Artist turns waste into luxury cars After years of struggling to get recognition for his art, a KwaZakhle man, who builds and designs replicas of luxury cars, is finally making people take notice. One of his works of art, a replica of a BMW 1 series, is now displayed in the showroom of Continental Cars in Port Elizabeth. Car designer and artist, Leon Vaaltein, and Continental Cars’ Alan Kemp shows the replica that Leon hopes will open the door to realising his dreams to become an art teacher and car designer. Social housing project almost completed REPORTER

AIRVIEW Link at Restitution Avenue, has been inundated with applicants for the affordable housing project which will be ready for occupation at the beginning of April
this year. According to Imizi Housing Utility, who have been instrumental in the construction and running of the Walmer Link project and now the Fairview Link project, they have had over 1 200 applicants to date with many still
applying for residence at the Fairview Link social housing project. Imizi Housing Utility CEO, Thamsanqa Ngcezula, said they have been busy sifting through various applications since late last year and were expecting to have more applicants during the course of the year.
Ngcezula said the housing project is mainly for people earning less than R7 500 and more than R2 500. A total of 30% of the units would be reserved for those people who are descendants of Fairview Land Restitution beneficiaries.
