MISS MATRIC DANCE 2016: TAMERON KARELSE
And the winner is . . . TANYA VAN ZYL
A
FTER months of searching for our Miss Matric Dance of 2016, the winner was finally crowned last Thursday.
She is the humble and beautiful Tameron Karelse from Alexander Road High School who bowled the judges over with her stunning red dress and overall look for her matric dance in the Percy Walker Hall at Alexander Road. Her dance was held on July 30. She was crowned the third Miss Matric Dance winner during an informal movie morning at Ster-Kinekor in Baywest Mall (read more about the movie morning on page 22). Tameron designed her own dress, but it was made by Eyam Ndedwa Creative Designs, with dressmaker Evelyn Ndlangana. “Originally I was inspired by a powdery blue dress worn by Lupita Nyong’o. From there
I sketched and incorporated lace designs. Finally I ended up with the lace bodice and trailed flowy lace detailed bottom,” Tameron said on where the inspiration for her dress came from. “I chose the colour red because it complimented my skin,” she added. Her hair was done by Salon Dene, her make-up was done by Nicole Baartman from MAC Comestic Make-up House

and her photographer was Sherwin Andrews. According to Tameron, she started planning for her matric dance four months prior to the event. “My matric dance was a night to remember because it was well spent with friends who journeyed with me in my high school career.” She was accompanied to her dance by her class friend, Logan Holmes. After reading about the Miss Matric Dance competition in the PE Express, Tameron decided to enter the competition but said she never expected to make it this far in the competition. “When I was announced as the win-

ner, at first it hadn’t sunk in, but I was certainly humbled!” Tameron was also a very busy matriculant. She was a Student Leader and she received academic honours being ninth in her grade. She also received the Good Fellowship trophy and the Dickason Brothers trophy for Admirable Initiative, as well as scrolls for Public Speaking. “I was first in the subjects Life Orientation and Visual Arts Practical and I won the Afrikaans Best Speaker Competition.” Tameron was also the Chairperson of the Voice Christian group, a member of the
Maths Relay Committee and Finance Club and with the Annibrand AKTV society, together with a team of fellow students, she assisted in tutoring scholars at the Republiek Primary School. In her free time she enjoys drawing and being creative, tutoring students in Mathematics and Business Studies and writing creative poetry and short stories. She will be studying Architecture at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University next year. Her advice for next year’s matriculants attending a matric dance? “You need not conform to what is accepted as the norm and stay true to who you are. Preparation is vital and it avoids pressure before the big day!”

Dora Nginza officially opens HighCare Burns Unit NCEBA DLADLA THE power of what the relationship between the public and private sector can achieve is immeasurable, said Provincial General Manager Hospital Services, Dr Litha Matiwane. Dr Matiwane was showing appreciation for the hard work between the hospital management and the private sector support during the official opening of the High-care Burns Unit at Dora Nginza Hospital recently. “Their (doctors’ and private sector’s) understanding and appreciation of the plight of thousands of people who depend on this hospital for health services, is commendable,” said Dr Matiwana. This KwaZakhele-based hospital has been struggling with not having a high-care unit and not enough beds for patients suffering from burns.
Dr Matiwane congratulated doctors Aydin Vehbi and Samir Abbas, whose hard work has led to the fulfilment of their dream - that of opening a unit with specialised and fitting equipment to cater for the needs of both young and old victims of burns. “This is the first phase of the Burns Unit that has its own theatre, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and dedicated staff. We are very proud,” said Dr Vehbi. The high-care burns unit is located in the area that used to be a Paediatric Ward. It was provided with six new beds and patients would also receive ventilation if they needed it. Dr Vehbi is grateful for the fact that outpatients would no longer be treated in the same high care area, but would have their own ward. He thanked the Health Department for their support and collaboration which resulted in the fast-tracking of the decisions.

Relief for water crisis in metro ODETTE PARFITT
THE water crisis that had taps running dry in Nelson Mandela Bay last week, has been averted to some extent, but every drop still counts. This was the warning given by Annette Lovemore mayoral comitee member for infrastructure. “The water savings already applied, have been a great help,” said Lovemore.
“We are very grateful to the people who have heeded our call for help and hope they will continue saving water.” It is thanks to these savings that suburbs such as Lorraine, Rowallanpark and KwaNobuhle, who were without water on Thursday afternoon, now have water, said Lovemore. “The water will be a little browner in some places because of the reservoir’s low level, but we are now no longer in a state of absolute crisis.” According to Lovemore, the Chelsea reser-
voir, which last week dropped to an alarming 6% of its capacity, stood on Friday at 30%. “It is still extremely low, because we keep the reservoirs at 100% usually, but it’s a start.” Residents were on Thursday also advised by the metro to limit their water consumption to 250 litres of water per day. Penalties in the form of increased rates have also been approved by the metro for those who use more than 400 litres per day. To report water leaks and abuse, call 0800 20 50 50 (free from a landline).
Metro police clamp down on illegal car guards CARALEE DORFLING METRO Police in Nelson Mandela Bay is clamping down on car guards working without permits. On Friday, December 2, the metro police removed illegal car guards at the beachfront. “The operation had already started on Thursday, where all car guards who cannot prove that they are registered with Psira (the regulatory authority for the private security industry) are warned and fined,”
said John Best, mayoral committee member for safety and security. According to Best, the illegal car guards were first warned and stripped of their bibs. Best said the metro police confiscate the brightly coloured bibs used by car guards to identify themselves as guards, if they are not legal car guards. “The next time the same car guard gets caught as an illegal car guard, he is fined R100. “If we find a repeat offender, we will not
hesitate to arrest such a person,” said Best. The metro police will maintain a strong presence at the beachfront during the festive season. “Safer beaches for our local residents and visitors are the main goal. Therefore our law enforcement officers must ensure that rules are obeyed.” Best warned the public that the municipal regulations also mean that no alcohol may be consumed in public. He also said motorists can expect more roadblocks in the festive season.

Uviwe campaigns make difference in children’s lives REPORTER UVIWE Child and Youth Services (formerly known as PE Childline) have initiated an empowering Maths and Science tutoring programme this year for girls from underprivileged communities, specifically the Shauderville and Gelvandale areas. The programme also included Life Skills programmes. A certificate ceremony was hosted on the November 29 to honour the 25 girls who successfully completed the educational programme and drastically improved their Maths and Science school marks. The programme saw more than 50 percent of girls improve their school marks from 20 percent to up to 70 percent in results. Funding and donor support were critical for the continuation of the programme. It received a generous sum of R50 000 from Stein Muller and others such as The Federated Employers Mutual Assurance Compa-
ny (FEMA) to support the programme’s tutoring, stationery and transportation costs. During the months of October and November, Uviwe also hosted a ‘’One girl, One gift’’ campaign. The Christmas campaign was aimed at giving sponsored gifts to girls in the Girl-Child project and to those who receive social services in an effort to restore their dignity after many hardships and losses throughout the year. Girls hailing from communities and families where Christmas gifts and basic needs are often not on a priority list, received gifts from donors such as Price Water House Coopers, KMPG Auditors, Woodridge College and Bay FM. The gifts were distributed to learners in the Girl-Child Project on the November 29. Girls between the ages of 14 and 18 on social work caseloads received their gifts on December 2. Should you wish to donate to or get involved in similar projects, contact Uviwe on 041 453 0441 or uviwe@uviwe.co.za.

Accommodation support for NMMU students REPORTER NELSON Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) will be assisting nearly 500 students with temporary accommodation so that they can complete their December examinations.
option of writing in January, the number of students who will take advantage of the temporary accommodation opportunity has dwindled to 471. Many landlords have also kindly extended their leases to their student tenants at minimal or no extra cost. However, those students who have not been so fortunate will be accommodated at no charge in either on-campus or accredited off-campus residences until they have completed their exams. “It has been a trying time for our students. It is the least we can do, said Dr Mpuru. NMMU examinations end on December 15. At least 70 percent of students appear to have opted to complete the majority of their examinations this year, as opposed to January next year. However, students were given the option of choosing to write some of their exams now and some later. The 2017 examinations will run from January 9 to 24.

These are students living in off-campus accommodation, whose leases expired on November 30 but who still need to write exams in December as a result of the University’s extended academic year. “It is not the students’ fault that the academic year had to be extended. That’s why we’re here to support them, said NMMU Director of Housing, Dr Shuping Mpuru. Originally, close to 2000 students living in flats, garden cottages and communes throughout the metro and George applied for temporary alternative accommodation. However, with most of the larger examinations completed by November 30 and the

“Ek was nog nooit ’n dag spyt oor my besluit nie.” Deerling is in 1986 as hoof van die musiekdepartement by die skool aangestel. Hy was sedert Oktober 1993 skoolhoof en sal op 9 Desember die leisels aan sy opvolger oorhandig. Onder sy bewind is onder meer die skool se eerste gr. R-klasse begin en het die skool – wat in 1967 gebou is – drie jaar gelede weer ’n blinknuwe baadjie gekry. “Een van my vele visies vir ons skool was
Antonio Lawack.

Hy het die wenlied, “Taste and See”, jare gelede gekomponeer toe hy ’n onderwyser by St. Dominic’s Priory was. “Dit is my gunstelinglied. Dit was destyds my eerste poging om ’n koorstuk in ’n nieklassieke styl te skryf. “Ek het ’n begeerte gehad om ’n lied te skryf wat op my gunstelingvers, Psalm 34 vers 8, gegrond is,” sê die onderwyser van die Linkside High School. Lawack sê hy het letterlik voor die klavier gesit en ’n melodie vir die refrein uitgewerk.
“Ek is ’n groot aanhanger van ’n hoogs singbare melodie. Dit was dus my beginpunt. “My jongste seun, Liam (6), sal volgende jaar in gr. 1 wees. Ek het maar nog my bedenkinge oor sy musiektalent, want nes hy
mooi ’n liedjie sing, moduleer hy eensklaps na ’n ander toonsoort,” sê Lawack laggend. Hy sê hy is baie dankbaar vir sy vrou, Janine, hul gesin en familie, vriende, kollegas en instansies wat hom tydens die hele kompetisie ondersteun het. “Ek is baie opgewonde en bly oor die feit dat my komposisie erkenning kry. Ek sou baie graag die gospelbedryf wou betree as ’n liedjieskrywer. Wie weet, dalk nader sangers my ná dese.” Tussendeur beywer ek my as komponis. Gelukkig is die man wat by Hom skuil’.”

“He” was hul geestelike liedjie. “My hart swel van trots. My koor het alles

Swimming, outdoor fun for kids this holiday REPORTER THE arrival of summer and the good weather that accompanies it leaves parents wondering what to do with their children. Safety in a supervised environment is offered by the Bubbles Swimming School Holiday Club which takes place from December 8 to 9 and 12 to 16. With venues for both outdoor fun and indoor swimming activities, Bubbles Swim School combines fun activities with swimming and safety lessons to educate the youngsters. “We live in a country where we love to be outdoors and, living at the coast, outdoors includes playing in water,” said Lerryn Mew, Bubbles Swim School instructor. “Any time children or inexperienced people are near bodies of water, safety should always be high on the list of priorities.” “During the 2014/2015 season, the National Sea Rescue Institute was called out 643 times and rescued 760 people. The 2015/2016 festive season saw them involved in 123 rescues, saving 141 people and between December 1, 2015, to January 21 this year, there were 22 drownings. Water safety cannot be stressed enough.” In order to learn proper water safety and swimming techniques, young swimmers should be taught by qualified instructors, rather than simply adopting the bad habits of their parents. “There are structured beach activities, swimming activities and recreational play, with the option of taking it indoors if the weather is bad,” said Mew. “We are at the start of the festive season and the best way to ensure a good summer is to keep safe and stay smart.” To find out more about the Bubbles Swim School Holiday Club, contact Lerryn on 082 325 9815 or lerryn@fgc.co.za.

Puss in Boots at Little Theatre REPORTER THE famous feline with a fondness for fancy footwear will be making an appearance in the Little Theatre this month. Charles Perrault’s classic fairytale has been turned on its head and a tantalizing song and dance comedy awaits Port Elizabeth audiences. From the producers of the extremely successful production of Snow White in 2014, Puss in Boots promises to delight audience members both young and old with the husband and wife team of Mark and Yolande Farrow at the helm once more. Maestro Richard Campbell as Musical Director and Lauren Volker handling the choreography, complete the production team. The cast ranges in age from 7 to 70 with the lithe and engaging Sikho Gaika playing
the title role. The Royal Family is led by the inimitable Leslie Speyers in his first outing as a Dame, playing the very colourful Queen Wendolina. The role of King Wally the Once, a man of few words, is in the safe hands of Mark Farrow, while Princess Esmerelda, their daughter, is played by Abi Ranwell who, at the age of 15, is already known in local theatre circles. Matthew Hamilton as Bobbie, the Royal Page, completes the royal ensemble. The production guarantees fun for everyone, in true pantomime tradition. The show started on December 1 and is running until December 17. Tickets are R80 per person and bookings can be made through Computicket. The Box office will also be open prior to each performance, but booking is vital. For more info, contact Yolande on 083 541 9178.

Testimony for KING LWASA
My Names is Charniel Johanes from Western Cape. Firstly I want to thank KING LWASA for what he done for me in my life and for all success I have achieved because of him Financially. There are many doctors out there who claim they can change people’s life financially while they cannot do it and I’m saying this out of what I have been going through trying to change my life. Before I met the real one KING LWANGA, I lost a lot of money until last year 24th October when I read about KING LWANGA who helped a lot of people by using SHORT Boys to put money into their account in 2hrs and he only take 20% after the success of work. Am happy with my family and we got our own business running. He also got RATS to bring money in your house, MAGIC RING to win money games, Lost lover, Family Matters and Divorce all problems solved in same day

THERE IS HOPE! He is Blessed To Heal And Perform Miracle
Until I, Andrew 38 years old from KwaNomzamo, Humansdorp, heard of Prophet Jerry, the blessed, my life was upside down and nothing seemed to be working for me. All my houses furniture was being repossessed as I could not afford them anymore as I had no money. Until a friend had referred me to the blessed man who came along and changed my life within a week. Thanks Prophet Jerry I lost everything in my life after being retrenched from my work, my house bond and cars were being repossessed and my kids dropped out of school. I had to depend on loan sharks to survive. He gave me a Magic Ring and Short Boys which put money into my account and house. I started my own business and I am now a successful business man, feeling fulfilled, happy and blessed again. He helps with all problems. If you are suffering please contact Prophet Jerry also available on whatsapp. You pay after success, he also treats over the phone and deliver nationwide plus home visits around Eastern Cape. Also available in P.E, Jeffreys Bay and Humansdorp

Plenty December sporting action JUST because it’s the December holidays doesn’t mean it’s time for the sports events to take time off. On the contrary, the sports action increases in December with plenty of action to look forward to and a great opportunity to try your hand at triathlons. This Sunday sees the aQuellé Ocean Racing Series taking place at Hobie Beach at 9am with no fewer than 7 events to choose from, giving

everyone in the family a reason to come on down. The swim enthusiasts get to take part in either the 400m, 1km, 2km or 3km Ocean Swim whilst those keen to stay on land get to enjoy either the 5km Beach Run, 5km Beach Walk or for the kids 12 years and under there is the popular Kids’ 1km Beach Run with finishers medals and their own lucky draw prize giving and the chance to win R500 cash. The Series is open to anyone, with entries open at Hobie Beach from 7.30am in the morning. This is followed by the extremely popular About IT Triathlon Summer Series which comprises 4 separate race days (December 16, 18, 21 and 26) and is ideal for both the seasoned and novice triathletes. The Sprint Distance triathlon consists of a 750m swim, 20km cycle and a 5k run and the Series is open to both individuals or teams (can be 2 people or 3 people). Entry fee is just R200 per person with a R30 temporary licence fee if
not Triathlon SA registered. Online registration per race is recommended on www.trisummerseries.co.za as on the day entries include a R50 late entry fee. The first 3 races are based at Pollok Beach, Summerstrand, whilst the race on December 26 is at Port St Francis in St Francis Bay and is traditionally the busiest race of the 4 with over 300 participants anticipated. The About IT Triathlon Summer Series is supported by aQuellé, Caltex Eastern Cape, Dynamic Express Services, Black Sheep and Oracle Media with R7 500 cash and medals up for grabs for the overall Series winners. Finishers medals are up for grabs at each of the 4 races this season with the Port Elizabeth races starting at 8am and the Port St Francis race at 8.30am. See website for race routes and online registration. The December season will finish with the Marina Mile on Friday, December 30, at Marina Martinique, Jeffreys Bay. The events on offer include a Double Mile, 500m, Kids Bank-Bank and the Mile swim through the stunningly beautiful Marina which has to be one of the premier open water swimming venues in South Africa. The event is being managed by Zsports Events NPC with information and online registration available on www.zsports.co.za.

What’s more you couldn’t ask for better from the men in charge: Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon as Springbok captain Francois Pienaar in a dramatic re-telling of South Africa winning the 1995 Rugby World Cup. As if that weren’t enough it’s taken from the bestselling John Carlin book, “Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game that changed the nation” and is directed by that prince of directors, Clint Eastwood, at a chocka-block Ellis Park. Arrested and tried he would be banished to prison on Robben Island, where he languishes for 27 years. In 1994 he would become South Africa’s first black president. But this is just a sketchy background to the film that traces the growing influence of Mandela on the country and the South African way of life – all of this leading to the 1995 World Cup final against New Zealand – not forgetting the shaky start to the tournament, including the team’s narrow de-

feat of France in Durban to reach the final against New Zealand. Encourage your children to see it. It’s honest, it’s real. Memorably Mandela once said he didn’t want to be remembered as “a sort of deity”. He added: “I’d like to be remembered as an ordinary human-being with virtues and vices.” The film, not in the least preachy, is full of action and brings out the close relationship between Mandela and a nicely played low-key performance of Damon as Pienaar. The poet, W.E. Henley, perfectly sums up Mandela and his ideals. The last lines go: It matters not how straight the gate/ How charged with punishments the scroll/I am the master of my fate/I am the captain of my soul. Against this background this film of Mandela and what he stood for in the emerging new South Africa in the early days of the 21st century is moving in the extreme. If you haven’t seen it, see it. If you’ve seen it – see it again. Returning to last weekend’s deserving 26-14 World Rugby Sevens tournament win over Fiji in Dubai the Blitzbokke seldom looked in any serious trouble as they cruised through one winning round after another. In this kind of form they were much too good for Fiji. Particularly in individual performances from captain Phillip Snyman, Werner Kok and particularly Seabelo Senatla , the South Africans look more or less unbeatable. But Sevens, as has been seen in the past, can be a funny ole game. Precision is everything. Tiny mistakes that undo a team are often found lurking around an unsuspected corner.

TALKING F1: NATALIE LE CLUE
Nico Rosberg’s shock announcement and the future THERE is an old adage in sport that it’s better to go out on top. But Nico Rosberg may have taken this motto to a whole new level. The 2016 driver’s champion has sent a thunderbolt of shock through the world of Formula 1 by announcing his immediate retirement from the sport. The stunning move left most shocked as they quickly clambered for a reason but you needn’t have looked far for a one. In his statement he alluded to the incredible pressure of the 2016 season and how much his family had to sacrifice to support him and expressed that he didn’t want to put them through that again. We aren’t often provided with a true glimpse into the driver’s mind and what they, and their families, really go through and what it is to be a top level Formula 1 driver. From the bit of insight we’ve been given by Nico it’s clear that, for him, F1, and winning the title, is an all-consuming effort to the detriment of his family. Some will say that his retirement is because he won’t be able to beat Lewis Hamilton again.
The truth is, Nico has already beaten Hamilton and, to himself, has nothing left to prove. Twenty-five years ago he set himself the goal of becoming the Formula 1 world champion and he’s achieved it and now his priorities have shifted to his family. He leaves the sport with 206 Grand Prix starts, 57 podiums, 23 wins, one world championship, and richly deserved respect. Naturally, Nico’s retirement has sparked furious debate about who his replacement will be at Mercedes. Already, Niki Lauda has confirmed that nearly half the grid has called to offer their services with the exception of Kimi Raikkonen and Daniil Kvyat. The most likely, but probably least exciting, replacement is Mercedes protégé Pascal Wehrlein. In his favour is the fact that he knows the inner working of the team and he’s unlikely to be the cause of any tension with Hamilton. Additionally, if Wehrlein doesn’t get the drive then Mercedes are effectively shooting down its own Young Driver Program. But the caveat to Wehrlein is that the top
brass previously didn’t think him ready for a step up and slotted Esteban Ocon in at Force India ahead of him. If he could get out of his contract at McLaren Fernando Alonso is a possibility whom Merc would certainly want. Given their spirited history, Hamilton wouldn’t be overjoyed to see his 2007 teammate alongside him. There are even some speculative rumours that Sebastian Vettel could switch to Merc but this move is probably more unlikely than Alonso’s. Merc would undoubtedly roll out the red carpet for teen-sensation Max Verstappen but Red Bull unquestionably has his contract tied up firmer than the Gordian Knot. There are two more legitimate possibilities however. It took an awfully long time for Sergio Perez’s contract to be finalized at Force India cre-
ating the impression that he was looking to make a move. Add to this that Perez’s main sponsor is Telmex which is owned by Carlos Slim, the richest man in the world. If Merc were interested in the Mexican driver, Slim could potentially incentivize Force India to release Checo from his contract and clear the way for him to join Mercedes. There is also current Williams driver Valterri Bottas and one of his managers happens to be Toto Wolff. Further, Williams run Mercedes engines and if they wanted Bottas in their stable they could offer the British team increased engine support, perhaps a discount, and even throw Pascal Wehrlein in to sweeten the deal. While all of these permutations remain speculation it has already injected a frenetic energy into the 2017 season.

Swim twins aim for explosive performances at Worlds
Stuur jou nuus na express@media24.com
REPORTER UITENHAGE swimming twins Alaric and Alard Basson are preparing for a week of explosive performances when they compete for South Africa in the World Short Course Championships in Canada this week. Taking place in Windsor, Ontario, the 13th Fina short course championships will see the 20-year-old Nedbank NMMU Swimming Club stars test themselves against the world’s elite from December 6 to 11. Alaric is preparing for a week of intense competition as he tries to make his mark in the 200m breaststroke and the 100m individual medley (IM). “There is a big difference in short course racing in a 25m pool. It is far more explosive than events in an Olympic size pool which is 50m long,” said Alaric. “For example, you will pace yourself in the 200m long course event but in the shorter pool it’s basically a sprint all the way. That makes it a lot tougher and much more intense.” In this year’s national short course gala Alaric won the bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke and silver in the 100m IM. The Bassons have been fine tuning their preparations at the Herbert Hurd Primary School’s 25-metre pool. “We have been training really hard and the intensity has been right up there,” said Alaric. “We have been putting in eight sessions a week, including explosive gym training.” He said his goals were to achieve his personal best times in each discipline. “Hopefully I can make a final and then

This is definitely another opportunity to make a mark for ourselves.” Alard earned a bronze medal in the 200m butterfly at the SA Short Course Championships. Alard, who will compete in the 100m butterfly and 100 IM, said the build-up had been “quite hectic”. He said the biggest challenge they faced was to adopt a positive attitude as they approached a meeting with the world’s elite
swimming stars. “We will have to go there with the right mindset and that is always the test in senior events such as this because you have to be ready to compete against the top guys.” He added it was a perfect chance to show what they could do as they didn’t often swim in senior world events of this nature. “This is the biggest meeting we will have attended so there’s a lot of excitement, but also a touch of nervousness,” said Alard.

PROMOTIONS III
Alec Brett Property Trust offers shopping adventure
SHOPPING: A woman’s favourite word. For some the word is synonymous with fun, relaxation or, in the case of most men, boredom or just outright fear. Any way you look at it, it has the potential to be a great adventure.
Though Willow Road Shopping Centre may still be the new kid on the block as far as malls in Port Elizabeth are concerned, it can definitely hold its own. The owner Alec Brett of Alec Brett Property Trust in Port Elizabeth is the owner of the Willow Road Shopping Centre located on the corner of Circular Drive and Willow Road in Fairview. “Mr Brett has been in the property investment business for many, many years,” said Julie Richards, Brett’s personal assistant. Brett has a good eye for properties and he is very good at recognising and realising a site’s true potential. Plot history The site on which the Willow Road Shopping Centre is built was previously home to the well-known
community landmark, the Forlee’s Building.
Willow Road Shopping Centre development The new shopping centre brought with it a lot of new opportunities and possibilities. This development and development in the broader area is a big positive for the community, as roads have been upgraded and job opportunities created. As the centre attracts more people to it, other businesses in the area also gain momentum to give the local economy a boost. The centre boasts lots of parking, convenient for shoppers who can drive up to the shop and park in front of the door! Special demarcated parkings for moms and tots, as well as the elderly and disabled! The development of the Willow Road Shopping Centre was done in phases, and took about 18 months to complete. Many of the existing tenants had leases in place, and to accommodate them, Brett had the builders work around the existing shops, so that is was “business as usual.” Brett’s reason for picking the Forlee’s Building spot is
that“it is currently the fastest growing area in Port Elizabeth.”
