really easy Gingerbread Cookies This recipe is easy and the results are yummy and definitely Santa-worthy! Let the kids make their own Christmas trees by stacking star-shaped cookies of various sizes. Use royal icing to ‘glue’ the cookies to each other and decorate with sprinkles, chocolate chips, gum drop or any favourite candy.
INGREDIENTS 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup butter softened 1/2 cup molasses 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp ground ginger 1/2 tsp ground cloves 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 egg METHOD In a large bowl, with mixer at slow speed, beat flour, sugar, butter, molasses, egg, cinnamon, baking powder, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt until well mixed. Cover and refrigerate for one hour. Preheat oven to 350°F. On a lightly floured surface, working with half of the dough this time, roll 1/8 inch thick. With floured cookie cutters, cut dough into shapes. Using a metal spatula or pancake turner, place cookies half-inch apart on greased cookie sheets. Re-roll trimmings and continue to cut shapes. Bake for eight minutes, or until very lightly browned. Transfer cookies to racks to cool completely.

This hot chocolate recipe is the perfect treat at the end of a long day of shopping. Add your favourite liqueur or a splash of brandy if Kahlúa isn’t your thing. This recipe serves two, but you don’t have to share.
decidely boozy Hot Chocolate INGREDIENTS 2 cups milk 2 tbs sugar 1 1/2 tbs Dutch-processed unsweetened cocoa powder 1/4 tsp cinnamon Pinch of nutmeg 1 ounce Kahlúa coffee liqueur Mini marshmallows, for serving Salted caramel, for serving Chocolate syrup, for serving METHOD In a medium saucepan, combine milk, sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon and nutmeg over medium heat until heated through, about two to three minutes. Remove from heat and stir in Kahlúa or liqueur of choice. Serve immediately, garnished with mini marshmallows, salted caramel and chocolate syrup, if desired.
