HOW’S YOUR FAITH 42 JOURNALING: LIFE?

Cheryl E. Knight

Live By the Faith That Is As Big As Our God As I sat thinking about how to effectively relay what I think about this issue of Spirit Rising Magazine—LIVING BY FAITH—I drew a big old blank. There it is a huge slate of empty space. How intimidating! Why is encouraging someone to live by faith such a daunting task? Because it is an unbelievable thing to attain, practice and cling to. I drew a blank, yet as I penned these words, I found myself in a significant test of my faith. I decided to ask God for expanded territory, restoration of significant proportions and exceeding provision on a weekly basis for my business and my personal life. It was a bold step for me. God has often told me that I do not ask Him with abundance in mind—which means I ask for little when God is able to major things. In other words, I ask for water in a kid-size pool when God can part the sea. I realized that God was teaching me to allow faith, my faith, to be as vast as I believe He is. Have you ever thought about that? Is your faith all that you believe God is? It absolutely is. If your faith says God can provide rent in a one bedroom apartment, He certainly can; but, when your faith says God can take me from this apartment into a five bedroom, two and a half bathroom home—God certainly can. God’s word is available for your faith, is your faith available for God’s word? In this season of my life I believe God for larger than life relationships, provision, resources, opportunities, healing and generational restoration as well as abundant inheritance. I awaken each morning and say, “God I am expecting unexpected blessings and I am expecting your glory to leave me amazed!” My faith has been shaken and knocked from my spirit through various trials and tribulations; yet it is at a place now that I cannot even explain. I am learning that the delay in manifestation is absolutely not the final word—it is simply God’s word being prepared for application in the precise time for glory to prevail. There are, and will be, some rough OH MY GOD WHEN moments—I do not believe God is angered or disappointed when they come. I believe He waits for me to look up and see my rod of faith extended towards Him and His hand holding the opposing end. Live by faith—the faith that you will prevail because you already have—now live like it is. Faith is found in the funny favorite comment of legendary musician Ray Charles—let’s make it do what it do! May your faith abound so greatly that it manifests your needs and desires daily.

Pastor Heather Palacios

Father, we go through our lives with so little to go on. There often isn’t proof, evidence, signs or validations. So Father, with all that we are we put our faith in You. Trusting that our faith in you is all we need. Your word says that we are Children of the Most High God! We are your princes and your princesses. We are heirs with your Son. We are molded in your image. God you love us so much that you created us. And so when our faith waivers, when we doubt, when we can’t see the forest thru the trees...Oh, Father, that we would only look at ourselves and know that it is going to be OK. For you carefully and preciously created us in our mommy’s wombs. You knew us, intimately, before we were born. We, our flesh & our bodies and our souls matter SO much to you that you let your Son be brutally attacked, beat & crucified so that we might live. God, when there isn’t proof in our circumstances, Oh, Jesus, that we would see the proof of YOU in ourselves. Oh Father, forgives us when our faith falls short. And in your unfailing mercy, deliver faith to us when our faith depletes. Give us faith to know that when we cannot see your hand, we can always SENSE your heart. Oh Father, until we are Home with you, be merciful and faithful to us. We believe this and we proclaim it. In your awesome(est!) name we pray, Amen. Humbly submitted by your servant, Pastor Heather Palacios Potential Church

Yet we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, I have believed, and therefore have I spoken. We too believe, and therefore we speak. 2 Corinthians 4: 13

Living by faith is applying for that promotion that “on paper” you’re not qualified for but believe that God will grant you favor....living by faith is doing all the things that you need to be successful and letting God put the missing pieces together...living by faith is believing that in spite of what I see in front of me God will work things out in the end so there’s no need to lose sleep over it...that’s living by faith for me. Faith for the Journey U

nfortunately for many of us, the most ambiguous thing about life is our Christian journey. I have used (and heard others use) phrases to describe our present state of being, a desired goal, or perhaps a Christian practice which are at times unclear to some, even to ourselves. We say that we are blessed, anointed, called, saved, holy‌ we talk about sin, God, and the things of God. However, if one 8| s p i r i t

were to select three different people in same congregation to inquire what these phrases mean, it is quite possible they would receive three different answers. Imagine what happens when you survey members of different denominations. Ironically, when spoken of in church, faith is something about which we are to be certain. Yet, from personal experience, there were moments when I found myself struggling with

this concept of faith. I have also had friends who were comfortable enough to admit that when life is hard, understanding this walk of faith can be difficult. On one particular occasion, I was attending a bible study during a lesson on faith. Seated next to me was a friend, who between the two of us have 36 years of experience being actively involved in the Christian faith tradition. This was during a time, when we were each experiencing a crisis of faith. The pastor said that you can’t access the promises of God while being “double minded”.

Some members went on to say that not believing can result in not receiving. Many questions came out of that bible study. What exactly is faith? Is being double minded the only thing that hinders our prayers from being answered? Is faith just a tool to receive something from God? If we didn’t believe God would answer our prayers, why would we pray and why were we disappointed when the prayers went unanswered /undelivered? We both knew that Hebrews 11 states, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”, but what does that

mean in practical terms? How can a person be sure that he or she is living a life of faith? Perhaps 1 Peter 1 can give us additional insight into this concept. As we examine this chapter, we find the author greets the audience by sharing the news of a new birth into a living hope because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ (v3). He sets the foundation for his readers by telling them there is life that is available where one can live in expectation of good things. The key to living by faith for Christians is to acknowledge what we have gained because of the resurrection of Christ. We have gained everlasting life, access to God, forgiveness, and a relationship that is based on unconditional love. After we acknowledge this fact then we must move to a place of resting and trusting in the one who is wiser, stronger and greater than we could possibly fathom. While encouraging the people to expect something good, the author goes on to tell them there is an eternal gain awaiting them in heaven that will never spoil and through faith they are shielded by God’s power (v4). He stresses God’s everlasting care and eternal power. 10| s p i r i t

rising

However, there comes a shift in the message. After the author tells them to rejoice in the aforementioned, he goes on to discuss their trials. He mentions that for a little while they have endured grief of all types of trials (v6). Some translations render the phrase as season, nonetheless it means little, small or few. Isn’t if funny that when you are going through the trial, it never seems short? Nonetheless, just as there is winter, summer, spring and fall, there will be seasons in our life. Compounding the burden, is the matter of this not being one or two trials, but rather multiple and varying types of trials. In other words, whatever can go wrong does go wrong. This is where the crisis of faith can happen. How does one hold onto faith during these times? Why should one hold onto faith during these times? It is possible that the author opens his letter with encouraging words because he knows what situations the readers have encountered. The author possibly realizes that hardships, especially when recurring, can leave one dejected and despondent. Therefore, his introduction not only lays the foundation for his message, but it

is also a call to remembering the blessed assurance that is present in Jesus Christ and to anticipate the manifestation of what shall be revealed during the hard times. In verse 7, he describes faith (pistis) as the conviction of the truth of anything. Interestingly enough as this term relates to God, it is a belief that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things. As the term relates to Christ, it is the belief that Jesus is the Messiah and salvation comes through him. These trials,

according to the writer, have come to prove that your belief and trust in these principles are genuine and sincere. They come to prove that you believe God exists in spite of your circumstances and that Jesus saves, keeps and guides you through all types of adversity or affliction. The writer informs us of how precious this testing of our faith is and the value of going through it. Faith in the testing period is compared to gold, which even though it goes through the fire and is purified, it

will yet perish. However, the trial your faith endures will result in an everlasting praise, glory and honor until the appearance of Jesus Christ. There may be moments when we waiver in faith, but it is actually faith which brings us back to a place of grounding. It may not necessarily be an adjustment to our faith that needs to occur, but perhaps our mindset as to how and when the answers may come. Faith reassures us that there is a time limit to every trial. Faith is not just a tool to obtain blessings from God, but it is a vehicle through which we tap into the sustaining power of God. It is a tell-tale sign that we are growing in faith when we can acknowledge moments of crisis and yet reclaim our conviction because of the

remembrance of what God has done for us in the past. When we grow weary, we need but to only look back over our lives to the things we have already come through. We know that our faith is being strengthened when we can focus on the product of the process and not the pain. We know that we are growing in faith, when we can trust and believe God in spite of our circumstances. It has been said that the one constant is change. So while there will certainly be peaks and valleys in life, we can be confident that our God is with us through it all. Never let your circumstance speak louder than your history with God. When life tries to eclipse your view of God’s presence, REJOICE for this too shall pass.

When My Faith Is Ajah Teyafarra Whitfield-Cobb

The pulls, the tugs, the aches, and the pains that I feel as I live in the realm of the unseen can be rather pressing on my spiritual walk called FAITH! I have to keep it real as I say that my daily faith walk at times can be a struggle because I operate in kronos time (according to a natural clock, time we physically see and experience); but God operates in kairos (spiritual dimension time where the moment is whenever God calls it to be). When things don’t occur when I think they should or how they should; I begin to question whether or not it was real, did I miss or go ahead of God in different circumstances. Now faith

is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1. When operating by faith I am hoping for the invisible intangible things to become the tangible visible things. I often speak encouraging words and the promises of God to myself; to strengthen my faith. I also remind myself that according to Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me.” I have to be honest and admit that walking by faith is not always easy; not because I don’t see it, but because I don’t know when the manifestation of the promise will take place. The waiting keeps me on edge; makes me nervous,

Frustrated By Time (not anxious) yet keeps me believing because I know that God does not fail and above all else He is faithful. How do I know this? He has a track record of showing up for me, sometimes according to my timing. When it comes to faith it often feels like He is either on time, behind time or just operating in the suddenly. Really, what I think does not matter because whenever He chooses to move, He makes the difference in my life through every manifested promise. God is by no means on my time clock. I have to believe that {“according to my faith, it shall be doe unto me.” Matthew 9:29} I know that I can trust

Him! I am bold enough to take God at His word while looking for it to show up in my life. As I write these words, and potentially as you read them, I have things taking place in my life that don’t bring me to a place of asking if God will move on my behalf but when! In the spirit realm I can see it, smell it, touch it, do it, buy it, drive it, wear it, live in it yet in the natural, I ask “when God, when?” God doesn’t lie so I know that I have to be o bedient and trust that He will do just what He says He’ll do. Faith is also having the ability to wait patiently as He provides for me the very

things that He has spoken, shown or promised me. I understand that those pulls, tugs, aches and pains that I feel are just the enemy trying real hard to distract my focus. I choose to believe that God can and will do the impossible in my life whenever He gets ready. Timing may frustrate me but God’s word will prevail in my life as I walk by faith and not by sight. Does God’s timing frustrate your walk of faith at times? Of course it does; let us take our eyes off of the urgency of time and focus steadfast on this truth of faith, if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, He will repair, restore, revive, recover, save, deliver and set free—in due season.

When The Son Takes a Son By Joyce Adejumo

October third, 25 years ago God blessed me beyond measure to give birth to a beautiful healthy baby boy, his name was Mitchie. After being molested by my father at a very young age, doctors told me I could not have children. God proved them wrong and blessed me with life’s most precious gift of all—a child. God had a heavy task 20| s p i r i t

for Mitchie but God also gave him the strength, power and knowledge to fulfill his purpose. Mitchie was a warrior and a powerful warrior he was; he did so much to change the lives of those he would never meet. He fought for a cause that would save lives. Mitchie had a diligent heart; he loved and gave his all to others. Mitchie began walking at eight months and shortly after the precious age of three was paralyzed below the waist as a result of his biological father driving drunk and

crashing while returning him home after a weekend visitation. From the date of the crash on September 17, 1989, Mitchie underwent more than 100 operations and spent more than 1000 days in hospitals undergoing surgeries and treatments. His injuries from the crash included a broken back, ruptured lower intestines, a ruptured colon, a ruptured spleen and pancreas, a broken right femur, massive contusions on his buttocks and other parts of his body. This experience kindled within Mitchie a passion to become an outspoken and fervent advocate for tougher laws against driving while intoxicated—I fought with him every step of the way. In August of 2002, Mitchie was diagnosed with Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis (SSPE). This rare brain disorder is a slow-viral infections of the central nervous system associated with prior measles infection. The onset of SSPE generally occurs in late childhood or adolescence and is commonly characterized by the insidious onset of mental deterioration. Although spontaneous improvement or stabilization can occur, the vast majority of patients proceed over a period of months to years to generalized convulsions, dementia,

coma, and often death. As a result of this disease, Mitchie lost his ability to speak and had limited upper body movements. The Angels of the Lord descended from Heaven to take him home on the morning of Sunday, January 28, 2007. I miss and love him more than words could ever express. He was my only child and now he is home with the Lord. No more pain, no more suffering, my baby has gone home. Each day I prayed for a miracle for my son, I wondered if God was listening. I know now that God listened to all my prayers. Each day that Mitchie opened his eyes was a miracle, and now, he is totally healed. My mother has told me the most painful pain of all is the loss of a child; momma was right. The pain still cuts to the core of the/my soul. Yet it is my faith in The Father that gives me strength to go on in the midst of my pain. It is by faith, that even through pain I could not let God’s purpose for Mitchie die. Each year, with Mitchie’s memory embracing me and my faith assuring that all is well, the Mitchie Mitchell Foundation awards scholarships to high school students who are survivors and immediate family members spirit rising

of people injured or killed by drunk drivers. The foundation also provides counseling and educational support to city and state agencies, corporate entities, schools, churches and individuals on the impact of drunk driving on society. Mitchie was born and severely injured to demonstrate faith in action; though his body was broken he fought for others. Though he could have given up and all of us would have understood why, he believed by faith that his purpose was bigger than his pain. He left an impression that says

22| s p i r i t

through faith you can endure, serve, save and help others. Austin, Texas’ renowned Poet, Joe Brundidge wrote a poem honoring Mitchie, may the closing words of that poem remind you that in fact— by faith—all things are possible: “Fred Leon ”Mitchie” Mitchell III. Rest in peace sir, for you have earned it. You were a Busy Man...God is so good. He takes what is meant to hurt and pull us down and it builds us up and gives us strength. How powerful can one be—no other than God—He is awesome.”

And the prayer [that is] of faith will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. James 5: 15

Faith is unique and one-of-a-kind to each of us just as our fingerprints. Faith is simply having a good outlook on life, which in return allows good to look out for you. So, is it safe to say faith is friendly? I say, faith is not only friendly; it’s fun to have around. So, keep the faith! Craig Stafford

In July 2004, I went to my obstetrician. They drew blood and did, indeed, confirm that I was pregnant. When my OB came to my room, we discussed the complications I had encountered with my first pregnancy. A few bouts of pneumonia had caused fetal complications, causing DJ to be born at only 29 weeks. After considering this, my OB looked at me and said, “You are high risk....your pneumo24| s p i r i t

We can schedule it this week...” As soon as the suggestion for an abortion left my doctor’s mouth, the room and the doctor in it froze while my mind and heart went into whirlwind of confusion, anger and anxiety. The room wasn’t spinning, I was. I know my response time was only a minute, at most, but I felt like

The Faith that

Gives Birth

I looked at the doctor for days. I know what I thought, “You just gave me the responsibility to chose life or death for another.” I know what I felt—the movement of something in my womb that was more than just me. And I know what I blurted out, “I know it’s risky, but I have faith.” Hardly an eloquent response! For a word-nerd like me, you anticipate these moments where you can deliver some lofty proclamation. But I stood there, desperately clinging to my faith like a little girl clinging to her daddy’s pant-leg. I could not see this life within me; I could not see the risky future; I could not see the God whom my faith was in. But that’s not what faith is. We don’t see our faith with our eyes; we feel it with our hearts. Today,

Andy is five years old. He’s my second child...and our last. And he is a daily reminder that faith believes what the eyes can’t see.

Faith is Pleasing to God “Without faith it is impossible to please Him; for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”—(Hebrews 11:6) No one can say they do not have faith, for the Bible says: “God hath given to every man the measure of faith.”— (Romans 12:3) We must understand that “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”— (Hebrews 11:1) That means if you can see it, there is no need to have hope. Faith must be EXERCISED, TRIED and KEPT. With the heart God’s promises must be believed, but the mouth makes the confession. “He shall have whatsoever he saith,” scripture tells us in the book of Mark chapter 11 and verse 23.

Speaking faith in and using the name of Jesus produces mighty miracles. The Word says, “All power is given unto Me (Jesus) in heaven and in earth.” It further declares that, “If ye ask anything in My name, I will do it.” There are 4 essentials of Faith: 1.  Asking 2.  Believing in your heart 3.  Confessing with your mouth 4.  Acting upon confession Remember faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God— (Roman 10:17)

believe that my life is a testament to the fact that we were created to glorify God. To glorify the Most High Father, we must learn that in spite of every situation we are still creatures born to live our lives in glory to God. We are to be living witnesses, proof and examples of the promises of The Father and of His existence. In 2004, I woke up to encounter a normal day. I got up and went

to work, though I noticed I felt exhausted and very weak. The weakness began to consume me. I was sitting on a stool in the laboratory where I was working and I suddenly could not feel my legs. I felt feverish, was trembling and my skin had grown pale. I told a co-worker that I did not feel well and I went to see a doctor in the same building. He gave me a quick check up and did

some blood work in an effort to reach a diagnosis. Still feeling awful, I decided it might be best if I took the rest of the day off to go home and get some rest. On the bus ride home, I wondered if I had been exposed to something or just picked up a flu bug or a cold. I exited the bus not far from my home, and the strangest thing happened. I was standing on the side walk waiting to cross the street and without warning, I fell. I did not collapse, I did not black

out; I fell from a standing position. I laid there for a minute wondering, what is wrong with me; what in the world just happened? Then realizing I was still on the ground, I got up wiped the dirt from my butt and my clothes, laughed, crossed the street and walked home. The next morning I awoke to a ringing phone. My doctor wanted me to rush over to the emergency room. I started to cry—what could be wrong that he would need me to rush to the hospital? At the emergency room,

I asked the doctor would this be long and he said no. Not long became two days and that’s when the doctor entered my room and said, “You have a disease called Lupus (SLE).” SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSIS is characterized by chronic inflammation of body tissues caused by autoimmune disease. Those who suffer with lupus produce abnormal antibodies in their blood that target or fight tissues within their own body rather than bad or harmful infectious agents. Lupus can affect a variety of areas in the body. Sometimes it causes diseases of the skin, heart, lungs, kidneys, joints, and/or nervous system. I was broken into pieces. I gave up on life in that second. I just did not want to live any longer. I wanted to commit suicide because I felt like there was no hope in life any more. Then as quickly as it invaded my body, Lupus literally began to eat up my skin. I could not go out during the day, because sun light became painful. On January 15, 2004 the affects of Lupus got worse, yet being hospitalized offered no help, so I was 30| s p i r i t

released. After days of my pity pushing back against my fight, a small still voice spoke to me and said ‘I am God’. My immediate response was; God! God!? I did not want to hear about God. There was no hope or faith left in me. Months passed and I was still sick. Still, I decided to go to a birthday party, a party where I

would encounter a long time enemy. This girl and I had been enemies from our school days, we simply did not like each other; not the sight, name or thought of each other. Still I went to the birthday party at her house. She had accepted God as her Savior and instead of acting and reacting out of childish dislikes; she witnessed to me. As she spoke about church and Jesus and how she came to know him, I listened. God used another voice to speak. I went home and a few days later she called me and continued to witness to me. She

would do the same thing for many days and finally, in a half-serious, half-joking manner, I asked her, “how come you never invite me to your church?” She responded, “Please come on Sunday.” It was the last Sunday of March in the year 2004; that Sunday morning changed my whole outlook on my situation. The pastor started to speak, “if you are in need of healing or deliverance, God is here and if you ask you shall receive.” I knew this man was unaware of my diagnosis and he did not know that

I was looking for comfort and healing; yet I knew he (and the Lord) was speaking directly to me. When I was lost and broken He let me know by His stripes I am healed. His Word brought joy and reassurance to me. As I began to understand it and apply it in faith, even when it seemed like I was not getting any better, I realized there is a process for His healing. I also had to feel His spirit, know that it is ever present and to continually speak and believe His word. After about a year and a half of medications that did not make me feel any better; I decided no more. I had to heal by faith, I had to believe what I was living—that faith is real and evident. So I did it, one month and then two months without medication and no steroids to keep me from falling; instead it was two months of determination in the promise of God—that by His stripes I was healed. The specialist was surprised when he did my blood work; he was amazed with the results of every test. Every number looked wonderful, but he was still doubtful. So obviously he started to tell me what could potentially happen to me, etc. He had to do what was professionally sound and I still had to keep the faith. I walked out of the doctor’s office prais32| s p i r i t

ing God. God said by faith all things are fulfilled—I applied it and thanks be unto God (at the time this article was written) it has been close to three years that I have been off my medication. No one can tell me that the God I serve is not alive, or that the blood of Jesus doesn’t heal—just have faith.

And the pray er [that is] of fait h will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; a nd if he has com mitted sins, he w ill be forgiven. James 5: 15

I have fought the good (worthy, honorable and noble) fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept (firmly held) the faith. 2 Timothy 4: 7

Living by faith can be frustrating yet liberating. It is frustrating because logically and realistically what you are having faith for is not physically before you yet liberating when you realize you are walking in God’s purpose, everyone around you is suppose to be there as a reminder He is leading. Faith is kicking self-doubt in the face with truth of God’s amazing ability. Nina Archange spirit rising

Faith as an As we strive to find answers to life ills within our society be it, physiological, sociological, psychological or even economical no one seems to have the right answers. A myriad of organizations, institutions and even scientists claim that they have an antidote for whatever is ailing you in this season. Strangely enough, there are several antidotes in our society, but not one man made antidote has the power to cure uncertainty and doubt. In my years of ministering and coaching, I’ve found that people will believe all sorts of things, because they really want to hold on to something tangible. The dilemma with this type of believing is it’s extremely volatile; as the environment in which we are living is forever changing. The question then arises, where do we find a solution that is immutable-never changing? My suggestion is a realm higher than where we are and in One who never changes. The very One who said, “For I am the Lord, I change not”. God in his infinite wisdom decided to give to every man an antidote to get us through life’s perpetual ailments. It is called “the measure of faith.” The faith to receive and to exercise the gifts that God apportions to us, which corresponds to the role He assigns each of us as Creator and Redeemer. However, our trust and our operations in our gifts and abilities are limited by our own belief and a measure of faith. According to Apostle Paul, “your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” Why? God is the Author and Finisher of the FAITH you possess. How much faith you have will determine the measure you have to operate in. The gift of faith is a unique form of faith that goes beyond natural faith and saving faith. It supernaturally trusts and does not doubt with reference to the specific matters involved.

  Faith is: Supernatural ability to believe God without doubt.   Faith is: Supernatural ability to combat unbelief.   Faith is: Supernatural ability to meet adverse circumstances.   Faith is: Trust in God’s messages and words.   Faith is: An inner conviction provoked by an urgent and higher calling.   Faith is: An established conviction concerning things unseen and a settled expectation of future reward.   Faith is: Substance a real or e ssential part of anything.  Faith is: Because God is.   Faith is an essential tool in this life.

Is Faith an antidote? Yes, because Faith lives in a Commanding Position with the very intent to command results from the spoken word of God. Subsequently, results occur before words are spoken into the atmosphere. For instance, when God said, “Let there be light” and at one hundred and eightysix thousand seconds later light was. The very intent of God at that kairos (opportune) moment was to create light and the result was light and God saw that it was good. The same power behind these very words has given man, who is created in the likeness of God, dominion over every living thing that moves upon the earth. God tells us in His word we can have what we say, however, the issue 36| s p i r i t

rising

that brings division, is that many of us are always saying what we have. One must condition their heart to believe the word of God, then their mind and mouth must follow. When unity occurs within the heart, you can command whatever you speak and it will come to pass, if you believe in your heart. Ask God to give you the grace to use the faith you have. God will work the miracle, if you dare to stand by faith upon His Word. God’s Word and His Laws are immutable. His methods, His miracles and manifestations are eternally limitless. Here’s an example: God is a Healer! That’s immutable. Now who among us can number the methods He employs to accomplish

the manifestation of those miracles. Maybe He does it through a doctor’s scalpel. Maybe in the middle of the night when no one else is around He may come in and touch your body or maybe in the healing line with a preacher agreeing in faith. The methods and manifestations of God’s miracles are over whelming. The only thing that is never changing is that He is a Miracle Worker and He is a Healer. Conversely, if God our Redeemer says in His word, you have faith then you have faith! With one tiny seed, a garden can grow. Many have come to the altar for prayer when I’m ministering and many have been healed….not by my works but by their faith in what God has said in His word. I often ask, “Do you believe”? It is at that moment they take the limits off of their

own faith and align it with God’s will and His word and their petition is granted. I have also seen where the mind and the mouth said, “I believe”, but the heart did not line up, it was full of doubt and that put limits on their own faith and they did not receive. For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. (Prov. 23:7) Let’s discuss for a moment faith and hope. Faith is the established conviction in the heart that says it will happen and with the expectation that it will happen. Hope is a feeling in the mind that what is wanted will happen. A desire accompanied by an expectation. Amazingly, they both carry an expectation; however, faith has absolutely nothing to do with feelings. It is an inner knowing, an unshakable trust in an all—knowing God, believing wholeheartedly, He can and will do it. The premise

spirit rising

that the impossible is possible comes from that commitment in believing. In the sovereign realm of the Deity we find our consolation because God is His word, the immutable force behind our beliefs. At the very point that you grasp the desired thing with your faith and expectation it is at that point of impact between the spiritual realm and the sovereign realm which allows the manifestation in the natural realm. You must believe to the point of expectation and you shall receive; For He is not only the Author, but the Finisher and Perfecter of our faith. Faith allows the supernatural you to do what you were created to do and it forces the natural you

to become subservient and yield to the power of Christ within you. So let us then work the word in faith and let faith then demonstrate the never changing power of the word. Remember, you never know what your “measure of faith”, is until it’s been tried and tested. Even now, the Lord wants to transform us from glory to glory, by the Spirit of the living God. Have faith in the triune God and He will work in you to do His will and good pleasure. I’ll leave you with this thought: “Faith looks at the One who promises. Hope looks to the things promised.” Are you walking in faith or are you walking in hope? What is your antidote?

How’s your faith life? By Cheryl E. Knight How’s your faith life? This is an interesting question. It reminds you of the familiar question, ‘how’s your love life?” which is responded to usually depending upon your marital status. Are you happily married or in transition? Are you struggling in your marriage or involved in an abusive relationship? It appears that the answers regarding your love life are directly affected by the current situations and circum-

stances in your life. Should you respond to your faith life in the same manner? Every child innately wants to please their parents. Think back on your childhood. Remember, tying your shoe for the first time, cooking your first meal, making your first tackle, completing your first musical recital? Usually, you were seeking the approval of your parent and wondering if they were pleased.

When you became an adult, you sometimes continue to seek approval from others in various aspects of your life (maybe your spouse, your supervisor or your church leader). This is an area to constantly evaluate because ultimately you are living your life for God. Do you want to please your heavenly Father? Of course you do. Faith pleases Him. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 New Living Translation Living a life of faith is sometimes contradictory to your everyday way of thinking and living. According to Hebrews 11:1 (New Living Translation), faith is

the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Faith living reflects belief in God’s promise of deliverance for you even when your challenges seem to remain unchanged. Faith requires that you have hope even when you’ve experienced disappointments in life. It is imperative that you continue to hope for God’s best in your life! Does your faith waver based upon what’s going on in your life? What changes will you make to remain confident in your faith? Evaluate whether your faith is in God or something or someone else (ex. yourself, your job, your family, your church, etc.).
