Uitenhage police arrest armed Uphi unoteksi uMboniswa ufunwa ngamapolisa robber NCEBA DLADLA UITENHAGE members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) are investigating a case of armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm with ammunition after a 28 year old man was arrested by Highway Patrol members on Monday. According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Gerda Swart, it is alleged that the armed suspect entered a home at Pongolo Street, KwaLanga just after 7pm on Monday and demanded keys of a Silver VW Polo 251. “The armed suspect then drove the vehicle off while the complainant informed the police,” said W/O Swart. The vehicle-theft report was circulated within minutes by members of the SAPS KwaNobuhle and Radio Control

(10111 Centre) in Uitenhage, said Swart, adding when the members of the Uitenhage Cluster Highway Patrol noticed the vehicle passing them on the R334, they turned around and started chasing it. “Members from Nelson Mandela Metro Car Hijacking Task Team under the leadership of Colonel Duduzile Ngculu, who was busy following up on leads, went to the assistance of the members,” W/O Swart told PE Express Indaba. Police managed to stop the driver and apprehended him on the spot. They then confiscated a 9mm firearm with ammunition and also recovered the stolen vehicle. “We thank the members for their dedication and commitment and urge all police officials to continue to clamp down on armed and violent criminals over the festive season,” said Uitenhage Cluster Commander Brigadier Ruphus Pandela.

Although the municipality could follow a legal route to end what was an illegal strike, according to Baron, they opted to meet the representatives of the aggrieved employees and discuss the matter. South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) Eastern Cape Secretary Siphiwo Ndunyana confirmed, “The Municipal employees have been back at work since Tuesday.” Asked whether the municipality

Cikizwa Saul from New Brighton in Port Elizabeth. I was diagnosed with asthma and tonsillitis when I was twelve years old. In 2009 I started experiencing backache and headaches and was later diagnosed with high blood pressure. I went to the clinic for treatment but in 2010 I overheard people in the taxi talking about Gotha products. I stopped the taxi at the Pick n Pay centre and bought Gotha spray and sprayed it on my back and rubbed it in. I also sprayed it in my mouth. At home I washed my swollen feet and sprayed my feet. Within three days I experienced no more pains and my blood pressure was normal. I advise people to buy Gotha products. They are excellent products and you will see the results. Go forward Gotha Health. I am Siphe Mfihlo from Whittlesea (Queenstown) now residing at Orange Farm (Gauteng) My situation was beyond redemption before I learned about Magogotha health products. I had exasperating stomach problems, my face was covered with something like dandruff, which was embarrassing to appear in public. I read about this Gotha health product in a newspaper and visited one of their stores where I bought Ostrich Oil Soap, Re-gen Skin Cream and Herbal Tea blend. I utilised this product for a while and within three weeks there was a massive change in my body and to my face. I value the product and I recommend it to the nation or for everyone with the same problem. Thank you for making a difference in my life and keep up the good work and for making us proud of your Gotha products.

My name is Siqhamo Mnyazi. Last year I injured my shoulder when I was playing football with friends. I experienced a lot of pain; I couldn't even sleep the first night. My radio was on Umhlobo Wenene FM and I heard about the Gotha Health products. I went to the pharmacy to buy the Magogotha twin pack. I used the Aloe spray regularly on my shoulder. It was unbelievable. Just 3 weeks and I was healed. I will suggest the Gotha products to any person with a sport injury. Gotha products work 100%. I recommend the Gotha product, thank you GOTHA HEALTH.

My name is Vuyiswa Gwaqu from Siya Street, Joe Slovo in Port Elizabeth. One day I was cleaning my yard, when I felt a sharp pain in my spinal cord. The doctors diagnosed me with stress, arthritis and tonsillitis. It was very painful. I heard people talking about Gotha Products on the radio and early the next morning I took a taxi to a Gotha shop in the Pick n Pay centre. I bought a Twin Pack and Aloe Spray. I used the products and after just two weeks I could see the improvement. Then my husband passed away and I didn't have enough money to buy the products. It was a very stressful time, but then I bought the Herbal Tea blend and the stress was gone. Forward Gotha! Forward. Carniboost + Hypermag - Twin pack is a

combination of Magnesium and L-Crnitine. Magnesium is an essential mineral for staying healthy, it improves muscle function and prevents insomnia, constipation, heart attacks, hypertension and migraines. L-Carnitine has been found to improve the body's ability to improve memory, increase energy, raise metabolism, and enhance overall quality of life.

Oxi-Vite is an easy way to ensure that you are getting the adequate supply of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that you need each day. Available in adult syrup and children's syrup. Gotha Oxi-Vite has specifically been made a liquid formulation as liquid nutrients are absorbed faster and more effectively.

Eunice Tokwe from Kwazakhele in Port Elizabeth. Previously I had a job in a restaurant, but had to stop working due to my knee problem and high blood pressure. I couldn't walk for long distances and it was difficult to stand for any length of time. As time passed I heard people on the radio speaking about Gotha Twin Pack. I visited one of their branches in Dasi, accompanied by my grandchildren. They had to carry me to the top of the stairs. I bought the Twin Pack and Aloe spray. I drank the tablets and drops in the morning and applied the spray to my knee. I have been using Magogotha products now for five years and honestly, I can walk again without any assistance and I have no more pains in my knee. I do all the cleaning at home myself and there is nothing I cannot do. Furthermore, my sister had blisters on the back of her ear. I also gave her Gotha spray. Within seven days my sister was completely healed and the blisters disappeared. When I go for checkups even my high blood pressure is normal. I will use Gotha Products till the end of my life.

My name is Tornado Khetho from Lusikisiki in Ngobozana location. I injured my knee playing football with some of the guys in my community. I heard about Gotha Health. I bought the Gotha spray and Gotha soap. Within three days my knee was better. Go gotha Magogotha, your products are something to be proud of. Thanks Gotha health.

Aloe spray is rapidly absorbed and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. Aloe spray can help relieve pain, diminish swelling, encouraging healing and restoring normal cell function. Can also be used for the relief of minor burns and sprains, sports injuries and arthritis.

Will we enjoy a safe festive season this year? PE Express Indaba Reporter NCEBA DLADLA wanted to know whether residents were hopeful of a peaceful and crime free season, and this is what they had to say NCEBA DLADLA MEC for Safety and Liaison Helen Sauls-August and Provincial Police Commissioner Lt Gen. Celiwe Binta last week launched Operation Duty Calls Festive Season Safety Plan at the Lillian Ngoyi Sport Centre, Kwazakhele. ) “People are not working. They want easy ways to make money and abuse drugs, especially the youth. I appreciate this (launch) but crime won’t go down, I am afraid,” said Xolani Mbali from Zwide township. ) Mzwekhaya Buku doubts whether the operation will do any good. He said, “I run every day in the morning and see very serious crimes committed; and police do nothing! The other day I saw a man being attacked by thugs and luckily there was a police van in the vicinity. I called them but they would not go to the scene. I think some of these police are running scared of these thugs.” ) “I enjoyed watching what the police did today. It was wonderful. But, crime is high; I wish police could do this every day. They were visible and vigilant; even the Brigadier was hands-on in the stop and searches - their hands got dirty. We want to see that, but it must be consistent,” said Kwazakhele’s Vusumzi Hoyi. ) “I think this is going to work, especially if they employ more police to comb this area especially at night,” said Khunjuswa Mpahlwa from Kwazakhele. She added, “Criminals target and victimise our fathers and mothers who come late from work.” ) “I doubt whether it will do any good. Police in this area are the reason why there is so much crime. They are involved in corruption and nepotism. You fight with your girlfriend and you’ll find out that the policeman investigating the case ends up falling in love with your girl,” said Dumile Koliti of Kwazakhele. ) Said Tsepo Mathibeli, “ I think they have upped their game. We’ll see whether it will work because criminals like to try their luck. But for us who are no criminals, we’d like to urge police not to take our liquor when we are found drinking and not present it in court as evidence. They must stop stealing our liquor, that’s crime!” ) Sinethemba Mponzo, of Kwazakhele had his concerns. He said, “My concern is with police who wrongly accuse people and beat them without any evidence linking them to the crime. And when they discover that they were wrong the case just disappears and people are left without an apology.”

Mayor hoists Blue Flags at PE beaches INDABA REPORTER NELSON Mandela Bay Executive Mayor Benson Fihla could not hold back his excitement at the official hoisting of Blue Flags for Humewood and Kings Beach at the Beach Office last Thursday. “Our hard work has certainly paid off, as we again hoist the Blue Flag for both Humewood and Kings Beach,” said the Mayor. He said he was pleased to announce to the people of the City and the whole world that the two popular beaches had been certified to be safe, healthy and adhere to strict environmental management systems. The two beaches formed part of a number of beaches across the country that were recently given certificates of Blue Flag Status at an event in Durban. The Blue Flag status covers the summer season from November 2013 to April 2014. It includes adherence to four aspects of coastal management. The areas are: sound environmental management, environmental education initiatives and healthy bathing water quality. Safety and security for

beach users is also one of the aspects. The blue flag programme is currently running in a number of countries all over the world. The two Blue Flag statuses place Nelson Mandela Bay among the best beaches in the world as the Blue Flag award is the most prestige international award that could be bestowed on the city’s beaches for meeting the highest standards. According to the Executive Mayor, hard work by officials clearly showed that the city can achieve great things. “We need to place this City among the best in the world. Our beaches have a potential of attracting tourists that will create more jobs and boost the economy of the City,” said Fihla. “Today we have a reason to be proud and to celebrate, it was not an easy road to get here but we are here and have received the blue flag status as the municipality,” said EDRS Standing committee chairperson Cllr Magopeni. She added, “As we hoist the blue flag this year , let us all recommit ourselves to safeguard and enjoy the wonderful asset that is Humewood Beach and all our other beaches this coming summer season and beyond.”

Holding a Blue Flag at Humewood Beach are from Left: Cllr Thembinkosi Mafana, Cllr Nomamerica Magopeni (Chairperson: EDRS Standing Committee), Gresham Groener, Cllr Benson Fihla (Executive Mayor), Roland Jerling and Morgan Griffiths ( WESSA).

Ben Nyathi Primary School pupils graduate NCEBA DLADLA THE Graduation Ceremony of Ben Nyathi Primary School Grade R pupils at the Nangoza Jebe Community Hall in New Brighton last Wednesday was very important in the lives of all the people involved in this school. This was said by the principal of this Kwazakhele-based institution, Mazotsho Dukwe. Dukwe revealed how this annual event boosted the morale of both the teachers and parents taking their children to his school. “Our school still remains the beacon of hope in the township. It is a no fee-school but we try our best to give our pupils a service par excellence, so that these mostly poverty-stricken parents are not forced to try the impossible - that of taking their children to the schools in town,” said Dukwe. The children they taught, Dukwe said, are able to read and write and possess the numerical skills required in their Phase. The work of teaching these children, however, has not been easy, according to Khonziswa Mbambo, a Grade R teacher at the school. “We try our best knowing that when they hold it (education), they don’t lose it. That’s what keeps us going, we want them to have a brighter future,” said Mbambo. “This is indeed an important day for us as it gives our children hope,” said School Governing Body (SGB) Chairperson Mthuthuzeli Yako, adding that as children saw themselves wearing graduation gowns like their teachers. they were expected to be inspired to read and be real graduates. PHOTO: NCEBA DLADLA (SASSA) Admin Clerk Boniwe Sithole who was a guest speaker used the opportunity to talk to the parents who were there to support their children about the government’s social grants. Sithole urged parents and foster-parents to apply for Child Support Grant, Foster Care Grant and Care Dependency Grant - and make sure that those were used strictly to help children get education. “Many children in this school depend on these grants for their education,” explained Sithole.’ Rev. Bongani Sicwebu of IDAMASA opened the event with a prayer.

Lesley ‘The Rock’ Hope too much for Mriba’s challenge NCEBA DLADLA LESLEY “The Rock” Hope became the new Eastern Cape Light Heavyweight champion when he stopped Leon Mriba in the first round of the vacant title fight at Jeff Masemola Community Hall, KwaNobuhle on Saturday evening. The Port Elizabeth duo were the main bout of Sibongile Nkebe’ Silindokuhle Boxing promotions bill in conjunction with the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture. It was sanctioned by Boxing South Africa (BSA). The fight ended in 2min 42 seconds of the opening round after Mriba (76.6kg) visited the canvass three times after taking solid punches from the raging bull Hope, forcing

referee Lizo Jordan to stop the proceedings and declare Hope (78.50) the new champion. In the best fight of the tournament Uitenhage pugilists Lonwabo Roboshi (46.90) and Siyabulela Khuphiso (47.69) hit each other hammer and tongs from the first round in a fight that kept the fans on their feet for eight rounds. Southpaw Roboshi dropped Khuphiso in the first minute of the first round. A determined Khuphiso fought well to end the round. He started charging forward in the second round, fighting behind the jab pushing Roboshi backwards. Roboshi rocked Khuphiso with telling blows from the fourth round, yet Khuphiso had his moments especially when Roboshi looked tired in the fifth round. Roboshi who took his record to 10 fights, 7

wins, two losses and a solitary draw gained his second wind later in the round, dropping Khuphiso (19-15-4) with a one-two combination in the sixth round, and proving himself better conditioned to take the fight on a unanimous points decision. In the main preliminary bout over six rounds, the vastly experienced Lungisa Jikani of PE stopped iRhini’s Ndudumo Lolwana KO2. In other results: Siphosethu Ncisana KO2 Mzwamadoda Jibiliza; Bongani Jim beat Xolisa Kana (TKO2); Yanga Daniso beat Lwandile Phillip (on points); Asandiso Mancapa beat Vuyani Swartbooi on points while in the only female bout, PE’s Nomampondomise Xotyeni beat Cape Town’s Bongiswa Silo on points over four rounds in the Junior Lightweight division.

Ntengento who started his football career in Solar Stars junior ranks, decided to establish a junior football club in the second semester of 2013. The club called Young Rising Stars comprises one U/9 team and four U/13 teams. Despite being unemployed, Road bought two sets of kit for his teams. Road said that the motive of forming the club was to curb crime in the

area of Zwide 4. Ntengento highlighted that he was urging the community members to help in keeping the club going. “I am the only adult in the club and I appeal to the community people to come on board. I am doing this for keeping the kids off the street. There are many challenges which we are faced with in the club. The club conducts its practice sessions in the little space which is a site. The surface of the ‘field’ is very rough and has damaged our only three balls. The parents are also needed to help where they can. Their contribution would be highly valued and appreciated,” explained Road.
