No resolution yet to library, traffic admin strike LIZEKA TANDWA

The municipal management have this week again expressed their commitment to continue engaging with the workers and also to emphasise the importance of going back to work as the strikes are illegal and might have negative implications on all parties involved. “Unfortunately the situation has led to a total shut down of our libraries - a situation that is regrettable indeed, taking into consideration the time of the year,” said Municipal Spokesperson, Mthubanzi Mniki. staff. Our position is clear: implement the Task System so we can budget accordingly and pay our staff what they deserve,” he added. De Villiers said there would be another council meeting tomorrow (Thursday) but the strike would not be tabled on the agenda.

Repre sentatives from the Hope Jones Foundation have been handing out beanies to grateful recipients in the Port Elizabeth area for the past few weeks. The foundation has received over 200 beanies from the “Beaning Hope to Children” initiative, which was established by retired ladies who decided to knit beanies for a creative cause.
