take your cloak, give them your tunic, your shirt as well. Most of the people in Jesus’ society were poor and only owned the clothes on their back. If a poor person needed to borrow money from a wealthier person and had no collateral to back up the loan, sometimes they would offer their outer clothes as collateral. They would take off their outer cloak and give it to the person they were going to get the loan from. If it was not paid back, they could go to court and be sued.

Jesus says if someone tries to take you to court and tries to take your cloak from you, give them your shirt also.

The implication is that if they literally want to take the clothes off your back, then give them your clothes, and this would put your opponent in a tough spot in a few different ways.

First, if they demand your cloak as restitution and you give them your shirt as well, –you are forcing them to acknowledge that they are greedy.

Second. If you give them your shirt and your cloak as well, you would not be wearing anything at all. In their culture, the shame direction went both ways. In fact, it was assumed that if you saw someone naked the shame was on you for looking at their nakedness. Everyone in the courtroom who saw would be put to shame. It is as if Jesus is saying, that you live in a system that is so oppressive that they would actually take the clothes right off people’s backs and they did live in a system like that-- and that a system like that should rightfully be ashamed of itself. You go the next step and you resist in a nonviolent but creative way that has the possibility of destructing the unjust system from within. #3. If someone forces you to go

one mile, go with them two. People in Palestine were ruled over by the Roman Empire and they had to deal with Roman soldiers. A Roman soldier could force any of the subjects to carry their equipment bag, however; it was against the law for them to make someone carry it more than one mile.

If a soldier made them carry it further than that, they could be reprimanded, stripped from their rank or even thrown in prison. So, when Jesus tells these poor Jewish peasants under Roman rule to go a second mile, He is not telling them to be doormats, He is empowering them to resist and even potentially undo the system of oppression by telling them to go a second mile. If you can carry the pack a second mile, you’re making the soldier break the law--you are putting him in a very awkward position. You would also be offering to spend more time with the Roman with his pack.

If that’s not enough to stop supporting them, understand that allowing your family to watch many of the shows they offer is tantamount to approving the slow liberal, anti-Christian indoctrination of your family. You won’t see it while it’s happening. The ideas that are being indoctrinated are subtle. They will creep in slowly. They will grow roots.

And, they will eventually become a permanent part of someone in your family’s way of thinking - or your entire family. Why let the evil in?

Here again, Jesus gives them a creative third way of taking away the power of evil without violence. They were not over-throwing Roman Government, but neither were they just rolling over or being taken advantage of; instead, they made it more difficult for their enemies to abuse them while simultaneously offering friendship.

When we break the cycle of violence and retaliation, we open up the way for redemption, friendship, love, and peace. Jesus doesn’t call us just to resist evil with good, He calls us to something deeper, He calls us to actually Love Our Enemies. The Unimagined Value of Pain

A

s I sat in the middle of the first row in my first-grade class, Sister Marian Angela passed out our books. These were not comic or coloring books but “real” books, the first of my life and with it the acknowledgment that I was no longer a little kindergartener but a big kid in a school filled with even bigger kids.

I could hardly contain my excitement as she handed one to me, my first sword in my battle to acquire knowledge and “grow.”

I immediately opened it, flipped through the pages all the way to the back of the book and felt sick.

I could not read it, nor did I think I would EVER be able to get through it. Somehow, despite many tears, frustrations, and proclamations to the contrary, I was able to learn what was taught and accomplished the phenomenal feat of being promoted...not everyone was.

After a summer of play ended all too soon, I was once again seated in a row when Sister Mary Martin presented my reward for making it into the second grade...ANOTHER book I could not read or understand.

That basic ritual continued through the next ten years of grade school, four more at Rutgers University and seven including post-doctoral study

at Florida State University.

W hile attending FSU, I joined a gym and the very first day, the “trainer” had me work out at all the various stations and recorded my feeble efforts at lifting steel. Once this baseline was established, he then set goals that I was to reach.

Week after week, I begrudgingly left the comfort of my apartment to drive across town and use every mental trick I could think of to get the darn weights to move. The prescribed goals seemed unobtainable and the effort exhausting. I thought many times that if someone PAID me to do this, I would tell them they were crazy to think I would but somehow because I was the one paying, it must be a good thing...a bit Tom Sawyer-esque, sort of like golf. “Excuse me sir, can I pay you $50 to walk around in a field carrying 25-pounds of sticks on your back that you can use to whack a little ball around for four hours in 90-degree heat?” “Yeah, right! What do I look like, a jackass?!” Ah, but because the jackass PAYS to do this, he actually has to make an appointment, otherwise known as a “tee time,” to be able to do it as I have done many, many times.

Relationally it is no different. We grow best not when things are easy

but when they are most difficult.

Marriages either grow stronger when faced with great pressure as each person puts the other’s needs first or they break apart when one or the other thinks first of themselves. The greater the crisis, the greater the chance that any relationship will become more permanent or shatter.

We learn very little about ourselves and others during good times but volumes during the most difficult ones. People talk about the love they have for one another all the time, but it is only through pain and suffering that true love is revealed.

If we grow mentally by reaching one level only to be given a higher one, while we grow physically by being given additional weights to bear, and grow relationally by responding to greater challenges, why would we think it would be any different with our spiritual growth?

How many times have you heard it said that “God will not give you more than you can bear?” While that may sound like comforting words to the person giving such “reassurance” to the person who is suffering, it does nothing to ameliorate the truly unbearable condition of the other person. How comforting do you suppose those words would have been to Jesus when He asked, “My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me?”

(Mathew 27:46) There are often things in life that we can’t possibly “bear.” At some point the math gets too difficult, the weight is beyond our human capacity to lift, the marriage is not strong enough to survive. Life becomes far more difficult than we ever imagined. Peter Kreeft, a professor of philosophy at Boston College, wrote that this world is a terrible home, but it is a great “spiritual gymnasium.”

When all is said and done, with all the efforts we have made to grow and get better throughout our lives, there is only one thing that matters... have we learned to LOVE. Intense pain and suffering are truly unbearable and to say otherwise is to be unaccepting of reality. But it is precisely at those moments that love reveals itself because while “we” cannot bear it, love “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” (1 Cor 13:7).

As we leave this life, having been “tested like gold” the only thing we should have left is love...because it is the only thing that is needed for us to be “promoted.”

Just like in first grade, not everyone is...

Unknown Soldiers O

ver the years I have been influenced in my spiritual life by many “unknown soldiers.” Folks who are never going to be mentioned on the evening news or be on the cover of a magazine.

One of my “nameless warriors” was Mrs. Biddell, who taught my Sunday School class when I was 7 years old.

My grandmother told me that Mrs. Biddell was only around 50 years old but somehow, she looked much older. It may have been because her husband had just died leaving her with a mountain of bills to pay. It might have been due to the strain of cleaning homes day and night just to make ends meet. She lived next door to my grandparents, so I saw her

almost every day. In spite of her trying circumstances, she always had a smile on her face and encouraging words to say to me. She was kind yet she was fair. In fact, she was the lady who two years later would stand me in the corner for changing the words to our Vacation Bible School theme song. The original lyrics in part of the song went, “A time for joy, a time for cheer.” However, I changed the words to, “We’re playing cards and drinking beer.” She was definitely not impressed with my first attempt at songwriting.

In class she taught me hymns like, “Amazing Grace” and “Jesus Loves Me,” songs I still sing to this day.

What touched me the most was that she still found joy in times of great sadness. She was living proof of how

God gives beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise for your burdens and laughter for pain. I will always be grateful for her wonderful example of having hope when all seemed hopeless.

Another one of my “unsung heroes” was a man named Mr. Bruton. He taught the 9-year-old boys class First Baptist Church in Hubbard, TX. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to teach 9-year-old boys. Nine-year-old boys are proud of the fact they smell awful, giggle like little girls whenever someone makes a funny sound and can’t sit still for more than 30 seconds at a time. Mr. Bruton owned a gas station and worked 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. In those days everything was closed on Sundays. He pumped gas and had changed so many oil filters that his hands were always stained with grease. He was the man who led me to Christ. He was such a faithful Christian man, husband, and father.

What I admired about him the most was how hard he worked each week but still made time to teach us little kids about Jesus.

As you are reading this, I pray that the Lord is bringing to mind your “unknown soldiers.” Those who taught you about God’s love and encouraged you when you were down. Those who loved you unconditionally even when you weren’t very lovable. Those who gave you a shoulder to cry on when you were sad and confused. I mentioned this in an earlier article but something incredible happened about

12 hours after my surgery in July of 2012. I had held out as long as I could but around 3:00 am I rang my nurse and told her that I really needed some pain medication. She could see that I was hurting pretty bad but said it was going to take a few minutes to get my medication to me. In the meantime, she suggested that I sing one of my songs for her. I knew she was just trying to distract me, but I still sang for her the chorus of my song, “Unknown Soldiers.” When I finished, I noticed that she was facing away from me and standing totally still. When she turned around, tears were streaming down her face as she said, “Mr. Murphy, that song was just for me because it made me think about all those who have prayed for me and shown me the love of Christ. Thank you.” I replied, “That is so sweet.... but PLEASE GIVE ME MY MEDICINE!!!”

I thank God for all of the “unknown soldiers” in my life. Even though the world may not know their names, our God in heaven knows and He has a great reward for all who take time to bless and encourage others to trust in and follow Jesus Christ.

soliciting volunteers to seek “asylum” in the US, and literally promising economic “paradise” to those who make the trip and apply.

The Democrats, greedy RINO’s, and other communists and their sympathizers, know that they can’t build a rational case with the US electorate for instituting their savage collectivist political philosophy, especially when it is compared to our US Founding concept of individual liberty. So, they must recruit followers from those who don’t know any better. The Democrats and other communists see the new immigrants as uninformed and easily manipulated potential voters while the greedy RINO’s see them as exploitable, cheap labor, and fodder for human trafficking! The majority of “asylum” seekers are coming from cruel dictatorships and are unexposed and unfamiliar with the principles set forth in our Bill of Rights. The main handicap of these new arrivals is simply ignorance of our system, whose mindset can be treated and overcome by most of them in time, but sufficient time is required for education and assimilation which the disrupters don’t want to allow.

Some “refugees” naively believe promises from crooked politicians and evil purveyors of the flesh trade, while others are “Jihadis,” coming

here with dedicated purposes of destruction and taking over Western Civilization. Our current immigration “Standard Operating Procedures” are not sustainable and must be fixed!

The desire and necessity of controlling our border has nothing to do with race or ethnic background, but everything to do with us knowing and deciding just who will be allowed into our country and understanding what their intentions are. No sovereign nation should be required to take in those whose only goal is to destroy it, and immigrants or aliens who have not gone through the legal citizenship process, should not be allowed to vote! Yet this is the order of the day from the globalists and their political, academic, Social Justice Warrior religion, and media minions.

Over 60 Million people of Hispanic lineage make up almost 20 percent of the total US population.

Actually, Hispanics explored and occupied many parts of America and the Americas long before the English speakers arrived! Overall, these folks tend to be family-oriented, industrious, and demonstrate more conservative values than many other identifiable groups of American citizens. And (speaking from experience!) they are as concerned about the safety and security of themselves and their families, as

Here we have the largest minority demographic in the US, and a natural ally of conservative and Constitutional believers, which has been mostly overlooked by many of us hoping to repair the damage done to our Republic by the Liberals and Lefties. Trust me on this one, the Libtards and Left have vastly underestimated the makeup and character of the majority of Hispanic Americans!

Would we like to venture a guess as to how many of the well-known gun owner organizations have reached out to our resident Hispanic Community? How many of these groups have launched Second Amendment education programs to assist legal immigrants in understanding and appreciating the role that individually owned firearms had in the formation of the United States? What about marksmanship programs and firearms safety and handling information specifically constructed to include Hispanic Americans?

And, typically, if one supports the Second Amendment, then the rest of the Constitution is highly valued by that person as well. Here and now is a golden and rare opportunity for concerned gun and liberty enthusiasts to dramatically increase their ranks and pro-gun voting booth presence by engaging and collaborating with this receptive and rapidly growing segment of our American society.

Of course, additional courses reinforce the “good education” and the result is that if students have not learned to think for themselves, or have some opposing information from home or church to think with, they graduate and carry the indoctrination into every segment of society as gospel. New teachers from kindergarten to the universities will pipe the same, or similar, message.

Age and experience may alter the indoctrination, but the twig is already bent in a prescribed direction and the student, like the twig, will give first FROM NEGATIVE TO POSITIVE CONTINUED FROM PAGE 9

The University of Delaware forced incoming freshmen to participate in a “treatment” program a part of which informed them that the word racism applies only to “all white people.” It also “blamed whites for having created the term racism” in the first place “to deny responsibility for systemic racism.” At Hamilton College in New York, fall 2010, male students were required “to attend a ‘She Fears You’ presentation to make them aware of the ‘rape culture’ of which they were allegedly a part and of the need to change their ‘rape supportive’ beliefs and attitudes” (New American, Aug. 5, 2013, pp. 23-27).

No wonder the young man did not wish to be subjected to what he saw as indoctrination. Because he knows that there exist other views there is

hope for him, more especially if he selects professors who attempt to give alternative views of which there are still some, he will be fine. But it will take his personal effort to not come out of the university experience “all the same.” It is students, the majority, who have no idea that there exist alternative views that are most in danger.

my day saying, “It’s a beautiful day full of opportunities for success and

happiness! I feel Super-Fantastic and I’m getting better! I am happy, successful and joyful! I am a force for good!” I can go on, but I am sure you get the picture.

So if you truly want to change, who you are, what you are or where you are in your life … if you want to become happier and healthier … if you’d rather be positive and optimistic … change what goes into your mind and begin with what you say to yourself. To you … no person is more influential than you. Others cannot determine your happiness and success unless you allow them.

Positive self-talk is number one, but what is next?

Examine everything that you allow into your mind. What are you watching on television or at the movies? Is it positive and uplifting? Will it positively enhance your life? If not, stop wasting your time. What are you reading? Again, ask yourself the same questions. I will humbly suggest that reading this column weekly is a good start!

Who are you hanging around? Do your friends encourage or discourage you? We become a blend of the

ten people you spend the most time with. Do you want to be like them? If not, maybe you need to choose your relationships more wisely.

The power to become who you want to be is within your hands. Living a positive life attracts positive outcomes. It is worth the effort.

consideration to returning to the indoctrination when confronted with anything in opposition. Colleges have so much power over “right” thinking.

An extreme example of this years ago, was a French Language and Culture class at Penn State University that required students to view the Michael Moore film “Sicko,” which focused on the inadequacies of the U.S. healthcare system and promoted national healthcare. In a French language class!?!

The indoctrination begins immediately in some colleges, critics say, “with an orientation where students begin by learning about the evils of ‘white privilege’ in a program called the ‘tunnel of oppression’ and sit through lectures informing them that they are part of a ‘rape culture’.”

system. After all, health care is a “right,” not a “privilege.”

Ah, but the devil is in the details.

How, in actuality, do we get rid of the insurance industry? What happens to those millions of workers? How do we set up the federal health care bureaucracy? How long will that take?

Medicare currently covers 80% of the Part B expenses — where will other the 20% come from that is currently funded by private insurance programs? Or will this new Medicare for All now cover all 100%? Has that been figured into the cost estimates?

No Democratic candidate ever says.

They probably haven’t thought it through that far; they probably don’t even know. Getting rid of the private insurance industry is a pipe dream, a hollow talking point. It will simply never happen. Never, and the Dems know it.

Free college tuition and forgiveness of student debt are also a popular talking point for many of the Dems. Some candidates want to cancel student debt altogether. There’s never a mention of actual details, however. Debt for private universities or just public ones? Sanders and others say tuition should be free to attend public college, but they never specify which debt they’re going to forgive. What about students who’ve recently paid back their loans? Do they get reimbursed?

Is there a look-back period, a sliding

scale of partial reimbursement? Who will pay the financial institutions the money they’re owed if the loans are forgiven? No one ever says. That’s because it’s just a talking point, a lie.

Another one is reparations for slavery as punishment for “white privilege.” This one is especially rich with “bogusity”, even by present-day Democratic standards. How will this be determined? Will everyone’s ethnic background be researched, and by whom? Do reparations apply only to those of actual African heritage? What about dark-skinned persons from, say, South America or the Caribbean?

Do they qualify? What will happen with people of mixed heritage? Barack Obama and Halle Berry, to use two well-known examples, are the progeny of mixed white-black parentage.

Would they be qualified for just 50% of the award? If ever there was an intentionally disingenuous, empty-headed policy proposal, this is it.

The Democrats want to rescind the tax cuts, and they all brag that they’ll do it on their “first day.” As was the case when President George W. Bush cut taxes, the Democrats automatically yell, “Tax cuts for the rich!” whenever there is a tax cut. It’s a risible claim. Ask any middle-class blue-collar worker earning $60,000 a year if he wants to give back his $130/month tax cut to the government. “Sure, I don’t need it, I don’t like getting my monthly gasoline essentially for ‘free.’

You can keep your $130, as long as I have the satisfaction of knowing that

www.CaprockPatriot.com Mitt Romney’s taxes are going up, too.” It’s not that Joe Average wants Romney’s taxes to go up. Mr. Average doesn’t care about Romney; he cares about himself and his family. Kamala Harris and Joe Biden — and the others — are the ones who will take personal pleasure in raising taxes on the Mitt Romneys of the world.

The list goes on — the Green New Deal, open borders and the decriminalization of illegal entry into the country, free health care for illegal aliens.

LGBTQ issues taken to bizarre extremes, such as males being allowed to unfairly compete as females in sports and men who “identify as women” being allowed in women’s and girls’ locker rooms and bathrooms.

Such is the Democratic platform for 2020. Nothing the Democrats are proposing so far is grounded in even the slimmest notion of feasibility or reality. None of their latest proposals can or will ever happen. They’re all just empty promises of free giveaways, made to ignorant, greedy voters, the “low information” voters. Eliminating the insurance industry, free college tuition, reparations, the Green New Deal, none of those will ever happen, ever. The Democrats are not running on any legitimate policy proposals — nothing about finding and producing new energy, nothing about keeping the country safer, no actual ideas to help grow the economy and raise employment, nothing at all about meeting any international challenges in Iran, the Middle East, Russia or elsewhere.

Instead, now that the “Russia-Russia-Russia!” issue is gone, the Democrats have taken to promising anything, saying anything — no matter how outlandish — in order to win back their voters and defeat President Trump.

Any voter with even half a brain can see right through this. Therein lies the danger for President Trump.

Taylor was a field organizer for Texans For Greg Abbott in the Metroplex where he consistently exceeded his weekly quota of 600 ID’s while simultaneously recruiting volunteers, running phone banks and leading training sessions on the Advantage software and application the VEP program will use. He hopes to go to law school, but not until after this campaign cycle.

Damara Fondren, East Texas Regional Director A “Fighting Texas Aggie,” Damara was born in Beaumont and grew up in the nearby metropolis of Hamshire in western Jefferson County. While

studying at A&M – researching the relationship between mass media and politics – she was also a full-time field organizer for the Abbott campaign in 2018, handling Brazos County and party of Grimes. Recently married in Rome, Italy, she and her husband, Jordan, live (surprise!) in College Station with their dog, Delta.

Bianca Danielle Garcia, South Texas Regional Director It’s easy to see why Bianca was given the key to her hometown of Donna.

Now the Republican Party of Texas’s field consultant for the Lower Rio Grande Valley, she was the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley College Republican President, which frequently landed her on Fox News South Texas for commentary. She was also selected from among thousands of applicants as a White House Intern in 2018, serving in the Office of Political Affairs and leading the Republican National Committee this spring to name her a “Rising Star.”

Sarah Lara, West Texas Regional Director This El Paso native started her

political career in June 2017 as a field organizer in El Paso for Texans for Greg Abbott. She showed such ability that the following May, she was promoted to West Texas Regional Director for the Abbott campaign, managing a team of field organizers and working with volunteers and local leaders throughout the vast expanse of West Texas.

An avid reader and Broadway fan, she received her B.A. from Grand Canyon University and earned a master’s degree in strategic communications from Liberty University.

Steve and Mitch have set out to build a staff of hard-working, energetic young political leaders to help support grassroots party leaders around Texas in adding more Republicans to the state’s voter registration rolls as we approach the critical 2020 election. We the People Liberty Celebration: a twelve part educational series

The Declaration of Independence: Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here.

Celebrating Our Religious Liberty

The Spirit of 1776 is the Spirit of Liberty. From the Reformation in the 1500’s through the Great Awakening in the 1700’s, there were almost 300 years of historical precedent demonstrating that a national government-mandated church controlling and dictating the unalienable right of personal faith, Freedom of Conscience (Spiritual Liberty) and corporate worship (Religious Liberty) was a violation of the laws of nature and nature’s God. It is an unwarrantable jurisdiction over We the People.

The civil rights of none shall be abridged on account of religious belief or worship, nor shall any national religion be established.

The First Amendment of the US Constitution states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” The Federal Government cannot establish a national religion or prevent anyone from practicing their own religion. Jefferson’s words “separation ~ George Mason, Father of the Bill of Rights ~ of church and state” are not in the Constitution. When any governing authority or court of law applies an erroneous rule of law based on Jefferson’s words, such a ruling is in disagreement with the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God, our unalienable rights and is unconstitutional being in violation of the First Amendment. They, too, have illegally and unjustly exercised an unwarrantable jurisdiction over We the People.

Religious Liberty, in agreement with the Laws of Nature & Nature’s God, is the freedom to exercise our Creator-endowed unalienable right of personal faith, worshiping and celebrating with others either privately or publicly, independent of government control, with our attitudes and actions respecting the unalienable rights of others.

against our law enforcement agencies, especially Border Patrol and ICE. Consider what has been happening in NYC with buckets of water being thrown, tossed, on NYPD officers. Where is the strong condemnation from the mayor of NYC, Bill de Blasio?

Yes, you easily learn who the left is based upon what they are not talking about. When you allow buckets of water to douse our officers, then respect drops and next thing you know, you have officers being shot at doing their normal duties, such as what happened in Philadelphia.

Six officers were shot, and you ain’t gonna hear any unrighteous indignation from these leftists.

Well, stupidly, some of them were ranting about gun control. I can assure you that the shooter, in this case, did not legally undergo a background check to acquire his AR-15. I guess that universal background check thing doesn’t mean too much to a criminal, drug dealer, miscreant. They do not read laws.

Someone does have the cajones to address the issue of responsibility for leftist violence.

“T his attack at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Field Office in San Antonio is completely without justification,” ICE Enforcement Removal Operations San Antonio Field Office Director Daniel Bible said in a statement.

Bible went on to blame “politicians, media outlets and activist groups” for “recklessly” sharing information and “misinformation” to the public.

“This disturbing public discourse shrouds our critical law enforcement function and unnecessarily puts our officers’ safety at risk,” said Bible.

Ponder these, just as a reminder: • In July, protesters with Never Again blocked the entrances to ICE’s national headquarters in Washington, D.C. • In mid-July, police in Tacoma, Washington, fatally shot an armed man after they said he hurled Molotov cocktails at an ICE building.

• On July 12, a group of protesters in Aurora, Colorado, took down an American flag and two other flags from outside an ICE facility and raised a Mexican flag and a defaced “thin blue line” flag, which commemorates law enforcement.

• Emily Covington, a spokeswoman for the GEO Group, a private prison company that manages some of the agency’s holding facilities, said its Boca Raton, Florida, headquarters was protested at earlier this week as a result of “misinformation about the services the company provides and by escalating rhetoric from activists.”

Who takes responsibility for violence from the progressive socialist left? Never forget, “when tolerance becomes a one-way street, it leads to cultural suicide.” That’s a quote from yours truly.
